Glitch?

So randomly my phone will be really glitchy and i don't know why. It's kind of tough to explain, but its like an extra set of hands (not mine) is touching the screen. For example i'll be in the middle of typing a word in sms and it's as if someone clicked on the screen so it stopped in the middle. Or it'll go from my keyboard typing screen to the conversation and then to select which messages to delete. It starts randomly vibrating like it does when the screen is being touched when i'm not touching it. It's really annoying cause it seems to always happen when i need to be having a serious convo lol! it'll just start vibing like crazy and then exit sms go to my apps or just open up the convo and then somehow scroll all the way up to the top! and just random **** like that. it's so annoyinggg someone helpp meeeeeee

Task Killers, Non oem chargers, and/or not doing a factory reset after the gingerbread ota will cause this possibly. You can also try clearing cache for messaging.

Try recalibrating it, if that doesn't work then i'm afraid you'll have to factory reset it.

sorry for the late response thanks for all you're help so far.
i'm running RMK's gingersense. i did a full wipe after installing it and updating it. i did have a lot of text messages so i changed the setting to auto delete after 100 and i stopped using task killer. it looks like its helping it hasn't occured since. thanks for all you're help guys. i just remembered that the battery would get really hot when it would glitch so maybe i just had too many messages for it to handle. thanks guys!!!

[Q] Lag while typing?

I apologize if this has been answered before but I have a strange issue with my phone while typing. I often switch between CM7 and MIUI and I experience this problem on both ROMS. Sometimes, the keyboard will begin missing almost half off the letters that I touch. It almost feels like the Gingerbread keyboard has lost its multitouch capability. I don't always experience this issue, however it seems to occur at random times and a restart normally fixes this issue. Sometimes it only takes a minute or two before this issue begins, sometimes it works with no problems for a day or two. I have factory reset my phone as well as cleared cache and dalvik but the problem always comes back.
Does this appear to be a hardware issue or do others experience this problem.
This is my 4th Evo and I know this did not occur on any of the other Evo's that I owned. The current one I have is Rev003.

Is your haptic feedback for the keyboard turned off? Cause for me it always seemed to cause lag. If that'd doesn't work you can always use a different keyboard such as swype or swiftkey

i have had this happen in the past, and i dont remember what i did to solve it, i think there may have been a app hogging the resources causing all other aspects of the phone to lag

The answer is low memory. install advanced task killer app and when that happens, run it and clear all the junk and boom. everything will be fast again. lol. all solved. :-D

No no no...android has built in task management and advanced task killer will Jack up ur phone. Look for supercharger in the evo general section. Following the ops links in 1st thread to the main thread. Use the update 9 and then run with script manager. Use aggressive #2 and then enjoy ur non lagging phone. The script pretty much reorganizes the way ur memory is handled.

Task killers are for people on 2.1 and lower, or people that have no idea how to work their phone.

OP, I had a very similar issue recently, but it has gone away. I would be typing and the keyboard would stop registering what I was typing, so I'd stop typing. A second or two later it would catch up all at once, you could feel the haptic feedback going nuts. I have my haptic feedback turned down about as low as it will go while still being able to feel it. I don't know if that matters. It also happened across multiple keyboards.
I believe it stopped doing it after my most recent full wipe. I stay on MIUI & just do updates, so I try to do a full wipe every 3-4 weeks. Try that, wiping cache/dalvik might not be enough.

Keyboard lag
I do not have haptic feedback on and I do regularly factory restore. I have experienced this problem before immediately after completing a new install.
I thought it may have something to do with being a memory leak but I haven't experienced this issue on any other Evo I have tried. Also, I don't see any performance issues anywhere else with the phone. Only the keyboard experiences this issue.
I haven't tried using a different keyboard as I really like the gingerbread keyboard. I will try another for testing purposes next time it happens but I don't want to have to switch.
And I'm going to stay away from task managers as they can do more harm than good. I'm just trying to find out if others experience this issue and what they have done to fix the problem. I didn't know if it could possibly be a hardware issue with the touchscreen.
Like I have said clearing cache, dalvik cache, and factory defaults have not fixed the problem. Is there anything I may be missing?

Extreme phone lag

Okay, so I recently flashed the infamous ROM for my phone, and it was okay except that it started lagging bad. I assumed it was the ROM and had no time to fiddle with it and figure out if it was something else. I then flashed Darthstalker ROM (latest) and it was super fast and responsive at first, but after a bit of use, it started really slowing down and lagging again. I'll click on an app and it takes a couple seconds to open up. I'll be Swyping and it's almost impossible because of the lag. I'll be trying to watch pr0n on Chrome and opening up new tabs of sexy vids only to have it slow down to a stop and then reboot. Then I cried because the videos looked really sexy and I had opened them in Incognito Mode so there was no way of finding them ever again. This lag is everywhere. When I receive a text message, the notification is even lagged. Screen turns on, then a second later the sound plays. I was going to post this through my phone but when I was searching threads by typing in "lag", it took a good 20 seconds to zoom into the Typing Bar and for the actual word "lag" to show up.
I've reflashed a bunch of times and each time, it kills me because it takes me forever to re-set up my phone. I have an application called Fast Reboot and I do it often now and it sort of helps at first but then the lag starts up immediately or a minute later. Obviously, I do not think the ROM is the issue (I don't think at least). Is it an app? A service?
I haven't had the time to really sit down and diagnose the phone (Busy student who just wants to do work and fap).
I took a screenshot of what was killed during a Fast Reboot.

Things I've tried now that I'm done with classes for the day:
Watchdog (nothing?)
Apps2SD (moved what I could. like 5% improvement?)
Greenify (Went on green spree. Practically almost every appropriate app I greenified )
LagFix
Nothing has really worked. Help? A slow phone is an unusable phone for me :c
UPDATE:
I reverted back to full stock and decided to run it like this for a while. It's been hell. I hate stock. The battery life is terrible. But anyway, the aforementioned lag sort of happened here and there, but not as bad as when I had a custom ROM. In other words, I'm still confused as to what the **** is going on or what to do. I've checked the "Running Apps" and there isn't much there. I've tried force stopping each one to see the effect but the lag persists. Sometimes I'll just restart my phone and it'll be even worse! Help?

I've been at this for about a month. Anyone? :/

I'd Odin back to stock and start over.

This is not just with the custom rom.
I'm stock and rooted, have the same issue. It will go away if you factory reset.
It will may go away when you clear your dialer log.
I'm not sure what is causing this and I'm also looking for a solution.

Have you by any chance tried to use the phone without the sd card?
If still does it after a factory reset, then it doesn't seem to be a software problem. Touchwiz is heavy, but not to the point being unusable like you are describing.

Phone slowing down?

I am using a HTC One M8 (ATT model, Best Buy edition)
There are no threads about this issue that I haven't checked: my phone seems to be acting not only sluggish, but some other weird things seem to be happening.
- Google Play Store seems to be taking forever to start to download, downloads fine, takes forever to start to install, and about 20 minutes later (if the app hasnt been killed off by then since I have only 1 app in the background, to see if that fixed my lag issues before switching to just 1 app in background) it finally installs.
- Quickpic doesnt seem to want to load anything at all (I use it as my main app to view pictures since HTC Gallery cant view animations in a loop). It just sits there at a black screen with a loading circle at the top, no thumbnails or folders show up. I have cleared the phone's cache with
- Rebooting does nothing to solve my issues.
- Restoring to factory default does nothing to solve my issues.
- Restricting background processes to 1 does nothing to solve my issues.
- Disabling Power Saving mode entirely does nothing to solve my issues.
- Disabling apps that I don't use does nothing to solve my issues.
Anyone know what my issue is and how I could fix it? This would be extremely helpful, thanks.
FYI, I am not rooted, I will save this as a last resort if need be.
**Edit** using App Cache Cleaner app, apparently my phone storage is at 23.6 GB/ 24.8 GB. Will try seeing if cleaning up some stuff manually fixes this.

Seems weird. Install CPU spy and see what frequency your processor cores are running at.

The top 3 states are:
2265 MHz 29%
300 MHz 18%
1958 MHZ 17%

Wow I derped pretty hard, the issue was fixed when I checked the box with "Erase all data" under Reset Phone. Didn't check that when I reset it the first time. Guess I had too much media on it...?

Glad you sorted it out. Too much media should not be an issue, but a complete wipe will usually fix things.

Strange edge lighting behaviour

So I have a really strange thing going on with edge lighting which is driving me crazy.
Whenever I play Elder Scrolls Blades the edge lighting appears but only in the bottom of the screen. As far as I been able to tell this only happens in this app though I can't be 100% sure.
Now what is strange other than it happens only in the bottom of the screen is that it keeps happening every few seconds, there is no notifications received and it happens, if I disable edge lighting it still happens, no matter to what effect I set the lighting it always happens in stock blue.
I can't possibly figure out what is this and I tried everything, any ideas would be appreciated.

Thought it was related to spen, but it seems not...
Tried to disable Game Launcher but still got these random bottom screen notification pulse... And stock blue aswell. Got no clue atm

Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one experiencing this. I tried literally everything and nothing seems to fix it. What's also weird is that the lighting comes in irregular intervals, sometimes just going crazy and sometimes appearing much less.

I have just discovered this issue appears in all games so it's a bigger problem then I originally thought. If disabling the game launcher does nothing then it makes it even more strange and annoying.

Yeah, same here, happens on basically all the games.

Let's try to compare our setup : are you using any notification enhancement app? (like aodNotify)

But yeah, this random glow line **** is driving me crazy too!

Currently I am using aodNotify though I tried uninstalling it and the problem persists, I also have goodlock installed and the edgeslighting+, same thing with and without it. I am not using the spen, but I have tried just taking it out while the game is running and leaving it out for 5 mins, no change. I have disabled and enabled the stock edge lighting as well and the problem is still there. Nothing seems to effect it. Its ridiculous

i tried on mobile legend adventure, no problem on it, perhaps a scaling issue?

Increasing dpi doesn't change the weird thing, neither switching from Samsung stock launcher to Nova...
Also I'm using gestures based navbar, but I also tried with or without tips display, standard navbar... Still occurring.
Did you go from a scratch Note 10+ or used SideSync to switch? (I was coming from a Note 8)

I don't think it has anything to do with scaling, I tried setting the game on full screen and automatic, both giving the same results.
I used Smartswitch from Note 9.
Later today the camera effect from aodnotify started appearing in the game aswell (landscape mode), along with the edge lighting.?
I uninstalled aodnotify afterwards, found out there is a aodnotify Manager plugin which stays after uninstalling the main app.
Uninstalled the plugin aswell, opened edgescreen from the system app and cleared cache.
It was showing the app was using RAM with high frequency.
I don't have the time to check now does this fix the problem but will let you know once I do.
The only other thing left to do if this doesn't work is to clear edge screen data.

Will try this aswell, and restore all the notifications and edge lightning settings...

What I wrote above didn't work so I disabled the option for edge screen to show on top of other apps, so far this seems to fix the problem.

Unfortunately I was wrong and nothing above fixes the problem. I also wiped the entire edge screen memory, no effect. This is the weirdest thing I ever encountered in my years of Samsung phones and it's extremely annoying that there is no fix.

Did you try with and without locking the screen orientation to see if edge lightning follows settings as it should?
I personally only use auto orientation.

I also use auto rotation and it happens the same way in landscape and portrait, the most annoying thing is that it happens really much, like 2-3 times in 10 seconds, or sometimes doesn't happen for few minutes then starts going like crazy, and as I said before there is no notifications or anything.

Same here, auto rotate on, only occurring during games.
I don't even know if I can debug which process is running these random edge notifications, without dig into tons of log files...
And if not, I guess I'll try to factory reset and re-sync again..

Its incredible that a factory reset seems like only possible solution left but I hope maybe some future update will fix it since I hate doing factory reset. Please keep me posted if you discover anything new.

Hating doing it aswell but this is too damn annoying..
If no clue, I'll go for a restore without restoring system settings... Maybe some notifications behaviors have been messed up

Yes it happens in all games no matter of the screen orientation. I really have no more ideas aswell
