Hey Guys,
i would like to ask if there's an Application to use my S3 as a Keyboard for my Samsung Smart TV. I used the App from Samsung but you only can use it as a normal remote.
I've found that "smart remote" is the best for me

Does the smart remote app support the s3's 720p resolution?

Find samsung smartview app on xda several big threads. The app from Samsung app store sucks. Search whole xda. Depending on your tv model you also have dual screen option. On newer models 7500 series and up. Last year 7000 series and up. I have it but can't find where I left the apk. Note keyboard only works in browser. Once you're in Netflix for example its back to remote typing. Same happens with blue tooth keyboard. It's up to the app it seems to offer support.

Some versions do. Using 3.2.0 smartview version currently without stretching or parts being cut off.
Tried several smart remotes also without problems and few that did not show well.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the SmartShare app that comes with LG phones to work with the S3? Just got an LG smart TV and want to use this feature. I did find an APK, but it just force closes after installation with the message 'manufacturer not match'
I'm not sure on the implications of this and I would check but I suppose you could alter thebbuil prop to saybthis is an lg phone and not a Sammy.
Check first as I have no idea of it's problems etc

No it never will and never was! Works with LG's verry well, don't get the OP's point why he wants the SmartShare app if AllShare can do the same...
DLNA is a standard so should work with ALL DLNA capable products!
Only screen mirror and that kind of (non_DLNA) functions will work per brand...
I actually find BubbleUPnP better than AllShare too as you can assign a different video player app - take a look at that if you're not a fan of AllShare.

No Allshare app is only for Samsung devices for now. Samsung wants to include other brands too eventually but for now all Samsung devices can be connected thru it. My LG smart tv is not recognized on it and just like allshare, LG has their own Smartshare. OP can still use DLNA directly on S3 to connect his TV but allshare would only work with Samsung devices
I have actually patched the manufacturer check but it crashes on my Nexus 7... I will share apk here so you can test it on your device.
NOTE: I do not think this is going to work on any device exept LG becouse of some kernel modules that are developed by LG and included only in their phones.
Does not works :crying:

So I just installed 4.2 on my i747 today. How does Miracast work? I have a Samsung 55D6500 tv that has built in wireless.
Does the phone support it?

The TV has to support DLNA.... Install Allshare on your phone... If the TV doesn't support DLNA, then it's not gonna happen...

Before you can even do Miracast, I believe CyanogenMod needs to support it, I haven't seen anything in Gerrit to support that Miracast has been added into 4.2 yet.
In theory there also has to be Miracast support for your device released (which Samsung has released, but I guarantee you that the drivers for it are closed source or outdated like everything else Samsung seems to do with the development community.) Keep in mind, just because it is supported by the OS doesn't mean it is supported by your phone. If it was Stock 4.2 (Samsung Stock) on your SGSIII then yes, Miracast would be implemented. Since it isn't, CyanogenMod has no obligations, nor guarantees that they will include that.

Except, that's not true. Some newer TV's support WiFi Direct screen mirroring, his TV might support it (I didn't look it up) if it does support the WiFi Direct Screen Mirroring (WiDi, now known as Miracast) then Samsung's Mirroring software would work if his device was stock, same thing with an LG Nexus 4 also running stock, or a Laptop.

Ahhh... not sure why I would use that, but sounds cool... I guess have a movie playing mirrored to the TV?
Sorry I provided mis-info I thought he just wanted to stream to the TV... and I know it's OT, but I've found the best way to stream to the TV is having a DLNA supported router... I would still need Allshare on my phone, but not the computer, only the Media Center stuff....
Yeah my TV supports DLNA. I used to be able to stream pictures and video to my TV when I was on stock TW. Now that I flashed the latest CM10.1, wondering if it's possible to Miracast. Sounds like cm doesn't it support it... Yet.

Think about it like this, say you have a movie on your phone that you want to bring to your Buddy's house, but he doesn't have it, and his TV supports MiraCast....BAM, push the movie to the TV, everyone can watch on a large screen.
Or say you have a presentation on your phone, and the TV supports Miracast, no longer are you locked in one place by your laptop, but you can wirelessly stream the presentation to your projector.

That Allshare app is just a control point. The Actual AllShare app for DLNA requires TW frameworks which don't exist in CM. For DLNA/UPnP use BubbleUPnP. If you want to just push music look into DoubleTwist.

I was wondering if their are any good Remote Apps for the IR blaster with its own TV guide. I tried the Smart TV but it doesnt seem very user friendly. At least not compaired to my last Phone HTC M8 the stock remote app for that was awesome. Is their anyway i could just find the APK for the HTC remote or would that even work. Thanks for anyone who responds. I appreciate your time.

I use smart remote, it has WAY more features than I even need (you can even create macro commands, chaining them together to one button push. No TV guide though. I looked and couldn't find HTC actual apk for their remote software. It might require root to install it even if you had it, but I don't think so.

I use Smart Remote as well. I do have TV Guide. Works Excellent.
There are several apps that have smart remote in the name, Which one are you using?
The 6.99 one has the best reviews.
I use anymote I think it is the best out there however it is quite pricey for the premium version but I definitely think it was worth it. The ability to customize your own remote to have the volume go up and down on your stereo system, channel buttons for your cable box, power for your TV, turn on your ac all on one easy to use remote is great.
PS don't work for the company I just hated watch on.

I cannot believe that nobody wants to use a tab s in combination with a Samsung tv!
I have an 10.5" and a Samsung smart TV, where do i get smart view from.
John.
I seemed to have it in the past, but can also no longer find it. I have both a S 8 and S10, and neither view it as a working title. I searched high and low to find out why, and it seems that it no longer can connect to newer Samsung TV sets. The iOS app works great, so its really annoying that my brand new samsung tablets cannot connect to my brand new samsung TV's, despite the fact that my much older iPhone 6 and iPad Air2 can connect without issue.
I did find a lot of people saying SmartView was also killed off for WatchOn. But, opening watchon on a brand new tablet gets an error about not being able to connect to the server. After doing some more digging, it appears Samsung killed this app/service at the end of 2014. So, if anyone has any ideas as to what I can use as a replacement, then please let me know, as this is the last missing piece for my Smart Home controller
I cannot find an Samsung app, I thought it was called allshare, I did download an app called "play to samsung" and it does work with my tv to an extent.
EDIT: Try This.

John.
Allshare allows you to send data from your mobile to your TV (videos, pictures, music). Smart view does the opposite and is sending your TV screen to your mobile.

There are 2 versions:
Smart View 2.0
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.companion
SmartView 1.0
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.smartview.tz
Just give them a try
None of these versions is working on the tab s. That's a shame, cause the only reason to have a Samsung tab was smart view and my TV at home. If I had known that Samsung apps are not working on a Samsung tab, I had choosen definitly a tab from another manufacturer.
I tried also the customized versions you can find using google or here in the forum.
Did you read the link i posted earlier showing you have to activate the feature in the setting menu.
John.
Yes, I saw your link, but I think, you didn't read my postings: allshare allows you to browse content on your phone using your TV.
Smart view allows the other way and is able to send the TV signal to your mobile device.
You can follow the TV program that way in another room than your TV is localized. That is the feature I am searching for. You cannot do that using allshare.

Remote Control works using Smart View 1.0 with T800 but nothing shows up in dual view. It works fully with T520. I do not have the 8.4. (I had to use my smartphone to download a copy of SmartView 1.0, send it to dropbox then download/install in tablet).
Same here, remote control works with several versions, but no dual view...
