Hey guys im new in this forum so hello to you all
I recognized a heavy battery drain the last days since i updated to jellybro 4.2
To be more precisely : i used my phone 2 hours display on simple surfing and lost 40 percent at 75% display power
Then i switched to cyanogen mod 10.1 and it was nearly the same switched to leankernel ...nothing
I also did a complet format of my storage and flashed the stock by the toolkit and still theres the same problem it s better now but nethertheless bad enough
So what do you think?? I dont know what to do ...
Thanks to you all
Windhowls
2hrs screen on time and you only lost 40% battery? seems fine to me.
Normal.
Beamed from my Grouper.
You are kidding me arent you ? On jellybean 4.1 i just lost around 10 -15 percent!

So you're claiming that on 4.1 you have 13-20 hours of screen on time at 75% brightness? Yeah, not buying that at all. Losing 40% for 2 hours of screen on time is pretty good, even for the 2000/2100 mAh battery.
Totally normal drain. I'm calling bs on the 10-15% in 2 hours with screen on.
Hmm yeah of course there were Not so impressive Times but IT feels To me like too much naah i will watch it a Bit a big thanks to all of you guys i liked to hear other opinions on that
Regards Windhowl
I am having constantly 1.4% per hour drain in flight mode with any kernel. Even on lean kernel that many claim 3 % overnight. Stock takju. Thanks
P.s : sorry for hijacking. Just do not want to open a similar thread.

I will switch to that and try. Is one of the few that i have not tried.

My average is 8hrs on battery and 2-3hrs screen on time with stock battery so I think yours is fine.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Finally i dropped to 0.2-3% per hour in flight mode using 007 kernel.
With almost all others were at 1.4% with same config.

special in that it's less useful because you did not post screen time?
you probably didn't get much past 4 hours screen time if you even got that far so it's not like it's an achievement.
I see very little screen on time. I have done 18 hours stock with 3.5-4 hours screen on but it's on it's last leg at that point. Lol

Why is there so much awake time even though your screen is not on? And unless you got really high screen time, 24 hours isn't that all impressive.

I got 3 hours of streaming music over 3G with 30 minutes of screen time today until i hit 15%.........
Forgot to add, my tbolt with extended battery would take me from NY to Philly using navigation the entire way and streaming music and at the end of 3 hours drive with the screen on I was down to 75%......
It's extremely easy with Juice Defender: Ultimate and the Extended Battery..
GSM, Apex ROM, ORIGINAL 1750mah battery.
1 day 4hours
3hrs 13minutes screen ON time.
I forgot to screen cap the other pic of the huge graph.
This is only on WIFI though during the weekend when I was home all weekend long.
I can't get this high if I was using cell data/wifi during workdays.
Wow. I think I won. I took out the battery and waited 2 days and then I put it back in the phone. I got 2 days and 16 hours out of that.
Try to top that.

Some of us have corporate email, does juice put the device to sleep? I need push email.
I can get 3 days quite easily if im busy and dont get much use out of it.
This state was with about 3 hours screen time.
The main point to take about battery life is that you can make it use all during screen off with Franco kernal and AOKP for example but if your gonna be playing games/watching films the battery will hollow out in no time (notice the 2 big dips on the pic that was while playing GTA3 on full brightness)
So the best you can do is minimise the battery drain when you are not using it. Otherwise its all about screen-on time and a bit to do with how much junk you have running
Setup as detailed in my sig
Another "I get amazing battery life but barely use it" type of thread. Seriously we all know how long the battery can last based on the usage.

I'm on lean kernel and quite frankly, I couldn't tell you the last time I didn't get at least a day. You want better battery life? That is the kernel you want to be using.
I have been having bad battery life for my Galaxy Nexus. I got an extended battery and it helps a bit. Any suggestions on how to extend battery life.

You should give us some details on your usage. How about some screenshots of your battery stats page after a full days use?
install betterbatterystats as it can help you find what's hogging your battery. It's on play store but also available for free for xda people. Google it and the free version should be the first link.

i hope you are not using stock kernel ... sometimes it helps alot to change it (to replace stock kernel).. i haven't tried on my galaxy nexus yet .. but on my htc wildfire .. it was clearly noticeable ...
Franco kernel, it takes very much longer battery life.
There are also programs like Jucie Defender, ...
Often there is a program that takes a lot of power, just look under "Battery" ...
Stock kernel is fine. I get 4½ hours display time with auto sync with auto brightness on rooted stock 4.1.1. I got the same using various kernel/ROM combos on ICS. So no, there's nothing wrong with stock kernel.
Did I mention that's in a 20 hour day with stock battery!? And there's already like 20 of these threads.

Which ROM are you running? I'm using ViciousV5 and the battery life is awful, I have a 3800ma battery but I really need a car battery with this ROM. On 4.0.4 the phone would run for 30 hours, now it's good for 10 hours.

Battery life is very good compared to the previous releases. I ran for forty minutes with Bluetooth turned on while listening to tune in radio and using endomondo app. Google now turned on. I lost fifteen percent compared to losing 35% with similar usage. Very satisfied.
What do you think?

Bit unnecessary. To answer the question it's too early for me to thoroughly test battery life.

Ditto. My phone ran like a champ on a freshly flashed ROM. Then my phone realized it was born as a Verizon-Nexus mutt and had a psychological breakdown to the point of 1.75 hours of on-screen time the day after.
Twas a sad day
I'm reading my work email over the exchange service account. After upgrde to 4.2 the exchange service process eats my whole battery so I can't tell about any improvement.

When it comes to battery life (in general, though especially true with this newest release), it's crazy how many divergent opinions you get. Some people claim to get amazing battery life (exactly what quantifies for amazing?) and some people claim the battery life is crap. This is just to remind you that unless you have a good way of measuring battery life, your measurements can be plus/minus hour(s). Someone who just leaves their phone on a black screen with no wi-fi and cell may get 10 hours of screen-on time. Someone who is watching videos with cell/wi-fi might only get 2 hours of screen-on time.
In the future, I can make two recommendations:
Always report a complete cycle (from 100% to close to 0%). This is because the battery does not discharge at a constant rate.
Always report screen on time
Average for GNexus in previous builds was 2-4 hours. I've no idea about the plus/minus, but they tend not to be under 2 and over 4 with moderate usage. I think an average of 3-3.5 hours is what most people are happy to report.
And that is really sad because my old atrix used to get over 8 hours on Wi-Fi with over twelve hours of standby time. I wish they would make this phone but with a smaller screen size. The technology used on this phone is not battery efficient at all.

This tells us nothing....u don't show ur screen on time and uve been charging off and on..
Battery life in sleep mode is worse for me. I am losing 3% an hour with the screen off, I used to lose only 3% total overnight with the screen off not per hour. I tested this over the last 4 hours only waking the tablet up long enough to check the battery level and it has gone down by 3% each time. Nothing has changed with any apps or setting since I upgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.2. I got concerned when I noticed this morning that my battery was over 15% less then when I went to sleep. Anyone else notice this?
This is very good battery by my standards.

re
50% left 23h 11m on baterry. wifi and location on all the time and 10% wasted on need for speed most wanted also. brightnes at 80% aprox. im very pleased with the baterry really maybe becouse the phone is relatively brand new and the battery still very fresh allways charging with care after discharge not on and off the charger all the time
yeah using the 4.2 factory image with trinity a4 and getting great battery life
So late last week I installed liquid smooth and it was working awesome! was seeing -2.3% an hour on my battery drain. but as of two days ago, i'm getting a low of -13% drain an hour and sometimes all the way up to -38% an hour! The charge rate has even fallen from 24% an hour down to a cahrge rate of 10% an hour.
I think the culprit is the screen because it shows at >50% on the battery monitor and in the app "battery drain"
I've honestly searched and searched but can't find a solution to this. How can I pinpoint why my screen is using so much battery (brightness is on auto) even when my phone is in standby most of the day?
Same problem mate, mine is almost 80% drain by screen only..I replaced new battery also in RMA but its also not worked, maybe new update of android fix the problem..mine currently is 4.2.2 JB on nexus 7

I tried to upload both screenshots but it didn't seem to work. 2 days 13 he's 20 minutes with 35% charge left. That was with 7.5 hrs of screen time. I got almost another hour of screen time before I recharged.
This was with mostly browsing or reading ebooks with Wi-Fi on while the screen is on, but Wi-Fi off when the screen is on. I had some weird media server draining my battery while the tablet was idle, so I set it to shut Wi-Fi off while the screen is off.
This is my screenshots i think it was alot better than the previous nexus 7

I don't know whether or not i should return mine. I can't seem to get nowhere near the average battery life that folks are getting, while having my screen to 40‰ brightness, airplane mode on, and wifi off when screen is off... Im running on stock w/o root yet.

Flashing kernel was also a good method to solve the problem or maybe make a factory reset may get better battery life
It depends your option
Actually battery life depends on how do u use the tablet maybe the next firmware update can ease the problem

40 percent is bright. This tablet has a very bright display. At full brightness its 583 nits. For comparison the iPad 4 is 407 and the iPad mini is 378.
40 percent of this devices brightness is about 225 nits. Want better battery. Turn down your brightness. Nothing is wrong with your device.
I mainly use mine for internet & YouTube & yesterday had over 9 hours of screen on time with lowest brightness
Battery draining at 1% every 3-4mins
How do you recalibrate the battery?
My battery is draining at >1% every 3-4 mins
Wifi ON, brightness- lowest possible.
Processes: FB, wechat, android stuff.
And im not doing anything to it.. I get around 5-6 hours
Any tips?

There is no such thing as battery recalibration. Get rid of running Google services you don't need and monitor which apps keep the tab awake, kill them too. FB is quite heavy on the system, Chrome too, try lighter alternatives.
My 32 gb is stock rooted atm, but battery life is great. Might even just leave stock alone for a change (although thats doubtful).
Yesterday let the tab sit with screen on while i was working. Almost 6 hours of screen on dropped battery to 50%.
Screen was set to about 1/3 max brightness.

Ive used my tablet up to 2% battery left, maybe, up to 10-15x..
now im draining around 15-20% per hour.
Ive done a factory reset already, still its like that.. Do you think because of that battery treatment, i could have messed up my battery?
