[Q] Removing the Emots from sms? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I was just wondering if there was a way to remove silly android emoticons from SMS, I really don't like seeing that face with 2 hearts as its eyes, instead of just <3, and even happy face, I would rather see the actual characters I'm using rom ([ROM] AOKP(Jellybean 4.1.2)Task & Ktoonsez (12/2) (AT&T/Rogers)) if anyone knows how to remove them please tell me, I would like to use the SMS app that comes with this rom I just really hate those android faces....please and thanks!

Hmm I don't think so, not that I know of! But if anyone knows... I'd like to remove them as well!

On Cm10 they show up as normal emojis.

Messaging themes

I know within the stock Samsung messaging app you can change the text bubbles and the background. My question today is...it's it possible to use custom message bubbles and background?
If so where's would I have to place those files for them to be usable within the app?
Thanks

I do not believe this is possible as of right now. I have not seen any other threads indicating it's possible. I too would like to see this happen though.

Wow do I actually get to contribute something for once?? LoL I'm so used to absorbing all the knowledge here being the noob I am.
Aside from what the others recommended, I haven't seen any easy ways to add custom bubbles but I did recently notice that you can easily change the background to a custom picture.
If you go into your messaging settings and choose to change the background, there's an option to add your own picture whether it be from your gallery or directly from your camera. The one and only downside is that you're limited to one custom background at a time... if you change it, your new choice will overwrite the old. No big, tho.
I remember looking for this option back on ICS but never found it so I'm assuming it was added with the JB update.
(I'm running on rooted stock ROM, btw.)

I did this for my GS2 because I love blue and gray together. I am using an mms.apk from a rom in the dev section right now, but this weekend I'll try to work on theming the stock mms.apk with different colors. I'll upload when/if I get time this weekend.

No you have to be on touchwiz as far as I know. You could download the cm10 touchwiz theme and I think it themes the MMS to look like touchwiz a bit.

Oops...My finger slipped, You got a free thanks from me
Anyways, the TW messaging app relies on the TW framework, so someone would have to modify and and remove the TW framework dependencies for it to work on an AOSP ROM.

My widgets are lower than my apps

Ok this one sounds silly, but on my screens of icons the widgets are not in a straight line with the app I cons but a bit below.
Anyone else seeing this?

maybe take a screenshot to show what you are trying to say...
I have the same problem. But it's also the on my old RAZR so I guess it's an android problem.
Please refer to my screen shot.

I assume this is because your widgets have no title, while the icons do.
Disable viewing the names of the applications and see if that helps.
duh!!!!
Such an idiot I am.
BTW - I am on Stock 4.1.2 (and had 4.1.1 same issue) -
BTW where do I set that I do NOT want labels written under the icons ...
Ahahahhah

Simple SMS APP that looks like Facebook or talk.to messenger??

Anybody know of a simple, perhaps holo themed SMS client like those? I've tried go SMS and chomp, they are full of crap, especially go sms.

Inverted Apps... Email, Keyboard, Play Store, Etc.

Hey all, im dying over here not having an inverted or black background on all of my apps. I flashed the Smoothest Note 2/3 and im loving it except that issue. I dont know why im obsessed. Cant find anything that will work.
Does anyone have an idea where I can download a black email app and a black Samung Keyboard (I know I can go on the market but I want a flashable solid version)? Play Store would be nice too.
I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks!
