Hyperion 3800mah extended battery - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I just got mine last week. I think it's well worth the money. third day I had it I had to stay home cuz my kid was sick and got 6 hrs of screen time before I had to recharge. granted I was on Wi-Fi the while time but....
well worth it

I'd get it for backup but I can't think of a good enough reason to need a backup as my battery lasts throughout my work day

Not Satisfied yet.

Screen on time 3 hours and 10 minutes, won't let me upload that. What can I do to prolong the battery even more, or is this probably as good as it gets?
That's about as good as it'll get with 3hrs 10min screen on.
It's weird how they give stock batteries that are just a little short. Example:
I got an evo 3d battery for my sensation which only has 200 mah more capacity, but with ics and a new battery, I finally have a phone that lasts for the whole day with heavy use.....

I get pretty much exactly 4 hours of screen time unless I really spread out the usage.
-Android revolution HD 4.0.0 rom
-Stock kernel
-Running Wi-Fi most of the day - but with lots if dropped connections
-Still dropping the non data signal a lot too.
-autobrightness on
standard usage - twitter, Facebook, tapatalk, YouTube, chrome beta, texting etc.
Could probably get it to 4.5 hours if I was trying.
I'm tempted to try a new kernal - maybe the Jame bond kernel which gives some people 5 hours screen time apparently.
That's not bad at all. About average for most phones. If you can't deal with it, buy a bigger battery.

Turning off bluetooth / wifi when not in use? What's your screen brightness level and do you have many widgets updating constantly? Things like that will drain battery, try checking into those.

You can get better. I get 5 hours screen on time using Trinity's experimental alpha 1 kernel. I'll try to upload the photo, xda app is being kind of finicky .

I've got one of these bad boys:
http://www.newtrent.com/store/iphone-external-battery/icruiser.html
Used it for my Nexus S when traveling and now my Galaxy Nexus. They have a new one that's 12,000 mAh. (the one linked is 11,000) Support is kick ass.
I know the end result is trying to save money while increasing battery, but at least I can use this for multiple phones, 3DS, etc. Plus I NEED it for GPS when traveling due to my vision. Worth the investment.

Worth $10 for a refurb?

My wife just upgraded to an iPhone5 by signing a 2-year extension, so I've decided to upgrade to another phone to keep our contract terms the same. I have a Galaxy Nexus that I've enjoyed using - mainly for the official updates. But for $10, I can get a refurb One X. I know these phones are pretty similar, but I wanted to list a few gripes about the GNex and see if they are evident in the HOX:
1. GPS hardly works - I've tried some fixes, but I always seem to have to turn off Google location and reboot for a signal to sync.
2. Battery Life - I'm a pretty heavy web surfer and the GNex will typically last 4 - 5 hours (30%). On a typical day, I usually charge once around 1:00pm and before bed.
I love JB, but if it not released for HOX in October, I imagine I can find a ROM with it?

Yup you can still have rom with it..plenty available.. but official will be october yes..

Great to hear about the October release. GPS is the biggest annoyance, so glad to hear that's all good. When you say :nor happy' with the battery, would you speculate or have observed worse, equal, or a little better than GNex?

Battery life depeds on how u use the phone..
If u use 3g all the time and usual auto sync then u can get aprox around 3 hours of screen on time..
Compared to gnex its lower..
U can get 4-5 hours on galaxy s3..
So tbh hox fails on battery..
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
No you do not unless you are hardly using your phone except staring at it. 2 hours on screen time is average and eveb then you gotta be careful.

Sorry, what's that? $10 for the phone? $10 a month? For 2 years? I'd be all over that.
Thanks for the responses. I'll need to do a little more research. It's $10 when signing a 2-year agreement.

the One X and Nexus are not similar....massively better screen, built and camera, GPU and CPU i don't see the "similar"
just be prepared for a lot of screen off time and less screen on time, Tegra 3 is different from all other phones it gives crazy amount of sleep time thanks to the extra low power core and consumes a lot during actual use, over wifi browsing you can achieve 3.5 hours, don't forget the screen is over 4x brighter so even at 25% you are still brighter than the GNEX, heavy 3d gaming gives around 2.5 to 3 hours on stock ROM
custom ROMs are aplenty and CM10 is fully functional but you loose the benefits of Sense (believe when i say benefits) and you loose the camera abilities like HDR and burst mode
the current 2.17 Android 4.0.4 firmware is almost as smooth as JB
we had the leaked JB alpha test firmware for few weeks, beta is just around the corner and the final OTA is coming in OCTOBER
be careful with refurbs we had lots of QC issues on launch

Post your battery stats

I've been watching this thread in the N7100 forum. Let's see how the att version compared to the International! I have yet to decide between the att & International version.
Let's see your results!!
I've had the international for the past 2 weeks and got the att version today and so far battery is
Better on the international, gave the International to my gf thinking the att one would be better and I was
Wrong, as far as speeds go hspa vs lte just a a second or 2 faster
At least for browsing the Web, I'll update my results once I have the
Phone longer, but get the international if you can.
So far international easy I would get 16hrs so far my att note 2 died at 8 hrs. I must have something I need to adjust
This was straight out the box with only 55ish% charge. Completely stock. Im happy so far.

Fantastic battery life on 4.2

Battery life is very good compared to the previous releases. I ran for forty minutes with Bluetooth turned on while listening to tune in radio and using endomondo app. Google now turned on. I lost fifteen percent compared to losing 35% with similar usage. Very satisfied.
What do you think?

Ditto. My phone ran like a champ on a freshly flashed ROM. Then my phone realized it was born as a Verizon-Nexus mutt and had a psychological breakdown to the point of 1.75 hours of on-screen time the day after.
Twas a sad day
I'm reading my work email over the exchange service account. After upgrde to 4.2 the exchange service process eats my whole battery so I can't tell about any improvement.

When it comes to battery life (in general, though especially true with this newest release), it's crazy how many divergent opinions you get. Some people claim to get amazing battery life (exactly what quantifies for amazing?) and some people claim the battery life is crap. This is just to remind you that unless you have a good way of measuring battery life, your measurements can be plus/minus hour(s). Someone who just leaves their phone on a black screen with no wi-fi and cell may get 10 hours of screen-on time. Someone who is watching videos with cell/wi-fi might only get 2 hours of screen-on time.
In the future, I can make two recommendations:
Always report a complete cycle (from 100% to close to 0%). This is because the battery does not discharge at a constant rate.
Always report screen on time
Average for GNexus in previous builds was 2-4 hours. I've no idea about the plus/minus, but they tend not to be under 2 and over 4 with moderate usage. I think an average of 3-3.5 hours is what most people are happy to report.
And that is really sad because my old atrix used to get over 8 hours on Wi-Fi with over twelve hours of standby time. I wish they would make this phone but with a smaller screen size. The technology used on this phone is not battery efficient at all.

This tells us nothing....u don't show ur screen on time and uve been charging off and on..
Battery life in sleep mode is worse for me. I am losing 3% an hour with the screen off, I used to lose only 3% total overnight with the screen off not per hour. I tested this over the last 4 hours only waking the tablet up long enough to check the battery level and it has gone down by 3% each time. Nothing has changed with any apps or setting since I upgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.2. I got concerned when I noticed this morning that my battery was over 15% less then when I went to sleep. Anyone else notice this?
This is very good battery by my standards.

yeah using the 4.2 factory image with trinity a4 and getting great battery life

Android OS at 11% should I be worried?

Hey guys
I got my nexus 7 on Christmas day and as you can see in the screenshot its battery life is pretty good
I would have thought that the android os would go down from 11% to about 4-5% but it hasn't, I'm only on my 3rd charge cycle
What do you guys think ?

No.
With your tablet being on for so long (great battery life btw), it was doing literally nothing other than idling. If you were to use it a lot, playing games, reading stuff, etc., it would be down much lower. Don't worry about it.
Thanks

That's exactly why I got a Nexus - because I knew it would be easy to root and mod, with tons of ROM choices, haha! But I think I get your point - they are great out of the box without a bunch of bloatware. Just got mine and haven't really kept tabs on battery usage yet, but it has been impressive, both stock and on CM11.
