Just pre-ordered mine $199 + $50 google wallet credit so $150 total not bad. The EVO has a bigger screen but the sealed battery is a deal breaker. I hate the TWiz stuff so I don't think the SGS3 will be too much better, if at all. It will have a better Camera I'm sure.

Nah... I'll have to pass. I always wanted a Nexus device, but this one is just way too inferior for me to invest in. I'll definitely wait for the SG3 when that comes out.

I was just about the post the $50 credit for Google Wallet. I wonder if Sprint will allow me to push an early upgrade out of it? I may just have to buy it from someone else with my E4GT and some cash, but overall, I really want it. lol

So my line with the e4gt is ready for a upgrade and my wife line that she said I can have her upgrade will be ready in august. So I'm thinking about trading my e4gt for the nexus due to more rom support, then use my wife upgrade for the sg3.
Don't know what to do!

The good ol' hand me downs. If you're really that adamant on getting the SGS3, you may aswel hold out for it, so you're not stuck with a phone for 2 years. There will be another phone in the next year you'll want, and you'll be out of upgrades if you use them both this year.

i dont know if you're joking, trolling, or stupid. sgs3 will be better than the nexus in every aspect. seriously, touchwiz means nothing because it can be removed anyways, and the stock rom can be replaced with AOSP too.

You just can't remove touchwiz and have aosp. Touchwiz is FAR from aosp. It's as deeply integrated as Sense!

Switching to new phone.

Holiday season is coming up and a lot of people are getting a new phone. Personally, there are two contenders that I'm still trying to decide on which to get. The nexus 4 and the lg Optimus g on sprint. Both awesome phones but which one do you guys recommend?

See reviews and go to the store to play with both of them get a feel on them and also see what it is you want in a phone. Thats what I did and got the best beast that is out right now for me that is :thumbup:

Galaxy note 2 came from the e4gt and dont regret it best phone in the market right now Imo and touchwiz stock is just pure goodness im still on stock unrooted. I saw one person who is rooted and bare had got 11hrs screen on lol phone is just amazing.

really? it gets that good of battery life completely stock?dang but yea definitely look at reviews and specs and you should be able to figure out which one you want. Also the Nexus 4 is built by lg.

Yeah I know.... But the lg Optimus g has some killer specs. And on the other side, the nexus 4 is pure 4.2 android and also has some great specs.

Yup its this great on stock unrooted. I really havent had a reason to root yet and Samsung actually nailed it with the stock touchwiz launcher and the features and s-pen is really great but battery was the big thing that made me jump on to this phone I really got tired of carrying my charger or extra batteries around to me its just stupid and if your going on a trip there's a 8500mah battery witg a nice looking door that doesn't make the phone look to bulky lol one person showed a pic there in the forums getting like 3 to almost 4 days without charging.

Another vote for the GNII from a previous E4GT owner, even though it's not being considered by OP. Have fun getting updates from LG if you decide to go with the Optimus G.

yea I thought about getting the note 2 but its a little to big. that's why I want the GS3. but between the nexus and optimus I would go with nexus for pure 4.2 and I assume it has a big support community.

Thought the bootloader on the Opt G is locked...?
Anyhow, whichever you decide - can I make a suggestion?
I'm in support of the idea of getting Agat another E4GT for kernel work.
If you're willing to that would be IMHO a great use for the phone.
(Assuming you're not handing it down to someone else, of course...)

I would go for the nexus 4 just for stock android. And lte doesn't matter for me because I get around 13mbps down here

My best guess is that the Nexus 5 will probably have some version of key lime, but you'll have to wait toward year end to get it. I don't see the S4 having it given its anticipated spring arrival. Spec wise - I think toss up, unless the S4 truly does rock the Exynos 5 Octa CPU with Mali-T658 (8-Core) GPU. That's a combo very hard to beat! Hang on to your hat.......and your wallet!

The best Phone out right now is the GS3 for Sprint. My contract is over around June so I will be grabbing either the Galaxy S IV or Sprint's Variant of the HTC M7. Im not a fan of stock android phones, (If i wanted stock I would flash any AOSP Rom) so the Nexus 5 or Motorola X aren't in my list .

Its not. Real world performance they are similar benchmarks the note 2 kills the s3. The note 2 has alot more features than the s3 though

My up[date has been here since November, I still want the Note 2, but I'm not paying what they want for it. Even online, like Wirefly, it's still more than I want to pay

I was reading that the screen is going to be 5.99 inches thats still a good size if they go any bigger it would be consider a tablet so they wanna stay under 6 inches then it would still be in the category as a phablet.

5.5 inches is just about right. If they go any bigger, then i'm throwing some moolah LG G2's way just to see what that's about. Heard rumors of 5.7 inches and 5.99 inches which is just pushing it for me. A friend of mine in the U.K got the Galaxy Mega 6.3 inch and jeebus, that thing is huge and just weird. Also saw a video comparison of the Sony Xperia ZL 6.4 inches vs the Note 2 and lawd, that thing was massive.
No, 5.5 inches is enough for me.

I also am planning on getting myself a SGN3!! I really hope we get the octo core version

Im not saying it can't, I actually want the mega, I was in agreeance with what you said, probably came out the wrong way, but I'm sure there's a select few that have it here, I mean, you can order one pretty easily, I was tempted to order one, but a last, not compatible with sprint

Then you're going to be disappointed. Latest rumor is that the octa Exynos is for non-LTE handsets.
I'm not tempted at all. Love my N2 with AOSP on it.

Yeah, I watched the live stream on Android Central. I didn't think I'd want it, and I'd wait until my upgrade in may but hell I want it! So I'm getting it off contract that way when my upgrade does come if anything I can't wait until the next one!

Does the Note 3 have a RGB display like the Note 2 or does it have the Pentile display like the S3 and S4?
If it has a RGB Display it will be hard to not get. I sadly can't get it because I'm putting all my extra money into helping my parents get by right now.
It's going to suck that I won't be able to get it. I'm already depressed and once it's released on T-Mobile I'll be even more sad. It's such tough times right now and I love phone. Having the Note 2 was great but after seeing what the Note 3 can do and all of its features, I'm just so sad. I know it sounds weird but having a good phone really.. Nvm.. Gratz for everyone that can get the Note 3.

Yeah they're just toys pretty much. Not much of a necessity since the D710 kicks some serious booty still. I'm probably not even getting the note 3 on release date since I can hold out for a while with my D710. I love this phone so I can only imagine the power of the note 3. That faux leather battery cover is hideous though. I'm gong to replace that asap and stick in an extended battery lol.

Amazon is a big one. But that is usually around the time all the carriers come or with a buy one get one... I an thinking family plan style, since i have two phones that expire same time. But Amazon is notorious for the $0.01 sales from end November-x mas.

The funny thing is I just insurance claimed for a new S2 (well refurbd), It does everything I need it too....except LTE. The saving grace is that my area never received wimax, nor does the city I'm moving too. So I don't "need" a new phone, until the city I move to gets it.
I really wanted the S4 active, but I just don't see moving to at&t just to get it. Now, there is a company that will "waterproof" your phone. I may use the spray on water repellent (rustoleum maybe?) on my spare S2 parts phone to see how well it works and then do my new s2. Theres a video on youtube of someone doing an EVO, but not doing a professional job and it was effectively waterproof.
I miss having a stylus based phone (coming from the Touch Pro 2 and ppc6800), but the note 3 is large, maybe too large for me, but man would it be nice to have such a large screen for games and media. Plus the true multitasking and windowed programs looks badass, that is the next step, specially someone liek me that used to carry a small laptop around.
My concern is having the thing in my pocket, in jeans when I sit down it would probably snap the thing in half. Also using it one handed while driving, maybe a smaller dialer and localized controls for google maps and such. When gmaps released the new update without zoom buttons...what a terrible experience.
I also don't want to waste an upgrade waiting 2 years for a good phone to come out. Now that phones are getting really expensive, you kinda have to time it better. I'd love to have as S4, but I'm glad I still have my upgrade right now, on the other hand a used S4 is still $450 on craigslist, so you can get your money out of it still. But a non-contract note 3 is probably like $800, and $300 for contract, I may just get one based on the savings.

Is there any sales that don't require a contract? I just got out of a sprint contract and I'm not about to go back into another.

You will probably be able to pick it up under one of the prepaid programs out there once the hype settles down.

Yeah I rather wait after release since release models always have some bugs.
