[Q] Need help rooting - Stuck on Google logo and unlock screen. - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I was trying to root the phone using Nexus Root Toolkit 1.6.1. After unlocking the phone, I clicked on root (checked custom recovery). It rebooted couple of times. Waited for more than an hour. now the phone is stuck on the google logo and unlock screen. How should i go about this? Did i brick my phone? Please help.

Reflash stock image via odin and reinstall drivers then try again.there are bunch tutorials how to reflash via odin, search for it.

I will not recommend odin unless fastboot is not working. Odin is a leaked samsung tool, I would not use it unless i really have to. Fastboot however is a google recommended tool to flash a stock image for nexus devices.
Read this guide to flash to flash to stock andriod:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
Then this one to root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529058

Lol odin is a great tool and its plain simple.

A great tool? yeah right. A tool the community knows nothing about, at a more specific and technical level; If you were talking about heimdall (which is open source), maybe I would agree a little bit more with you.
- f up your phone, then go tell them you used Odin so they will laugh straight to your face
- if you were supposed to use Odin, don't you think Google would supply the factory images on a Odin format? lol
- Download mode is rather primitive
- Plain simple tool? LOL! Seriously, no tool can get more simple than fastboot, you're kidding yourself.
- Odin only works on Windows.

Galaxy Nexus won't boot properly, looking for pointers

Basically I made a mistake and encrypted my CM9 install and then CWM wouldn't recognize my sd card partition so I can't flash roms. I then made another stupid mistake and tried to use boot manager to boot another ROM. Now it just hangs on boot. I can get into ODIN mode and into recovery but I can't do anything.
Please advise.
I'm just going to start by saying all questions go in Q&A. Not that I particularly care but there are many people that do. Can you boot into boot loader? Is it unlocked?

Ok, disregard my post. I seem to have fixed it. I used odin to reflash everything. I followed the instructions from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426207
Downloaded Odin from here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?p4ur1ynojpwlqtk
Used the samsung drivers from here:
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-nexus-all-things-root/451898-galaxy-nexus-adb-usb-driver.html
And the image from here:
http://min.us/mbpseAX5uz
I had trouble finding them all so hopefully this helps people in my same situation track everything down.
Lol the hell man. Anyways, thankfully it worked out.

If maybe a mod could move my thread I would be grateful. I didn't notice the sticky about the Q&A forum. I don't post too often on XDA (mainly lurk) so I didn't even think to look.

Help With Soft Brick

Hi there,
Can someone please help me as I think I have soft bricked my phone and can't figure out how to fix it.
I previously had a rooted device running Phandroid.
I then used the Toolkit and attempted to "Flash an unsecure boot image". Since then, my phone will not boot up. It hangs at the samsung logo screen.
I have used Odin to flash a default "STOCK" image on the device, but the same problem exists.
I tried flashing new boot images but the same issue exists. Perhaps I am using the wrong file?
If anyone has any tips I would really appreciate it.
Thank you.
first shouldve put this in q&a
second factory data reset then flash back stock with odin then you should be good

thanks for the reply. i realized my mistake. i flashed the international boot image instead of the one for my device. can you please advice me on how to fix it. I tried flashing the stock rogers firmware with odin but its not working.
i realized the secret. After flashing the stock rogers firmware, you must boot into the default android recovery and wipe your cache and data.
that resolved my boot-freeze issue.
thanks.
This is the second post that I have seen tonight regarding this same problem. What the heck is happening here?

JTAG repair is your only option. You've hard bricked your phone.

If he is able to reach download mode then this statement is completely false, not to mention the problem was fixed at the time of your post.....
Missed his response.
In my experience flashing the wrong firmware means hard-brick.
Cheers.

More often than not, yes it does....but it is not an absolute your are F'ed. It is still worth going through all the possibilities of getting into download mode and correcting the error before immediately condemning someone to a potentially costly repair.
True enough.
That's why I got a jig - just in case.

No Display?

Not sure if this should go into the development forums or here.
I got my Galaxy S3 a few days ago, rooted and flashed a custom ROM. I decided I didn't like it, so I downloaded the unrooted stock ROM here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099
After doing that, I was able to get the phone to boot, but when trying to apply root again, it causes it to fail. Figuring it was a fluke, I tried the process again (apply stock ROM, boots fine, reboot to apply root from recovery).
Now, the phone boots with the Samsung logo, then the Galaxy S3 Logo, then it goes black. I can hear the audio from the Sprint boot animation, then the led flashes blue and I have no display. After a few seconds, I also get the tone from my PC that it's connected via USB, but the card and phone don't mount, so I can't access the file system.
Any ideas? I can get to download mode and the default recovery.
Thanks!
Find the Odinable version of stock. Remember, when you root this phone, you can't reboot when Odin "passed" you have to remove the battery and turn it on in recovery mode.
Or check in Original Development. I think there's a root method by Chainfire.

Thanks, csmasn!
I used the stock ROM here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737859
And managed to get it working again.
First unless you are a developer releasing something never make a thread in development.
Second this is a question so should go in Q&A. Rule 15 will help you decide where to post.

[q] someone help me please, samsung won't boot :((

Hello, I honestly hope someone can help me !!
My phone won't boot up at all. I keep getting the Samsung logo with the words "recovery booting...." in the top left corner but it never boots into recovery mode.. I'm able to go into the other mode(forgot the name of it) but anything I flash in Odin fails.. Does any have any ideas on how I can get my phone back up and running.? I really need your help
What cause this..?
I wanted to flash a rom so I booted into recovery but didn't know how to backup my phone using Android System Recovery 3e. There was know option for backup. I then proceeded to flash cwm_Superuser_v3.0.7. When I tried to reboot after the "pass" flash, it never went into recovery and now everytime I take the battery out and try to turn it on, it still wants to try to reboot into recovery... ( HELP ME PLEASE..!!!
Were you rooted running a custom.recovery prior to flashing ?

Watch this it should get you back to stock. Then I suggest you read up on what you are doing before trying it again. It sounds like you were not rooted or you didn't have the right recovery before doing whatever you were trying, but we need a lot more info about what you did and were trying to do before we can help you.

Basically, this is what happened:
I wanted to flash a custom rom for the first time so I decide to backup my apps first, which I was successful. Then, I process into recovery to do a complete backup but did not see any option for backup. The recovery was "Android System Recovery 3e". I didn't know how to use it so I then proceed to flash CWMv3.04 using Odin, which it pass. I rebooted my phone, the Samsung logo came up with the word "recovery booting..." but never went into recovery and now that's all it keeps doing.....

Yeah, I tried that but it failed everytime.. I fixed my phone tho, I used another laptop. For some reason my laptop don't like Odin. I uninstalled the Samsung drivers, got rid of Odin, reinstalled everything, tried again but it still failed.. I don't know why my laptop is doing that but I got it now.
Thanks everyone for your help.!

[Q] Odin crash while flashing Note 2

I am a noob but have to start somewhere. I spent nearly 2 days reading tutorials and forums before trying to root my note 2 I317. I have never rooted or jailbroke anything before.
I am using mskips toolkit and crashed when I hit the pdf button in odin. I robooted my pc while phone said Downloading...I am trying to avoid disaster.
Not sure what would be best. Reboot options in toolkit? I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks
If your stuck in download mode to reboot your phone just pull the battery. For rooting use chainfires method in the original development section

Thanks for the reply. This forum is really helpful. Removing the battery was the fix. I was using toolkit and did not realize i needed to update to find my build. Other than that, it was fairly easy...for a grower of grapes ; )
