[Q] Gyro and Camera not in sync - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have rooted so I can play around with photosphere and I have noticed that my camera and gryo are not in sync. When taking photospheres I have to hold the phone at a slight angle to get it to line up.
I have tried restarting on a flat surface but the problem remains. Any ideas?
And yes, I did search first.

Try holding the phone face down, and move the phone in a figure 8 pattern. . The same movement they suggest when using Google sky

[Q] Front facing video app? security related

Hello,
I am wondering if there is an app that will begin capturing front facing video or screen shots when my phone is unlocked from the lock screen. For example, I leave the room and suspect others of snooping on my phone while I am gone. Please no comments on "just take your phone with you" because that will not help me determine what I need to.
Thank you.

Huge problem with gyroscope, please help.

As title.
Since many days my gyroscope is going mad.
If I leave the phone motionless, on a table for example, the gyroscope does not remain stationary, it moves.
I tryed the free app from the market GyroRotate, I leave the phone on the table, and the cube moves by itself. This make games like battlefield unplayable.
I'm experiencing this problem since some days, why?
I have the stock rom. Are you experiencing the same problem?
Can you try the GyroRotate app please and tell me if your cube moves if you leave the phone on the table?
Thanks.
Tested with that App and mine is fine. Have you tried the figure 8 movement to reset the gyro?

Mine also works as expected.
Thanks to all. Now is fine here also.
A battery pull solved the problem.
Neither a reboot solved before the battery pull.
My phone takes 4-5 seconds to switch from landscape and portrait and I am having the same issue with games from time to time. I am still incredibly surprised and annoyed that they did not include a "calibration" option in settings.
Mine still has roughly a 2 second lag when rotating. Today when playing a game that you can rotate to landscape on either side it keeps flipping itself as though I'm holding the phone upside down...argh...so frustrating.
I tried the figure 8 now and if that doesn't help then I did a battery pull
I tried to find the GyroRotate app but it doesn't exist on the android market.
Still having issues.
I have the same problem I wonder if the games are messed up, because the app "gyroscope rotate" works fine.
But Brothers in arms 2 (free app) it's moving to the right by itself.
Can someone else try this game?
Also Asphalt 6 is messed up too.

pull battery didn't help..
same problem here, tried battery pull with phone turned off and then turned on, but still neither worked. Don't understand what "8 movement" people are talking about. Is any way I can solve this problem ??? I want to use google cardboard on my galaxy s4 but it goes to one side alone slowly -.-
Goggle Cardboard problem
Hi, I have the same problem with realy slowly movement of sreen in Google Cardboard app. I have tested my gyroscope with other app and it is very accurate. Any suggestions how to fix it
Same problem with Samsung Galaxy S3, after shaking the phone the movement changes direction for a while. This problem is really visible in virtual reality apps. What can be done to fix this? Any help is really appreciated!
Same problem here with the galaxy note 3. The cardboard app is impossible to enjoy and also photospheres are moving left by their own. Could it be an hardware problem? Has anyone found a fix?
Here is the solution that worked for my Samsung Galaxy S4:
1. Open Phone app
2. Tap on Kepad tab
3. Type *#0*#
4. Tap on Sensor
5. Put your phone on a flat surface
6. Tap on Gyro selftest button
7. After the PASS message, tap the back button until you exit on the homescreen.
That's it! Hope this helps you guys.

[Q] LG G3 Front Camera crash

I love my LG G3 but the front camera has been giving me trouble.
For the first week its great (except my wife keeps borrowing it for selfies haha). Then suddenly the front camera stops working. Trying to activate front camera in any app (I tried LG Camera, Google Camera, Hangouts with Vid call) results in that app locking up for about 10 seconds then crashing back home screen on a pretty usable phone. Do it once more and the whole phone becomes unusable - even long hold power off won;t work, requiring battery extraction to recover it.
I have tried removing data and cache from the camera app and that didn't help.
Tried a software data reset (via the menus), that didn't help.
Just for kicks I enabled ART in developer menu to see if that possibly helped, it didn't (side note: ART seems snappy)
So I am at a loss now, next step after this is hard reset, but I am not optimistic that will achieve anything the soft reset didn't.
Anyone else encountered similar issues?

It didn't. Result seems the same as the menu based reset. Not unexpectedly.
Hi there,
Just got my Lg G3 and all works great but after a while (few hours) the same problem accured...the camera crashed when i switched from rear to front and after that even rear wouldn't work.
I did factory reset...still same problem. Then i focused on my case...i realized that this problem appeared when i installed quick circle cover (it has no wireless charging on the back cover) soo i removed it and installed original. Camera works like a charm now!

Hi There,
Did you manage to resolve this issue with the front camera? I am having the same problem.
Thanks
Guys, do a hard reset..not a soft reset.
Anyways, its seems that there is a problem with the hardware itself since you mentioned that you've tried several camera apps and still force closing. Try bringing it to a service center..you might be able to get a replacement.

Camera mode issues (numbers)

Recently, when I turn on the camera there are numbers on the upper right corner of the screen such as 31503, in front facing mode and 7104 in rear mode. The camera has never had this problem and the pictures still turn out perfectly fine. I just don't know the numbers are there and I want to get rid of them. I'm also wondering if I wanted to reset the phone's camera would that delete my pictures? Any suggestions would appreciated!
No it wouldn't delete.

the numbers are still there...but reset didn't affect my pictures either
Use Motorola camera port. Maybe it would help. And disable geo tagging.
form your explanation i think that you are talking about the number of photos that the memory can store, so for the front camera it will store more than the back camera as it has less mega pixel and less resolution

Extreme lag with camera apps

I've seen threads about performance issues when charging etc and I have them myself!
One thing that completely destroys me is the performance when trying to take a quick picture or use an app that uses the camera.
E.g. barcode scanners move the complete opposite direction
Snapchat is also practically unusable. When I open it, it completely s**ts itself every time and is unusual!
I guess my question is..... Do you think custom ROMs and recoveries will solve the issues?
Thanks

I definitely think we should see some optimizations in the next weeks. Snapchat would crap out on me and eventually cause the camera module to crash. It got to the point that the camera would turn black within Snapchat and even within the camera app itself. Only fix was to reboot the phone to get the camera working again. Yesterday I received a snapchat update, not sure if it was meant to address performance issues, but it now works more smoothly and doesn't crash as often. There is definitely room for improvement!
It's really doing my head in and glad I'm not on my own in seeing this!! I don't know anyone else with the 5x to compare so been searching online.
I timed it today, I rebooted the phone and left it 5 minutes without opening anything. I fired up the camera app and it took 124 seconds (just over 2min) until the app was ready to take a photo (the blue circle showing around the shutter button). Then tapping the button to take a photo took a further minute to take the actual photo. Then the phone was that sluggish it needed a reboot.
Not sure if it's the hardware, the os or the app but I've tried Open Camera too and that seems to be really really slow. And, as the OP says, Snapchat totally craps out as do other apps that use the camera.

I just tried the same test. The camera app opened and was ready to shoot (blue circle showing) in about 2 seconds. Double pressing the power button to open the camera app had the blue circle around the shutter button showing right away
Every now and then it does work perfectly. But more times than not there is a massive lag. Usually after the phone has been on for half a day, but like this morning sometimes when it's just turned on.
I've experienced the same issues mentioned by you guys, especially in the OP.
Snapchat has practically been completely unusable until the most recent update, and that only marginally improved things. The root cause seems to be the camera itself, as I'm only seeing this type of lag in apps that access the camera. I can't help but imagine Google is working on a fix for this in the very near future, just one of those 'early adopter' issues I guess. It has caused me to do daily reboots just about, which is very aggravating because that defeats the purpose of a good camera if you miss the moment you're trying to capture. As I'm sure you guys have noticed, when the camera app actually works properly, the pictures are pretty impressive, which makes it all the more aggravating that it can't be used as fluently as designed.
Hoping for all of our sake that Google fixes this soon.
I'm in the same boat.
