Does it work properly for you guys?
Most of my pictures are geotagged but they do not appear on the map, only two of them appear and I don't understand why these appear and the others don't.
Any ideas?
*bump*
I've got 500 photos on the map, dating back a fair way (at least August).
Seems to be working fine for me. :good:
I removed the photos from the phone storage and copied them back and now they show up fine on the map.

I have an external gps that has worked great with my phone. I've recently tried http://trackr.nl and it can accurately capture my tracks as well. It says that it can supposedly geotag your pictures, but it doesn't worked for me. I've also tried http://shozu.com and it says that it can geotag, but apparently that option isn't available for Windows Mobile Standard smartphones. So I also tried http://locr.com (it would error out when I tried launching.)
I'm interested in an application that can geotag my photo when taken, so that when I upload it to Flickr using Shozu or some program like that, it will be automatically geotagged.
Has anyone found the best application for this? I know there are programs where you can first copy them over to your PC, then run some program that will compare it to your trail log and sync it with your date/time stamps on your photos. But I was hoping for something that would skip the PC.
Thank you,
Tim
I have had my HTC Desire (stock 2.1-update1 ROM) for a couple of months now and I'm enjoying all it's features. Especially the integrated Picasa tool. Take a photo, select share, then select Picasa and off you go. Great. Until recently.
Cannot find anyone else with this problem, so hoping someone has some ideas.
When I select the Picasa option for sharing, it brings up the usual Picasa upload options page that I am used to only very briefly (talking 0.5 seconds here) then quickly jumps to a screen asking me to create a google account!!! This is despite my phone sync'd perfectly with my Google account. E-mails pushing though, videos upload to youtube just fine. No sync errors at all.
OK I thought, I'll just sign back in with my existing Google account. Except when I do this, it spends a couple of minutes "signing in" only to then fail telling me that I do not have a network connection! This is despite trying my phone connected to wi-fi both at home, in my office, and whilst using 3G in strong signal area.
I think this all started after I accepted an OTA update taking my software number to 1.21.405.2. but I can't be certain as it was a week or so after updating before I noticed the problem.
I have Picasa Tool app installed, but personally I think its an ugly, badly laid out mess even though it does seem to work. I would rather fix what has happened to stop my phone uploading to Picasa directly.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance.
Sorry, can't help you with this but very interested as I have exactly the same issue. Also, as a google engined phone, why on earth have they made flikr & fb instantly available but not picasa You're right about the picasa tool pro too, functional but aesthetically it leaves a lot to be desired...see what I did there...
I have never used Picasa. But like 2 hours ago, I said why not and wanted to use it. To be greeted with the same problem. The account is active (gmail syncs without problem), everything goes ok... but it doesn't work.
Factory reset fixed it. OK, but not sure what I did to break it in the first place! Oh well.
It didn't work for me either. Yesterday I went from MCR r18 to stock Sense > r17 > r19 > r17 > r18. Suddenly, it got fixed.
You should make sure you actually have a picasa web account, and that you've uploaded at least one photo to it.
I've just got rid of my Omnia 7 out of frustration of its infancy and moved back to android, but one thing I miss is the automatic picture uploading to skydrive after you take a picture.
Annoyingly it compresses the image which peeved me to no end, but at least It had the option.
I know Google has Picasa but I get a measly 1GB of capacity compared to skydrive's 25GB.
Are there any decent (Private) apps or services that I can use to automatically upload my phones images to?
- What I mean by private is that nobody else can see them (or an option to set them to private).
N.B I take a lot of photos and I also don't want my new 8MP sensor to go to waste
You can try Dropbox, you only get 5GB though. Its not automatic but I'm sure you can make a profile with Tasker to do it for you..
Well I've just downloaded Titanium media sync which auto-syncs folders with Dropbox, but I only get 2GB (N) Oh well, it's better than nothing for now.
Edit: Sorami lets me access (somewhat) my skydrive account, but isn't automatic.
Hey Guys,
First time posting long time lurking. Right, get in it then he says... so here's my problem, and it's more an OCD one for me, BUT... Sony just shut down their SyncML service. Can access my contacts via the web, great, doesn't sync to my phone anymore. ****. Evidently, I'm pretty much the only person on the planet who was using it, heh, but I digress... I've lost all my full-screen images.
When I migrated all my contacts over to Googles sync service, I lost all the images and when I try to add them back in again, my Xperia keeps dumping them for Googles tiny ones in the top left hand corner (Tinypic syndrome)
Previously, using Sony's SyncML - I had all my contacts set-up with GLORIOUS full-screen pictures when I opened them up, now, they just look terrible. Is there anything I'm missing? I've searched forums and attempted a few things myself in-phone (have tried adding a picture from a folder and assigning to a contact) but it will only briefly show-up in the top 1/3 of the phone (not full screen) and then promptly dumps it for the low-res Google option.
Whats the fix?
I'm using:
Sony Xperia Arc
Model LT15i
Android vers 2.3.4
I have been having the same problem as well, still haven't found a proper solution to the problem...
The only way is to disable auto sync... as of now...
[Q] Note 4 Gallery Failure to update
So, how often does the gallery ap, or whatever cache it uses updating for new files?
I download a picture, and it refuses to show up until after I restart the phone.
Ideas?
So. Anyone? Repro:
Download image from external source. Web or Dropbox.
go to gallery app. Notice download gallery is not updated.
have to restart to get it to show up.
Can anyone even repro this? Hello?
SD card speeds?
Hello,
I would start by formatting your SD card and putting your pics back on the SD card. If you dont have a class 10 SD card then the gallery can be a pain.
I use a Samsung 64gb Pro MicroSD and it simply flies. After the first boot up.. never noticed a single refresh. Must have cached all my hundreds of pics as I can
now freely flow though my entire library at full speed with zero redraws. Hope this helps.
PS. Best Buy has the nice 64gb Samsung EVO microSD card on sale for $30 right now. That should be perfect.
That has nothing to do with this. "Havent noticed a refresh". What?
Anyway, the issue is that the gallery is NOT refreshing when new things are written to the card outside of camera photos. So downloaded photos do not show up. It has nothing to do with the SD card.
Thanks.
Good Luck then. Seems you are alone on this. Warranty replace maybe? Factory reset?

Do you have dropbox or picasa Web albums? I know on my phones , the gallery can become unusable because it wants to sync the 9000 pictures I have on drop box, another 6000 or so on picasa and a few thousand from favebook. I have my pictures set to auto upload, so they build up.
Anyway, the gallery automatically I'd set to sync those thumbnails, and the result is that my phone slows to a hault.
Turning off picasa and dropbox to sync in the gallery fixes it every time.
Nope he is not aloe. I have the same issue. And I bet you also have it.
Download a picture from dropbox to SD or externalSD, and try to find it in the gallery. You won't be able to find it because the gallery refresh is slow (or buggy). If you receive files over BT, or snap some pics, they will be instantly available in the gallery. But not downloaded or PC uploaded images.
My solution was to open the image in file exporer. Navigate to where you downloaded it, and open it 1x-2x, then it will show up in the gallery as well. Or another workaround is Quickpic.. It's quite a very awesome app that lets you show/hide different folders (which the default gallery LACKS), even password protect some. The only reason I use the built in gallery is because my display is set to auto adapt and it changes the display to AMODEL picture (but I might change the display to permanent AMOLED picture)..
