Samsung keyboard doesnt auto correct - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Reading that this is a problem on the note 2 samsung keyboard? Any idea on solutions besides using a third party keyboard? I like the layout and looks... plus it changes for one handed op and has a small version for multi window.. I dont want to lose that... but geesh auto correct is big

It doesn't auto correct but it has the predictive text. That's about as good as its gonna get for the stock keyboard

I think it's a jellybean bug. There are 6 or 7 guys at work with S3s that are complaining about auto correct not working since thier update to jellybean. Try this though. Enable the native swype in keyboard settings and it should work, does for me anyway as long as I'm actually swyping instead of typing.

Looking for a better keyboard

The Samsung keyboard is seriously getting on my nerves so I'm looking for keyboard recommendations. Please post what keyboard you use and what you like/dislike about it. Thanks!
gingerbread free keyboard from the market is the best ive found, only thing is the letters dont have symbols like ? ! on them, but I can live with that for free
My new favourite keyboard is Perfect Keyboard! It is exactly as the name implies. Perfect.
Regards.

+1, free until beta expires in August.
Other good keyboards are Thumb keyboard and Smart Keyboard both of which I've used as well.
I perfer Smart Keyboard. Quite costumizeable. Try it and buy the pro version if you like it!

I'm new to swiftkey x beta and liking it a lot so thanks for the heads up.
But.... the correction and suggestions don't work in the stock email app which is a bit of a bummer. Its sooo much better than the stock samsung keyboard.
Might go ask on the swiftkey web page if no one here has any quick and easy fix.
Edit: Found this is common for after market keyboards on the i9100 email app Have also sent question to swiftkey
Wish there was an easy way to change the keyboard when in an app without going to home screen. On my i8000 running froyo i used to be able to hold the settings button the keyboard and the keyboard choices came up. Any way to access the choise of keybaord easily??????
SlideIT ftw.

+1 on that. It's simple and does what it's supposed to do well. Plus, if you search the I9000 forum, you'll find some nice skins, yes it's free and you can change the skin color!

Seeing as everyone here post something different,I will post about my favourite.GO Keyboard.Nice, customizable, easy to use, accurate and has some pretty handy long-press shortcuts I really appreciate it.I don't know how it does with auto correction as I hate it,but other than that,it's brilliant!

Smart Keyboard has been my favourite for quite some time now. Plus I like the keyboard being a little longer as I find I hit the '.' so many times on the samsung keyboard and others. Its got a very good intuitive learning dictionary (think you have to turn it on first in settings).
Smart keyboard is great and has a lot of customization to it.
Personally love Swift Key. Can pretty much type a message only using the space bar.

My opinion atm is: Swiftkey X beta > SlideIT > Swype
I personally like Smart Keyboard pro the most. Also the gingerbread keyboard is good but not that good.
I don't know about Skype. I am trying to learn it but somehow it just seems bad..so slow and annoying. Just more practice needed?
+1 for smart keyboard. Tried the different keyboards when I got my nexus one and just felt that the smart keyboard where right for me. It has the feature that makes iPhone keyboard so great that it makes the letters bigger by prediction of what word you are typing "behind the scene"

there's an app for that... go to the play store and search for an app called perfect keyboard. don't remember if it costs anything but not only can you choose the 123 board as an option, you can also theme the keyboard and resize it to match your current theme. try it out!
Hey auto thanks for the reply but the screenshot that I posted foes the same thing. But I actually was trying to stay away from using a third party keyboard. Wanted yo mow if a dev could implement the number pad within the stock ics keyboard. But thanks for the suggestion though. I will try our perfect if all else fails. I used to use better keyboard with the old android but ics keyboard rocks!

I knew about that... As he said, I don't want third party apps. I am looking for something REALLY simple. A numeric keypad, just like the stock one when you open something that request it (when you're setting the time on Alarm app). Maybe a tweak to make it user openable?

Swype is much better than swiftkey in my opinion...
Fired From My FireDevice.
I've been using Swiftkey 3 and it works fine. Its predictions are great, saves you from having to type a lot!
I used Swifkey 3 for 9 months on my Note 1. But after using the stock Samsung keyboard, I have decided to use it exclusively. It has both Swipe & prediction functionalities.
Touchpal keyboard for me.
I`am using SlideIT for years now, very happy with it :good:
thx
The stock Samsung keyboard has Swype and Swiftkey included.
Go keyboard.
stock samsung keyboard.
however i find it annoying how it doesnt auto select prediction with space bar..

Guys..who ever has not tried Super keyboard Pro.. Please check and decide ...its awsome...way better than swift, Touchpal and SlideIT
I use SwiftKey mainly because of the great multi language support. I do wish it was more customisable.

How can we make it do so? I'm considering a switch mainly for the excellent handwriting recognition with stock samsung keyboard.
If there is a way where we can switch keyboard automatically with s pen for handwriting then I'll keep using SwiftKey.
Please someone enlighten us, been wanting this to work since my first Note

Alternate Keyboards?

So I decided to try out the Google Keyboard and it looked stupid huge. The keys are crazy huge and there's no option to scale it to the screen, or add a number row or anything. Any other keyboards you guys have used that still look nice?

I personally prefer Kii Keyboard. It's fully customizable and themable, you can change the size of the keys, the whole keyboard, how the keyboard works, etc. It's got all the functionality of the Google Keyboard and more too. Totally worth the cash, and it works with every keyboard theme out there that I've tried.

I actually like the stock Samsung keyboard with the number row. However, I also have had SwiftKey installed on all my Android device for a couple of years now.

swiftkey over everything.... touchpal isnt nearly as accurate as swiftkey
I do agree with all you guys. . swiftkey is the business!
I did find one thing out, though. Samsung keyboard is using swift Key flow. thats why the predictions & swiping have been on point.
Now, only if we can shorten the press and hold delay on samsung keyboard...

Im using Swiftkey Tablet edition and I like how it splits the keyboard when I rotate my phone. Also think it has one of the best predictive text options out. :good:
My favorite keyboard has been Hacker's Keyboard for a while now. It is great for terminal/remote desktop as it has all the control and modifier keys. Also has a real PC-like layout with number row, arrows, punctuation, and tab with a numpad, home/ins/del block, F keys, and more on the second page. Also very customizable. I don't like autocorrect or suggestions so a good basic keyboard is perfect for me. It's open source as well.

I flashed this keyboard and I love it. Smooth and fast.
Been using Swype since Nexus One. Tried the samsung board and liked the row of digits, but punctuation is quicker with swype for me.
