[Q] Adjust brightness - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Hi
I just flashed MIUI rom on my wonder.
Then I noticed, I dont get the function to adjust my screen brightness via the status bar anymore.
So, is it possible to get that function in MIUI rom using any mod or whatever?
Thanks !

I've noticed that every time I flash a different custom ROM, *somehow* the auto brightness has been enabled which prevents the status bar brightness swipe from working. Check to see whether auto brightness has been enabled, if it has, none of the settings in the phone will disable it. What you're going to have to do is download an app called Battery Doctor and use it to disable auto brightness. Then you should be able to set up the swipe function in the normal way.....
This method worked for me.....
Don't forget the thanks button if this helped...

automated brightness control

Hi there, just wanna mention that i did search the forum, but didn't find an answer, just to be clear on that.
So, yesterday i got a desire, switched from a wildfire which i had for 2 months, there is a bit more power and fun to be had with a desire.
But as with the wildfire, i noticed that the auto brightness function isn't doing so well.
If i get up at night and it's all black in my room, the screen is way to bright, i have to use the power control to bring it down, but the downside is that it disables the auto brightness.
Is there anything that let's you tell auto brightness, if it's pitch black, brightness should be this low and so forth?
I've rooted and flashed with leedroid.
I'm running LeeDroid and I don't know if it's recalibrated or what, but it's definitely better than with the stock ROM.
Edit: Just saw I didn't read your post well enough and you've got LeeDroid as well, so my answer is not too helpful... sorry...
The Cyanogen ROMs have settings to adjust brightness.
This was one of the things that annoyed me about the desire.....so much that I decided to fully root this thing and do things my way lol
So I removed the stock ROM, Radio, HBOOT and Recovery and flashed some custom ROMs and now automatic brightness works JUST FINE ^^
Edit: Does leedroid come with automatic brightness settings?...hav u checked under the Display settings? becuase most of the ROMs that support automatic brightness needs to have it enabled and setup to work properly

Well, yes leedroid has automatic brightness, but as i mentioned, it's still too bright at night, i want to tell auto brightness that if i does not detect any light, it should turn the brightness as low as possible and so forth.
Do you turn the brightness down with power control you disable auto brightness and have to manually enable it again.
Even tho there is only one sensor, instead of having a preset value for different amount of light detected, it could be smarter.
Ex. auto brightness is on, it's dark, you go into brightness and turn it further down, phone asks you if you are turning it down because you think it's too bright, you click yes, phone learns that you want lower brightness when it's very dark, you click no, phone does nothing because you had another reason for adjusting brightness.
The next time, phone remembers that you want low brightness when it's dark, so you don't have to do it again.

Brightness control on notification bar

Is this only on certain launchers? Which ones have it?

any launcher.. just turn off automatic brightness.
If you turn off auto brightness, you can control the brightness by swiping left and right on the notification bar
On froyo I had to disable power saving mode under settings>display. Then the brightness setting on the power bar started to work for me.
Thx for the info

Still doesn't work for me
Can somebody put a screen shot of where I should swipe
Thx in advance

It's pretty much impossible to show in screenshot form since it would only show the screen itself not the swiped area, but the easiest explanation is to just touch the upper area enough for the beginning of the bar to come down then swipe either left for dimmer or right for brighter

Stock ROM - Turning off Auto Brightness

Is their a way to turn off auto brightness? It is very annoying seeing the brightness level change so rapidly and I can't believe SE haven't picked up on this problem.
How do you guys manage with it?
Search the market for "Disable Auto Brightness Xperia", you'll need root though!

Is it something you use? Do you notice the rapid brightness changing with autobrightness on to?
Thanks
Does anyone else notice the rapid changing of brightness?
Thanks
I dont have an automatic brightness option in display settings..

Because there isn't.
I was just about to say... Cause I'd have it on and I can safely say there's no option for it on STOCK... It's manual control.

[ION] Totally disable auto-brightness on Stock ROM?

Hi, guys.
As you'll already know, Xperia Ion Stock ROMs have no auto-brightness toggle on settings, apparently. And even if you use a 3rd party app to fix the brightness at a value, it keeps blinking around that value according to light sensor.
Light sensor has always been told to be such a battery-drainer, so here's my doubt:
Would it be possible to create a mod, app, flashable ZIP or something to disable that auto brightness feature at all?
Thanks in advance.
Lol? Light Sensor isn't battery drainer. You have wrong informations.

Light sensor constantly reads an input, that obviusly uses a substantial amount of battery.
Anyway, is there any toggle solution?
If you want to really disable it, try this -
0. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP (VERY IMP)
1. Use a root file manager and go to /system/etc
2. Open hw_config.sh
3. Search for this line - echo 1 > $dev/lcd-backlight/als/enable
4. Change 1 to 0, then save and reboot
5. Hopefully it should disable als now.
Thanks for the method! But wouldn't that disable brightness at all? I want brightness on, but light sensor-based automatic brightness disabled.
Greetings.

No no, you can adjust brightness in settings. It only disables the ALS sensor(Ambient Light Sensor). I have tested it myself.

in settings/display enable the adaptive brigthness,
that will activate the sensor.
after you set it and its dont change the brigthness values, make a reboot .
