Restoring a "Backup & Restore" backup not working - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hi,
I backed up everything in my phone using Xperia's (ICS only) "Backup & Restore" app. I zipped the backup files and uploaded them to dropbox. I then did a factory reset, and redownloaded the uploaded file, unzipped it, and placed it in the .semc-fullbackup directory, but the app cannot find it, instead deleting the directory with my backup.
How can I restore this backup? It seems like a pointless backup app if it can't take a backup from somewhere else. Is there some way to fool the app into taking my backup?
Thanks!

Wish if I could help
But I use titanium back up

Nandroid backup path?

Where are the Nandroid backup files stored?
Is there a way to delete some of the older backups? I thought maybe it automatically kept X number of backups, but I'm up to 11 now.
I'm running ClockWorkMod 2.5.0.1.
sdcard/clockworkmod/backup. They are all located in the backup folder. I wouldn't delete them if I were u, just back them up on it computer...just in case.

Titanium Backup and Rom Manager backup to computer

I just rooted my Galaxy Nexus and installed Rom manager and Titanium Backup. This isn't my first time rooting and i think i some what of a grip on the process.
I did a full backup in Rom manager and set up a system data backup on certain apps on a schedule through Titanium. I synced Titanium to Drop box and every time a backup is made, it is automatically sent to my Drop box account. This is how i back up my phone because of the lack of a SD card on the GN. The files do show up in my drop box account and I attempted to drag and drop the files back onto my phone, simulating a new phone and attempting to recover my important data, but Titanium does not recognize these files.
How do I take the back ups from my computer, through drop box, and put the files back on my phone so i can restore my data through Titanium?
Also, when i did a full backup through Rom manager, Im not sure of how i get that file onto my computer. It doesn't show up on my phone when i connect my phone to the computer.
I hope I'm making myself clear and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Titanium backup is not directly compatible with Nandroid backups (rom manager style).
Titanium backup has an alternate feature of being able to extract backup info from nandroids though.
open titanium backup > Menu button > Extract from nandroid backup > select backup > scan... > select apps/data ...
done.

Thanks for the reply... everyone else would rather scold me for posting this in the wrong spot than help a dude out...
I did notice that feature in ROM manager, but I'm still not sure how to put that backup onto my computer. If there was a way to save my nandroid backup to my computer via Drop box or just dragging and dropping while connected through USB, I wouldn't have to use Titanium, which would be great.

Rom manager saves all backups to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backups

Titanium backup pro HOW TO BACKUP WTF??!!?!

So all the tutorials I see say to use "menu>batch" to backup user apps/data, but there is NO BATCH!! I ran backup and it just put a bunch of gz/tar files in a directory!!! So now after I've already updated ROM to JB, TB is not allowing me to restore these files.....or am I missing how to do this?? Why is this app so damn hard to find stuff? Is there any way to restore my stuff or I will have to revert to nandroid backup and use TB again??
BTW, i'm on version 5.4.2.2 pro version
Thanks,
Click the icon in the upper-right with the check mark to get to batch operations.
And those tar.gz files are your backups.
The batch button is on the upper right corner.
And yes TB does compress the back ups.

Your question is a mess. Your thread title is "how to backup" and your jumbled post is about "how to restore".
In any case, whatever tutorials you're reading are outdated, as TiBu hasn't used a "batch" ever since the ICS version switched to using the Action Bar.
So, to simplify TiBu for you:
1) touch the the little checkmark icon the upperright corner of TiBu
2) Backup your apps and data; not system data
3) Restore later
Easy.
All the rest of the TiBu stuff is for people who aren't afraid to figure it out and/or read their FAQ (no offense)
So I've checked everything in the app.... including the mentioned "check mark" button before posting here. It is not showing any of my backup apps. I've gone into prefs and verified the backup/restore directory. When I go to that directory i see everything but when I go to batch upper right button none of the options show my apps. It only shows the NEW apps on the NEW rom and no options to restore my previous 33 user apps.
Am I missing something here or is it just not working
Sorry about the hasty confusing post...
Open TiBu
Menu/preferences/back up folder location> whole device
it will search your entire phone fit a back up folder

I did that and I already had the location correct /storage/sdcard0/TitaniumBackup ...... 48 backups.
When I do what you say and do "whole device" it reloads the TB app data. Then I go into batch options and it still doesn't show my backups...
Any ideas? I will try to get screenshots, i'm not sure how on JB yet
Clear data to set everything to default then set the backup directory again and restart the app (or the phone) This fixed it for me.

Question, after running TiBu, and if I need to restore my phone to factory (w/ root). To restore my apps etc, I need to reinstall TiBu and run the restore?

Yes.
If you bought Pro, install free version first, then pro.

How to extract app data with Titanium backup and TWRP backups

Apparently TWRP saves its backups in a different format. it's a collection of files instead of one. I don't know how to extract data from these backups using TBP. Can someone link me to a guide or give advice? Thanks friends.
Go into the menu with titanium backup and will be able to extract app data (special backup / restore). Don't think you have an option for any files but it's easier then restoring a nandroid.

Nandroid restore .dup

I've looked around for at least 3hrs for that without getting answers so please if this has been discussed thoroughly in another thread point me to it.
I have made several nandroid backups using cwm and so far I had no problems backing up and restoring. Now I need a specific file from a backup I have on my pc. I have the complete sdcard on the pc with the /clockworkmod/backup and /blobs folders and the other files. On the new version of my phone the backups are on /mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backup/
I tried to to copy the backup folder (2013-01-...) From my pc to the new back up location and restoring. Obviously that didnt work that's when I realized they were .dup files. So I tried to paste the blobs folder as well and restore but same thing ... Error while restoring.
Now since the backup was done using a different path than this one would that cause the problem? Is there a specific procedure to accomplish what I'm trying to do? Are there other files other than the backup and blobs folders implicated in this type of backup?
Any help is appreciated
Thanks
