After installing go to languages and input and check Android Key board
Hope it will be useful.
Download and Install
Now, getting it on your device is going to be easy for some of you, and less easy for others. You'll need to be on Android 4.0+, to start.
If you're on a phone with a UI overlay that has the stock keyboard disabled (eg, Samsung TouchWiz, HTC Sense, Sony), you can just download the apk below- no root required. To install, make sure you have "install from unknown sources" enabled in your phone settings, and after installation, go into your phone's keyboard settings and enable "Android keyboard." Then, you can switch to the new keyboard. This may also work on some "stock" Android custom ROMs - but it will not work on stock Android builds distributed by Google.
Get the apk here: http://d-h.st/XuS
If the apk doesn't work, you're running a phone that is either A.) running stock Android (as in, AOSP), or B.) running software that has the stock Android keyboard as an option, you'll need to download this ZIP file, and flash it in recovery. That also means you're going to need root. as you'll be writing to /system/apps. Before you do, though, either back up the stock keyboard (if you don't know how, you probably shouldn't be doing this) or create a full image backup, just in case. Here's that ZIP file:

I really liked it. Though today i booted up my phone and got fc like crazy over swype. If you read the apk it says minimum os requirement is 3.1
So far, after a restart, I have it working again.. What I did:
1. Select a different keyboard to stop the force closing of the new Swype.
2. Restore the original pre installed Swype.
3. Dalvik wipe and a cache wipe. after the reboot, FIRST de-select the default Swype input to Android keyboard
5. Delete the old Swype (backup the original) from system/app.
6. Proceed to the Swype installer and install Swype, when it gets to the licensing part, you should get a background fc (I believe that's Swype restarting from unlicensed, to licensed.)
7. Don't enable Swype after licensing is done. Instead move it to system/app.
8. Restart into cwm. Dalvik wipe 3x, and reboot. The force closing is gone. Go into the locale and text input in settings, and notice all keyboards are checked. when you try typing no keyboard should come up.
9. Launch Swype installer and it now says (sorry, Swype is not available on preinstalled devices) close out and as soon as you try typing again, the new Swype will work again . No force closes, still works after reboot and etc.
I hope this delicate procedure helps someone else who wants the latest Swype, its Hella worth it, and you'll be glad you did since here on after it will be ota updates! =D

Hm, after I remove 3.25 then reboot it's still there! Guess I'll have to stick with that one...
EDIT: Was able to remove 3.25 with Titanium Backup, rebooted and installed 3.26 successfully. Lost the slick theme from the Nexus S 3.25 but better functionality and OTA updates will be worth it!

1. Uninstall your current Swype (just the keyboard, leave the installer)
2. Make a backup copy on your sdcard of /system/build.prop (Use ES File Explorer/Root Explorer, etc.. Something that has root access and write access to root level)
3. Go in and open your current build.prop on the device in /system/ and modify the following line.
Change the line:
ro.product.model=Nexus S 4G (on our phone it shows sph-d700, but change it to Nexus S)
To read:
ro.product.model=Nexus S
Save, reboot and run the installer.. You will then have 3.26 when completed. Afterwards go back in and either change your current build.prop back to saying Nexus S 4G or delete out the current and replace with your backup copy.

I just got it installed, loving the new layout. Bigger spacebar and they removed the language icon finally!
running SR v1.2, just used titanium backup to uninstall the system app. Then installed as normal from the site. Works great.
Update: looks like when I reboot, I get a bunch of Swype force closes. I made the update to build.prop above and it fixed the issue.
1. Uninstall your current Swype (just the keyboard, leave the installer)
2. Make a backup copy on your sdcard of /system/build.prop (Use ES File Explorer/Root Explorer, etc.. Something that has root access and write access to root level)

Good catch. This fixed my FC on reboot problem. I just wish we could have this without the installer.
My version of getting it installed can have installer removed, without faking the build.prop
Hm.. interesting, I'm not able to follow my instructions on GB. They worked fine for Froyo. Guess my Instructions only help if you're on froyo?

I successfully installed 3.26, what I did:
1. Switched to Android Keyboard (turned off Swype)
2. Uninstalled Swype AND Swype Installer with Titanium
3. Went on-line to have new invite email sent.
4. Clicked on link, Installer installed no problem.
5. Swype installed no problem.
Can the Installer now be uninstalled, since Swype is supposed update itself automatically from now on?
If you want 3.26 themed, check out this guy's site. Awesome work, and they're all fully compatible with our phone.
Also very easy to install. All you have to do is download his apk, uninstall swype from ur phone (thru titanium OR delete w/ root explorer), then just install the new swype 3.26 regularly. no need to root explorer push or flash or wutever. just install. 1-2-3.

better hurry in case swype shuts this guy down or something, as they've done in the past. or at least request that he takes down all his swype beta apks.
i love this keyboard thanks
can someone please post the latest beta apk? i have deleted the appropriate files/previous version and downloaded the installer but it still wont let me install the beta.
please help
Send you the apk is not allowed cause it's only for beta testers...but you can contact the Swype support
i dont think that is true as you can download it directly from their website but if your phone has swype preinstalled they dont let you download it. Can someone please post the latest version of swype with Dragon?

If you are a beta member you can download it. If you have Swype preinstalled remove the apk, lib file, and data folder then install the Swype installer. Swype has asked before that people stop publicly distributing their product, especially their betas.

Hi guys,
I managed to flash CM9 with the help of some people on these forums .
However, now i would like to restore some system apps from the stock ICS app, which i loved. For example, I downloaded the .apk for the Xperia Gallery, and I've moved it into System/Apps/, and set the permissions. However, i cannot seem to load it. I've also wiped the dalvik cache.
How do i run the Xperia Gallery?
THANKS!!!
it would of been easier if you used Titanium Backup instead... this is what you can do
-download ES file explorer > find the .apk in your SD card, where ever you put it > install it and load it
The thing is becuase it is a system app, whenever i try install it, it will say "application not installed".
u cannot use some stock apps as these apps requires sony supporting files, which can only be found on stock roms..
Damn...
Is there any other way to get Xperia Gallery back?
go back to stock rom...

why dont you try custom roms based on stock rom? they are smooth and nice..
I personally dislike the Xperia Gallery. It takes ages to load.

Hi guys,
Im sorry but I'm back with another question (not again -_-"). I was just wondering, How do I change the default app for viewing images on my CM9 flashed android? I've got another app for viewing images and it is set to default, unless, i open images through the camera app
Help will be greatly appreciated!!!
go to settings..apps..then look for that default app...open it and "clear default"..tats it..next time when u open an image, phone will ask u to select an app out of 2 or 3...tick mark on make default and select that app..tats all
here download the gallery from here.
it works

So this morning i got the most recent stock update, (yes im not rooted) and within the update samsung adding in swype (Not T9 trace), but the icon on my keyboard never pops up for me to switch to swype.. like its there but not able to use it.. can anyone help me figure this out?
Also ever since the update earlier, auto correct has become really really ****ty D=
I hate the version of Swype that came in the li3 update. I removed it (must be rooted) and installed the beta.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
I cant even make swype work. Theres no way to disable it or make it work!
If you are rooted you can remove it, then install the beta which is a later version and is better in my opinion.
To remove it use Root Explorer (or equiv):
- Delete libSwypeCore.so from the directory /system/lib/
- Delete Swype.apk from the directory /system/app/
- Reboot
- Download and install the Swype Beta Installer, and install the latest beta.
I have found that the version that is included with LI3 (v 1.1.0.7309) is not as good as the latest beta (v 1.1.1.7628).

Reaper is there a emblem in the top left corner when you are on a text message that looks like a keyboard if so you can punch that and it gives you the option or i think you can go into settings and languages and keyboards and you can uncheck all but voice and swype and it should default to swype that way. not sure thou i am sure you have tried both of those but without knowing what you have done i gotta start somewhere
Have you guys tried the first Stable JellyBEan yet

But i'am still having a trouble with this ROm, the default voice search is not working, i need it for my virtual assistant to work..I tried to download from the market but it say that Voice Search is installed, i can't delete it and install a new one either.
Any Ideas ?
AW: Trouble with NAMELESS ROM by djoliver
hey dude
i have a option to solve the problem:
1. download link2sd from google play
2. open it
3. look for voice search and tap on it
4. there you can reinstall, freeze, or deinstall.
5. select reinstall
5,1. if it is not working just deinstal it and search in the market for the same or something better.
Hope i helped you
According to this post it's not a ROM issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39628648&postcount=17
To delete apps that are included with the ROM, there's no need for Link2SD or any apps like that.
All you need is a Root Browser (Most CM10 roms have the default Cyanogenmod one. You need to take it off Safe mode from the settings tho).
I personally use Root Browser Lite which can be downloaded.
Navigate to System > App and find the corresponding App and you can just press & hold it and select Delete. Boom, app deleted.
But back to your original point, Voice Search also does not work for me and I am using the same ROM. Maybe you can use a similar 3rd party app?

Hi all,
It's been a while since I've come across a problem that Google couldn't help me with, and my search skills have not turned up any results...so I'm turning to the community again.
I recently decided to try out some Jelly Bean roms on my Desire after being a long time MildWild user. The rom that I found best suited was CyanoMod007 (JB 4.2.2 | Int2Ext+ | A2Ext+) [STOCK | CM7] [v21 | 19/05/13]. However this uses the trebuchet launcher which is a bit too slow for my liking.
I experimented with Apex launcher, essentially removing Trebuchet from the zip file and inserting Apex in its place and that worked fine.
However, I also wanted to try Nova Launcher and Smart Launcher. Following the same procedure as with Apex, I went through and reflashed my device, but in both these instances, Nova Lanucher and Smart Launcher failed to start.
I'm not sure why this is the case, as far as I could tell they should be working properly, but all I seemed to get was the popup telling me "Unfortunately, xxx Launcher, has stopped."
Could anyone shed some light on the situation?
Did you set the right permissions?
Why reflash the rom just to install a launcher?
Install the launcher of your choice normally with the apk, or if you want it to be a system app you can use a root file explorer to place it into system/app. Also change the permissions to rw-r-r.

To be honest with you I didn't realise you had to set permissions before adding a new apk. Whenever I've made my own modifications to roms I've always just swapped the apks out of the zip before sending it over to the phone to install.
I'll try to dig up a thread with some instructions.

Well, I went from an old Gingerbread rom to Jelly Bean, so I had to flash the rom. Once I got setup with jelly bean and saw it worked I thought it would be the best time to experiment with rom changes before I download all my apps and contact info etc so I've been making changes to the rom zips and installing them to see what works and what doesn't.
---Quick Edit---
After looking into the issue some more, I've managed to hack together a solution, though I'm not sure if this will cause issues down the line. It seems to be working fine at the minute.
Basically, I installed the rom with Apex, downloaded Smart Launcher and Titanium Backup, set Smart Launcher as the default launcher and removed Apex with Titanium.
While this does seem to work, I'm still trying to find some information regarding apk permissions when adding them to a zip file and why the apk wouldn't work from a fresh install, so by all means any comments on that front would be welcomed.

Any time you move an apk to /data or /system manually, you have to set rw-r-r permissions. You should just install the ROM and then use cmd or filemanager to replace Trebuchet with Apex or whatever launcher you want. Simply refrain from adding apks to pre-install zip files.
Why uninstall with Titanium when you can simply delete from /system/app? I think Titanium causes problems on some JB roms...

I initially tried to go to /system/app using Estrong File Manager before opting for Titanium as I wasn't sure if it would cause problems. However, when searching with the file manager I didn't find any apk's. Could this have been because I did it while the system was mounted i.e. phone turned on?
Apologies for what may seem like basic questions / understanding, but as you can see from my join date I've only had an android device from September of last year and the truth is after following the Noob proof everything guide for the HTC Desire and installing my MildWild gingerbread rom I never experimented with anything until now.

That means that whatever File manager you're using doesn't have root capabilities. Try root browser https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.root.browserfree&hl=en and you'll be able to access anything in / .
For some managers there is an option to mount system r/w. Try that too.

Yup, you were right, the issue was I wasn't running the file manage with root mounted. Once I enabled the mount system r/w setting I had access to the apks.
So with that sorted I'm guessing that for future tests the best way of making edits to roms would be to install the rom, then using the file manager (un)install apks as I choose?

Well yeah. It takes more time than editing zips, but you won't usually get problems unless you delete an important apk.
