Hi there;
I´ve purchased a Xperia Sola, it shall be a Christmas Gift
Want to do some customs and install some messenger apps, so its ready out of the box.
Now i´m unsure about saving the current Android (2.3.7) it should be possible to get back to this in case of errors/dislikes with ICS (read about some error bugs with Sola and ICS).
Whats the best way on complete stock Sola to do this, or is it even necessary?
On Htc i just unlocked the bootloader and installed CWM (unofficial way).
As far as i read through some threads here, until now the only way to unlock xperias is an official way (warranty issues?)
As long as i don´t know if the gifted person feels comfortable with the phone I don´t want to do things on the firmware that can´t be undone...
So is their any way to backup the whole rom without unlocking, or is it possible to undo unlocking/rooting in case of?
Sry for my english and some newb question but i want to be sure about this.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Wrong forum, some mod can maybe move?

I have just replaced my Sony Ericsson Vivaz with a nice new HTC Wildfire. The phone is pretty good, but I have the typical problem carrier spam applications.
I need to get rid of them. So de-branding would be my best show. I have a lot of experience with Symbian-based phones, but I'm pretty new to Android.
I've seen a "tutorial" (barely explaining stuff) on how to debrand it, but I would appreciate it if someone could explain in a little more detail (or maybe a screenshot or a video if possible).
Also one more thing (the most importaint)...while I have a slight chance to figure out how to do it, I have no idea where to get a generic firmware (or are they called "roms"?) from...anyone can tell me where I can get one that's up to date(UK region or Spain would be appreciated)? (Android 2.2.1 is the latest I believe? not custom firmware please)
Thanks in advance to all readers.
Do you like to experiment with your phone and use roms?
If so, you need to root and install a rom
The only thing that will more than likely stop you is the hboot(please search on how to check this) if your hboot is not ver0.80 you cannot root for the time being until it is unlocked.
If you want a generic rom please search Google for shipped-roms website.
For help how to do this search forum for Thu flash.
Hope this helps

I've found a website with roms, but how do I know which is generic (HTC, unmodded) and what region?
Actually, the names are so weird I can barely even figure out what they are (example: RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.37.405.1_Radio_13.53.55.24H_3.35.19.25_release_151892_signed.exe )
I don't want to install mods, only debrand it...do I need to root the phone all the same? Or unmodded roms work without it?
And one more question...after flashing with a generic rom, will I still receive OS updates (if any are released) the same way I am now?
P.S. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741651&highlight=Thu+flash <-- is this the "Thu Flash" you were talkning about?
Hi everybody,,
I am new here and I really need some answers before I root my phone.
I have xperi arc and I live in university campus,so I need to use proxy to open the internet.
what are the consequences of the rooting?
do I loose my warranty? do I loose the official update from SE? ( I have xperia arc), if yes then is there any way to update when rooted?
What I get more if I unlocked the bootloader?
if I unroot my phone , will it be exactly the same as before?
same questuon for the bootloader.
sorry if that was too long
Did you bother searching? Or perhaps you just missed the sticky?
Anyway, please refer to [Guide] All in one 'Namaste guide' to Bootloader unlocking, Rooting, Flashing & more. This should clear most of your doubts.
While you're at it, just watch this video.
Well yes i searched ,, but i didn't expect to find a general subject in xperia forums
i googled it but nothing could answer mu questions exactly
maybe because of my English
or maybe i don't know what should I write in the search box!
anyway,,, my thanks to you and yes iam noob
Glad I could help but do use the search more often.
Cheers!

Go to the General section. There's a stickied thread which tells you how to root your phone.
Follow the instructions and you won't face any problem. Good luck.

Hi everyone I'm new in this forum and I don't know anything about this smartphone world but I have some questions about my personal Xperia M. First of all I want to apologize for my bad english coz I hate web-traductors so I don't use them.
A friend told me I should install CM11 (Cyanogenmod If I remind correctly) in my smartphone coz it'd be better, I've tried to find some information in Google in my language coz I barely undertand the english technicisms for smartphones but I didn't fund anything so I decided to post in this forum.
I heard tha there is no official version for my smartphone and If I install an unofficial version this can broke my smartphone, is that true? Do you guys think that the CM11 is advisable for my Xperia? I want to know if It'll improve the performance.
How should I start If I want to install CM11 in my Xperia M? I'll let you some information:
Xperia M Android version 4.3
Never rooted it (I dont how how to do it)
Greetings!
I just noticed I posted this in the wrong section. Sorry.
Hi guys, I recently got One X which is a great upgrade from my old xperia mini and now I would like to unlock bootloader and flash custom kernel and maybe a custom ROM eventually. My question is, is there something important I need to know before I start with that because I see people mentioning some CIDs MIDs and I don't know what haha so I want to check with you before I start with anything, cause on xperia's forum nobody mentioned that stuff and now I don't know how important is all that and I certanly don't want to brick my phone.
