Note 2 interferes with car fob? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Use to have an S2 and it didn't have any issues with my car fob. Now, when i have my note 2 in the same pocket as my car fob, the car won't respond (open doors, start engine). I've turned off NFC and Sbeam, but that didn't help. Any ideas?

New battery for the remote??

already did that. Was one of the first things I did.

what car? i know my brothers 2010 mitsubishi lancer had a keyless entry system, and if the key was too close to your phone it was liable to wipe it. Could be that the antenna of the Note II is more powerful than the S2

Car Kies, of course...

Interesting... I was just thinking that my remotes needed new batteries as they seemed to have very limited distance. I don't keep my phone in my pocket but on a case on my belt within inches of my keys. Even after swapping batteries the remotes are not nearly as effective. So after reading this I walked outside and left the phone in the house and they worked fine. Came back out with the phone next to it and I had to get within 5 feet for the cars to unlock. Both are MB's but ones nearly new the other about 5 years old. I'm going to disable wifi and NFC and see if either makes a difference.

yea, reading about it online and it looks like I am not the only one, and I'm lucky to only experience it now. Wonder if a key fob leather case would help...

Did airplane mode or nfc change anything? I don't have any worse range with my fob.

Note 2 vehicle mount

Can anyone recommend a good vehicle mount for this phone? I would like to get one that will fit with a slim case.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I got mine from ProClipUSA. Not sure if it'll allow for a thin case, but the holder is great. Especially because the mount and phone holder are separate components, so if you get a new phone, you can just swap out the holder

Maybe check out arkon( http://www.arkon.com/ )
Or mountek ( http://www.mountek.com/ )
Both work fine for my sgn and I am certain they'd work fine for sgnii

same here! i had the s3 one too. i ordered this one ahead of time and i tested my friends t-mobile note 2 in it. for now it holds my s3
any chance any of these vehicle mounts come with micro-usb charging built in?
I'll be making the jump to the GN2 on Friday, however my current car mount for my Atrix has a Micro USB connector built in (stock moto car mount) so I don't have to plug the phone in manually when I get in the car, nor unplug when I get out.
i have the Exogear mount and it has worked really well for my note 1. My note 2 comes in this week, but since its not as wide, i know it wont be a issue even with the case. http://www.amazon.com/Exogear-Exomo...092825&sr=8-12&keywords=car+mount+galaxy+note Kind of nice having a universal mount so you dont have to keep buying a new one every time you get a different phone.
Isn't there an official one?

This is sadly just a mount. What I'm seeking is a Car Dock that includes charging, audio, USB for flash Media.
Something that has a mount and supports features like: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EDD-S20JWEGSTA
Ok, without the HDMI. This desktop dock has charging, powered OTG USB ports, Audio & HDMI outputs.
Is there no Car Dock with similar capability?

In landscape with my note1, i had to add some of the little felt pads that you would use with furniture to get a tight fit. Depending on the case, you may not have to do this. I have it in a 04 gto and so far it works well.

[Q] AT&T Box and no headphones?

I just pre-ordered the Note II through AT&T. After watching a couple unboxing videos online, I noticed the Note II comes in some ugly AT&T box and not the official box Samsung provides like they do with the international/Sprint/Tmobile models. Also, no headphones. At first I thought they were just demo units sent to reviewers but it appears that might not be the case? Did AT&T take away the box and headphones leaving us with just the phone and charger basically?
This isn't new for ATT at all. They did the same with the note 1 and almost every other phone. They have their orange box and now also their brown and green recycled boxes. Not sure about the headphones though. But really? Why fuss about a box?
Sent from my SGH-I897 using Tapatalk 2
It seems to be the case. If you go on the website it also lists what's in the box and earphones are not mentioned.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda app-developers app
My ATT Note 2 is the same; orange box, no headphones. The most infuriating part is I got a white charger and white sync cable with a graphite phone.
I hope this isn't true makes me feel like I'm getting something that has already been opened.

Yes, it feels like you're receiving a second hand product. Part of the fun is opening a sealed box and seeing the phone for the first time. Knowing AT&T has already handled the phone and removed the headphones is a bummer.
But at least they didn't stick their logo on the home button. :silly:
I don't care who touches the phone or who handled it first, just ship me the damn thing!!! Lol
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
I'm going to be using my Bluetooth LG Tone headset but why would they remove the headset out of the box? Makes no since what so ever
One thing alot of companies can copy from apple is the fact that they don't let carriers boss them around. Why would Samsung let this happen? Yes the headset that come with 99% of the phones out there suck ass, but at least you have them out of the box.
I opened a sprint gNote2 today at work. Headphones. I wouldn't have cared if every carrier took them out but I hope its not just ATT. Not that I don't have like 8 pairs of Sammy headphones its just the principle
Sent from my SGH-I897 using Tapatalk 2

And no carrier logos
Thats cause samsung let at&t repackage with the cheap at&t box. If it came packaged directly from samsung like the gs3 then we'd get the headphones. Jerks.
what the hell are they going to do with all those headphones
I think AT&T gets just the phone, charger, and manual? Cheaper for them to buy from Samsung without headphones
Mine arrives tomorrow. I will try to remember to post what kind of box and what was contained. And yes I prefer an oem style box instead of a rebox. Just personal preference. I want the box to match the maker. Also a pair of headphones I can give to the kids is not a bad thing.
Why are people so upset at not getting a pair of $5 headphones after buying a $300/$650 device?

I agree. This 30 pin connector, proprietary charging, no HDMI, coupled with no JB 4.2 so no miracast, this is one disconnected, connected, wired and shackled but supposedly mobile device.
I've only had it for three weeks and I miss a more connected, but liberated device.
It's frustrating cause this could be soooooo good.

my playbook, and my note 2 use 2 amp chargers. I just lucked or on the 30 pin connector because I had a mini usb to 30 pin connector for my tab 2 7.0, and an extra cable.
The tf300 was a dream to type on with the dock, but honestly, my note 10.1 kicks the crap out of it. The oem cover works great, with the exception of a lot of e's that come out 3.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
I had no idea that this was happening.
It would be awesome if Samsung could come up with a transformer-esque type of keyboard/cover, or even a touch-cover like the Surface.
It makes the idea of a "Note netbook/laptop" a good one, but with two separated accessories i.e. stand + bluetooth keyboard, that idea is gone.
Shame :/
The tablet must be a tablet, not a computer if you want a computer buy it separately. A tablet is made for commands through touchscreen, if you want to have a tablet with dock keyboard buy a tablet-pc ( i own one..)

Eh? I can find the Samsung connector (which is actually a standard called "PDMI") just about anywhere (at least in the States), I've got more charger options now than i had with my Moto Xoom, especially if you buy one of these. HDMI and AllShare Cast work on my device, too.
I've used 4.2 and we're not really missing much useful save the multi-user feature.
I have 4 BT Keyboards, including one with a built-in stick mouse and a cover that folks to make a stand; the combo (which is light enough I carry it around in a case with my Note) gives me everything I could get with the KB dock except maybe charging and it's apparently more portable as well.
I'd say we're pretty well-connected

This. I've been able to travel with only my tablet (on certain business trips even) and have most of what i'd needed to do be accessible that way.
I went to verizon yesterday & saw a Samsung branded Keyboard dock for the Tab10.1. I tried it with the display model Tab 2 10.1 & it fit. I thought that the Tab 210.1 & the Note 10.1 were the same size. I was gutted to find it was not. It works if you pull out the plastic guide/holder, but then it is kind of flimsy in there. Bummer.
Wasnt there a rumor somewhere that one of Samsungs next tablets was going to be transformer-esque? I could have sworn I read something a few months ago about it.

Well, with the GNote 10.1 LTE coming to VZ soon, I'd expect they'd be getting accessories there, too (and likely to be hugely overpriced), so I'd come back again a little while after the GNote's available in VZ stores.

That sounds sort of narrow-minded in my opinion. Why can't a tablet be both or why can't a computer be a tablet? For an artist like me, I would love the opportunity if tablets got powerful enough to rival their notebook counterparts and offered a desktop view as well as for easy access with a keyboard and trackpad.
With the move of ultrabooks , especially the Surface Pro, converging into tablet territory with full features, one must consider that to be a blessing than a curse. Think about it in this way: Would you carry a radio, cd player , portable DVD player with TV, game system and an ereader just to be able to use them, or would you opt for the simpler solution of an all in one deal? That is the number one reason why the iPod took off: portability. Not only can you get a radio, but a music player and now video, games and reading.
It gets roughly cumbersome to carry every single CD, DVD ,game cart/disc in addition to the hardware , let alone the books for brief reading in commutes in comparison to an all out deal.
For the average consumer and artist, such things are so hard to get that it is pushed towards the rich ,but now similar tech now exists that has the potential to allow for maximal power and capability and the ability to change form factors on the fly. Why should people have to be inconvenienced to buying several different products that can be brought under one device when it can be deducted into one singular product that is amazing and does it all , broadly speaking?
If we went by this flawed logic an mp3 player must play music only, but no radio , thus how would iPods and whatnot be popular if they didn't serve multiple functions simply?

Thanks.....I think. Glad to hear about the PDMI. Just have to figure out how to use it.
What I was trying too say is everything is an add on so my kit ends up being as bulky as my ultrabook and far more prone to losing some piece that makes the whole thing work. my last tablet logged about 100k+/- frequent flyer miles. Using one power brick with one power end, one multi headed usb, one multi headed hdmi, one universal battery charger brick fit neatly in an airplane amenity bag, and served two cameras, one phone and a tablet. Needed no OTG cable to get the CF card reader seen by the tablet. Because I have a GNex, I already have a data/sync switch on my usb cable.
The cameras are the hardest and heaviest to carry.
So far, I've had to add another amenity kit to add the adapters for the Note. And I still don't have a way of using it to run a projector or tv. My phone ends up doing that.

Exactly. What if we got a car but instead of a windshield it came with a compass? BT headsets are cheap and universal. How many Android phones come with a Wacom inductive display with 1024 stages of pressure sensitivity and palm rejection? If people don’t use S Pen that’s cool but they have and will have tons of choices for giant phones. For those of us that actually do use S Pen the Note’s still the only game in town. Samsung has and will continue to position the Note(s) as a “creation” device. For people that don’t care about creation buy a Mega. And a BT headset if you want.
No no no.
We need a headset with a built in stylus!
Tough crowd.
Why don't you get the HM5100 Bluetooth S-Pen and then you'll have both
or could have a stylus attached on one side of the phone and the Bluetooth headset on the other ?!!!

No, just a really stupid suggestion.
No need. Just get an S4 with a bluetooth headset, without the spen its no longer the Note series. But lets be practical, in order to fit those bluetooth headset into the phone and let the phone charge it would be a hassle all together. Plus that might require the phone to be a bit on the bulky and flimsy side.

I don't think it works with the 10.1-14. Someone reported it earlier. Something about the tablet not recognizing it as a power source.
