[REQUEST] [APP] Slide2wake...please - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hey guys i saw this awesome app on Galaxy nexus thread that allows you to unlock your phone by just swiping on the screen; No need to press the unlock button anymore, but it only works on their phone due to kernal issues, I thought if some developer here could take a look in it make it possible for our device, would be awesome.
here is the link to their thread. please have a look:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721895
THanks.

yes we need it on XS, it was awosme on GNEX

Also found it interesting.
But ... There will be impact on battery??
Sorry for bad english

worry about the battery problem....
btw I love the lockscreen action ( sliding on the back-home-menu-recent app bar) can it be ported and done by sliding on the virtual key on our phones?

So u guyz know any develoers in our forum that can do this job..?

there many Dev. Gods here on Xperia S, but don't know if any of them will be interested.
nd in my knowledge this is some sort of Kernel based mod. and there will be no battery drain. i recently had Gnex and i always use PGM, slide2wake. never have any issue with that.
any way hope there will be some Dev. who can make this work

hey guys, lets make this thread a long one so that devs can notice it. I thinks this slide2wake is a pretty neat feature we need to have in our XS. There will be no hassle anymore in trying to push the power button or the volume buttons.
Lets keep the comments coming guys

We really need this feature for my phone guys, our cool devs
Come on, we really do !!

+1 to that.

R: [REQUEST] [APP] Slide2wake...please
I'll try it in my kernel. Anyway showp1984 (bricked kernel) has it also on msm8660 board (same as our Xperia s) , so this should be possible to do

This would be a nice feature.

it is so great to make it work

such features would be great, but battery-life?!? the suggested hardwarebutton-wakeup/unlock wouldnt be bad

Yes, because at least you have to wakeup they for example every 75ms and check if there a pressure. So the battery consumption will increase, and the battery life on Xperia s it's one of the negative side. Also the sensibility of the capacity buttons it's very low, and with slide2unlock/swipe2unlock you can miss one or more button.
I think the Xperia s isn't the best smartphone for slide2unlock/swipe2unlock

As I've used Galaxy S2 with Slide to wake function, Here my experience about that function
- It's a kernel function not an app. You need a kernel that support this function. (Before I've change my device mostly AOSP kernels are supported)
- Really small to none impact on battery life.. even on a very first release. (fluxxi kernel if I'm not wrong) At most I've noticed it going to reduce your usage time about 1-2 min per 8 hour
- But sometime it doesn't respond that well (sometime I just touch then its wake... sometime doesn't ) And...yes that can be fixed in later released
- I'm pretty sure its gonna work with AOSP (Cyanogenmod) first. since there port from nexus... which is AOSP too.
Sorry for my bad English.

Up...we badly needed this one to save power button..

MIUI

um, I was just on the XDA mobile app this afternoon, saw that someone had released a miui rom with an english patch for the g2, and linked the main website for stock rom details, so I figured I'd wait till I got home, and now the thread is gone? I can't be that fuked up, I was on the subway, and lost data link

I had a feeling that the Rom wasnt gonna work. Everyone who flashed had the same problems I did 2 weeks ago. So far ive gotten a clean install with no errors but not boot. Which means kernel swaps from miui ports won't work. you have to build one.
I am the only one I believe who is actually working on this port. I won't release anything that won't boot, I've made lots of ports with 4 different kernels and they all do the same, which is not booting.
Currently learning to build g2 kernel from source so I can get port goin. If u guys wanna follow me hit me up @brownboyrx.

From what I've seen with Miui, there are several different themes. iPhone theme just happens to be one of them.
There's a lot I like and a lot I don't like about MIUI, but I think MIUI with ADW could be quite nice. I also like dev's that post bootable shiz.

Miui is a ROM built by a group of dedicated Chinese Android developers and was intended to be used in China to show off the Android platform. It was accidently discovered by a user over at the N1 forum some months ago and news of the discovery spreaded like wildfire overnight within the Android community. Since then Miui has been enjoyed and ported to a number of popular Android devices. Miui was ahead of it's time in terms of features, look and funtionality, it was repsonsible for the working of the radio on both the N1 and Desire running stock based vanilla ROM's. It has the best bits of Android and iphone and offers a very unique user experience, on a personal level the UI is intuiative yet beautiful. If you can get past the iphony look then am sure you'll enjoy this ROM if not then using a 3rd party launcher will get rid of most of the iphone look. The ROM is quick and stable and is updated every Friday at 3pm China time.
Check it out on their official website and be sure to use google translate as it's in Chinese;
http://www.miui.com/index.php
English forum;

That was a great synopsis above.
The key points of MIUI:
It is Faster
Universal Themes
I still love Cyanogen too. My nexus runs MIUI and G2 Cyan. Good mix.

I started porting today and it boots up. But if I start any app and want to go back to homescreen I get a flickering screen. I have to disable the screen and enable it again. Then it doesn't show the unlock screen, just the statusbar (without clock) and the wallpaper. But if I touch the screen on the unlock position it vibrates. But it doesn't unlock. For unlocking I have to open and close the keyboard. After that the statusbar disapears and doesn't show up anymore until I restart.
http://pastebin.com/cnVFF9WF
Guess the main problem is because of this
Code:
I/WindowManager( 1520): Out of memory for surface! Looking for leaks...
But I don't know what I can do to prevent this.
Kernel is the latest one from CyanogenMod. Many other things work like bluetooth, radio, camera, torch, wlan...
With LPP it works alot better but there are still many bugs like the unlock screen not showing up...
Well thanks very much.

Why do you WANT blur on your phone? Everyone i know with a blurred motorola phone struggles to make it blurless and wants to remove that crap as much as possible - it is a serious detriment to performance and battery life.

Because this version of blur is different from the others and better, and well because we on the g2 forums deserve variety, other than the 3 classic roms, sense,cm7 or miui. And no i dont think this rom will drain that much battery or affect performance, our gpu's beats the crap out of the omap that the droids have.
Also found that when calling someone it will restart the phone and it will keep you on the call till the os finishes reloading.

i'm guessing this is based on the Droid X GB leak - the blur is different than the blur on 2.2? My girlfriend was running stock 2.2 on the DX and getitng like 12 hrs of battery life. Then running Liberty 2.1 (blurless 2.2 based) she was getting 24 hours +. I flashed her over to the Liberty GB alphas (has a lot of blur in it) and have yet to see how the batt life is.
What i do know is that if you look @ running services (on the DX Liberty GB) and use an app like autostarts to see the on startup apps - blur has a whole ton of blur stuff that runs in the background from startup on - unrelated to ui changes and widgets.
What i fail to understand is not manufacturer ui (which differentiates) but why it has to be baked in so deep into the OS and kernel that it makes it impossible to remove if - god forbid - you want a more stock experience.
I have a lot of respect for any dev who brings more variety and software choice for our phones and i dont mean to undermine his work. I guess i just get pissed that companies like motorola make it so hard to go stock (particularly mess with that damned bootloader) that they would rather u ruin your device (i soft bricked my gf's droid x once and the only way to get back to stock is a complete SBF flash - a rare turn of events that i've never had the displeasure of running into on an HTC phone).
On a related note to this ROM, i noticed on Liberty GB (but not on Liberty 2.x) you can remove stuff from the notification area because there is a minus button (ie you dont have to clear all notifications or click on the notification itself to clear it - there is a button that enables its removal). Is this part of blur? I'd love to see this ported to AOSP.

Google has nailed it with 4.2! :D

So after a couple of hours (20+ hours ) i have used stock 4.2 with root. No other modifications.
What I think:
-excellent speed, no lag or slowdowns
-excellent battery life with the new kernel
-the colors of the screen are much better!
-lovely new camera app
Everything is just perfect. What do you guys think of 4.2?
Post your opinion

I love it! It's really fast, smooth and stable. Not a single problem in now almost two days. I like new additions, I got used to them right away. But, I've mentioned this before, the new "recent apps" is bothering me. It's really, really bothering me. I like that I can use the recent apps button while in-app to close it, but it stops right there. It's buggy like hell and it makes me feel like I'm on a nightly ROM each time I close an app. And I preferred the transparent look from 4.1. I seriously hope they'll fix it soon. Argh.
But, nevertheless, I love 4.2 - it's amazing.

of course they updated the kernel! look at the build date! and if nothing changed from the previous kernel, they could have used that one. they used a new one, and there are new changes. look at the 4.2 kernel source and you'll see
Not entirely they fubar'd the internal sdcard. Now everytime you flash a new ROM it will create a new partition in the /sdcard/ titled /0/ and you're f'd if you need a backup because thats in /sdcard/ while you're in /sdcard/0/0 :S

Guys I see many of you have lags and bugs, i suggest to wipe everything before flashing, that's what I did and I have no lag or bugs in recent apps or elsewhere...and I'm usually very picky about lags and framerate drops...really 4.2 is as smooth or better than 4.1.2 here...gmail and recent apps are smoother than ever, facebook feed scrolling is finally totally smooth, and generally 4.2 feels fast and solid, I see some nice tweaked animations here and there...
That being said I expected much more from the google development team, sure WP8 lacks a solid ecosystem, but the os itself has some cool features that I'd like to see on android...like the all in one chat app, or the app-personalized lockscreen...our lockscreen widgets can't even compare to that...seems like android team is out of imagination and is just implementing small and not useful things here and there instead of pushing boundaries

So...basically you want them to push boundaries but manage to release a very stable and solid ROM, sometimes as soon as a few months after the last release (4.0>4.1>4.2 in less than a year)? I somehow have a feeling if they had revolutionized the OS but couldn't manage to smooth out a few bugs, you'd be on here hating them for not releasing a stable ROM. I think maybe you should start deving and realize the time and effort it takes to bring new features with true stability.

Don't you think it's slightly unfair to expect so much from a point release?

So after a couple of hours (20+ hours ) i have used stock 4.2 with root. No other modifications.
What I think:
-excellent speed, no lag or slowdowns
-excellent battery life with the new kernel
-the colors of the screen are much better!
-lovely new camera app
Everything is just perfect. What do you guys think of 4.2?

[Q&A][FAQ][Support][Discussion] CSROM and Graviton

CSROM & Graviton Support and Discussion Thread
This thread was created in response to a new xda initiative to reduce non-development related posts on development threads.
An added benefit of a thread here is that users with under 10 posts can get some help (and won't have to PM me).
I will maintain just one thread (hopefully this works) for both ROMs and all carriers to help preserve my sanity.
Please be sure to specify which ROM you are using and the carrier.
Below are some examples of common types of posts and where they belong
Q&A and FAQ Thread:
"What kernel gives the best battery life with this ROM?"
"Is Nova launcher compatible with this ROM?"
"The battery life for this ROM is off the chizarts!"
"The battery life for this ROM is total crap!"
"I just flashed this ROM and my GPS doesn't work. :crying:"
Development Thread:
"The new cellular data toggle isn't working (confirmed by another user)?"
"I keep getting FC's from SystemUI. Any thoughts?"
"I selected the green battery icons in Aroma but it installed the blues ones (I checked twice)."
"I just flashed this ROM and it bricked my device! "
"The battery life for this ROM is off the chizarts!
(see attached screenshots from Better Battery Stats)."
"The battery life for this ROM is total crap!
(see attached screenshots from Better Battery Stats)."
**********************************************
There are exceptions to the examples above. If you are using a port and your GPS doesn't work I need to know that.
It will probably take some time for threads like this to evolve, so I am definitely open to feedback.

Hey guys,
ATT CSROM v1.4 GS3 - Love the ROM so far, once I got a lot of my apps and data restored and a few issues with that worked out.
Kind of a newb to customs roms. This is the first one I have put on my GS3.
As far as I can tell I am using the CS launcher and would like to the change the wallpaper on my lock screen. However when I bring up the selection screen it only give me the option to use the stock wallpapers.
Can I just move an image to the stock location and have it appear? Or is there another option?

Yeah, it get's tough sometimes. That is why guys like you and the other people that test for me are a huge help. You guys make my life a lot easier by helping out on the threads.
It won't be long before I stop supporting the Atrix. I just don't have the time and I don't use the device anymore.
There is also a pretty good chance I will close up shop for my Sprint and T-Mobile ports for this device. There is not much interest for my ROMs in either forum. Probably not a bad thing since that will lighten my workload.

I am wondering if this thread would be better in the general section. That way it can be Q&A, FAQ, and general discussion. But, like I said in the OP, this is a new concept to we will have to see how it evolves.

If you want to use anything other than a stock wallpaper for the lockscreen you need to have the Samsung gallery installed. The AOSP gallery is not compatible with the lockscreen for pics, or other images on your device.

Thanks for the answer!
Can more than one galleries coexists? If so, do I just select another one gallery in the Aroma installer and deselect all other options?
Im still kinda fuzzy on the modify/upgrade process within the installer.
Re: [Q&A][FAQ] CSROM and Graviton
Yes they can Co exist. I can't remember how many there are in aroma but you can download as many as you want. I have three not including quickpic

It's a great ROM and I used it as a base to mess with flashing different things and learning stuff. Dev and testers always help.
No matter how many others I try I come back haha

Just a mention,
I installed Light Flow Lite yesterday and toyed around with it. Long story short it broke the AOSP lock screen. By broke I mean any time I would put my phone into sleep then wake it up and interact with any function of the lock screen it would become unresponsive and reboot (fast reboot I think).
I was finally able to get out of it by bringing the notification window down and getting into settings. Disabled the lock screen and the device was fine. Uninstalled Light Flow and wiped the data with TB, but the lock screen is still broken. Haven't tried the touchwiz lock screen for fear of it being broken too.
Aside from that the batt life is amazing and everything works wonderfully. Even got another gallery installed via Aroma and can change the lock screen wallpaper (not that im using a lock screen right now).

Based on what I have read on this apps web site it wasn't meant for an aosp rom. That sounds like a matter of app not being compatible with the rom so I would say not the roms fault.
Glad you were able to get things back to normal.

You are the second or third user that had this happen. I will add a warning to the OP.
If I remember correctly, Light Flow works fine with the stock lockscreen. But you might want to wait until someone that actually uses it chimes in.

Thanks, I couldnt really find anything else that mentioned having that kind of trouble, but it definitely makes sense. And I wasnt blaming it on the ROM, just saying it was a side effect.
Maybe the mention will keep someone else from breaking their lock screen.
Again, thanks for the great rom!!

FabiansModV - slimmed down ROM of the unofficial CM10 for HTC One V PRIMOU

I've used Maxwen's unofficial CM10 for about half a year now. Despite its best performance among all tested ROMs on my One V (PRIMOU) my mobile still had its times of complete denial of service, at times I couldn't even pick up a call.
Restarting took me up to 4 minutes, because it didn't respond to the power button! The non removable battery completed the mess.
No idea if my One V is an exception, but I read about others having similar problems.
For one week I use a beta testversion of Maxwen's CM10, slimmed down to 130MB - and it runs almost lag-free! I love my mobile again!! :cyclops:
It seems my system was overloaded and could hardly keep 20MB RAM free.
Since DerGraf1997's test release, I don't want anything else.
Some bugs, like the choppy presentation of Googlemaps or the out-of-focus movie recording have been there before, I can live with that.
Someone reported a missing headphone icon, which I cannot verify, I never had one.
But the drive-you-mad lags are a thing of the past :victory:
For those capable to understand German - find it on the German Android-Help site Android-Hilfe DOT de
As a newbie here, I am unable to post external links, so look for FabiansModV by DerGraf1997 and find the links there.
(I will add them when I can)
If you already use CM10 - it works with the same Kernel - HELLBOY, no need to update.
As always: Try at your very own risk! Back up first!
It has the same functionality as Maxwen's CM10 without some standard crap (browser, explorer, live wallpapers...) you can choose yourself from the Play store. Great work, Kudos to DerGraf and his predecessors!
Long live the underestimated One V(ictory)!!!

Nice o-o
Tried this rom. Works good, but i have problem with alarm. It rings but dont pop up. So i have to sometimes slide notification bar first. Maybe it is a kernel problem. I have used latest Cm10 kernel.
Really slow comparing with CyanVivo
