Prl 25010 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

So I flash the modded Prl 00001 at my work because I get no signal at all. I well I did the activation refresh with ##72768# and I kept seeing I had Prl 25010 and I usually had 25009. I don't know if it is any good or not. Anyone got this Prl yet? I kept trying to reactivate because I thought it never reset my Prl. I don't know if it's any better or not. Any one else know if it's any good?

Prl upgrades don't give you faster 3g speeds.
Only real difference is Baltimore has 800mhz coverage now.

Agreed PRL 25010 for my device has given me nothing but problems. Starting around the 15th for me my device will periodically will not pass incoming calls to the phone nor incoming texts. All data works fine, all outgoing calls and outgoing texts work fine.
Also tested it on my EVO LTE and same problem happens.. Sprint support sees a high percentage of what they call blcoked calls (calls not making it to my device) and they cant explain it. 11% today, 25% on the 15th. She said anyhting higher then 5% is not good.
Ive already been told by another XDA member that PRL has nothing to do with it. BUT i think thats wrong. All this happened around the time the new PRL dropped. Call it a placebo affect but my data services and signal strenghts are lower across the board lately.
On both the GS3 and EVO LTE, and they both have the PRL 25010.
Taking it with a grain of salt tier 2 tech told me that they have seen a higher volume of issues related to call problems and data issues in areas with network vision and i told her i thought it was related to the PRL and she agreed, but we all know how those calls can go.
Prior to the update i had no service problems and was seeing the fastest 3G speeds ever (in dallas, tx and i get faster 3G and seeing more 4G LTE) I feel like im back on the old sprint network prior to all these updates.

After you updated the PRL, did you update your profile? If not, perhaps that may help.

Yup.. Today we did multiple data resets ##768 what ever the rest of the numbers are..
Did it twice and a few hours after each time im still not getting calls into my device.
I have done profile updates before and after PRL.

Are you in Baltimore area? That would be the only change in native Sprint service between PRLs.
What SID are you connected to? Check your ##debug# screen in the 1x section to find out.

Dallas, TX..
dont have the passcode its looking for when i put it into debugging. MSL code doesnt work.

Type in Sprint for the code. In numbers of course.

So after doing a lot more research i found out how to load a PRL to my device.
I was on PRL 25010 and am now back on 25009.
Guess what, my data speeds are back up to over 1meg on 3G. (yes that was a sarcastic guess what by the way)
I dont care how many times certain users say that a RPL doesnt affect speeds or connectivity. Call it a placebo affect.
Since 25010 dropped on us i have had nothing but crap tacular data speeds..
I was unable to get over 500k down on the old prl..
3 times now with the 25009 prl i have had 1.12 megs, 1.0 megs, and 975k down.. Ping times are also a lot better..
So problem solved now that i know how to go to an older PRL..

Thank You digiblur for that write up, the instructions to allow me to go back to my old PRL, and having the new and old PRL in a place where i could download them.
Im now looking for a way to do the same thing on my EVO LTE..

Post the SID you connect to as I am curious to look into this.

Very nice.. You are on 800SMR which increases coverage of course.
But as you can see there is absolutely zero differences between 25009 and 25010 for that SID:
25010:
SID: 22407 Sprint Nextel - Dallas TX; Longview TX; Lubbock TX; Monroe LA; Paris TX; Shreveport LA; Texarkana TX Prio:Same Roam:None
1X: S/476 S/526
EV: Sprint(0084:0AC0) P/475 P/650 P/550 P/575 P/375 P/75 P/600 P/325 P/175 P/225
25009:
SID: 22407 Sprint Nextel - Dallas TX; Longview TX; Lubbock TX; Monroe LA; Paris TX; Shreveport LA; Texarkana TX Prio:Same Roam:None
1X: S/476 S/526
EV: Sprint(0084:0AC0) P/475 P/650 P/550 P/575 P/375 P/75 P/600 P/325 P/175 P/225
The only recent change Dallas really had was the addition of 800SMR several PRLs back, even before the EVO LTE or S3 was launched. Probably what you are seeing is really Network Vision upgrades and such. Are you running a ROM that has the 3G/1X icon fixed? If not you could actually be on 1X instead due to some of the upgrades. And it is very possible to now only have 1X coverage in areas where you were roaming before. Enjoy the 800SMR... I'm jealous!

On my gs3 and evo lte (I switch back and forth periodically) I noticed a degradation of service from 25009 to 25010.
Both units stock. Non root.
Use the same server for speed test.
Same location. Either my apartment in my tv chair or office at my desk.
I do have mobile signal widget and network signal info to monitor my data connection and strength.
Several months ago my evo lte would get stuck on 1x. But that was several software updates ago. They fixed it. And when it happened I was well aware of it.
I'll enjoy my placebo affect and chalk up the better performance on prl 25009 to colder temperatures. Lol.

(Question) signal strength

I jut wanted to see if anyone could give me advice on having better signal. What exactly effects thesignl strength? I know its the prl and I believe I also read that the modem hassomething to do with it also. I've tried different modems I can probably say the best I've used was ec05 but I'm running eh17 now and I update my prl every couple of days. I be in my basment a lot ad I get a lot of call drops or don't receve calls at all and I get texts late or don't receive them at all either. Ifanyone knows anythin I can try that might fix these problems it would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Try updating your prl manually... there should be a guide in the devolpment section.. and the issue can be your basement.. I get great service in certain areas of my house but the basement usually only gets good service if I leave my phone alone and don't move it.. so it has a steady signal- that could be your issue too. Updating your prl manually isn't easy for beginners so what I would do is read the instructions very carefully

it may be because of my basement but I used to have 1-2 bars but I switch roms and try new modems and now I usually have 0-1 bar in the basment. And even when I am outside I still sometimes miss txts.
I read that thread once it waspretty confusing.. probably because I wasn't trying it. But the thing thatmade me not try it was the face that I have to choose the prl number that I want so I have no idea how to tell which one is best and even by reading what ppl say tey might be in a different place where their prl is better. So I'm really not sure about what to update the prl too and I honestly don't really know everything about prl. So I won't be messing with it until I really understand it.

1. Buy Roam control @market
2. Set it to roam only
Well the prl is the Preferred Roaming List so if your issue is when you have no signal, which other providers tower will you roam to, then the PRL matters. If your signal in your house is just terrible then it could be some new construction in the area messing with your signal. You could ask Sprint for an Airave if you complain that you have no service in your house and if you have enough credit for an additional line it will cost you the difference in taxes for another line per month. In Florida that was another $1.72 a month. Or as suggested try Roam Control.

Yes. Provided you have enough credit for another line. It is usually lent to you with the idea if you no longer need it you will return it. I have seen them try to charge those with not enough credit to qualify for an additional line. I qualified for 8 lines so had no problem getting one. Just have to pay the taxes on an additional line which depends on the state you are in.

3g and 4g speed on sprint - questions

I have a rooted EVO 4G with the stock Rom and I have been experiencing slow speeds lately. I've tried searching the net and have found numerous articles that contradict one another at times. Most pages sujjest to change the prl so I've tried that and have had no luck thus far. I do not want to do the prl hack where I would use verizons towers because ay the moment I do not want to get terminated from Sprint. I just do not like the speeds I've been getting lately. Had anyone had any luck with some type of modification to their phone that has helped speed their data up??
I live in new York city and almost always have 3 to 4 bars of reception. So I don't think that's the problem.I'm attaching 2 screenshots of my speed results. Obviously the faster one is where I was using 4G. I have tried multiple prl files and the speed is around the same with each. Any help would be greatly appreciated

PRL has nothing to do with sprint. The prl update just updates the towers you connect to when roaming.

There is no mod you can do, Sprint's speeds just suck right now. I personally got the evo in June of last year on launch day. For a few months, I got perfectly normal speeds, around 2mbps. In November of last year, my speeds went to about 100kbps, and I haven't gotten above 150kbps on sprint's network since then. Nothing you can do about it, Sprint just needs to majorly update their network, and we all know that isnt going to happen anytime soon.

You can try the 3G Turbocharger, it's in the V6 Supercharger thread. I'm pretty sure it just makes some changes to your build.prop to help with your connection.
I honestly didn't see much of a difference using it, but I rarely use 3g. A lot of people claimed that it helped, so it may be worth a shot.
The bottom line is that Sprint's service sucks. With the new influx of heavy data users, there's even more strain on the network. I'm lucky, I still get usable speeds, but some people get just awful speeds. If Sprint doesn't step it up and do something, they're going to lose customers.

What option are you talking about? What modifications are you suggesting to make?
your posted speeds are faster than mine lol
Those speeds are better than my 3g, and I don't even have 4g to compare.
My 3G used to be good until earlier this month. I could sometimes snag 1000kbps but now I pull dismal numbers. It seems that the bad 3g speeds are because of heavy network traffic. When I speedtest at around 1am, my speeds go back up to the 1000kbps range.
I suspect the iPhone 4S had something to do with this, and also the S2 was released fairly recently.

What prl is everyone using?

I'm on 25005 which I think is stock, but it works great. Anyone else using another that's bringing in reliable data? I tried 00002 but it cuts data on my often.

I'm on the same one. I would love to put the VZW business (allow 3G roaming) on here, but I have two issues with that: I'm around Chicago, and Sprint and VZW don't have a roaming agreement here, so I'm out of luck even if I could (second issue) force roaming.

11115 here...metro Detroit area. I haven't really noticed a difference with it. I bought roam control, but haven't set it up cause it apparently doesn't work on this phone from what people have been saying. If I'm in the house near my airrave its fine, but I get 0-2 bars if I go out on the porch, so I usually just stay on WiFi while at home. Seems worse than usual over the last month too. Hopefully that means they've started upgrading the towers around here.....yeah right....:what:

Well, I just updated and I now have 60794.
But I would consult http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880781 for all the gory details. I know if you have a corporate account, your PRL may not be in the 60xxx series, eg back in 2011 corporate customers were suddenly switched from a 60xxx PRL to something like 0111x
That's my answer to the *literal* question you asked.
But I might go further and suggest PRL is almost *never* the cause of someone's signal "messing up" on an Evo. Read the OP in that thread carefully, especially the part about "common PRL myths" and I think you'll agree your issue is probably something else.

Not that Sprint store personnel lie, but I do NOT trust what they say. For years I went to stores to get problems fixed and all they would do is a factory reset. A couple of times they just sat the phone in the back for a half hour and brought it to me saying they fixed it.
Any way, here is something we were talking about on the Shift forums the other day. Maybe it can help you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346680
Don't know if it is because of upgrades or shifting PRL's but my signal is acting up lately. From calls dropped to loosing complete data connection.
PRL's have to do with roaming and the priority of towers to use when roaming, nothing to do with native 1X signal or your data connection

Well, then how I am losing signal and fall into roaming when I am in my zone?

Anyone notice their service getting worse?

At first I thought it might have been my rom, but it seems it's happening with my GF's note 2 also.
Coverage we used to receive in some areas is almost completely gone. It will show signal and the 4g symbol but basically have NO internet service whatsoever.
On a better note, we've been receiving coverage in some areas we don't usually have it.
I'm hoping this is just a temporary thing due to the attempts to upgrade towers for LTE.
I don't know if it's because of the UVBMB4 update, but t-mobile service has been pretty crappy lately. Period.
We're in the San Gabriel Valley area.
Link for older UVALL4 modem below, people seem to experience better service

I believe my service has suffered as well. Before the last update that enabled our Lte radios, I had great speeds, now it's slowed Way down. I'm in San Diego CA. Hope that it's just as the Op said, LTE towers being updated and what not.

Definitely have noticed a deterioration of service over the past month here in NYC.
Its because for some reason that new LTE APN is slow on HSPA+.. unless you have LTE in your area switch to the EPC APN. You can find the settings online. Its litter ally consistently a difference of 6+ mbps I have extensively speed tested lol..... click thanks if this helped

Same here, I thought it was rom related.
YES! My service has sucked royally for the past month or so. Data latency/hangups/slowness, and the signal will just completely go away sometimes. I noticed that it started as soon as I flashed the most recent radio too, I'm about to go back to the old one.
Count me in, even my regular phone reception went from 4 bars no 1 or 0!
Can anyone point to towards old radio to flash? I go from no signal downstairs to full bars upstairs...theres an obv issue with new radio.
Yup I've noticed this beginning this week I've made zero changes to the phone. I used to get full bars at work and this week it bounces between full and 1 bar regularly. Theure messing with towers for sure

I'm also experiencing significant decrease on data speed. Has your data speed improve after flashing with older radio and APN setting?

I was getting about 9/0.6 and with flashing back Im getting... 14/2 Though Ive been on HSDPA 15 & 21. Though Im not getting 4G as much, but it was sporadic anyways and I lost signal...and now I am not. So, Im happy now even though I am on 3G. However... in my corner big red has same problems as they wanted to not have tons of towers in this corner and theres only a ATT Tower....for a decent distance. basically reception fringe. though I am a new subscriber so i haven't experienced normal TMO, I literally got my device yesterday around 6pmish but it def wasn't normal and flashing previous radio did fix it like it solved everyone elses issue

my problems started last friday. i have limited to no service at all; no data, no voice, even no signal at times (circle with line through it, not just no bars). when i do get a signal, the phone refuses to register on the network. when im at home, i have intermittent service. i miss calls, texts wont send, if i do get a working call, it drops after a bit. there are times when it works fine, even on LTE but it never last long. went to the tmo store last night and they gave me a new sim which didnt do squat. already done the factory reset option (twice). phone has never been rooted, all stock. im in the KC metro so not like in the middle of nowhere. they said my next step is a warranty replacement phone if the sim didnt help. not sure if my problem is at all related to everyone elses in this thread, but yeah, service has sucked.
One of the issues, especially if you switch from 4g to edge to gprs a lot, is a setting in the new modem.
It's something called acquisition order. It has 3 settings:automatic, gsm_umts, umts_gsm. In short it tells the phone what kind of network to prefer. It will search for and use that type of network first.
Prior to the latest update it was set to auto. Now it is set to prefer umts. For some reason this has caused an issue I've come to call phantom 4g. Where it'll say 4g with no bars and no data service.
That is my guess. I'll look into it further.

Thanks guys for the heads up on switching to an older radio, I dont have LTE in Miami yet and was having slow internet for the last 3 weeks, I just switched and wow! What a difference. I'm also using the Epic APN.
I also noticed that speeds were degraded after the update. However, there is a simply fix to make your web a tad bit faster....
Go into your network settings, and switch your mobile network from LTE/4g/3g/2g to just 4G/3g/2g
your device will stop looking for an LTE connection and will just utilize HSPA+
Made a world of a difference on my own device. Connecting to the play store, opening web pages, everything was right back to where it was before the update.
Obviously if you live in an LTE area, there is no need to do this...

I believe my service has suffered as well. Before the last update that enabled our Lte radios, I had great speeds, now it's slowed Way down. I'm in San Diego CA. Hope that it's just as the Op said, LTE towers being updated and what not.

So I'm gonna be a noob here for a sec. When people say they are flashing the previous radio (I'm referencing the link that was posted) are people just flashing the modem from the section under the most recent? (the one with the January date on it). Just thought I would ask. Better safe than sorry. Thanks!

Yup, radio is synonymous with modem in this case. UVALL4 is the previous version.
