I am on the JellyBomb ROM and the dialer codes do not work. I have tried replacing secphone.apk and seccontacts.apk from stock deodexed ROM, fixed permissions and that doesn't work. Anyone know what else I can try to get dialer codes working on JellyBomb ROM?

Yes where would the best place be to find it ?
All, If like me you are referring to "dialer codes" such as *2 for customer service - you have to have the sprint app installed. Gone are the days when *2 would just autodial customer service, it now opens that app. This app is debloated as a standard with many ROMS so if you want it back you need to install the sprint zone app.

you would have to download the stock rom in update zip format.
Here is mine, but I have edited quite a few things. all the dialer codes work though.

According to your post, without the Sprint Zone app, the dialer codes are not working. I froze it with Titanium back up. I defrosted it but the dial still does not work ##3282#. Nothing change.

Original thread and development/updates here
Confirmed working on Hercules running CM9, I have not tested on other ROMS including touchwiz based ones. Flash at your own discretion, I'm not liable for bricks, etc. Read directions very carefully and it works as described.
This requires root and the knowledge of how to manipulate system apps. I will not be providing support for Root Explorer/Astro/ES File Explorer/etc if you don't know how to set it to read/write mode.
Voice search WONT work. I will update the thread if someone, somewhere gets it working.
edit:Confirmed to be "working" on non-AOSP Roms, so flash away!
edit 2: New file with less force closes and more cards! No voice search still :crying:
If flashing for the first time:
Download File
Go Into /system/app and rename GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk to GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk1 (as a backup).
Go to downloaded file
Rename from Velvet-theos0o#.apk to Velvet.apk
Copy to /system/app and change permissions to RW-/R--/R--
Reboot
Open Search widget and give it a moment to start up
Go into settings->Privacy and accounts-> enable "Search on google.com"
?????
Profit
If flashing the updated file:
Download New File
Go into Applications and clear data for Google Search
Go into /system/app and delete GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk (this should be the old version of Google Now)
Go to downloaded file
Rename from Velvet-theos0o#.apk to Velvet.apk
Copy to /system/app and change permissions to RW-/R--/R--
Reboot
Open Search widget and give it a moment to start up
Go into settings->Privacy and accounts-> enable "Search on google.com"

That's really all there is to it, via EPST or APN Backup and Restore.

It's never worked for me for a Native MMS fix on Boost Mobile on an AOSP ROM from a Sense Rom.
(Restoring a Sense Nand on an AOSP Rom.)
I always had to settle for 3rd Party Messaging Clients.
But, many others have sworn by it.
Supposedly, the APN settings are left alone.
Your mileage may vary.
I modded my phone apk to get voice mail,no 3rd party needed.
And as far as mms just change the carrier from Sprint to boostmobile, in your advanced settings using epst ##3282#
Advanced

This thread is about the possibility of persistent APN settings not Boost Mobile fixes.
The context of my comment was for AOSP ROMs in which case EPST isn't available.
3rd party messaging apps that allow you to set your own APNs like Handcent or GoSMS for example is what I'm talking about and on non-Sense based ROMs is really the only reliable option.
Well I'm not sure why Samsung does this, however it drives me nuts. So here is the phone.apk without the increasing ringtone stuff.
Flash in recovery.
You must delete the "SecPhone.odex" in /system/app after installing. Until I can make a time to have the zip do it. Thanks

Thanks man.. awesome mod...needed this
I flashed from recovery, rebooted and it said updating apps, starting apps, had my wife call but it still does that lame ascending ringtone. I tried rebooting and now every time it reboots it says updating apps, starting apps.. sucks lol takes a little longer to start up now. Any way to fix? I also found the file you talked about deleting but it said it was read only.

Not sure I can be of much more help if you're on a deodexed ROM already. I've stuck with rooted/de-bloated stock for the time being. Wiping the caches solved it for me, aside from the first boot after the cache wipe, of course, but I'm still fully odexed aside from that one file I deleted.

So it looks like I need to modify the zip install to remove the .odex file.
Makes sense since de-odexing turns the .odex into a classes file inside the apk, which is then edited. I'll edit the zip today to remove to .odex file.

I don't think it's compatible. It won't install. Has anyone else been able to get 4.3's dialer installed on 4.4? Or could it be because my rom is odexed?
Edit: I pulled the dialer apk out of my nandroid backup from 4.3. I put it in system/priv-app instead of system app with rw-r-r as the permissions. It works. However once a call is dialed, the keypad disappears so I can't end a call.

Find the folder: system/priv-app/message and delete everything inside it.
Now you've got no SMS app and two options:
1. Download an aftermarket app
2. Put the APK I've attached into the folder, boot into recovery, wipe the cache partition and reboot.
You could just install the standard app as a regular app too I guess.

XX I tried this when you suggested this in the discussion... didn't work.
I had a partially damaged sim. Only thing it couldnt do was send sms.
It sorta worked for me.
I deleted the stock message app
I wanted to use your message apk, but that didn't work as it was corrupted after reboot?
But as I used Google's Messenger app on my old phone, I installed that app and when I changed all the landcodes to the normal dutch mobile numbers without landcodes, it worked.
I could fully use the messenger app.
Example: I had a number +31 6 12345678
I changed it to 06 12345678
And it works!
