Does anyone know of a way to lower the in-call phone volume? Is there a way I can edit a file or flash something to change because my phone is annoyingly loud, any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance

I don't have an issue I just simply lower from rocker volume before the screen closes when I put it to my ear.

I do but it doesn't go all the down and it's still loud I can hold the phone away at least five inches away and can still hear like it was right against my face

This phone has two microphones, one on top and o e on the bottom.
I believe that when you make a call, the mic on the bottom is used by default. Both mic are enabled if you select noise cancellation during callas. Try that.
Otherwise, your problem may be more than just a broken mic, its kind of hard to break a microphone internally.

I think while in a call and in the dialer app you can access "noise cancellation" by pressing the capacitive settings button and a menu will pop up.

In Searching about the same problem this seems to be common on this phone for custom Roms... can't seem to find out why.
My phone with CM9 doesn't even have the switch for noise cancelling.
I have noticed that it makes a big difference if you speak into the mic directly - as in speakerphone vs holding it to your ear.
The mic works fine in voice recording. Bluetooth seems to be OK too.
Did not know there was a top mic... I wonder if there is a goof in the original code and the custom roms got the wrong mic...
Do any of the volume hack apps work for this phone? Not for headphones but to hear it ring louder.

U really think this phone doesn't ring loud enough? Lol...for me its almost obnoxious.

It is loud ... really loud ...
I have owned 5 other Android phones over the years before this E4GT, and it is easily the loudest of them all. The phone ringer is too loud for me, can hear the thing a mile away.

Guys remember its all in what ringer you choose to use also. Some of the custom ones I use are softer than others.

I agree it is loud. But my evo might of been louder. But either way, its loud.
Wow ... for me its also got soft speakers ... can barely hear anything without headphones
If anything this phone needs reduced sound. It's so loud at maxed setting I can leave it in my basement and hear it on the 2nd floor lol.. The alarm volume is really low though and you'll sleep thru it.. Reminds me of the first epic since it had the same issue with the notification volume being lower then the others...

I use "old phone" ringtone, and it is just way too loud at max volume, ear piercing.
I keep it set to 1/3rd volume, and that is plenty loud to hear nearby.

I use music as a ringer. I think it's the song. Thanks guys

I find that the earpiece volume on my AT&T Galaxy S3 is pretty low even when set to the Max. The speaker volume is fine. Does anyone know how to boost the earpiece volume? I found this mod, but it's for the international version - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722136.
Thanks.
Did you try the extra volume button?
Its right under the call time

I did try that, but I thought that only increased the volume of the speaker, not the earpiece.
Maybe its a rom issue cause when I press it the ear piece is about twice as loud

Anyone else got a loose volume button
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
What do you mean? All I know the thing which disturbing me is that I can't control both Ringtone & notification volume with one click on the hardware volume button
When I move volume button for side to side it feels loose and a gap appears

Same here.. power button also.
Whn u lightly keep ur finger on it.. it kinda moves.
Is it covered under warranty?

This is an issue with CM10 source but the latest nightlies seem to fix it some. It's still being worked on though.

volume + if u want it loud that bad
I think the notifications sounds affect the volume of music or whatever is playing at the moment. I've noticed that I'll be playing music and I'll receive a text and my volume will go down and it won't go back up as loud....?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
The same thing happens to me. Volume will not go back up automatically but if I hit the volume up or down it immediately goes back to where it was.
