PLEASE HELP
Thanks, in advance.

Flash cwm recovery 5.8.4.0 (if you don't have it already installed)
Download a ICS rom and copy the boot.img from the rom.zip to the fastboot folder.
Put the phone in fastboot USB mode and flash the boot.img
Go into recovery and do full wipe EXCEPT Sd card ! Then mount sdcard as USB drive and Copy the rom.zip over to it
Flash the rom.zip from recovery and reboot
And stay away from the AT&T ROGERS FORUM that's for a different one x !
We have the ENDEAVORU type phone.....stay in this forum and don't flash anything from the other forum, you might brick the phone !

Thanks for the help

i found custom rom zip file. used this zip to flash the system and boot. camera and beats audio is not working with this rom.
can you provide the link for RRU 2.17.720.2 asia. so that i can update my mobile to official jelly bean released by HTC.
or provide me work around to update my phone to official jelly bean
Thanks.

You can check here, but i don't see it
http://www.htcruu.com/?dir=Endeavor
But if you have the nandroid backup.....it's the same as a ruu !
You have to restore the whole nandroid and not just the system and boot.
You have to do a full wipe from recovery and flash the boot.img from the nandroid and then restore the complete nandroid in recovery ! It's exactly the same as a ruu except the stock recovery is not included so you have to flash that after you restored the nandroid !

These are steps followed to recovery my whole HTC one x normal state.
1. Flashed the boot and recovery images form 2.17.720.2 OTA.
2. oem lock
3. Downloaded the RUU 2.17.720.2 from file factory (for this u need primer account. just googled it). As my device main version is 2.17 for ur download the respective ones.
4. Ran the RUU when the mobile is in fastboot mode.
5. That's it my devices is recovered back to 2.17.720.2
6. Software update is done form about section. (with out any issue.)
these steps are simple but, to identify these i have done lot of searching and background work.
at last I did it.
thanks for members helped me and thanks for XDA.
Now i got some idea about the process involved in the booting up of device and upgrade process. if you stuck any of the issue mentioned in the previous post of this thread. reply back with the issue.

[Q] Looking for Endeavour 1.29.206.11 please

I hope that this post is in the correct forum section - apologies if not and apologies if there is already a thread on this subject (I did try searching but nothing that provided a link to a RUU).
Here's what I've done:
Flashed a custom ROM to my UK O2 HTC One X
Then tried to restore it to stock without taking a Clockwork recovery backup (deleted all caches and storage in the process)
Tried to flash with stock RUU found online (1.26.206.2) but RUU software throws an error as the exisiting f/w is 1.29.206.11 and this is what it is expecting
I can access the HOX through fastboot to lock and unlock the device but I cannot see the "SD card" to copy over a custom ROM to at least get some life into the thing (it just sits at the white HTC loading screen until the battery dies).
Ideally I want to return the thing to stock (if anyone has a O2 UK 1.29.206.11 RUU) but failing that is there anyway to get a custom ROM on there (for installation with CWM) without my PC (Windows 7 or Mac available) seeing the HOX storage?
Thanks for reading and any help you can pass on.

if you can get into to CWM there is an option to mount sd in there somewhere, if you can't get into it maybe try re-flashing it

DO you mean extracting the 2 img files from the RUU zip and running from fastboot command prompt? If so, the second img file returns a [0000006] error.

I've got the RUU you suggested from HERE
Now to apply this RUU all I need to do is run the file (exe) and follow the bouncing ball?
Then once flashed (back to stock), to install a custom recovery (so I can do a nandroid) is unlock the bootloader, install the recovery, and take the nandroid backup. To get the OTA Update(s), I'll need to relock the bootloader, do the automated system updater, redo nandroid, then onto a custom recovery once HBOOT has been updated via the OTA process?
EDIT: Take a nandroid backup first of course

NO You can't receive the OTA via custom recovery you need ctock recovery and stock rom unrooted
1) Lock your bootloader
2) Run the RUU
3) Apllay all update to 4.x.206.x 4.2.2 JB
4) Unlock your Bootloader
5) Install Philz custom recovery
6) Do a Nandroid Backup on 4.2.2.JB . Save on secure plase it is better to have 2 copies on nandroid on different place
7) If you wont Install custom rom or root the stock it is your decision and don't forget to flash the boot.img if you install custom rom

[Q] Please help ! bootloop after OTA of rooted phone

Hi guys,
Please help !
I've bought a new phone, htc one x, from someone. barely had time to install few apps, and got this OTA update message.
Without thinking twice - i did it. But it seems that the phone was rooted ! and as I understand now - it's a big no-no .
I've tried to figure out from the forum what to do , but - all the answers seems to include fastboot and ADB, which in turn require
the drivers of the phone to be installed. But my phone is dead ! so I can' t do it.
I'm new to roms and all, and I really need your help .
How can I make my phone work again ? I don't care which ROM , custom or stock , just to make it work .
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi , yes, I can access the fast boot, but even trying to restore to factory defaults didn't help.
And I can't istall the fastboot on my pc since it needs to connect to a working phone in debug mode (if I understand correctly)
Google Fastboot files
And place them on your pc..for example
On desktop..
C:\Users\Name\Desktop\
and next step go in that directory via CMD typr this
cd C:\Users\Name\Desktop\Fastboot\
And type this
Fastboot getvar cid
Then you will se your CID
go this thread and follow steps to recover your phone

Thank you very much for your help.
I've did the steps as you say, and finally was able to "see" my phone in fastboot from PC.
but the CID I am getting is 11111111 , and there is no backup that matches it.
Can I overwrite it with some kind of rom ? I don't care to loose all the data, just to get a working phone.
Download clockwordmod recovery img file And flash it via Fastboot..
Fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
And then download this file:
Link!
And then access in recovery mount storage and copy that .zip file on your phone Clear and wipe everything except battery stats..And then flash that .zip file

Hi Thant, thank you for your help.
So you are saying that big noob's method won't work ?
I've downloaded the RUU, but I did not understand what you've meant by : "lock the bootloader" and when should I post the results of "fastboot getvar all" ? after I run the RUU , or before ?
You should post it before RUU..Well i tryed my method before and .zip flashed successfully..
And you can relock it with this command:
fastboot oem lock
Here's what I've got, no what should I do with it ?

ENDEAVORU XE have problems with update you must manually update the firmware and after this to install RUU or custom rom.
Download THIS OTA open the zip and extract firmware.zip to your fastboot folder after this do this
Type: fastboot oem rebootRUU and wait for device to reboot you will see HTC logo
Type: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip and wait for process to complete
Sometimes flashing for the first time doesn't work, so flash firmware.zip again just to make sure.
Type: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip and wait for process to complete
Type: fastboot reboot
Unlock your bootloader and flash custom recovery if you are going to use custom ROM.
I want to thank you for your patience with a noob like me
I did everything till the last line.
After flashboot reboot, my phone passed the first htc logo that it was stuck on , but now it's stuck on htc one screen (the one with beats audio logo at the bottom) .
Do I need to do the flash custom rom recovery ?

yes now flash custom recovery philz 5.15.x mount usb storage copy custom rom to the phone install and flash the boot.img and you will have working rom sense or no sense. Now after flash the firmware what is your hboot version 1.39? If yes you are ready to go
ok , just to make sure I understand before I do it a screw something up :
"yes now flash custom recovery philz 5.15.x mount usb storage copy custom rom to the phone install and flash the boot.img and you will have working rom sense or no sense. Now after flash the firmware what is your hboot version 1.39? If yes you are ready to go"
my hboot version is indeed 1.39
so I d/l philz custom recovery .
no I should :
fastboot flash zip philz_touch_6.07.9-endeavoru.zip
then go to the custom recovery ? (how ? ? ? )
then d/l some custom rom (any recomendations ? just a good stable one, possibly stock)
then copy it to phone using fastboot
and then , from custom recovery flash it ?
I'm sorry for all these questions, but I'm afraid to touch the damn thing already ))))
Flash the recovery (its a img file NOT a zip, take out the img if its in the zip)
Fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
Fastboot erase cache
Enter the recovery by selecting FASTBOOT in the bootloader and then RECOVERY (navigate with the volume buttons and confirm with the power button)
Go to the mounts and storage menu and mount the sdcard as a mass storage disk (wait a few minutes until it pops up on the pc)
Copy the rom.zip to the sdcard. Take out the boot.img and flash it via fastboot
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Enter recovery again and perform a full wipe
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced-wipe dalvik cache
Mounts and storage-format cache, data and system
Install the rom.zip
Done !
Roms....just check the android dev section. Many roms to choose and read up for yourself. It's not that difficult ...maximus and arhd are very close to stock.
Thank you for the detailed reply !
When doing Fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img I got the messege :
FAILED <remote : not allowed>
Is the problem that my phone is locked ? (written locked at the top of fastboot screen) tried to do fastboot oem unlock but getting "Command error !" .
I saw this solution : http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/74316-a-solution-to-fastboot-flash-recovery-not-allowed-error/ , but I'm not sure it will fit my phone (as it talkes about a different one) and what is a PD98IMG.zip file ?

[Q] Need to flash any ROM via Fastboot

My friend's One X (EndeavorU) is stuck in limbo. It doesn't have a ROM, but has a custom recovery and can be accessed while in Bootloader by Fastboot via USB. Now I need a way to either push a .zip ROM with Fastboot to its SDCard and flash it via recovery, or directly flash a system.img with Fastboot.
ADB does not detect the device while in recovery, so that's out, and I can't mount the storage in recovery either as it gets that f***ing annoying MTP device cannot start error (which is also probably the reason why ADB doesn't detect it). I've tried 2 computers, the registry edits, the custom drivers, nothing fixes it, so I'm stuck.
So, in short, does anyone have a basic One X ROM in .img form that I can use to at least boot up and use bluetooth or something to get the proper ROM on it, or know of a push equivalent command for fastboot?

Found out that TWRP apparently doesn't work (can either have touch pre 2.4.0.0 or USB mount post 2.4.0.0, and seeing as it's worse than useless without touch, it's out.)
Which recovery do you have?
What you are asking is not exactly possible.
What I would suggest is to search for a nandroid that matches your CID and main version, then, save it to sd card, and restore stock rom.
Before that, I suggest you use philz recovery, as it must work with higher hboots (such as shown above).

Only 2 recoveries I've come across are CWM and TWRP, and neither support USB mounting.
Thought so, but doesnt hurt to ask.
One X has no SD card slot, if it had, I wouldn't be here bothering all these nice people .
Will try out that recovery, though seeing as it's based on CWM, I won't get my hopes up.
Phil'z recovery you can find in original development section.
It has USB mounting, so you can transfer the ROM or nandroid to external memory (AKA sd card ).

Couldn't even install it since it's a .zip file (also, latest versions of Phil'z Recovery are the same as CWM according to several posters, no USB mounting). Found out though that CWM 5.x.x.x works, so flashed that and used it to install a stock ROM.
Man, it's getting harder and harder to root phones, miss the days of Desire.

Seeing as I've kinda resolved this, how do I mark the thread as answered?
Did you try to unzip, and find an ".img" file inside ?
Anyhow, I' glad you managed to help your friend. :good:
Mods will lock this thread, don't worry.

Did a quick look through, and there was no .img in the archive.
Thanks for your help .
@ShEsHy
as i can see you have a new hboot.
download this recovery "recovery"
and in fastboot use "fastboot flash recovery cwr_6.0.4.4.img"
this recovery as it has updated touch drivers for newer hboots and a "working" mount as usb feature.

Hold down the power button + vol up till your phone reboots (it'll take a bit, 20 seconds or so). AS SOON AS THE SCREEN GOES BLACK slide your finger from vol up to vol down. That will take you to your bootloader.
Hook up to your PC and get into ADB. Enter the command fastboot getvar all and post the readout here. Delete your serial no and IMEI from the readout before posting it for your own security.

You have old firmware and probably tried flashing a 4.4.4 ROM. I would suggest getting S-Off to update your firmware. Also your version main is blank. That would give your actual firmware version, but I can tell it is 4.4.2 based from your hboot number. It is blank because the TWRP version you are using is either old or 2.8.1.0. Both will cause that. Update your recovery as well.
In the meantime, flash this in recovery. It is a stock ROM backup that should fix your issue.
If you are going to try to run newer versions of ROMs, you'll need to have newer firmware. You can either get S-Off to do that, or convert back to stock (stock ROM and recovery, unmodified system partition) and take the OTAs.

You can't put it onto your extSD? In the bootloader menu, pick hboot (vol keys to navigate, power button to select) and it will give you the option for booting into recovery.
Or in ADB/fastboot issue the command fastboot reboot-recovery

Okay. I didn't explain the process thinking you would realize that it is a nandroid backup and not a ROM.
You have to place it into your TWRP backup folder.
Here are the instructions:
Q : How do i restore the stock nandroid backup
A : In general :
- Place the nandroid backup unpacked on the sdcard of the phone in the right backup folder
TWRP uses - TWRP\Backups\ or TWRP/Backups/serialnum/ (replace serialnum with your device's serial number. To have TWRP create the proper directory structure for you, just do a simple backup of just the boot partition and put the backup files in there) thanks to garyd9 for the additional info
- Flash the boot.img or boot.emmc.win file from the nandroid backup
- Make a full wipe in the recovery
- Restore the nandroid backup and reboot
If your backups are saved to your SD card, that's where to put it. It's always best to save nandroids to external.

This will probably be easier for you. Download this ROM. It is 4.4.2 based and should work for you. It's not a backup, so no messing around putting it into a folder. Place it onto your extSD and flash it in recovery.

Yes, just flash it. If you have issues after the flash, retry the wipes and flash it again. Not being able to wipe dalvik and data is strange. What version of TWRP are you using? The newest is 2.8.4.0. I'm using 2.8.3.0 and don't have these problems. You should probably update your recovery. The system, cache, and dalvik get wiped automatically during the ROM install as the devs have that put into the install script.

Maybe. The link I gave you is from the official TWRP website, just like this next link is. Flashing a recovery not meant for your device can really screw stuff up and possibly hard brick your phone. Be more careful.
You will want to use one of these recovery versions. I'm using 2.8.3.0, but I have heard good things about the newest 2.8.4.0.

At&t and GSM variants use same recovery so flash 2.8.4.0 provided in the link above BY xunholyx.
Also i recommend to upgrade the rom by running stock backup and then update through official OTA ..

I have tried to use a stock recovery backup but it doesn't work I don't get any OTA updates for the new firmware
I don't really know which way to go either with a stock recovery or a nan droid backup to get me back to stock
I have tried different stock recovery's but im not sure on the ones I need I have tried 3.28.401.9 and 3.29.161.5 stock recovery's
not sure which nandroid back to use or where to put it on my sd card

You don't need to root it because a custom ROM is pre-rooted.
You just need TWRP installed and install custom ROM zip ... that's all

Factory reset doesn't affect the ROM in any way. It just wipes user data.
Just follow the steps as they have been given to you, don't skip anything, no need to add anything. It doesn't say anything in the steps about doing a factory reset.

I don't think there is a need to start over. Just do steps 8 and 9.
Maybe you did do all the steps. For whatever reason, you are still on custom recovery (TWRP) and not stock recovery (stock recovery is needed for OTA). Sometimes recovery will just fail to flash. So fastboot erase cache, then do steps 8 and 9 again (flash stock recovery, then do the OTA).

Again, don't make up steps. Don't do anything you haven't been told to do.
Relocking the bootloader is not necessary at any point in this process. It actually puts you in worse position than before. Do NOT do it.
Thanks sorry once again
Hi redpoint73
many thanks for the information and help
I will have to start from scratch as I did a full factory wipe and lost my stock recovery from the internal storage I should have put it on the external sd card
I know I did all the steps and was just waiting for the software update to verify it had down loaded that's when its reboots to twrp recovery
on the stock recovery I have to start like its a new phone the only thing is supersu keeps asking to be installed which I didn't do
yes I will just follow the steps given to me to the letter
I also have to backup the boot and just the boot section which is correct I think for the twrp and serial number to put the twrp file there
will update soon and hopefully wont have anymore hassle I cant promise I wont be back
sorry
cheers

First of all, if you wiped internal storage, you did something that was not in the instructions.
Second, you don't need the stock recovery file on the phone at all to flash it. It goes in the fastboot folder on your PC (wherever fastboot.exe located).

If you are referring to TWRP asking you to root, that is normal anytime you use TWRP with an unrooted ROM. Just ignore it.

We don't mind helping you (I personally enjoy helping others), and we don't mind you coming back. Just make sure you try your best to understand the steps, follow them closely, and if you come back, its for a good reason.
