I'm running on CM10 nightlies (up to the latest). I can't get my phone to do anything NFC related.
I have NFC enabled in settings, beam is on, and I installed Z-Device Test from the Play store and it tells me the NFC is indeed active.
I have a Nexus 7 and a Nexus 10 which I can use to beam (they beam fine to each other). I took my phone and ran it along the front and back of both the 7 and 10 and it does nothing.
I've searched but couldn't find anyone with a similar issue. I even installed NFC Enable script for JB - no dice.
Can anyone help me out? Am I missing something?
Edit: I should add that I have a Laza extended battery with NFC and I've reached out to them. I also stuck the stock battery back in just to see if it was the extended battery and still no luck.

Does it work on stock?
Nope.
Same here, no luck with Nexus 10.
running PA v2.55 for some time now and happened to notice this issue as well.
really wanna use this feature (particularly after seeing holiday TV spots) but just cast that silly notion aside, considering how much more mighty my phone is than everyone else's.
hope there's a keen solution

Are you using stock Battery? Or have you done something with the battery when you flashed the new ROM?
Try to remove the battery and put it back in again and see if it changes anything.
FYI The battery have to be NFC compatible since its there the "chip" or whatnot for NFC is located.
Do a factory reset. Backup ur sdcard stuff first.

Have you tried pressing the little square in front on NFC? That's exactly how mine looks if I disable NFC, and with just a click it turns back on..

fixed
Removing the battery and placing it back again worked for me.
Thanks for the tip, i should have thought about following the first rule of IT - turning it on and off again
p.s.
While looking at the battery i saw that it has "Near Field Communication" written on it. so i guess its true that the battery makes the magic happen. a little disappointing, i though it was more sophisticated than just the battery. maybe the battery is just the antenna.
Hello
On liquid smooth rom 1.4
Franco stock kernel that came with the rom.
I9250xxla2 baseband
Here is where my problem lies.
The phone is marugo bought from Google play running stock ics 4.0.4.
When I first got it, I never got a lock on GPS, having tried gmaps and GPS status and toolbox.
I thought it was a rom issue, so I rooted my phone and tried slim ics, cm9 nightly and liquid smooth rom finally settling on lsr because I found performance to be better; I'm sure there are better roms out there.
My GPS icon NEVER blinks. It just sits there saying "searching for GPS". I have gone up to the roof and sat there 30+ minutes but the icon never blinks, let alone showing satellites and locking.
How do I find out whether the GPS module is busted or not? I have gone through a few agps patches and fixes by replacing or flashing from cwm recovery.
The phone has only been used 2 weeks so I'm covered by warranty I suppose.
Now who out there can give me a solution or point me to some forum that has some.
I had no problem with my old phone, i5700. Side by side, that finds and locks gps in 2 seconds from my balcony.
The phone is otherwise great, just that the GPS issue is giving it and Google a bad name

I've moved on from Liquid. Just Google file name, or try rootzwiki http://rootzwiki.com/topic/20429-aospliquidsmooth-ics-v14-rom-5182012/
GPS icon blinking is AGPS right?
No it is not blinking at any time.
I got hold of the GPS fix liquid 125.zip and flashed it, formatted cache and dalvik just to make sure. Was out 1 hour and nothing, no activity at all.

nope. the patch has not worked. gps has been on for the last 45 minutes. no satellites.
anybody else with any other solution?
try the GPS fix patch, AND the FasterFix app to select your location
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Double.FasterFix
I have tried that too and no luck with that too. Is there a secret code for GPS test?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
sorry to state the obvious - have you tried it outdoors?
If after all this it isn't working I'm sure it is safe to assume it is busted.
"Long is the way, and hard, that out of hell leads up to light."
yes I have. On the roof, in my car. At the same time i have another Samsung phone, Spica which happens to lock in 3 seconds.
What happens now, is that the icon blinks, but no satellite

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I'll try to describe it as best as I can, I can also try to include a video the next time it happens.
When I put my phone down at night before going to bed it makes an odd sound. It sounds somewhat like a ringtone. Typically three notes descending, and then it repeats a number of times until I adjust how it is sitting.
I don't have any alarms, or anything linked to the accelerometer or gscope. It doesn't happen when I'm putting it down during the day and only some nights.
I'm running 4.1.2 (but it has persisted for at least a couple versions). It is on Telus, running the yakju build and unrooted. (unlocked bootloader).
This behaviour pre-empted getting it up to JB.
Any ideas what it could be? When it has happened I've gone into running apps (and showed chached processes) and couldn't find any offending app.

Are you putting it down near anything that could have a NFC tag (credit cards, student ID, etc...)? That sounds like the sound it would make when you "scan" an unrecognized NFC tag. You could test this by turning off NFC and seeing if it still happens.
Haha funny. Does it happen on just one surface or a plethora of surfaces?

Thank you dude! Excellent excellent call.
I've been putting my phone on my wallet for forever. My wallet has my mastercard (with paypass).
I tested holding the phone up to my credit card and the exact same sound happened, it was definitely trying to "scan" an unrecognised NFC tag.
Amazing.
And funny. lol
Well glad you figured it out, sounds like something I'd do.

Was using my Nexus 7 today w/ Portezo case.
Turned off WiFi to save battery and opened it up again and noticed it turned on instantly. No delay or not turning on at all. Always had issues previously but every time so far it seems to work perfectly. Only difference now is im on KRT16S.
Curious if anyone else's smart covers are working properly now since updating to kit kat.
You should add a poll option, "I don't have a smart cover"

I noticed this too after putting my tablet on airplane mode for the night. When I opened the smart cover in the morning , the screen instantly turned on. Before it would only wake if Bluetooth or wifi were turned on

I browse xda alot and stumbled up on many weird issues.
Maybe this thread could be an advise-thread like "don't use your Gnex with a Netgear N Wifi AP"
If there is no interest in this thread, just let it die
This is not a thread related to a specific ROM. More for flashaholic people like me who encounter little issues that occur on many different ROMs.
I will list my issues so you get an idea why I started this thread:
- If I connect my Gnex to the charger and use it, almost every time PIE will break and I cant navigate anymore (AOSP-PIE) - I have to reboot my phone.
- If I connect my Gnex to my schools WiFi (CISCO Hardware) I have constant data-download activity and my battery drains in no time
- Sometimes if I connect my Gnex to the charger it behaves like it gets plugged in and out very frequently
- At home, connected to my WiFi (Netgear Router) I have to constantly wake my Gnex to receive new messages (Whatsapp, Mail, etc.)
Maybe we can help each other with tips?
- cheers
I have none of these issues but one. The last one. I thought I was the only one! It happens randomly to me.. I tried to find a fix but havent come across any. Nice idea for a thread it helped me already

I have not faced any of these issues. Been changing ROMs ever since the day I bought the phone (A year and a half back).
That charging issue alone cropped up once. But I was able to fix it by pushing the pin in the charging port up by a bit using a safety pin
1. My volume down is busted. Pressing it on normal mode, nothing happens. In Safe Mode, it works though I have to press real hard. Due to this, cant do screenshots anymore.
2. I can connect this gnex to my computer fine but the phone does not detect the charge.
3. Much much more wakelocks when using original battery compared to a china branded replacement battery

well, that's interesting! I'm planning a replacement because my phone is two years old and so is the battery.
While using certain kernels with Trickster Mod and "set on boot" option, I get a reboot if the screen is off when Trickster applies it's settings. Took me a long time to figure this out. If the screen is on when Trickster applies kernel settings it works just fine. Never could figure out why this happens, but I use tasker to keep the screen on for 2 minutes after boot to prevent it.
