try clearing camera data.

Last night a friend's Galaxy S III was doing the same thing (though usually it was every second photo that would crash the camera). I had thought it was maybe a defective SD card, but it did the same thing when storing photos to the main memory. Rebooting didn't help either. As a temporary measure we installed CameraMX on it which worked in a pinch.
They were on 4.0.4 though, and after running the update to 4.1.1 today they said the default camera app was working again. Of course, I didn't think of clearing data for the camera app before running the update, so maybe that would have fixed it too.
My Galaxy S III was working fine though.

*It is crashing on me almost every time I snap a picture. The second I snap a pic, it does its loading screen, freezes, and then exits out of the app, and brings up the notification that it crashed and I can submit info. I have since deleted and reinstalled a few times, and keep getting the same result. Was wondering if anyone else using instagram is having this issue, or if it is a problem with the phone. Thanks

Has anybody else experienced this? I dunno if its because my hand isnt steady enough or whatnot, but I seem to get alot of blurry pics. More than I used to on my GS2. Running Jedi X rom. Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.
Verified if the focus is working. Bcse i haved the same problem and thevguy in the store told me the phone was defectuos. So they exchange for another to me.

This happened to me a few weeks ago. Ive read on the forum that there might be a bad image file thats causing the gallery app to keep running. So what I did is I delete all the pictures I have on tje phone and started fresh. Since then I havent seen gallery took so much of off the battery.

What I did is first go to manage apps. Head down to media storage and clear data. Reboot phone. See if that works. If not then I have backed up both sd cards to pc. Cleared both and formatted them and put it all back on reboot the phone and ur golden.

Ok so I have formatted sd card as well as did a hard reset on my phone. This seems to work for now. I will report if the gallery starts acting up again. Thanks guys.My battery is doing much better today.

I have a rooted unlocked tmo galaxy s3, currently running infamous 4.5. Haven't had any problems with it until today, twice now it's frozen upon rotation. Anyone else having this problem? Either with or without this rom, thanks in advance...

Update, happened again, seems to be happening when screen rotates, and them times out while in landscape...

Turn off screen rotation lol problem solved
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Need more info; it could be a kernel issue, an app issue, or a user error on the way you installed the rom...
Followed Jamison's instructions to the letter, full wipe, 3x for everything, with the kernel in his rom, I did turn off screen rotation for now, no problems since. Doesn't matter what app is running at the time, home screen, gmail, and messenger are what froze. It's didn't do it on 4.4, just on 4.5. Anything else that might ad helpful, let of know.

The only other option I would suggest is redownload and rewipe everything and don't restore stuff.
I'm using the same ROM and tried rotate with many different apps and experienced no lock ups. I too suggest you reflash again with full wipe
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
I'll try that later on, and like I said, only freezes if it times out while rotated to one of the sides

Think I figured it out, I'm using the aosp lock screen and somehow the ripple effect got turned back on, was still freezing after wipe, let's see if this works. Lol. Tested it a few times and no freezes yet.

Do you get any kind of error message when trying to start the app?
Sent from the rabbit hole.
No, it starts up, ask you which type you want, mobile,HD, etc etc, it's the mobile one that crashes, also just seen in the market comments it is happening to other people.hope it gets fixed,
