Okay so i haven't used my gnex in months and decided to come back to it. So i downloaded my new updated ROM, put it on my internal storage as i would normally, go into TWRP and accidentally erased everything! i wiped the system and everything. So this is where im lost on how to flash a new ROM through fastboot or Odin. Anyone that could help me with a link to a video or some incite on how to get back into an OS so i can continue with what i was doing!!
Thanks!!!!
Edit: Sorry guys just got in a hurry and didnt realize i could use odin without powering on the phone! Thanks and this can just be deleted...
Connect your phone to your computer while in twrp. Then adb push a ROM.
Adb push /location/of/ROM.zip /sdcard/

Hey Yall. Thanks for the tremendous help last time on getting my phone up and running with CM9.
I finally decided to go with the latest CM10 nightly build and apparently bricked my device. I thought I was following the correct procedure... Went to CW Restore and made a back up, also backed up all my SD card onto computer. Then ran the cm10 zip from recovery mode, and it froze on the "Checking blm/mtd" or whatever... Wouldnt do anything so I removed the battery. Now it starts booting up for like .5 seconds and I can see a dead android guy then the phone just keeps rebooting thru this....
Any pointers? Is she a gonner?
Make sure you have a blackberry cable and follow these instructions

After I do this, can I install CM10 without the hang up? OR is CM10 not really worth it in comparison the the stable cm9?
Also, is there anything I did wrong or missed/forgot when trying to install the CM 10 zip?

I would have made a backup using CWM and a backup of all my apps using Titanium Backup and wiped everything before flashing CM10.

Is a Blackberry cable = USB2.0? I have a USB 2.0 mini cable. However I cant get ODIN to recognize the device. It is just stuck on that downloading screen and the port in odin never turns yellow. Only recourse is the drivers which in the thread posted the drivers link is dead also, maybe they were posted elsewhere in the thread?

Drivers can be gotten here.
Not sure what cable you have but a mini cable is not a blackberry cable. You need a true blackberry cable
I'm trying to get this done today... are there any chains that carry "blackberry cables"? Office Depot? Best Buy? Wal Mart?

If you flash cm10 again, let it sit on that checking state of bml/mtd... it should reboot and put you back into recovery (it is changing partition sizes, yes even if already on cm9 it will do this... the partitions were changed for cm10 cuz we needed more space in /system...) after reboot you will see that same checking message... it is flashing the rom then, leave it be and eventually the flash will finish (about 2-3 mins)...
Using the Samsung toolkit I rooted my phone but remained stock. I installed rom toolbox and decided I wanted to try changing the system font. I installed it and rebooted the phone but it would not pass the Samsung logo so I decided to just hard reset. Messing around with twrp trying to to reset I hit wipe system and now when I go to reboot it says no os installed! I tried to go around it by installing the rom to the phone through the computer but my computer won't recognize my phone and neither will Odin. I'm stuck and I need help I can't even use my phone because it won't start :crying:
If you were using this tool you should be able to download a new AT&T rom and re-install from scratch.
This should be helpful to you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984717
Thanks I'll give it a try

The answer has been given on both this area and Q&A. Please don't post in more than one area. People will help you out. Whatever you do, don't panic. Just remember that as long as you can boot into TWRP and download mode, you are safe because your phone is not bricked beyond repair and there are multiple ways to get a ROM back. No guarantees on your data though (your external SD card should be fine though). Before you start messing around with much more, please read through various threads regarding what you are wanting to do so that you are prepared to do it correctly and you will have some idea of what to do should something go wrong.

did you get yourself straightened out? if you're still having issues with your PC not seeing your phone (and adb feels way over your head) go grab yourself a $10 micro sd card. they're real lifesavers. throw a ROM and gapps on there and you should be all set. you can backup to that sd card once you know you're all set to and you'll have a nandroid for emergencies too.
This is a easy fix. Boot into recovery mode. Mount your storage. Copy a rom from your pc to your phone. Flash away.

You are a life saver! Thanks so much
rom delete and phone wont turning on help me!!!!
hi guys!
yesterday i was updating my firmware or my smart phone INNJOO i1s, from its official site. i had started flashing it with FLASH TOOL it first format the rom then when i was to installed the rom there was error occurred then boomm... Rom crashed then i reboot my device and it was not starting. it was like a dead. its not charging now nor turning on. but when i connect it to computer, computer makes a connectivity sound, and installing and unknown device driver. Why it is happening? plz help me. I want to turn my phone again.
Never heard of flash tool. Do you have the i747 or i747m?
So, i wanted to do a FULL wipe, like delete /system /data /everything i can wipe with TWRP. It's not the first time i did this, but it's the first time i did this with TWRP. When i did it with CWR, i installed a factory imaged with Gnex Toolkit and everything went smooth.
But this time, i have problems with the drivers or something, because the Gnex Toolkit can't find my device, neither does Windows, i can only hear that beep sound when i connect my phone, and that's all. The only program that recognise my phone is ODIN, wich crashes when i hit start with the official .tgz image from Google. :crying:
Guys I really don't know what to do anymore, if any of you have any idea please help me, i need this fast. Ask for any other information you need.
Thanks in advance!:fingers-crossed:
I need to transfer a flashable rar with a custom ROM so i can flash it with TWRP. A friend of mine said something about adb push but he didn't know much so i still don't know how to solve this..
Use google or efrants guide thats stickied toolkit boy

I find the problem. I was in Download mode not Fastboot when using Toolkit.. god i'm such an idiot ). Thanks anyway namtotbout.
Yes, you need .tar files, or .tar.md5 for odin. I think it's time you learn to do it with fastboot, then it's unlikely you'll need any help to recover from anything the phone can throw at you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895. And you can learn about adb push, which will work in a custom recovery.
thanks to you too bodh.. I used to know all of this but i sold my GNex ~6 months ago and didn;t used Android since then, so i forgot most of these.
So about two weeks ago, while installing a new rom, I managed to format my storage before flashing the rom. After doing that, there obviously was no rom to flash. Or anything else for that matter. My phone now can only boot into recovery mode. When trying to turn it on, it goes as far as the google screen showing the unlock icon. I would surely appreciate any help from you guys. Thank you in advance and I apologize for anything noobish i have or undoubtedly will say in the future.
By the way, here is my set up:
Verizon Galaxy Nexus
Windows Vista 32 bit PC
Again, Thank you
I am not near my PC but you have to enter into fast boot mode and push your ROM.zip to your phone using adb

If you are running a custom recovery, ADB should work. You probably are having driver issues.
Fastboot, flash stock. If you're phone isn't being recognized, install drivers.

ADB does work on a custom recovery. You're right, he's having driver issues, he's just too lazy to search. THIS QUESTION has been answered a zillion times and is well documented in efrant 101 stickied on General section.

Of course, fastboot mode doesn't have ADB. Only fastboot.
a manta wrote this.
I don't think it's a problem of me being "lazy". I have been searching for over 2 weeks to find a post that helped me, and I wasn't able to because people on here seem to assume you know exactly what you're talking about, and throw around fancy android lingo that I'm unfamiliar with.
But I have uninstalled the drivers I previously had for my nexus and am going to try again. I also deleted ADB I think, so I'll have to get that again.
So, I installed Samsung's drivers, then went to adb and tried to sideload a rom, but was given the error: "device not found". I had my phone plugged in and booted into the recovery mode. I dont know what I'm doing wrong.
To the OP i really hope you get things sorted out. But some advice if you really do not know anything about your device, about rooting or how to use your device in conjunction with a computer then you need to do a lot more reading and research. Using ADB, Fastboot and being able to have your computer recognize your Gnex is all the first essential part of beginning to unlock the bootloader and rooting the device. So you should be very familiar with this unless you either had someone else root your phone or you used a root toolkit which is the reason why you don't understand what the steps may be or the wording. Toolkit are the worst to use just because of that reason. Also the fact that you wiped your internal memory also leads me to believe you don't know what you where doing because before it deleted it it asked you 'are you sure'. Please spend some time reading and learning educate yourself, do not expect anyone to solve it for you. Every rom, every guide and post on here always starts off by warning you that you are solely responsible for what you are about to do. Read, read and read again.

fancy android lingo?
This 'lingo' that gets tossed around is the basic knowledge one should know when customizing (rooting/flashing/modifying) their Android device.
Would you go and start modifying the engine in your car without some basic understanding of how it works, or what the parts are called and located?
Why would you treat your electronic devices any other way?
That post tells me you didn't even read the damn sticky I was talking about.
If you had read this, you would understand the "fancy android lingo" by now. And @jaysondasher, I have another link for you, here.
Have a nice day.
Don't boot into recovery. Boot into boot loader mode. Power and both volume buttons. Then, using fastboot flash stock.

I originally thought that I bricked it good since I have not really gotten into this since my epic 4g touch. I rooted after the last OTA update and couldn't get my wifi tether working. I attempted to flash a new rom and can only get into the boot loader or recovery, otherwise it's stuck in a bootloop. I am able to get my .zip file transferred and have looked at NUMEROUS other threads all over and still am getting a "no MD5 file found". Again I am pretty much back to noob status with all of this and just can't figure it out. I am using adb sideload to transfer since it's what's on Billard412's 2.4.2.0 and can't get the phone to connect to a computer any other way. Used Dirty, Omni and a couple of others that I found, Dirty came straight from their site. If anyone has a good .zip that would be GREAT too.
Any help is appreciated.
TIA.
Josh
