I have had a bit of a hard time finding much about changing that annoying whit HTC splash screen.here is what I have figured out ,might be helpfull for any of my fellow noobs ..ok,this is simple, there are many really cool custom screens you can find on here, pick the one you like, download it to your sd card.make sure it is named PG32IMG.zip ..power off your phone.holding volume down, power on your phone, this should take you to your h boot.once there give it a second,it will ask you if you want to update, press volume up,reboot your phone by pressing power, done!Hope you find this helpfull!p.s.there is also a good app for making your own screens on here somewhere .think its called splash flasher or something like that, look for it..
Understanding that you cannot post in the dev sections as of yet, I can see why you would post here. I'm in the same spot given I have utilized the forum for a long time but have not been active in the community. I noticed that your link did not come through properly. Here is a link to a splash screen modification that I use with success here. In conjunction with this I also modified my boot up and boot down animations although there are not a ton to chose from, I'm sure there are other threads out there. I just don't have the links. I used these boot up animations (w/ audio mod if you like) with success here. Love that gdi2290 Anyways, I did do some searching to find and ultimately found it through the all things root post found here which has a ton of information for Dinc2 users trying to get their root/modification legs. If anyone else has some decent links for splash screen, boot up, boot down, or other useful links. Add them to the pile.

Strassern

Check out rom toolbox on the market. You can change boot animations with it. You used to be able to change boot screen also, but unless I'm overlooking it, that has been taken out.

No doubt, keep forgetting the features that app has because I have always used cwm manually (and have since moved on 4ext touch). Nice work!

There is a thread on here somewhere with a bunch of boot logos that you can download. It's pretty easy to change. Just rename the file and flash in bootloader. You have to make sure it's on the root of sd card. I don't think it works if it's in a folder.

Hey everyone,
I've taken away a lot from this site in regards to ROMs, Radios, knowledge, freindly banter, etc. etc. so I figured I'd contribute something small back. Recently a lot of people have been making splash screens with some crazy pics, there are a lot of talented people on here I must say. However, I was looking for something more like a computer since this device really is like one. So I came up with a POST screen and then into the Windows boot screen. I attached the screen shots below and a zip that contains the updater and welcome.png file. I hope at least some of you enjoy it, but if you don't thats cool too.
Here are the screenshots, I forgot to upload that file.
Looks very cool!
like it a lot, TNX.
is it animated??
It's not animated only because of the sound issues the AT&T one caused a while back. If I find out it doesn't cause sound issues and people are interested I'd animate it.
uber newb question, how do I apply this splash screen when I open RUUWrapper I get what looks like something I used to upload my ROM fille
any hints on how to run this safely?

Just run the RUU exe and select Force SPL if you are not HARD SPL. It will flash the new splash screen and reboot. Next copy over the welcomehead JPG file into the Windows directory on your device. Reset to see the new setup.
Hi all,
in this thread i will continue the work from zenity (which inspired me to start with custom splashes and boot animations)
The main purpose of this thread is mainly for splash screens and boot animation requests for Kaiser.
I will start the thread with 1 custom splash and 1 custom boot animation,
so you can all see what the possibility's are.
When you request a splash screen ----> please attach the picture you want as splash screen.
For boot animations ---> a video or other file might be helpful, as im not going to make 200+ png art files for you by hand
And of course credits for zenity!
I will try to handle the requests as soon as possible, and if there are people willing to help that's perfectly fine
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage you cause to your phone by flashing custom splash screens or using any boot animations.

this does not work for me it does seem to boot faster without a boot animation though
Boot animation working
It works for me, but only if i integrate it in the installer (but thats with all bootanimations for me). Though, i guess i had a bit too much enthusiasm putting 1,5 minute of movie in this bootanimation.
But still, this is just an example of whats possible. I can make simple bootanimations as well on request. So if you have an idea, just post it here and your request will be made
updateandroid.tar method wont work?
how about a basic few frame boot ani, it possible that the boot process has gotten faster than the animations take.
?
how you mean that exactly? i dont really understand what you mean with it.
to change the bootanimation.zip file an updateadroid.tar file must be use because of the file permissions.
this method produces the error i fore mentioned.
you are saying i must put the file in the androidinstall.tar next time i update?
i wonder if fix permission in boot does not fix permissions for bootanimation.zip and that is why it does not work
how about something like these....
click on the skeleton guy ....not sure why he isn't animating on here?
Procedure
You could use androidupdate.tar method,
or use adb push method and push bootanimation.zip to /data/local (did not check, but thought this was the right path)
though i always experienced problems with changing the bootanimation
ok, im very busy with school right now. I will be looking at them next week.
Ill post the bootanimations in this thread

Is it at all possible to install custom boot animations without having them already packaged in a ROM? I am tired of the blue flashing galaxy logo!
anybody???
I think there's a dev here that released a rom where he changed the boot, sound and ending splash animation with the one from i9000 galaxy s. You might want to check the thread and ask him how to make changes. Maybe once this info is out maybe it will get ball rolling to get custom boot and ending animations.
I saw an app on the market called boot animation changer or something to thateffect but I've never used it or know how for that matter

Until we get a new rom/kernel that supports other, or standard, boot ani's we're stuck with boot animations that are in the Samsung proprietary format. If/when cm6 gets ported to the galaxy it'll be as easy as uploading any bootanimation.zip to the right place.
Heroic epic rom has custom boot animation support!
Sent from my Epic 4G
Heroic Epic is the best. Thank you for supporting custom boot animations Mammon88!!
yeah the kernel just needs to support looking for "bootanimation.zip" instead of sammys crap. once mammon throws down with his magic, everyone will get some love!
Yeah heroic epic rom works great and with root explorer all you have to do is get any bootanimation.zip that 800x480 on your sd card and then copy with root explorer to your /data/local folder and next time you boot you'll see your boot animation. You can get some boot animations from the evo thread!
ok so i just figured out how to root my epic POS last night and OBVIOUSLY lack the exp you guys have...i have cwm5.? and a one click root now...but i read somewhere that cwm makes you recovery screen green, but mine is still blue. i desperately want to switch around the theme and **** but need instruction...PLZ HELP! LOL if you guys could gtalk me thru it id appreciate [email protected]
If you have clockworkmod then, turn the phone off. When the phone is off, reboot holding down camera +vol down + power all at the same time. That will take you into the clockworkmod recovery.

Excellent, thanks for sharing it, works perfect, but why does it have to be so ugly??
No more touch to physical buttons, we have to press them to much to do some things, some times I thougt they were going to break using them all the time.
I hope for next release to see a better UI at least!!
It works great. Nandroids with this are in new location and format. Use custom recovery to use old Nandroids. The major problem is Wipe Data/Factory Reset is it also formats sd-ext partition. I wiped 10 gigs of music last night....dammit. Just a warning if you prefer data on sd-ext for safety.
I don't like to use fat filesystems if I don't have to. Win 7 has corrupted my sdcard a few times now.
I really like the multi zip flashing. If you flash 2-4 zips an install, you'll love it too.
This was the only recovery option for the kindle fire for a long time, so I can also share that there are theme options to help a little with the "ugliness", just check the link below.

Thanks God there are themes, I saw that option in the recovery but I didnt know what to do, this is the most ugliest application ever seen made !!
At least is something we need!
Heads up....The Kindle Fire themes aren't designed and formatted properly for our screen size, you'll be missing important selections if you install one. It sucks cause that ICS Blue one looks awesome.
It shouldn't be too hard to merge into the default theme if anyone wants too. Mainly just replacing the stock images with the theme's images and editing the ui.xml for proper font color. Maybe more, but I haven't looked too deep at Touch Recovery Themeing yet. Now that we have Bravo ICS, I have other projects I'd rather do...like start MIUI V4 from scratch....its gonna be a pain in the ass since I can only reference from other devices.
Has anybody tried Touch Recovery with Multiboot yet? Honestly, I'm a bit nervous to try since I'm not sure if the two are compatible.

I can't seem to get this installed on my Bravo. I'm kind of confused of what steps I need to take. I had cwm recovery on there from when Bandroidx was around. I understand now, that his is efforts can't help me here. I tried to use cwm to install twrp but now it seems as though I've lost any custom recovery. Any suggestions or a direction to head?
Thanks guys.

download the flashable .zip file from this site: http://www.teamw.in/project/twrp2/91
put it on your sd card.
hopefully you're actually using Clockwork Mod recovery and not bandroidx's Bootstrap recovery method - that's obsolete. When you get to CWM (reboot phone, when LED turns blue press the volume down button), go down to install zip from sd card, choose zip from sd card, find the TWRP file, and select yes to flash. no need to wipe afterwards, just reboot your phone. When LED turns blue again, and you press volume down button, you should enter TWRP recovery.
I don't know if it's still the case, but the last time I checked (first release) it was pretty buggy. I just stick with the tried and true CWM.

Thanks for your response. Well, I thought I was using cwm but now im doubting it because I followed bandroidx's thread so I must've used his method because there wasn't any other choice at the time.
So, if that is the case... then I need to flash a true cwmr? If so, where can I find instructions to that process? I've been trying to find it but everything says to flash through recovery but how if what I have is incorrect?
Thanks, major props to all of you.

I also tried out JetAudio (saw your post in Defy last night) and thought it was GREAT. Many audio options, FOLDER VIEW, clean layout. True that. Currently trying out PowerAmp for the first time, clean interface and a decent trial period..... Probably gonna try PlayerPro as well for its DSP pack and video support.
My only real gripe with Jet is the 20 second limit on some of the features\effects. Should at least be a minute or two so you know if they're worth buying the full version for.
Mort's great if you have a ton of music already sorted in folders by Main Folder>Artist>Album>Track like all mine are (and you're too lazy to fix id3 tags). Especially handy if you download by the discography.... My only complaint with it is that the reverb effects don't work with the Bravo, but I don't use them (pc or phone or any music app ever). I'd like an ICS dark styled holo theme for it, but the ones it comes with are good enough and somewhat customizable.
Mort also has a PC\Mac version available, but I've never used it since I use Linux.
Mort Player Official Site if you're interested.
Hopefully Touch Recovery gets better with time. I'd use it full time, but the Wipe Data\Cache wipes sdext as well; and I use sdext for my music and files I don't want getting corrupted on fat32 -- worst choice of filesystem for sdcards imho -- we should at least be able to use the sdcard as ext2\3.... (At least some part of all this was about Touch Recovery)

I will try and download soon as I just got back around to this phone again and give it a try and let you know what I think. Right now I have TWRP ver 2.7.1.0 for Galaxy Light T399 ? which appears to be custom and themed? I just now noticed it when rebooting into Recovery from ROMs restart options. It is white, brown and orange with a list menu. I haven't seen this before though again I haven't flashed any other versions of TWRP besides the touch so maybe it's the standard? I did have TWRP ver 2.8.4.0 for this phone which was the grey, black and blue big button themed touch interface I loved so much.
Aside TWRP matters im also toying around with Lightwave-V3 Rom by user @root@ which I switched to from TigerLillly by user DJBoxer. Both seem to be pretty good although Lightwave was suppose to have came preconfigured with a bunch of useful utilities / mods and it appears they weren't configured in the Rom's configuration. I'll have to take a look and see what needs to be modified if they exist within the build seems same with TigerLilly also. I'd suggest these 2 ROMs to anyone with this phone. Smooth, no bloat and no problems so far. However I am always up for trying any others if anyone has some to suggest. Post and let me know.
First post back here in some months. Now back into androids more and attempting root on a few unknowns so hopefully I will have some good material to contribute in the near future. Still hitting that learning curve hard trying to get with the future. I'm still oldschool @ heart stuck with knowledge of the past flip / feature phones, java, crackberries, outdated unlocking boxes and about 100 pre android phones lol. Have the parts to the first android still but unfortunately incomplete. Some interesting times I tell ya. Thanks to XDA and HOFO I'm picking up where I left off quite quickly.

Have done a lot of researching since this post. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-light - seems to have most of my work done lol.

I will post a TON of information on this phone, recovery, rooting, stock/custom rom links and much more in the appropriate thread when I get time free from work. Have done a lot of researching since this post. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-light - seems to have most of my work done lol. I keep forgetting how old this phone is and that it's been ran through by quite a few dev's already.

Thanks again! For conversions and archiving I have been using 7zip and a few simple batch files to convert .tar + calculate sum to .tar.md5 and and .img to .tar then .tar to .tar.md5 calculating sum.
