I appologize if this has been already answered. I did search around and couldnt find any threads related to this.
Does anyone know if the Midnight ROM has corrected the data connectivity issues that are present in the stock froyo build from samsung/sprint.

I am using the ROM and haven't experienced any issues what so ever.
Thanks.
I am currently running the stock froyo build from the Samsung site. Rooted and CW2 installed. Notice the problem when I am roaming using roam control. Data connectivity is intermittent. Hoping a custom rom is the way to go.
I am a little reluctant to go to the ext4 format. Will this prevent me from upgrading "official" froyo updates as they become availabe?

If you're running a custom rom then OTA updates will not come automatically.
Like when official froyo came out. After a few days the devs here had a tar file that included root and recovery. So using odin; i used that to get to the latest version provided by sprint (plus the extras I needed to run custom roms)
Then flashed my fav eb13 rom (eb13 being the version of official froyo from sprint for epic)
smooth sailing; as long as you read and familiarize before you just jump in. You'll know what to -not- do and what to do if something funky happens.
Good lock and happy romming!!
i am running midnight rom 4.1 and have no issues. if you are having issues i would suggest redoing it, not uncommon to have issues every now and then.
I am using Juggernaut v3.7 ROM. Is there anyway I can have tmobile wifi calling app? Where I should get the app, and will it compatible with Juggernaut v3.7 ROM?
Thanks
A couple of things:
First off, WiFi Calling is no longer an APK. It is hardwired into the OS. Because of that it was necessary for T-Mobile to release an OTA OS update to Android 2.3.6. That update came with the built in wifi calling.
As for using it with Juggernaught, that is NOT possible yet. They need to completely rebuild the ROM based on 2.3.6 before we will be able to use it. If you MUST have juggs then you will need to continue using the rom with no wifi calling. However, if (like me) you need wifi calling yesterday, then you will need to do one of two things. Either go back to stock and Odin the official OTA update from TMO or flash using CWM one of the stock roms that are built on 2.3.6 OTA update.
Hope that clears it up for you.
P.S. In the future you should really search the forums as WhitehawkX answered this question already in his Juggs thread in the Dev section. And all instructions for getting WIFI calling are ALSO located in the Dev and General sections.
Besides we don't have many developers unfortunately, so we're on our own.

Definitely need Wi-Fi Calling in the area where I live.
I have seen apps that offer Wi-Fi Calling from the UVMC 6 Release by TMO but some of them don't.
What files do I need to manipulate (I'm guessing some .so files from lib and .jar files from framework) would I need to put Wi-Fi calling into my ROMs that are UVMC 6 but may not have Wi-Fi calling?
Anybody have any ideas or leads that I can follow?
Thank you.
Seriously...take this advice...Just install a tmo based rom.
This is a catch 22. If you were good enough to add tmo wifi calling to a non-native rom, you'd be building your own kernels from scratch and would be experienced enough to know how. In not saying you're not experienced because I don't know. What I do know is what you're asking for is 1. not easy and 2. not for beginners.
Edit: and I forgot the most important thing...tmo's wifi calling is a closed source feature so there's no code to build from.

Well see that's the thing. I am using a native T-Mobile ROM (uvmc6) latest release with their radio...not sure about kernel but it is just missing the feature WiFi calling.

Do you have wifi calling enabled? Is it enabled on your account? Do you have the proper SIM? Has it worked before for you?

Okay. It is the stock rom; debloated; deoed and zip aligned.
On the past stock ROM (Same radio, same kernel, same release (UVCM6)), I had wi-fi calling working. This is a new ROM (the awesome Embryo 6.11 to be exact) and I am trying to get the files necessary from a native UVCM6 ROM with wi-fi calling working onto the Embryo ROM.
Sum it up:
-Currently Using Embryo 6.11 (debloated UVCM6) ROM without Wi-Fi Calling feature.
-Trying to put the files from a Tmo released stock UVCM6 ROM with Wi-Fi calling feature.
Need the files necessary

My suggestion is ask in the thread if that option is not showing up on your phone. And make sure its not there. If its not maybe re-flash the ROM.
The embryo ROM is based on the skyrocket from AT&T. Its not a native Tmo build. Yes, stuff was added for WiFi calling but the code is not intended to work with it. Try another rom. I sure could use WiFi calling as well but seeing as I need a new sim card(to lazy to get a new one) I switched back to embryo from countless Tmo 4.1.2 ROMs. I guess its the theme that got me lol
To answer your question, no. WiFi calling won't work on the Embryo ROMs.

There's Jedi Mind Trick, Infamous, Jellybeast and a couple other stock ROMs in the dev section that run as smooth as embryo minus the customization. Just give the ROMs some time to add custom features...

Well, I know all this. He did an awesome job with the ROM with customization and everything. I like Embryo probably the best of all the TW Roms. But even with his inclusion of wi-fi calling apk, the framework didn't transfer over for TMO UVMC6. I am hoping in his next release he will work on it.
But, what i was hoping to make was a flashable zip file with the necessary framework and apk to add on to his ROM. I wanted to know if devs knew what files were workable with.
when i was using Infuse 4G, I used this method successfully to get TMO Wifi calling working on ATT based ROM. Of course it wont work on our SGS2 but looks like there maybe a way to enable TMO wifi calling on non TMO based ROMs...

Thank you for your response.
I think I might've actually used a method of some sort like that in the past for Gingerbread ROMs. 2.2 and 2.3, that method worked. It was in that format.
However, with the release of JB; (ICS never had it right) its more of achange on framework files;
I'm guessing its a framework.apk that needs to be modified;
if its a jar file, i can simply make an extension; but i'm guessing also that there is more than that..

With the next release? (21st one?)
UVMC6 bit was added last release on the 14th but the framework for Wi-Fi calling wasn't right.
I am hoping he updates it. LOL i'm so even willing to pay his team for it lol

It's my understanding there is quite a bounty for the first developer to build the feature you are looking for. Wifi-Calling is so baked into the tmo roms that countless developers have tried to port/transfer/recode/bla bla bla it over to AOSP/AOPK, etc. and still haven't got it working. However, the code or theory on how to do it is available here https://code.google.com/p/the-ims-open-source-project-for-android/. I also would be using Embryo 6.11 if the wifi calling worked. As stated before Embryo 6.11 was build from a native att rom it will never have wifi calling. Even though the apk was move over, wifi calling is in so many different .apks and frameworks and jars. Some of those files I'm sure you can just copy over like SecMms.apk but the developer of Embryo modified so man files that it's not feasible. There was talk of him rebaseing Embryo on UVMC6 but as far as I know he hasn't done that yet. Now with the Galaxy S5 out, I really don't expect many developers to continue working on the aging Galaxy S2.

Just not possible to port it to aosp ROMs. Has to be touchwiz, for the s2 anyway. So jelly bean 4.1.2 was the last official update, and last with WiFi calling.

Thanks for the note - that makes sense. I was wondering why WiFi calling was conspicuously absent.
Just retired my Tmobile S2 / Jedi Mind Trick and purchased a new Tmobile S3 LTE. Just rooted it and put on CWM.... Which ROMS have the following.
1.WiFi Calling and MMS
2.Good Battery Life
3.Silky Smooth and Lighting Quick
4.Plenty of Free Memory
5.Bloatware free
Thanks
All Roms based on the Samsung Touchwiz Framwork will support WiFi Calling. So try S3Rx by @enewman17 or StockMod by @saranhai. Eitheer way, I suggest flash KT747 Kernel for Touchwiz.
In my opinion, (and this can be debatable.) AOSP Roms have more free Ram and slightly better battery life. However they will never support WiFi calling. Let me know if you want to explore that.
I found this thread in search before asking the same question.
Not all touchwiz based ROMs support Wifi calling. Read posts 31 and 32 in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735506&page=4
I am having a hard time finding the best ROM for my needs. I have to have wifi calling. I have tried several, and really like the KitKat based AICP, but that doesn't do wifi calling, so I started looking for Touchwiz based ROMs, but can't find a good stable one that works well FOR ME.
To rephrase Perseus' statement, only Touchwiz roms based on T-Mobiles firmware will have wifi calling.

Yup. That makes it far more difficult to sort them out.
I am going to try out StockMOD Rom now.
Most TW roms are built from a tmobile base. If not it should specify [PORT] in the title and/or OP.

Hi, I am new here to trying to figure out how to enable mobile hotspot/tethering and wifi calling with my SGH-T999L(t-mobile, prepaid 5GB data).
My phone(ver. 4.3) is rooted by Odin method with root66_TMO-L_T999LUVUBNC1.tar.md5 file. And superSU(ver. 1.94) was automatically(?) installed during the rooting but never used it since. Anyway, this was my very first dealing with phone software; I have never experienced rooting/flashing before. Please bear with my ignorant terms and questions...
q1. Isn't there any reasonably safe ROM to enable tethering?
q2. Can I flash the custom ROM with Odin, same process as my rooting but just change the MD5 file?
q3. Do I need to configure my phone before or after the custom ROM flashing for tethering?
when I rooted, I did not make any recovery. I had no clue about Knox counter before and still don't know where and how to check Knox counter with my phone.. I have just followed YouTube "safe rooting methods for s3" without much knowledge. How lucky my phone is not a brick now!!
1. Any of the Custom AOSP Roms will have tether built in. If you want to keep stock Touchwiz, you will have to use some Tether app from Play store.
2. Yes and no. You first flash custom Recovery with Odin. Same process except different file. Then you flash custom roms (which are in zip format) via the custom Recovery. A custom Recovery is TWRP, CWM or Philz Touch.
3. Usually yes after the custom rom is up and running. Just a few click to turn it on or customize to your preferences. No Rocket science there.
Knox Counter or Warranty Bit is displayed when you put the phone in download mode. If its zero that means its not set. If its 1 then you tripped it.
Is there any Tmobile based TW ROM that has HALO? If not, is there a good add on or app for notifications? Halo was one of the things I really liked about AICP. It seems possible, as Slimbean says it doesn't include HALO by choice.
It seems that all the ASOP ROMs are KitKat. Since KitKat is on the way to Tmobile S3 at some point. When that happens, will it allow ASOP type ROMS with Wifi, or am I mixing up several concepts?
HALO is a feature introduced by AOKP Developer community. Hence it is found only in Roms that are based on that code base such as PAC MAN. Other ROMs particularly Stock touchwiz will never the feature as is. Samsung did introduce something similar called floating Notifications that some liked but most did not. They base on Google's code so the AOKP code will never make it into Samsung Stock. However, I do recall there was bounty on Verizon's forum for bringing HALO to Touchwiz. Don't know what happened to it. I don't use touchwiz.
Speaking of all these terms, you indeed are mixing quiet a few things. AOSP Roms, based either on Google's code or CM's code will never use anything from the AOKP fork. This is by design. If you want to know why, you will have to understand the difference between AOSP and AOKP. Google is your friend.
I recall Liquidsmooth at one point in the 4.3 code had introduced HALO. Don't know if it continued or not. I do know, with the significant code changes to Kitkat, these prior features are not working and the developers are working to port them over. Its a matter of time. Speaking of which, all Custom Roms do have a 4.3 variant. Its just that users want the latest and greatest so you won't see much discussion of the 4.3 now. But it sure does exist.
After you accept Stock Kitkat update, I am sure you can continue to flash custom Kitkat Roms. Who knows, they might have moved to Key Lime Pie by then. But I don't think I understood the question. Are you referring to the Tether or WiFi hotspot ?
I was referring to wifi caling. That is a make or break feature for me. I found a few ROMs that were head and shoulders above TW (FOR ME), but because of lots of steel and concrete structures in my AO I really need wifi calling. I looked into multiboot, but I would have to toggle back and forth too much to make it work.
Wi Fi calling can and only will work with Samsung's Stock Touchwiz. So since that's critical to you, I'd suggest sticking with the stock Rom and Root it if needed. Once Rooted you can remove the bloat to make it more viable. You can also use the KT747 Kernel for Touchwiz. That will allow you to get better battery life.
As to your HALO wish, I guess, you'd have to stick with floating notification and Multi Window features Samsung has. You could try some of the ports of Xposed frameworks. But be cautious to make sure it does not break something else.

Thank you very much. :good: Really sorry to bother you but more Qs..
1. When you say stock Touchwiz, does that mean the file I flashed for rooting? root66_TMO-L_T999LUVUBNC1.tar.md5
I have also tried many Tether apps found from google store and none of them worked. They just brings me to T-mobile error message.
2. Beyond tethering, I also like to have WIFI calling function although wifi calling is not as important as tethering for me. Benz said StockMOD works for WIFI calling. So, I was thinking about to flash StockMOD for my custom ROM as long as it will also work for tethering... Do you know whether it works for tethering? If so, would you tell me where I can find StockMOD? By the way, is StockMOD a custom ROM?
3. Did I really screw up my phone warranty? Ouch,,, I have just checked the message on download mode of my phone. It says following:
product name: sgh-t999L
custom binary download: no
current binary:Samsung Official
System Status: custom
DualDomm Secure Boot: enable
Warranty Bit: 1
Bootloader AP Swrev: 1
Any unusual status you notice beyond warranty Bit? Is this saying my phone is rooted? Frankly, I am still not confident to say my phone is rooted.. AGain, thank you very much for your help.:good::good:
Touchwiz is the name of samsungs launcher and modifications they made on top of Android. So whem you see stock, tw, or touchwiz its referring to the official firmware from samsung. Touchwiz based, tmobile roms are the only ones with wifi calling.
The warranty bit is tripped. No way around this if you plan to flash anything anymore. But yes, your warranty is now void im afraid...

Requirements are latest android (4.3 or higher) stable, fast, all working including wifi calling, mhl tv out , gps , wifi etc
any advise would be appreciated!!
forgot to add, need s pen working as well
S.W.A.R.M Rom is probably the latest T-Mobile Custom Rom. Im not sure if the Downloads are still available.
But...if you dont really need WiFi calling then you can try the Rom I released... its called Test Rom 1.2 nothing to fancy but its stable Test Rom 1.2 Link
Or you can flash DN3 found in the AT&T Development Thread.. or DN4 in the N7105 Development Thread (not to be confused with the N7100)
I'm using alliance rom,it's stable and it does have a lot of user options, i have tmo t889 and it's running really nice. Here is the link. Good luck.
