Hello, i just recently rooted my phone with the latest Advanced Ace Hack Kit, now i want to install a theme, i already dowloaded one, but it seems like i need a theme chooser app.
I cannot find it anywhere, excuse me if this question is stupid, but i really need help!
You need to flash a ROM that supports the theme chooser. AOSP-based ROMs do that; Sense ones do not.
Okay, so there is no posibility for me to keep sense and install custom themes?

Depends on the ROM. I know that some ROMs allow for their own theming; for example, I believe Team Venom's does. But the theme app you speak of specifically is only for AOSP ROMs, at least as far as I know.

Hey guys,
I am looking for a no sense barebone asop Rom. As long as it has asop contacts / dialer in full working condition I will be happy with it. Please suggest.
Than you.

Frost has the ASOP dialer and uses the ADW launcher.
I'm a fan of Vaelpak, it's pretty close to Senseless / AOSP (!!!!) as I've found and liked.
Say it with me now: Android Open-Source Project.
Also, ROMs are not themes.

the title is asking for a theme...the body of your post asks for a ROM.
i cannot help with a theme.
if you want an OpenSource ROM, then you will need CM6
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=729802
most folks also need to flash the gapps (google apps) zip. gapps cannot be included within the CM6 ROM because they are closed source.
I just install a custom rom for my HTC DESIRE (Aurora v3)
However there is no Cyanogen Mod Settings... I want a setting to allow keeping Home App (Sense) in memory.
Is there anyway to get that settings for any particular rom ?
Thanks
I think you can't use this aosp app for a sense rom.

CMparts needs to be compiled with the rom (AOSP only) so yup, theres no way. You need lots of extra stuff to build with it.
thanks.. at least i know it can't be done
I just rooted my phone, flashed superuser and backed it up. Now I installed a theme, but after it gets passed the 4G screen it makes me force close a lot of apps, did I install it wrong? PLEASE HELP!
You installed a non compatible theme most likely. Restore your backup
Having trouble with AOSP? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295702
How do I know if it's a compatible theme?
Most themes say which rom its for. If you were on the stock rom you need to find a stock rom theme
We're comin from a pure power source.
Damn, sorry I'm a noob, how do I know what stock Rom I have
Well, if you just rooted then you probably have the basic odexed ROM. Most of the themes are for deodexed ROMs.
Please correct me if the theme is for odexed, but I am guessing that is the problem. If you didn't make a nandroid you may have to flash your first custom ROM

nandroid shows up in the boot menu, and i flash the theme. Is there any sites you guys can recommend for themes?
2.3 root
hboot 2.16
How do I find if the ROM type and if it's Odexed?
If you haven't specifically flashed the stock deodexed rom, it's odexed. You'll need to flash the stock deodexed rom to be able to theme. The themes will need to be made specifically for stock, Sense 2.1/3.0, CM7/AOSP and MIUI themes won't work.
If you want more themes, you'll be better off flashing a custom rom. I'm not sure about the availability of Sense themes, but CM7 and MIUI have theming built in. These are both AOSP roms, they're not Sense which is what you're used to. MIUI is my personal favorite, and definitely the most themable.
You can always make a nandroid backup and try out different roms/themes. If you don't like what you flash, just restore your backup or keep flashing until you find something you like.

So I'm wondering if there are CM7 roms for the play with data, I know of freexperia but idk if thats the only one. And what it would take to intergate the theme chooser to another rom..
CM 7 Theme Engine or T-Mobile Theme Engine is only for Cyanogenmod7 Based Roms.
For our Play is The rom from FreeXperia the only Cyanogenmod Rom.
It is Possible but you must change the Framework and all System Apps, and its very difficult to do.
Easier for all is to port a Design to Normal Framework and SystemUI, like i do it ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1496653 ).
Hope it helps.
So either use freexperia rom or convert a theme for theme chooser to a normal theme? Alright It'll be my goal over feb break thanks
Yes theese are only the two only ways. But I would to create a theme
Cause CM7 is not compatible with all games and the touchpads.
If you need help PM me.

If it is aosp based rom... U get heaps of themes on Google play... If u r running sense based rom. Then check apps and theme section.... Every rom got their individual theme support..
For asop based rom.. Install the theme app like usual apps from Google play store.. U gta install it via theme engine..
For sense based... They have ota support like viper x rom or install it via recovery..

And if you decide to flash a theme, make a nandroid backup before. When it does not work somehow you can easily restore !
One thing: If you are still on Stock ROM, most of the themes here will not work because Stock is odexed and the themes are made for deodexed CustomROMs.
The Apps you downloaded from PlayStore will download automatically again when you flash a CustomROM and tick "save my device with google" (dont know exactly what this point is called when setting the device up, because here it´s called "Gerät über Google sichern" )
The same for contacts/calendar, if you sync them via google, they will be synced with the new ROM too.

I'm no pro at this but I can imagine how clueless you feel right now
If you want to install new themes then you have a few options, you can continue to use the stock rom that you are on right now and look for some themes that will work with Sense; the playstore is the best place to get these themes to use in conjunction with the launchers, for example Go Launcher, Nova Launcher etc.
Your other option, which is more fun, is to install AOSP roms and then you will be able to install a lot of smexy custom *themes
