Is there any easy way to turn it off? Or more importantly can I switch the long hold and double tap function of the home key?
I think the only thing you can do is make svoice not launch with the double tap. But I don't think you can assign anything to it.

I use home 2 shortcut and my double tap Home takes me to Google Now Voice Search. Also If you are rooted you should be able to disable S-Voice.

I just upgraded to Jellybean. When trying to swipe up to use Google Now, absolutely nothing happens, no matter which screen I've tried it from. Is there a trick to getting the app to come up by swiping? I can tap on the Google icon on the home screen of course, but I'd like to use the swiping feature if possible...

You don't swipe uo to get Google Now to come up. You press and hold the Menu button while on the home screen. That should do the trick.

If I get what you trying to say here, you can try button saviour(root), there is a screen off and other onscreen buttons features(back/home/menu/vol etc) that's quite handy too.
If thats an app bro sorry not the one im looking for..
Im looking for something to edit in the phone to make the screen off by pressing a custom button, e.i pressing the home twice and the screen is off. Press once and the screen is on.
The power button is too far, i mean my finger needs to jump there just to turn off the screen. If u get me bro..

umm i don't think there is a mod for such a particular and specific personal perference
There are tap to execute and similar app that make use of the Proximity sensor of the phone to wake up phone without having to press the power button.
Personally I only tried softpower.
Description
Turn screen OFF and turn screen ON without touch power button.
SoftPower will safe your physical power button by use Search button or notification to turn screen OFF(and lock) and use proximity sensor changing to turn screen ON.
Note:
-Proximity sensor on device is required for Turn ON function to work.
-To uninstall, do this first. Settings-> Locations & Security(or Security in ICS)-> Device Administrators then uncheck SoftPower.

ive been looking for this too, since ALL SCREEN OFF APPS dont make your phone go into deep sleep resulting into battery drain, only the physical power button can make you phone into deep sleep and auto idle i think, im looking for a shorcut not widget or app to mimic the physical power button so i can set it into gesture and alike to make my phone go into deep sleep
try cm10 fxp150, u can easily lock your screen from notification bar
If you install cm10 I'd recommend enabling the navigation bar and setting the back button long press to make your phone sleep. It's wonderful to use!

how you did that can you teach step by step?
When my screen turns off and I press the home button to wake the screen, any applications or notification popups I had disappears as the home button is being too "aggressive" and immediately takes me to the home screen.
Did I miss a setting somewhere to prevent this?
Thanks.
It seems the only way to prevent this is by enabling Swipe Lock. I guess this is why it's enabled by default?
I'm having the same problem no matter what I do when the screen times out and I press home it takeme back to my home screen. ..Have you found a solution yet?

In S-Voice app, bring up settings, make sure option to "Open via the home key" is checked. This will allow the home button to only wake the device when the screen is off. Unfortunately, this also introduces some lag when pressing the home button, as the software is waiting to see if you register a double click.

I hate that lag, that's why I unchecked it and ran into this Home Button problem.
The lag is pretty bad, like 2-3 seconds. Not practical.
Are there any apps that can control the buttons to launch the camera? Double press power button or something like that?
you can jus swipe down twice when the screen is off/locked

Yea but that is far slower than double clicking the power button as pulling it out of pocket

Double power-button press is definitely easier and faster. You can press them right in your pocket and whip it out and take a photo. I hope HTC adds that in as a gesture.
With Nova launcher I set up the camera to launch when I double tap the screen. Very convenient.

That's not what OP asked for though. You can already swipe down twice to launch it, but having it operated by a double button press would be nicer.
I seem to remember you were able to wake to camera on M9 by holding it landscape and hitting volume up or dn. Doesn't work here, I kinda liked that feature.
just pick the phone up in landscape mode and hit the volume down button.
edit: wait a minute, i just re-tried this and it doesn't seem to be working. i could swear it was working a couple days ago
Did google mention if there is a quick way to activate the camera from the lock screen? Maybe double tap power button?

It's the same as on your Nexus 6P. The camera can be activated by pressing the power button twice. This works when the screen is off, on the lockscreen or in any app that you might be in. The volume rockers will act as a shutter button if you've set them up like that in the settings. If your screen is on and you're on the lockscreen, you can also swipe up from the bottom right to activate the camera.
