Urgent help needed! Stock recovery bricked! - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay, I'm trying to go into stock recovery via power off phone, power+volume up+home, leave power, press other to for 5 seconds. It's just stuck on the boot screen, the one that shows the model number. This happened after triangle away. Please, PLEASE, try not to be trolls here, as I'm ****ted my warranty is gone.
What I did was flash latest stock image for my region, CF auto root, triangleaway.

Isnt it volume down while powering on?
Can you trigger the mode using adb?

TELUS - T989D - ROOT Discussion

Hello,
Just got my T989D
I can't get ODIN to see the phone. If i plug the phone in USB mode i can access the internal storage on the computer.
I removed battery, press vol + and -, hold and plug in USB, nothing happens, the device doesn't do anything, shows the battery is charging..
can anyone help?
did you install the samsung drivers for Kies?
you'll need them for Odin to see the phone
Try just volume down + power.

confirmed. works.
Now, i flashed the recovery image, however, holding vol + and -, power doesn't boot in recovery.
Scratch that. Everything is fine.. performing backup.
I'm planning on doing a write up for this and a video later today, but my Nexus S has a dead battery. Rooting was super easy, just a slightly different key combination than the TMo SGS2.
Instead of Vol+, Vol-, and power, use only Vol- and power, that will allow you to use odin to load CWM recovery, once you have that hold vol +, vol -, and power from a powered off state, and that will get you into recovery. Then you can install the SU, I used this one from ChainsDD site directly:
downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.6-efgh-signed.zip
(I cant post links directly because I don't post often, just lurk and work).
As stated earlier, I will try to write a more comprehensive HOW-TO later, possibly complete with video. By the way, you may need to install SU signed, or try it multiple times, but it does work.
If you use any of the current ROMS, your phone will think its a T989, not a T989D, and you will only see 3G instead of 4G in the notification bar. It doesn't affect speed at all however.
I hope this helps.

Boom..
Rooted.
Thank you!!!
I've been messing with this all night with the wrong key combo, thank you! Rooted mine and my wife's in less than 5 min.

Please help root and unlock Telus Galaxy S2
Hello,
I am a new member.
Just ordered a Telus Samsung Galaxy S2 phone.
Waiting eagerly for it to arrive.
In a meanwhile, started reading the forum to see how I can root it and unlock to use with a different network.
Reading this thread, I understand that it is indeed possible.
Can somebody please explain to me where to get ODIN and what to do with it?
And also, there mention of installing SU. How do I install it? Do I need to put it on SD card and run it from there within the phone?
Sorry for such basic dumb questions....
Thanks in advance for your answers.

You need to hold VOL DOWN and then insert the cable and the drivers will install. Telus phones are different.

You will lose your fancy 4G icon because juggernaut is based off the T-Mobile ROM... not sure what else there is to lose to be honest. Juggernaut / BeastMOD are both awesome.
Boot into recovery mode and create a nandroid backup of your stock before doing anything.

Galaxy note 2 WONT BOOT!!!

Really need some assistance here if someone could please help. I downloaded chainfire 3d, because i read it would speed up my game lag/speed. After install, it asked for a reboot....my phone hasnt been able to boot now, it has been stuck on the logo screen. I can get into recovery mode, i did a reset and formatted everything (which i REALLY didnt want to do), but i need my phone on asap. After all that, nothing has worked after reboot. Still stuck on logo screen, someone please give me any ideas to get this back on its really upsetting Thanks a lot, really hope someone has some ideas.

If you can still get into Download Mode you can always flash the stock rom back using the Odin tool on your PC. Use the procedure below to get into download mode:
Entering download mode is very simple. First you will need to turn off your device. Once it’s off, you need to press this button combination: volume down, power button and home button. Keep them pressed until the download mode shows up. Once you’re there, you will be requires to press volume up to enter the download mode or volume down to cancel and reboot the device.
Then follow these instructions:
If u have a custom recovery there's always this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086769
And sadly yes cf3d does not work on any device with touchwiz jellybean
What I did in that situation is first download a stock deodexed rom.
Then connect your phone with your pc and open the Odin program on your computer.
(may or may not have to install Kies)
Then flash the deodexed rom to your phone.

[Q] Pls can someone help me? Flashing new radio

HI, i've been on here all night trying to flash a new radio but after 3 hours I am pulling my hair out.
I have htc desire hd with cyanogenmod 7.2.0.
My radio is old so I downloaded PD98IMG as I don't have gps and it needs updating anyway. I've been searching around and I cant even get into bootloader?!
Maybe I don't have s-off?! If so I can't even get it?!
Please can someone PM me, I'll even pay you to help me!! I need a fresh pair of eyes and someone who knows what they're doing.

ok..you never install a PD98IMG file in recovery unless you want to mess your device. Boot the phone normally, go to menu>settings>power options and untick fastboot.
Then power off the device and turn it on by pressing power + volume down
Where's fast boot located in 4.2.2 ROMs

Thanks for the reply glevitan.
I don't have the "power options" option.
Nothing special happens when pressing power + volume down. It simply reacts to my pressing of the power button and offers me the usual shut down, reboot, silent, aeroplane mode etc.

1. I don't understand what you're asking and why. Could you clarify? Like, where the binaries are saved? And is there a reason you're asking?
2. You're kind of hijacking someone else's thread on a completely unrelated topic. You might want to consider creating a new Q&A thread.

Apologies Glevitan, I can get into hboot now. I did miss the power off bit first.
However I can't press up volume as its broke and has been for sometime.
Tried to follow the guide http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...astboot-flash-radio-modem-using-fastboot.html
but it just says waiting for device and has done even before I worked out how to hboot.
I tried just loading hboot on its own to see what happened and when i load up the hboot it just says do I want to update radio v2 and I can't select yes (if that's what I should do?)

lol.. i meant the bootloader. Thank god you corrected me..
You can use the adb to reboot to bootloader. Just go to terminal, cmd whatever, type "adb reboot bootloader".. And you can flash radio using fastboot command.. But you need to be s-off.. I am not sure whether it is possible to flash radio using shipped hboot. I think it is possible. But better to wait for glevitan to clear things up. :good:

My advice is that you fix the volume rocker first. If you get stuck flashing a radio and your rocker is messed...then you might get stuck in the splash screen...
It broke a while ago. I bought a new rocker and glued it on. The glue set and stuck, disabling the up volume button only. I won't be able to fix this now I've ruined it!

A couple questions....
1: What were you doing that got the power button sticky???
2. Were you previously on the stock official 4.3 OTA? (this matters because you may still be able to access download mode. But only counts if you can flash 4.1.x firmware)
If you have not updated to the 4.3 official OTA with bootloader, try download mode. You may be able to Odin it back to stock. Or you could use a Jig to force download.
Here is someone with an identical problem who has had it fixed. Se here for reference.http://www.s3forums.com/forum/galaxy-s3-help/5518-help-power-button-broken-stuck-boot-loop-2.html

If you haven't updated to 4.3 bootloader you are safe to re-flash a 4.1.2 firmware. See if you can get into download mode. If you dont have a jig, you can make one like so (with a bit of talent)...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604707

I suppose it depends on what do you mean by "go into bootloader". Usually PC is not required to start HOV in the bootloader. All you have to do is to hold volume down button pressed while turning on the phone. Please be more specific if this is not what are you trying to do.
Edited: oh sorry for my post, I didn't read all this thread carefully enough. Try searching here, if I do not mistake again I've seen similar issues mentioned already.

Hi Dante,
please can you provide what Operating system the computer you plug the phone into is running, whether you have installed the ADB and Fastboot tools, as well as whether the phone uses a SIM card as well. Also whether you can reboot the phone at all, by pressing the power button.
If you can turn it right off and then turn it on while holding volume down, then write down the HBOOT version and Radio number to provide here as well. If possible find out from your friend what what ROM he was trying to install. The more info you can give us the more specific we can be with the help.
As mentioned earlier it sounds just like a kernel issue. So with this information we should be able to help you easily.
