Yes this is normal. Android and sense do a very good job of managing tasks so don't worry about it.
You can check apps in the settings menu for any apps that are running constantly, its the running apps tab...
This is what you should keep an eye on.

Hi.
I'm running my wildfire on CM 7.0 , I have to reboot my phone about 1 time per day , because it becomes so laggy and can't run any app on it , so I reboot it , it's not a big program but it takes about 20 minutes to full reboot and load all the programs .
I'm thinking to get back to the Froyo ROM if it helps solving the problem.
Any ideas ?
Thanks.

Try to flash the newer CM 7.1 RC1, or get a task manager/killer
I use 2 apps to keep my phone running smooth, 1st one is advanced task killer, don't use the auto kill just open the app and kill the useless apps when you're lagging. Much faster than killing apps with the built in task manager, and 2nd is fast reboot pro which doesn't kill anything or reboot the phone, it just stops and restarts all your running apps freeing up a lot of the memory that is sat idle. I swear by these 2 apps they keep my phone running sweet, and I've never had a problem while using them.

I use both : a GO Launcher task killer , and fast reboot which just reboots the phone and the apps , not like you said.
P.S : what rom are you using?

I'm using jokerdroid atm but there's a few things I don't like about it nothing major just cosmetic, thinking of going back to either wildpuzzle or hellfire.

And I really don't want to fully reset the device so soon. I have a sneaky suspicion it may be due to the clock with weather ...Any other ideas?

Hi friends,
Happy to post my 1st thread in XDA
Last friday got my HTC one V (had to wait for 10 long days to get it from homeshop18 ) Played a lot with the new features and enjoyed it.
Phone runs stock ICS and not rooted.
There are 2 thnings I noticed.
1)I noticed that while coming back to home screen(either by pressing home button or by pressing back button) from one open application e.g. Calculator, it loads the home screen with some dalay(1-2 seconds). But if I come to home screen from list of applicaitons(not from any open application), it loads the home screen without any delay. I checked this behavior with galaxy s and sl where i din't notice any such delay. But one thing I noticed that when I press home button from any app say, calculator, it actually closes the application and loads the home screen but in galaxy s and sl, it loads the home screen without closing the appln. You can find it running in background in task manager. Is this the reason for the dalay in HTC one v?
2)When connecting the phone with HTC Sync Manager in my DELL Inspiron 1545, it says "Device Unavailable" , but it works fine in compaq laptops.I Googled it to know that it is a known issue but no resolutions found
I hope friends in XDA has some suggestions for the 2 probs.
sometimes it happens to me,first time it happened I did a factory reset so everything became good.2nd time it happened I removed all apps on homescreen, and changed settings in developer options to original..that's allll

Hi donhashem,
the reason for the lag was due to the fact that the OS closes/destroys all the activity as soon as the user leaves it. This setting can be on/off from Settings>developer options>Apps>Don't keep activities[On or Off].
Hope this will help you or any one tackling the problem by not doing a factory reset.
cheers!!
Yeah, thanks that's what I did the 2nd time it happened to me

Hi!
The upgrade to firmware 2.09.720.1 is available now in India.
Go to Settings->About->Software Updates.
Not sure if it will solve your problem, but makes the phone noticeably faster.
What's a good task manager that works well, I've tried a few but haven't found something I like yet. Anyone got advice.
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
if your thinking of a task manager like a task killer dont use one, really a bad idea for android. if you must use something like watchdog so you dont blindly kill apps. even then when things are set up the way you like it and your sure all is well, i would suggest freezing watchdog as it sits in background itself and wastes cpu.
just do a little google search and youll see what im talking about
Ok, thanks. I'm still learning my way around this ROM and all its bells ans whistles. For some odd reason though I use up a lot of RAM. I have to go and kill apps manually.

Your definition of a lot may differ from mine, this Rom has a supercharger script built in, this along with androids ability to choose what apps to kill is the best way to go. You may have some bad apps that have memory leaks or wake locks. Use watchdog to spy on those and remove them if necessary

Press the track ball in the recent apps to kill all apps in a safe and effective way.
So the title says it all. After ~1h of use my one x runs out of ram while not using it for cache or apps. I realize that unused ram is wasted ram but what is happening to me is definitely not normal. After a while after reboot all apps immediately closes after use, app drawer including. I can barely start keyboard. And settings shows that there is no cached processes which is unusual. I'm using icj 3.8. Any advice would be appreciated

Tried a different ROM or kernel? Perhaps Sense as opposed to AOSP?
That's definitely not normal.
No, but before this the rom worked well. I want to keep changing the rom or cleanly reinstalling it as the last resort option, because it is the most time consuming.

Then it's likely down to a specific app with a memory leak.
Start working backwards and uninstall apps one at a time until it goes away again.
Wouldn't that show in settings running apps and services? I tried stopping all and using task killer but that didn't help

Not necessarily.
You can shut down the app itself and remove it from the list, but it's possible the leakage is remaining memory resident.
Thanks didn't think it was possible
