Hey Guys, i have a question, my nexus is ringing when i have it set to silent mode.
The ring is not the normal ringtone.. when the call is received, there is a short ringing sound, the LED flashes and then it goes silent. all texts/emails are silent in silent mode its just phone calls show that ring-ring then go silent.
I am stock/rooted. Im not really sure what is going on here..
Any ideas? i looked through all the setting on the phone and couldnt find anything related to this.
Thanks so much for any help
Are you using any profile switching applications or apps that change your sound levels? I used to get this on my Droid sometimes when using a profile switching app. The app would say I was silent, and my volume levels were down, but on an incoming sound from twitter would still make it through, like the app didn't respond fast enough.
Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has a solution for disabling notification sounds while listening to music in my car via AUX cord. I have one that adapts through a cassette and while I'm listening, evening when my phone is set to silent, my notifications still ring at top volume which is very annoying. I know with CM7 they had a fix for this.

Really? When my phone is on vibrate or silent, the notifications don't make sound when listening to music.

Through an aux cord?

Hey guys, I am having the hardest time trying to figure this out. I want to have my ringer silenced but my alert volume on. Every I put the phone ringer all the way down, I never hear any alert notifications (texts). The alert notifications is still up and at the setting I want it on, but no sound.
I have them unlinked in the settings so the ringer and alerts are not linked together.
Is this a bug of some sort?
Is there a way around this to have the phone go in silent mode and still be able to hear texts?
Thanks!

Well I know that they cannot be separate if you are stock so maybe it is a hardware thing that the phone simply will not support.

Just put your ringer on silent in the sound settings

I listen to music in my car through the headphone jack, and it's annoying when every notification will sound, lowering the volume of my music playing. It'll bring back my music after the tone plays, as it should
This happens under all 3 profiles.
When I'm not plugged into the jack, all is at it should be based on whatever profile is engaged. The phone will only vibrate under the vibrate profile, music blasting at continuous, unbroken volume.
I've tried messing with the sound settings and profiles, but I can't seem to rid myself of the annoyance

Have you tried any automating apps like Tasker or Llama? You can set up profiles in those that detect when certain variable conditions are met, such as headphones plugged in and charging. If you have any questions on how to do this, I would be happy to help.
For example, I currently have a Tasker profile that turns on Bluetooth in the morning and once it detects it is connected to the Bluetooth in my car, it increases the media volume to max, lowers the notification volume to zero, and starts Mort for my audio book for my morning commute. In the evening, it starts Slacker radio instead for my commute home.

Why thank you! Will try this out right now!

And Tasker seems rather complicated to set up!

Yeah, I admit Tasker is a bit daunting at first, but once you learn some stuff, it's awesome! I started out using llama, which can do a lot of stuff while still being free. Tasker is just more feature packed and can do other things like creating scenes and even make an installable app.
Just as a quick rundown, Tasker is set up with Profiles, Tasks, Scenes, and Variables tabs. You start with either the profiles or tasks. The profiles set up the conditions of which you want your task to run from. To start, you can ignore the scenes and variables. I think there's even an " easy" or " simple" mode if you want .
If you would like more help in how to set one of them up, I would be happy to assist. Otherwise, there's a lot of other resources out there with more knowledge than me.

Just checking to see if you got it to work the way you wanted. If not, I would be happy to help!

Sorry, but I'm not sure what you mean. Are you asking about how to use Tasker or Llama to change the notification volume when plugged in?

No. I'm asking if there is a mid to flash through recovery to disable notification in headphones when in silent or vibrate mode.
My old phone made a notification in headphone only in "normal mode" and it was better!

Sorry, but no, I don't know of any mod to apply in recovery. Instead, I have a tasker profile set up so that whenever my Bluetooth headphones are connected, the notification volume is set to zero.
Otherwise, have you used an xposed module like gravity box to make sure your ringtone and notification volumes are linked? I'm not sure, but perhaps that will make it so the notification is muted when in silent or vibrate mode.

Anybody here knows how to completely silence the notifications while listening to music? Because even in Vibrate and Silent mode, notification sounds still kick in while listening and it's annoying especially if you are a serious listener.

Inbuilt music player doesn't have the option to turn off "Reduce volume on focus loss"
I would suggest using a different music player.

I'll look into it.
Try enabling do not disturb mode from notification tiles.
