Configuring the camera app on note 2 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I see that our camera pictures get stored on the internal memory and I also have a external sd card for extra space but when I take pics I have two camera folders in gallery why cant I just use one as default it seems to pick and choose where it wants to save pics on its own. Any help gladly appreciated.

I have my camera set to store photos on the sdcard as well. What I found was that single shots are stored on the sdcard, but burst shots or still shots from video are stored on the camera. Same thing goes for best face, or any of the shots that need processing on the fly will get stored on the camera. I think that they do that by default to accommodate different sdcard speeds and capacity.

Sd card or gallery problem?

So, I don't know exactly where this problem started, but now whenever I take a picture with my camera the picture only shows up in the gallery until I reboot my phone. Then the "camera" album disappears until I take a new picture, but only the new picture appears in the album, none of the older ones. the dcim folder o on my sd card has a ton of pictures though.... Any thoughts?

Instagram low resolution on HOX

Did anyone notice that the pictures you take when using instagram are much lower in resolution than the ones you take when using the stock camera?
Unticking the "advanced camera" option under instagram settings doesn't do much since you're gonna have to crop your picture again.
Any thoughts?

Yeah that's instagram for you, the pictures are resized to crap.
or taken in a lower resolution using their 'advanced' camera in part of the app.
Just the way it is.
That's just how Instagram works.

Images are always cropped down within instagram. Even the images you took with the stock camera you upload there. Just take a look into the instagram photo folder on your internal memory. They're all cropped down BADLY.
Thats just how Instagram works. Small images means less traffic and faster loading times. Thats why you cant watch images in full screen within the app either.
Thanks guys, I thought so.. this is getting annoying!

Damn, I wondered how they got the pictures to upload so fast!

Sorry for thread-jacking but is there any way to take pictures with Instagram and not have them uploaded? Many times I just want to make tests and it sucks that I cannot simply choose to save the files to a folder instead of uploading the pictures.
doe anyone else notice that instagram links do not open the instagram app on the HOX? For instance a tweet of the form instagr.am../asdhjd/ would give the option of opening with the instagram app on my SII but on my HOX it just gives the browser option..

Yes, just don't click upload... The pics will be saved in the instagram folder on SD

It does save the photo but it doesn´t apply the instagram effect. It also won´t let me choose the default folder or to set "never upload" as default.

Works for me. Take the photo, apply the effect(s), hit the arrows in the top right to take you to the tagging/upload screen, then just back out again. The processed photo (with effects) will be in the Instagram folder, the unprocessed photo will be in the normal camera photo folder.
Thanks. I didn´t realize it copied the photo with the effect to a different folder. All other photo apps I use automatically copy the photos to the android default photo folder.

Yea, it will copy the untouched photo to the normal photo folder, and the effect photo to the Instagram folder.

I much prefer to take pictures with the stock camera then use instagram to crop and upload, but thats just me.
yeah but wouldn't it be hard to judge how the photos should be taken because only the middle half of the photo will be cropped and uploaded onto instagram.

Problem deleting photos using gallery.

Currently i am running CM9 final 8/10 and experiencing a problem deleting photos using the gallery app.
1. Set camera Storage: SD Card.
2. Take picture.
3. Open Gallery, delete picture taken in step 2.
4. Using Solid Explorer (or similar) navigate to /sdcard/DCIM/Camera-- picture taken in step 2 is still there.
In fact, after a reboot the picture will re-appear in Gallery. It seems that Gallery is deleting the photo from the media index, but not the actual photo on the SD Card.
Quick Google search brings up similar issues on other devices but no solution. Can someone confirm this issue, and maybe help resolve?

Can Google Photos remove photos from SD card?

So I have a Galaxy S7, and when I manage photos through Google Photos, I can't delete items on the SD card, asking me to launch the gallery to do so. Since the HTC 10 doesn't HAVE a native gallery app, how does that work on this phone?
In hTc 10 we are using Piktures - and it's just awesome! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.diune.pictures
Sent from quite brutal hTc 10 ..
yes, i am using Photos and you can delete content in the SD card. Photos are sort of slow to draw on screen, though. had the same issue with a different phone so i don't think it is just a 10 issue.

Wonder why Google didn't bring this support over to other SD card-supporting phones.

The 10 uses it for the stock app so maybe it's special.
@AB__CD photos is the native gallery app on htc 10, be careful if you delete all your backup photos off of it, it will delete all your photos on your phone also, sd card and internal. I found this out after clearing my google photos to reupload due to doubles, (high res vs original) at least I back up to pc also so only lost a couple photos
