3G/4G signal booster apps? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

There are lots ofsignal booster apps in the play store that claims that it will improve the signal.
Is this for real? Do they really work? if yes, what app are you using
thanks,

I bought Fresh Network pro a while back. I really don't know how it works, but it really does. It's not a signal "booster" per se, but I'd give the lite version a try if you're getting slower than normal speeds.

Just contact T-Mobile and ask for a signal booster, they are 100% free, I got one a year ago and it has made a significant difference in my house.

When you were using fresh network. How was the battery drain?

No LTE for t-mobile gs3

I read that even when t-mobile jumps on the lte band wagon in 2013, that our gs3 phones will not be able to take advantage of the new speeds (what a drag). I'm not sure if this is really the case, but I posted the link to the article below.
http://www.galaxys3newsblog.com/t-mobiles-samsung-galaxy-s3-to-miss-lte-yet-another-dissappointment/
One thing you have to remember you always want to buy a phone that works right now for you not a phone that would work better in the future, I'm happy with hspa+ and by the time I get lte from tmobile I might have another phone anyways so I think I'm cool with that, it bee discuss in another topic too

This is true. I just thought that I would post this for those who didn't have the benefit of reading the other post. For those that don't change their phones often and intend on keeping the gs3 for some time, I thought that this was good information to help them make a well informed purchase. I hope this helped anyone that didn't know and wants to buy a gs3.
My HSPA+ speeds are consistanly faster than my friends Verizon LTE. Plus HSPA+ uses dramatically less battery. Heres my speeds in Detroit.

+1, I owned my T-989 for less then a year before buying my T-999. At this rate I'll buy a T-1000 when it comes out in 6-8 months from now.

Same here in San Diego. Verizon was fast out of the gate but they heavily over-subscribed their network and now they are lame. AT&T is the crazy fast at the moment but I expect them to be in the same boat as Verizon this time next year.

How the heck do people get such fast download speeds? i downloaded the speedtest app and I'm only pulling about 3-4 thousand kbps with 3 bars of 4G.

Practicly yes on stock 4g shows when you connected to umts(3g), hspa and hspa+(t mobile calls this 4g cause it could go up to 42mbps) but if you changed yours to stock look ( aosp) you will see your phone going at all of them and won't stay connected to one at all times, you might no notice because their 3g is not crazy slow where you live, I have good coverage specially where I live and work so I don't mind it

Honestly I dont know which one to believe. Ive read the frequency issue and one that said the T-mobile version got the 8290 chip that doesnt support LTE. I guess we will have to see when they actually launch it.

It does have LTE, just like the T-989 did, its just disabled by default. You can access this setting by opening the dialer and typing *#*#4636#*#*, and selecting radio type.
I need to get a new phone every year it just gets boring ... as soon as a good quad core comes out I'm outta here.

Network Speed

Has anyone else been getting pathetically low network speeds? I cant get more than 200kbps with two different roms that I am using. Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing it?

First of all, everyone's network speeds will vary by carrier and location.
Are you talking about wireless internet?
Are you on 3G or LTE?
What are you using to get your speed results?
My speeds could be great, and I walk two feet over and its horrible. My phone will hop to a different cell tower. Or while I'm at home I could be in a dead zone so my wireless will drop out. You need to be much much much more specific then what your telling us.
The chances of another fellow xda member using the same cell tower or your wireless router is slim to none. Just so your aware. Could be a problem with your carrier as well

I am talking about 3g and lte. It started last week and I havent had good network speeds since then. I have switched roms three times and I have not gotten any better speeds. I am using speedtest.net app to get my speeds. I am on At&t and I realize that this differs from person to person but I am just getting tired of not being able to hardly anything without wifi.

Very Slow Data Speeds (TMo)

Hi there,
I'm on T-Mo, and the XXHL1 radio, matching RIL. Recently I noticed that my speeds were well under 1 Mbps. Any reason why? I checked my account, and I'm under 2GB so there shouldn't be throttling.
Thanks!
Matt
Speeds aren't always dependent on the radio you use. In your case I might just be that your market isn't quite as optimized as others

Your coverage area, towers around you. Not every tower is optimized for high transfer speeds.

[Q] Does Mobile Data affect call quality?

I keep mobile data off most of the time.
Just wondering if it makes any difference in call quality.
Also between:
Gprs vs Edge vs 3G vs Hspa+
is there any noticeable call quality difference?
Hercules on TMo.
Thanks.

That's what I thought, but then, why are calling times rated by 3g vs 2g?
Like 16 hours of talk time on 3G and 30 hours on 2G.
What's that all about?

3g uses more battery than 2g, obviously. You don't need data on at all to make phone calls.

Slow WiFi

I purchased the G3 a week ago , hoping for a change from Samsung. The G3 is overall great but since day one had problems with WiFi. At my job it connects to WiFi but the internet wont work and all my other devices connect no problem. At home all my devices fly on Wifi but the G3 buffers and crawls to load videos and data. Im thinking about exchanging for a new G3 but i see alot of people have the same issues. Wondering is it anything i can do for the G3 to better the experience with Wifi
No troubles here
Run a speed test and let us know your results.
I don't have any issues here with Wi-Fi though lte is twice as fast.
