How to lower brightness even further? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I put my dim level and brightness down to as far as they can go down and the homescreen is dimmed fine but I notice in the dark, opening a browser or a program that my brightness is pertty high and enough to keep me awake. How would I do this in AOKP roms and is there a good program to help me tweak it down further?
Any apps to control brightness by app?

I think there's a feature in the ktweaker app on KToonz's kernel that will let you drop brightness further. That's the only place I've seen it.

+1 for screen filter. I have been using it for a long time and it's been great.

Lux also allows you to go lower on brightness. It also does auto brightness way better than the stock touch wiz.

I really wish there was an app that put sepia/lowered brightness all in one app and hopefully a dropdown notification bar. I mean along iwth cell standby display tends to be the main culprit of battery drain.
Would be nice to have an app like that. DEV it

You can also use rootdim

Thanks I was looking for this exact thing.
I troll the forum in the mornings before work and the S3 on the lowest setting is still to bright and bothers my wife.

Thanks for that, I knew about Screen Filter but I was looking for something that would actually dim the backlight instead of just overlaying on the display.

How to disable brightness control for the notification bar?

When I have my phone in my pocket my brightness sometimes is changed. Is there an app to disable brightness control from the notification bar. I want keep the brightness level as low as possible all the time to save my battery life. Please help. Thanks.

The better question would be: why is your screen on in your pocket?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
You can always go back to eclair
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Put it on auto-brightness. It will lower the brightness in a dark area like your pocket. It'll disable the brightness control also. Hope this helps.

Can't you change this in the settings?
I would like to disable this control too.
Can anyone help please?
Is there any hidden setting to disable it?

+1 to this... might not be the best solution for somebody trying to always keep it at minimal brightness, but, to my knowledge, it is the only way to disable the swipe of the notification bar to change brightness...

Root explorer or similar and delete brightness.apk from /system/app

Display Brightness

So I don't know if it's just me but even on its lowest setting, the SGS3 display is very bright.
Would it be possible for someone to make a script so we can lower the brightness a bit more?
In a brightly lit room on the lowest setting its very bright to me, so I wish to lower it in those times to save battery life.
Is there an after market app that can do this?

There's an app called screen filter which can make it darker. It's free I believe.

Lux is a great auto brightness app that can also be used to manually adjust the brightness down until the screen is almost not visible.

How is light flow with battery, I remember hearing bad things about it
Light flow doesnt really work for mine though. ..
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
wow, lightflow is pretty sweet. I still uninstalled it though cause i like the defaults just fine. I didn't realize we had all those colors to choose from though.
Unfortunately, that poor LED on the GS3 has some trouble with some colors. Green with a yellow dot in the middle, anyone?
I just turn off LED notifications, Seems a waste of battery if it is always in my pocket and I cannot see the LED's.
I was able to customize my led notifications with slimbean rom

iOS Color settings

Would it be possible to get these? I like the way the iPhone 5 screen is calibrated. I'm currently using PA Contrasty.

I believe there's an xposed module that does that, accept you have to manually set the color for each application.
I believe it was called status bar tint our something sound those lines.

Do you have power save mode set on or auto dimming set on? Check your settings. There is a separate setting for auto dimming in Display (second tab in settings) and on the last tab of settings you will find power save.
Personally I use Tasker to control my screen display.
