Hi, I'm note 2 user and I have problem with kies update. I got this statement on kies "your device does not support software upgrading via kies", what does it mean ? I assume that it means I couldn't update through kies, is that ?. Please advice me.

Are you rooted or on different roms? OR are you stock EVERYTHING?
It just means there aren't any updates available yet.
Nope nvr root it before it's original rom

This is correct. I plug my phone in maybe once a week to the computer just to check for new firmware, rather than OTA which could take a while to get pushed as they're two different delivery methods. My phone always says the current firmware and the phone firmware and that I'm on the current firmware.
Have you chanced your csc? Or anything like that? Different radio? Camera rom?

It seems like your CSC is not matching with your installed firmware... I had same problem... Going to recovery mode and wiping the data solved the problem. So if you are okay with wiping data, you may go ahead with this option.
:good:
You either don`t have the correct software version for your country or the OS is modified (rooted).

I bought the dev in Singapore and now I'm in Indonesia but I thought the update is universal. And I'll never root my phone till the warranty end, I did format my note 2 on the day I bought it because there are some apps from the carrier so I just wanna wipe it out.

I'd give you instructions on how to change your csc or check it at least but if you haven't changed it then it should be fine.
I can say I did have this problem once and to fix it I updated Kies and I also tried it on another pc just to verify. I forgot which worked. But try both!

Don't believe this is an update. This is simply the stock firmware that came with the phone. It might come in handy if/when something goes terribly wrong and a backup won't fix your issue.

I'm not exactly sure if this is the stock tar or not.....
BUT if it is, you should be able to just restore your stock nandroid and pull out the recovery file and put that in the pda slot of odin.
Or just put the entire tar in the pda slot... looking for some confirmation on this

I'm just concerned about whether that Device Status field in the About Phone settings is something that is stored underneath the OS and can't be changed once you flash something. This would be an easy indicator that the phone has been messed with and clear void of warranty for normally clueless reps even if you do a return to stock type flash. Before I rooted, it said "Factory Mode“ but now says "Modified“. I haven't touched anything else other than flashing CWM and Superuser.
Hey guys
I recently rooted my Galaxy Note II but now that the multi-screen update is out I want to unroot it to be able to update my mobile phone. How can I do so without re-flashing my device? I also looked for the newer build that contains the multi-screen functionality but I couldn't find the one for my region (UAE). So please if anybody finds it please post the link because I think it would be so much easier and faster...
I am afraid I was on the same position like yours and I did unroot, just go to SU and select the option to Unroot and SU will be uninstalled and your device will be unrooted for sure but some trace will still be there and device status will stay as 'Custom'. Even if you use the Play Store version of Trinagle Away and reset the counters! To make it official either you have to perform a Full wipe, if that don't do it, then you have to re-flash the whole ROM.
Unless and until your device status and binary both are Official you WON'T be receiving any update via OTA or Kies.

Hi there
If you are rooted you can still get Over The Air updates so dont worry
You can find all stock ROMs here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696
And there is no need to Unroot to flash a newer version of stock ROM. Unroot or keep rooted, flashing a rom will have the same effect, and updare over the air will have sane effect :good:
Hit thanks if i helped
I can absolutely confirm no need to unroot - I rooted mine immediately I received it last week, after a couple of days it automatically updated ota to multiscreen.

And its also wrong that you will not get OTA update. Lol we even get OTA updates on totally customized Custom Roms but they cant be updated because of change kernel (and changes in rom ofc).
And lol he is quoting dr.ketan and saying that he is wrong. dr.ketan is a recognized contributor so he would be correct or this person? i stand and testify dr.ketan's statement

The S-Pen and touchscreen work with two different systems.
Appearently your touchscreen are either damaged, or the drivers are not working properly.
Perhaps try a factory reset, or download the latest firmware again?
i have tried that but when i type the code for hard reset with the dial pad it kept saying invalid code. >: i assume there isnt a way to download the drivers?

The only thing using Chainfire 3D could do is cause you to bootloop (as its not working on jellybean!).
It couldn't mess your touch screen.
Also nothing that CF3D does will survive a factory reset, and or full ODIN flash.

Hello, a couple of days ago I received a pop-up notification in my notifications bar that said an update was available for my device. This was on Wednesday. Since I was at school, I was unable to update at the time since I didn't have access to WIFI and had two tests to write. During my tests I had to turn off my phone. When I did, I guess the update disappeared because when I turned my phone back on it never came back! I tried going into "settings", "about", "software" and hitting "check for updates", but it just keeps checking for updates continuously and never actually finds one. I really want that update! How can I get it back?
I'm on Rogers, and my model number is I317M. Anything else you need to know, just ask. I really want my update back! Please help, and thank you in advance!
Maybe it was pulled by your carrier or Samsung.
Try kies to update. But you'll have to download the whole rom again then. Also you can try sammobile for latest rom.
If you are on pre dll7 do it asap.

Hello, thanks for your response. So if I try updating using Kies, I'll have to download my rom again (meaning I'd lose all my data)? I don't want to lose all my data! What is pre dll7? I'm actually on a rooted stock rom, does that make a difference? Sorry I just got this phone a couple of months ago, so I'm still new to it. Thanks!
Pre dll7 means the firmwares released before dll7 like dll4 and dll5 and all starting from a. No you won't loose data.
It's just like a normal update just you have to download the whole firmware of 1gig again.

I'm not sure since I lost the update before being able to check it out, but I'm assuming it is the "multi-window" feature that many other Samsung Galaxy Note II phones have recently received, as it was a software update. Has your phone received it yet?

Okay, so I should try clearing the data through the applications manager? You said both, but I saw you only mentioned clearing "software update" data, what do you mean? And I assume "ota" is the update, correct?
Why would having a rooted phone prevent me from receiving an update? When I had a Sony Xperia X10, it was rooted and I still received updates. I also have never heard of rooting impeding updates in any way. Was I misinformed??

Hi I recently just bought a Galaxy Note 2 and noticed it was on 4.1.1 JellyBean and know that there's suppose to be a 4.1.2 update out for the major Samsung phones. I went to Settings- About Device- Software Update- Check For Updates and it says "Current software is up to date". Anyone know what the problem could be?
Since your trying to update the stock firmware. You can just go to Sam mobile and grab it from there.
Go HERE:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Where is you'll just be putting an updated stock firmware!! Instructions are all there!
But you can also root the device then just flash you a custom AT&T 4.1.2 stock Rom and be good to go. And you'll be better than stock any day!

That doesn't have the 4.1.2 update. I've tried updating using Samsung Kies but it it shows like it's about to start updating and then the application forces close. I have no idea why the Kies application would be forcing close.
Try the date and time trick ..
Set the device date ahead 1 day and try the update again ..

Another question ...
Is the device completely stock ??

Phone was rooted and I unrooted it. Also I haven't setup the SIM card since the phone isn't unlocked not sure if that's the problem. When I tried again to update it said Software Update Interrupted try again in 48 hours blah blah blah.
Carrier detection may be part of the problem ...
And depending on the return to stock method you used ...
The device may have files or a dirty area that the update app doesn't like ...
If you are wanting to run the device fully stock ...then try the unroot again ...
I'm thinking it's dirty somewhere ...g

I doubt it's still rooted because under device status it says Normal which if I'm not mistaken means there's nothing wrong or tampered with. Maybe it's just that I have to unlock it before I can update it.

And depending on the return to stock method you used ...
The device may have files or a dirty area that the update app doesn't like ...
If you are wanting to run the device fully stock ...then try the unroot again ...
I'm thinking it's dirty somewhere ...g

I just had a Galaxy S3 which was T-Mobile and it let me get the 4.1.2. update no problem. Also I know the Galaxy S3 AT&T 4.1.2. update came out late august if I'm not mistaken and was regarded as a late update. So when did the Note 2 4.1.2. update come out?

After countless hours of searching and trying multiple different ways to update I realized I chose the wrong update file from stockroms. The phone was originally rooted and I unrooted it and when it came to choosing a rom to download from stockroms.net I chose the first one which I realized was the 4.1.1 stock rom. So I re-rooted it and then unrooted it intsalling the 4.1.2 rom and it worked and finally I have 4.1.2!!!
