I bought this here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008KED6WW/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
it works flawlessly...plug it in to the charger port(it has to be plugged in to work), and plug the other micro sd cable into your phone, and anything on your phone will appear on the television....I then took a S-jack to S-jack(small plug like on your headphones) and plugged it into the phone, and the other end into my tv's audio input...go into the tv menu...select the HDMI imput you plugged into, and select the audio input to On and I was good to go...audio and video...you could also plug your s-jack into your home theater or something as well...hope this helps...Larry

This is precisely the answer... standard MicroUSB > HDMI adapters do not work. The key is to get an "MHL" adapter.

Can someone please tell me if you can stream youtube like that, also if it can work on dvi screen, of course with hdmi to dvi adapter.

[Q] sg3 tv out?

HI, i bought an tv out cable yesterday and i didn't thin that will it work on my device, so i'd like to know if you guys have any experience.
Sorry for my english =}
tv out? what? what kinda of cable? micro usb to tv?
Please report if it will work, thanks
tv-out
i mean an rca cable, red, yellow, white. Its plugged into the 3,5mm port
i think i will receive it tomorrow so i will report if it works
the galaxy 3.5mm jack is only for sound.
you cant get any video from it.
if you connect it to your tv only sound will be heard.
i dont really know if micro usb to tv out works but i seriously doubt that it does.
there is a micro hdmi port for tv out on some phones or some other proprietary port.

there is just one option - if your TV set playes avi / divx / movie files from USB port, then you can use your mobile as a USB drive. That's all. No TV mirroring.
there is no tv out option in our galaxy 3..... it will work only if the hardware supports...... so waste of trying that.....
dommage is
No TV out
Galaxy 3 doesn't have a TV out.

buy a tv samsung and use DLNA service i have one and SG3 + router + tv ([email protected] wireless) and everything works very very well
I have movies on your computer and share across the home network with the program for samsung, I can watch the movies on TV and in sg3, can also control the sg3 the movies I see on TV, very good and practical, when I talk about movies, I speak of pictures too of course
Without even looking or thinking, I can say that no, It's not possible to get a TV out signal from SG3
it could be a nice feature but i think it doesn't work.
not possible but can use Samsung's All Share or similar app for streaming media right?
rca on one end and 3.5mm jack with 4 contacts on the other is for sound only. white + red is for left + right channel output and yellow would be for microphone IN (just like your headphones that came with SG3). NO VIDEO OUTPUT FOR SURE!
what's your report???

I got the OEM MHL to HDMI adapted from Amazon for $14. You need your own separate HDMI cord...I saw a few adapters that go straight to an extended 6' HDMI cable but this is fairly small and compact.
Unfortunately there's no such thing as wirelessly streaming your phone's screen over Wi-Fi to your TV so the only downside is that you have to be in a physical proximity with your TV
Also, it's a great thing if your TV has a USB service input. I'm not sure if this is just my TVs but I need to connect my data cable to the adapter, as well as the TV for the phone to mirror itself on my television. Basically it needs an external power source to run its course.

I'm not 100% on this but thought I read somewhere our phone has
DLNA built in? Which if your TV has it too will allow wireless streaming of certain material.I doubt would transfer your home screen for texting but can stream videos you've shot with your phone. Usually fuzzy pic thou, I tried I couple times when I had the sensation.

You can also connect with DLNA to an xbox or ps3 and stream videos and music from your phone that way. It works great with my SGSII and my Amaze.

MHL problem?

Finally bought the expensive mhl adapter for the s3 and after hooking up my phone to my samsung px2370 1080p monitor, I don't like what I'm seeing. The picture looks really fuzzy and reminds me of interlaced output. Plus my monitor is reporting a resolution of 1920x1079. Anyone experiencing the same problem?

Im thinking its because I'm rooted to be honest, it works by shutting off the device first then plugging everything in then turning it on and it's supposed to pick up from there but nothing happens. The same with my One S.

You're saying it works, but it doesn't work?? Are you using the official s3 mhl adapter?

+1 mine is perfect full HD 1920x1080 says on screen .. worked when stock, now rooted and even after mod .. bet it's not an original do a search model # and compare

It might just be my pc monitor. I can't even get it to work with my computer via hdmi (dvi works though, as well as with my 360 and ps3). The adapter looks legit to me. I'll be trying it on a different tv and/monitor in a bit

I bought the new MHL adapter as soon as it was available from Samsung. Output from applications like Netflix is reduced quality, this is intentional by the Netflix app. If you play a HD movie, you will see the quality is very good.
My only problem was lag. It looked good, but it was the equivalent of playing a video game with a framerate of around 20 FPS, it made gaming impossible and movies frustrating. I was told it may be my MHL adapter, but I haven't gotten a new one yet.
Saying it's the adapter is the easy answer. I have one that works perfectly on almost any LCD TV I have tried, but on LCD monitors, I have issues usually. I have used it with an HDMI to DVI cable, and got the exact result you described. I think it has something to do with the monitor not recognizing the native output. I haven't used it on an HDMI monitor.
I can confirm it works quite well on almost all TV's.
Ok I think I know what the problem is now. Seems like the s3 only outputs tp 1080i, that explains the flickering and fuzziness on my Led monitor. Is there no mod or hack to at least make it output at 720p instead (since 1080p would probably be to demanding)? Why would samsung stick to just 1080i? Was it the same with previous phones like the s2?

Now that I'm on the puter it's gonna be easier to explain, I bought a T-Mobile MHL kit when
I got the HTC One S and rooted the device but for some reason it wouldn't work with it so
about a month after I had the One S I bought the GS3 and rooted it (still have both) and
tried it with this one and still nothing.
I was told by a few that it might not work on a rooted device but after doing the research it
seems that I'm the only one having this problem but I figured trying it on a different device
should show something, I'm at the point now that I'm sure it's the MHL kit and not a root
problem.
AFAIK only 1 cable/adapter exists that works with the s3 and its an official samsung product. Previous mhl adapters won't work due to a change in pin layout to the connector so if you bought one that isn't marked for the s3, the most likely isn't compatible and won't work. Even official s2 mhl adapters won't work

It figures, I should just restore the One S to stock or sell it but on another note I just posted a tutorial for anyone interested on how to use the GS3 and the PS3 as a media server, connections and settings if you have a PS3 already. In the T-mobile general section.

I747 video connected to pioneer avh 3300bt

So after searching through all forums on the internet and couldnt find anything I finally came up with a way to connect my galaxy s 3 to my Pioneer DVD head unit to display video. I bought the all share cast dongle and connnected a hdmi to composite converter then ran my yellow/red/white composite cables to the back of my pioneer avh 3300bt and it works great video displays flawlessly and 100% Wireless from phone to head unit. Use all share cast option on gs3 now my screen is mirrored on my head unit screen. I will post pics tom.

Awesome.
I have an HTC EVO 4G LTE and an HTC Media Link HD.
I just installed a Pioneer x2500BT, and totally let down at the lack of interoperability for Android.
Pandora works fine. BT audio works fine. Of course, USB and DVDs no problem. Just all the "apps" they say work - don't.
I walked by my Media Link HD collecting dust and briefly thought, "Hrm, wonder if I could use that." and kept on trucking. Didn't think about HDMI to composite... hrm, but that leaves me in a dilemma ... what if I want to play from my Transformer Prime.. it has HDMI out... hmmm... some more to think about.
Most MHL cables require a power source, correct? Just thinking of options.
And I love AllShare on the PS3 - good stuff.
heh, thanks for the info!

[Q] Anyone using an MHL hub with the L900 Note2?

I saw one of these cool looking "MHL hub" devices for sale on eBay for between 10 and 15 dollars and was wondering if anyone has had any luck with them on the L900 Note2. I ask because I know the domestic versions of these devices often have many features locked out or missing (FM radio, tv-out, etc.).
Also, for those people who have confirmed they work, does using it just as a card reader require that external power be connected? Does using the HDMi output feature require power be connected? Can HDMi output, the card reader, and the usb slot be used simultaneously or can they only be used one at a time? Lastly, will such a unit fit a Note2 with an otterbox defender?
Thanks.

mhl/HDMi
Any updates on this?
I would guess no one has used it. What I can answer for you is that hdmi always requires power. I would think that everything would work at once (my hdmi dock hub does) like a normal usb hub. Now would it work with your case. That would depend on how much room you have when you connect usb.

So it would probably require the adapter or a usb cable hooked up to work. I can live with that, thanks for the input.

I have bought a smart dock but It didn't work well for my phone. I then tried it on my sisters
S4 and it worked a bit better. At times it would glitch and the TV would blink on and off. I haven't tried this one yet im tempted to pull the trigger but not yet. I bought an MHL adapter which works much much better, and yesterday I finally got my bluetooth keyboard and mouse and they both work wonderfully. I haven't used them together( I dont have two sets of triple A batteries :/..)

Everything running at once hdmi, mouse, keyboard, and usb drive all at once. Kinda need at least a mouse (on official media hub anyways) cause the phones screen turns off. The digitizer still functions but kinda difficult with no display.
