Good Afternoon,
I'm having some issues with my MyTouch 3g Slide, and I was wondering if anyone could do me a huge favor and help me out. I just recently got this phone about a month and a half ago, and just rooted it about a month ago (using the new root method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754020), so I apologize for any noobness. I tried searching the forums, but I haven't been able to find anyone with this issue, so I figured I'd rather ask to see if anyone knows what to do, before I start trying methods for similar issues to fix it. Anyways, here goes:
Short version: Installed apps from market, got low space error from excess apps. Moved some with "apps2sdpro" to sd card. Next day, apps wouldn't install/uninstall, apps moved to SD card weren't showing up (SD card itself was accessible though), camera froze up after taking a few pictures and black screened on reopening after force close. Rebooted phone, received text messages which were clearly sent hours ago (yet had signal & made calls during time), sometime after moving apps. Factory reset didn't fix issues. Restored Nandroid of original stock backup, then reflashed Cyanogenmod again. Error seemed to be fixed. Next day, started moving some apps to SD again, no noticable issues (aside from weak wifi connection). Afterwards, problems installing/uninstalling apps & receiving texts again.
Longer, more detailed version:
A couple of nights ago, I was downloading some apps from the app market, and my phone started popping up a low memory storage error, so I decided to go on a purge, and move almost all of my apps to my SD card using "apps2sdpro", including the ones that according to the program, were "phone-only". I'm not sure what, but unbeknownst to me at the time, apparently something got messed up with my phone in the process. The next day, everything seemed to be working fine, though I still had a low memory storage indicator, because I didn't get a chance to move all the apps over yet. I was taking some pictures with the phone, and the camera program force closed on me after a few pictures. I tried restarting it a few times, and it would just bring up a black screen. So I figured maybe it's the low memory, and tried to move and uninstall some of the apps. Any app I tried uninstalling, just hung on the "Uninstalling..." screen. So I tried Installing some apps that I put on my sd card after downloading to my computer, and the same hanging thing, except with the installing screen. I also noticed that all the apps that I had moved to the SD card weren't showing up on my app list. When I went to the apps2sd program, no apps were showing up on my SD card, and all the apps that I could move to the SD card had "0" memory size in the phone apps section. So I restarted my phone, thinking it was just a bug. As soon as my phone came back on, I received a number of texts apparently from hours ago, one of which I know my girlfriend had sent me the night before based on the content, but I had signal all morning, and even made a few calls earlier without problems. I did a factory restore, but that still didn't seem to fix the problem. So, I restored the Nandroid backup that I made before originally flashing Cyanogenmod, then reflashed Cyanogenmod and gapps onto my phone. Everything seemed to be working fine again, so I assumed whatever the issue was, I fixed it. The next day, I started moving some apps to my sd card, and everything seemed to be working fine. Yet when I woke up today morning, I once again couldn't install/uninstall any apps, regardless of size, and after doing a factory reset, I received a text message which my friend had sent me hours ago. So that's where I stand now.
My system information, if it helps:
Phone: T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide
Android Version: 2.2.1
Kernel Version: 2.6.29.6-cyanogenmod [email protected] #1
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-6.1.1-Slide
Build Number: FRG83
Once again, I apologize for any noobness, or if I missed something obvious, but I would really appreciate it if someone could help me. I'd rather ask someone that's probably been doing this for some time, and knows what they're doing, rather than try to start taking pokes at it myself, and potentially do more harm than good. If you guys need any additional information I forgot to mention, please let me know. Thanks in advance for any help. ^_^
Did you wipe data/cache between re-installs?
Nope, only after the initial root. I saw something in one of the forums saying not to wipe out the contents because it bricks the phone or something, so I assumed that you're not supposed to do it after the initial root. ~__~
It will not brick your phone, I've done it numerous times. I'd bet that will fix your problems. Wipe data and cache in clockworkmod recovery and reflash cyanogenmod and gapps.
Thanks for the help! I've been really busy, so I just got around to trying that last night. I wiped both the cache and the data, reflashed cyanogen and gapps, and everything seems to be working fine for now, and hopefully it stays that way. The phone seemed a bit buggy at first, having trouble getting signal, but after I rebooted it again, it was working. The problem usually hides for a day or so when I think it's fixed, so I might have to try something else, but either way, I appreciate the help & reply. ^_^
I went through from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2, no problems, phone ran fine after update. Then went to 4.3, same thing. The phone was running fine so I booted back into recovery and removed Knox as well as manually rerooted by flashing SuperSU. Rebooted after that and still no problems, phone was running great. I then make a backup so I have a restore point of stock 4.3, rooted, and without Knox. I then go on and try to flash Dandroid and get a status 7 error and the phone was acting up after I rebooted.
At this point I go back to my backup and simply restore it and reboot again. The phone boots up, so that's a good thing. The problem is the GApps will not run and it continuously has a pop-up notification. The phone is rendered unusable like this. I got lucky once and was able to try and launch ROM Manager to see if fixing permissions would work, but it also closed. I tried flashing a 4.3 GApps package with no success and even tried reflashing the 4.3 update but got a status 6 error.
I'm at a loss here, does anyone have any ideas on this?
Not sure if this will help much, but even when plugged in via USB my computer will not recognize the device. The S3 states that it is connected and it does show up in Device Manager, it just won't show up as any kind of readable memory.
Trying to ADB sideload a rooted stock 4.3 ROM now. Any advice at all would be a help.
EDIT: I took a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJ-eaQ_9mVI) of the problem so everyone can see what I'm talking about and I also found a fix.
I'm not sure what was causing it, but after a solid day of researching it online the closest thing I got was resetting app preferences and also trying to clear any data of Google apps. This seemed to sometimes slow the popups down for me or create a longer gap before they just came right back in full force. So, going off that small success I had managed to navigate my way over to Settings -> Accounts -> Backup and reset -> Factory data reset and ran that. The first boot after that took a very long time, I'd say a solid twenty minutes but it did work. No more error and everything has been going smooth for me since. A restore of apps with Titanium Backup also did not bring the problem back up again, so the device seems to be good as new again.
I apologize if any of these is out of line, I just thought I would follow up with a solution in case anyone else has this problem and can't seem to fix it. Maybe this will help them.
Hello all
I have a GTN7100 running Phantom v11 N7100XXUFNI1 Aug 29 2014 3.0.31 kernel
KitKat 4.4.2
After seeing how fluid Lollipop is on this device it seems almost natural to want nothing else - Considering with my current ROM i have a memory issue, After booting, I have 850mb free from 2GB.
Within an hour i have 250mb, And everything becomes horribly slow. Constantly having to clear ram, Eventually this does nothing and it sits at 1.68GB ram usage with 85mb free.
Basically a slideshow. Forcing me to hard reboot.
Now I have 3 issues
1. Im running TWRP 2.8.0.1 And im worried ill have a soft brick, As i had this issue installing my current rom and had to do a bunch of sniffing around for answers which was very frustrating
2. I have a 64gb SD card i heavily rely on, And several other CustomRoms have had issues with my Card - Originally i had to buy a new 64GB card as for some stupid reason my previous one was wrecked after installing KitKat - It simply couldnt be read, Tried a bunch of tricks on my PC with it and to no avail. And this isnt something i want to go through again!
3. I have around 10k Text messages i need to backup - And upon coming to KitKat i lost over 50k messages as it was easy to back them up -- But to this day completely impossible to restore [ Phone locks up 80% of the way through, I left it running for almost a solid 24hr] And i need 'All' my Txts and what not restored easily after upgrading -- which programs like SMS Backup and Restore just cant offer as it seems anything over 5k messages just becomes a BS waiting game that never ends, And if it does end - No Messaging apps will open, None will repopulate conversations, And im forced to wipe everything clean as i was with my current ROM.
Lastly I apologize for just how No0B i sound, I have done alot of digging here, Found some solutions. But then theres things that contradict those fixes and confuse me!
I am over the memory leaks of my current ROM and to be honest after seeing a friend with his Nexus 6 running lollipop im in LOVE with the OS. Its beautifully simple and so fluid!
Hoping someone here can give me some simple tips on how to easily backup txts - Restore them so that messaging apps actually repopulate properly. - Can tell me if my SD card will work properly, And finally will my memory woes be solved? Or will Lollipop have even more issues with memory leaks?
Any help you guys can give is hugely appreciated!
Many thanks!
Okay Ive upgraded to Lollipop - Got stuck in a loop. Tried 2 other ROMS, Both looped. Found a 3rd Lollipop rom, Which is working.
Backed up my 10k txts, Restored them.
And agian, No messaging app opens anymore ughhhhhhh..
Just opens, Then closes. Tried 5 apps off the appstore.. Same thing...
When i went to KitKat and had this issue no one replied for a fix, Ended up having to wipe all my messages and just deal with it.
Can someone help this time around plleeassee??
I really need these txts
All help appreciated
Hey guys, it's my first post here, hope someone is able to help!
A few weeks ago I bought my LG G3. It had a problem, it was randomly rebooting throughout the day. I was told that installing a custom ROM might help, so I installed CloudyG3. It didn't help with reboots at all. Then I was told that getting a new battery might fix it. Getting a new battery didn't fix it either. I Decided to re-install the ROM, flashed with Autorec, went online to download and install TWRP and it restarted right at that time..... Now I'm getting "unfortunately system UI has stopped working" error non-stop. I did factory reset but it doesn't help. Now I can't even pass initial setup screen you get after factory-reset because for whatever reason I can't select Wi-Fi in the "Set Internet Connection" page (I keep tapping it but it can't be selected. I think the non-stop UI error I mentioned above keeps interrupting it) which is awful because you can't pass the setup screen without signing into your google account. The worst part is that I can't boot into recovery because I'm an idiot and deleted TWRP after installing Cloudy 2 weeks ago.. If only I knew..
Anyways, am I completely screwed here? is my phone "Bricked"? what should I do? If you know of any solutions, links to the relevant guides/threads would be greatly appreciated.
Big thanks in advance to anyone who responds!
Shameless bump...
So about a few years ago, I tried to root my galaxy note 4 (n910aucu2doi3), but I guess it rejected the root because it instantly bricked my phone, to the point where I had to completely wipe it using android recovery. The only way to get my operating system back was to download it online and install it through my PC (I had to find the exact version for my phone as well, 5.1.1 at the time, because it rejected every single other version).
Everything seemed to be working fine, except that I couldn't install software updates on my phone anymore. It was permanently stuck on 5.1.1. It was a bit of an annoyance but I didn't think much of it at the time.
Fast forward to now, and I'm getting several signs that my OS may be corrupted. My phone is constantly freezing, crashing and restarting. Maneuvering through applications causes the phone to freeze for a few seconds before either restarting or crashing the app. I want to say it's definitely a software issue, but I did install a new battery recently and it was working fine for a few weeks, could that be the issue?
If not, I want to start over, but I'm not sure how, and I don't know if it's safe to do a factory reset on this OS. Is there anyway I can get a fresh stock version of an android OS that can also update?
Any help is appreciated, I'm pretty much desperate.
I manually updated to 6.0.1 with the help of this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-att/general/updates-thread-t3663943
It seems to have fixed the issues so far, and my phone can automatically update again
