Just check www.sammobile.com/firmware and flash manualy with Odin/Mobile Odin Pro mate.

Yeah, both of the above. You can NOT check OTA updates while rooted. But you can connect your phone to PC and check for updates via Kies. It won't update, but it will say if there is an update or not.

Mobile Odin is your friend. Seriously, it's beyond awesome.

I flashed the latest update with Mobile Odin Pro. I am rooted and it doesn't show my device as modified thus I can OTA. Awesome!

Firmware update using mobile odin

Have just rooted using cf auto root and want to update my firmware which is currently on stock 4.1.1. I am in the UK but my phone is a grey import with csc code (AFR), which according to Sammobile is Kenya. Can I just update the firmware using any of the English 4.1.2 files using mobile odin without messing up my phone?
I haven't got Cwm installed as I only want to use official firmwares.
Thankyou..

I think you cant just use otin mobile because you have to upgrade also bootloader and this is possible only with odin PC version. But maybe im wrong

Have just been reading through dr.ketan's guides and it looks like I can flash any official firmware for my phone as long as it's the same model number.

Yes you can update any country ROM for same device.
Just to add if you want to use mobile odin, then keep in mind Mobile odin won't flash bootloader and i recommend to flash bootloader later with PC odin, still your root will remain intact.
PS : actually bootloader need not to flash everytime and only this time there is a fix for exynose bug so you need to do it.
you can find new bootloader on my same rooting thread post #4
How do we find out which version bootloader is on note 2?
Sorry I dont mean to hijack the thread

Thankyou. I will have a look. Should I flash the bootloader first to fix the exynos bug, then the firmware, or do them both at the same time using pc odin?

you need to flash bootloader separately only if you use mobile odin to update ROM.
In case you are using PC odin to flash latest stock ROM, that will include bootloader and need not to flash it separately.
This is b'coz as i said mobile odin can't flash bootloader.(safety feature)

I thought the latest official Rom fixed sds. Will have to learn about kernel and recovery now lol. All I wanted to do was update my rom to an official one to mainly fix the exynos bug, sds bug and check out the new features.

yes, it has fixed SDS too
I said to utkarsh that exynose is fixed with bootloader.
So
If you use mobile odin to flash latest ROM, SDS will fixed but not exynose yet
While flashing with Pc odin, it will fix SDS as well exynose

Two more questions. When I do my first update using pc odin, will I lose root? If so, can I just re root using cf auto root again? Thankyou..

Hey when flashing with Odin how do you know what version of firmware will work with your phone? I have a note 2 from vodafone ireland with the csc of VDI. Would i be able to use one of those 4.1.2 updates or is it only unlocked phones that work?
Any ROM should work.

Am just about to update my phone using pc odin. I have loaded the pda file, but the bootloader is still blank. Do I have to load the same file into the bootloader section as well to fix the exynos bug and sds?
Thankyou.

No need to do it
If tar file having it(4.1.2 of 2013 released have it), then it will get flashed from PDA.

thats the problem it wont let me it said no updates available
If you are rooted or have a non-3e recovery ...the update attempt will fail ..
If you are completely stock you can manually set the date of the device ahead and try the update again...
If the attempt continues to fail ...then go to sammobile.com and pull the UCAMA4 build and push it to the device via Odin...then repeat the update attempt..
Once the device is updated to the latest UCAMC3 build ...you can root and use triangle away to reset your flash counter if desired...
But for now ...you should try Odin if manual updates are failing on a stock device ....g

Well no since your device is modified.....you can easily uproot and get back ota updates....I personally think..using a deodexed rom is better...but that's just me

Update not working????

Hi
I updated my firmware to the open Europe (oxx) last week. Then today I updated to the BTU firmware but for some reason kies sees the device as TPH instead. Is there any way I can get this thing back to official BTU? ?
Thanks
Steve
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 4
download Samsung Galaxy S/S2/S3 csc from playstore... you need to be root to use the app. run it and see if you can change the csc. a word of caution. it will wipe your data. so make a backup first.
No it wouldn't work. Something about it not available on a single csc device
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 4
When I connect to kies it says it doesn't support updating because I have TPH but when I do *#1234# I get the attached image. I am so totally lost. All I want is to have official BTU with kies support.

Same Problem for me here in germany. Flashed the leaked Firmware then updated to the dbt.and Kies tell me that my phone is not suported. Is there any way to get it work?

Well I was kinda lucky as I dropped my phone and it got run over by a lorry, so I got a replacement on the insurance.
