Like many Mac users, I have been struggling with the fact that Android File Transfer (AFT) suddenly stopped working when Mountain Lion was released. I do not like Kies for Mac (or Kies in general, really), and missed the simplicity that AFT has in getting stuff to and from my device, both internal and external storage wise. My life was a shambles. I cried myself to sleep most nights.
But no more.
A recent development has allowed AFT to work for us once again! Huzzah!
First, download the Kies installer from here. Do NOT install. Rather, run the UNINSTALL app that appears. This will ensure that any remnants of Mac Kies, which interferes with AFT, is removed.
Then grab the latest version of AFT from here.
Put away tissues. Get good night's sleep.
***UPDATED***
The Kies uninstaller can now be found at the Samsung website within the Kies install package. Changed link to point directly to it.

How often do you update this kies program?

that is the one thing I hate about Mac. I ended up just dual booting my Macbook, bought a larger hard drive and bought a full version of Windows 7. This was all just to screw with my phone and flash stuff via odin.

I don't. This particular version contains the uninstaller that is needed to get rid of the remnants on your computer.

I recommend everyone to perform a Google search for "kies" and go to their official website to download the latest version because this version can be outdated and incompatible with later versions of Mac OS. And also, not that I don't trust the OP but how do I know his file has not been compromised by mal ware? No offense. Just saying. Trying to be safe here.
Or the OP can just link to the official kies website like he did with AFT.

LOL. Do what now? So, you come along 3 months after this helpful post has been accessed by a number of people, from a reputable 6-year member of XDA, and question the help that is given? That's pretty funny, my man. I am glad I could help you too. Here is some more help...if you are going to attempt to bite the hand that feeds you, at least do some research on your own first. Had you done that, you would have discovered that Samsung does not distribute the uninstaller anymore (and hasn't for a while) for Kies, and I (after doing my own research) managed to find it, test it, and host it on my OWN website, for grateful people like yourself.
So, welcome to XDA, new guy. Let's try to be a little more gracious.

I just Googled "kies." Samsung's website was at the top of the list. I downloaded the app, and ran the uninstaller.

I can confirm that the proper uninstaller is now being distributed by Samsung, and I have changed the link in the OP to reflect that. Thanks for the link, TheWalkingDead.
Your forum etiquette could use some work, holmes. I made the OP 3 months ago, and the Kies version I posted was the only one with an uninstaller that was proven to work at that time. If there is an updated one now from Samsung, great, I have no issues pointing to that one. Coming in here and claiming I could be distributing malware is...reckless, to say the least.
It appears we are good now, updated OP and with a clean link. Thank You.
Awesome! I'll finally be able to use my Mac for most of this stuff now instead of having to switch computers.

Polaroid All in One is a C++ application that will easily and quickly Root, Un-Root, and Install / Remove Google Applications and Google Services Framework. This software is designed for the PTAB8000, and PMID800. However, should work for similar tablets running Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean (Google Apps only supported on Android 4.0.x). If you use this software with any other device please post your results in the this forum.
Requirements
Microsoft Windows (Tested on Windows 7 and Windows XP)
ADB Drivers Installed
Android Device Running 4.0 or 4.1 (Google Apps only supported on 4.0.x)
Recommended Method
Use version 1.6b to root your device, then use version 2.1b to install Google Framework.
UPDATE 8/11/14 -- Why doesn't this work with my device?
I just wanted to clear a few things up. I have had a few inquires about PAIO (Polaroid AIO) not installing Google Framework on their devices. The framework included in the latest releases is only compatible with Android 4.0.x. While PAIO v1.6b should be able to root 4.0, and 4.1 devices, the application will refuse to load the framework on a non-compatible version of android. If your tablet is not running a variant of Ice Cream Sandwich, it's simply not going to work. If we continue development we can support newer versions of Android. But, for now you would have to install the framework manually. If you would like to pursue a manual install I recommend you check out this page: http://wiki.rootzwiki.com/Google_Apps Make sure you know what you are doing, and install the version that is correct for your device. I'm waiting to get more feedback on the poll before I decide to continue this project.
Have a great week everyone,
Wayne
UPDATE 8/10/14 -- [Quick Survey] Should we continue development?
As I am sure some of you have noticed by now, this project has not been under active development for over a year now. We had an event that resulted in a loss of the source code for the project. As a result, the project was put on the back burner as it worked "OK"-ish. Between the 1.6b and 2.1b releases it did meet the requirements at the time, which was to root and install a full play store on the PTAB8000, and PMID800 devices. While these devices may not be as popular at this time (they had a fairly high failure rate). There are other Generic devices that people have used this program on, with mixed results. I did have a PTAB8000 with a cracked screen donated a while back. As long as we have people to test/debug, and support the project however they can. I am willing to start the project from scratch (again).
All I ask is for a few minutes of your time to take a quick survey to help me understand the interest we have in this project.
Click here to take the survey.
UPDATE 1/21/13 -- Polaroid AIO v2.1b [Beta Release]
After a nightmare's worth of coding Polaroid All in One v2.1b is finally here. This update aims to provide the best possible user experience. While utilizing the latest patches discovered by the team. I would like to give a special shout out to Android Pizza for taking the initiative to get a fully stocked Play Store on the PTAB8000. Special thanks to the guys over at FreakTab for providing the permission files needed for the patch on the PTAB8000. Last but not least I would like to thank all of you for testing every release. You're feedback is critical to this product. Every post has helped with PAIO's development process.
PTAB8000 users please make sure you are running a stock firmware. If you have tried earlier versions of PAIO, or have used any other files to patch your tablet, you must re-flash your tablet. Please see the section below on flashing your PTAB8000.

UPDATE 12/30/12 -- Polaroid AIO v1.6b [Old, Stable Release]
I am leaving this version posted as it seems to have been the most stable version. This will work with Android Pizza's tutorial on the PTAB8000, and works perfectly on the PMID800. It is recommended this version be used to root, and 2.1b used to install the framework (if supported on your device).

I need people to test this update and let me know if it fixes the issues with the Google Services Framework, and the Google Play Store crashing. I'm trying to give it a go but I cannot get Windows 8 to recognise the device when I plug it in. I managed to get the ADB drivers installed eventually as you need a work around for the "The third-party INF does not contain digital signature information" but that didnt help Windows 8 see the device. Then I installed the Google USB Drivers from the Android SDK Manager, but that hasn't helped.
I have everything checked correctly in the Settings --> Developer's section too....... Anyone else managed to get this device to work with Windows 8?

What device do you have? Did you follow these steps here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982718 Can you run an adb command to interface with the device? I do not currently have a Windows 8 install to debug on. Give me a couple hours and I'll setup a VM for some debuging... You may also want to try using compatibility mode. http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-8/run-a-program-in-compatibility-mode-in-windows-8/
OK. I ended up using a crappy Netbook running Win7 and your v1.3b can see the device perfectly. Unfortunately I don't have any Google apps, but I do have root. Not sure why framework and Google apps didn't work but I even tried resetting the tablet to stock to try again. I've tried all options numerous times, and no beans on this device I'm afraid.
Like I said. It rooted perfectly and I love how slick everything is. Seriously impressive work my friend. Hopefully you can take a look into the issues I'm having? Anyone else had this problem?
I do have one more PTAB8000 I can try this one once I'm given the tablet that is... (Doing this for my Lads girlfriend and sister)
Thanks TeOHD4 !!

Is the device that will not give you google apps a PTAB8000? No errors given?
Also have you tried 1.2? The Framework is a little buggy but will be helpful in debugging why this is not working with your device.
Thank you for the support. Glad you where able to at least get root, and we will work on getting google apps installed for you. Give 1.2 a go and let me know what happens.

Both are PTAB8000's. The one I have at the moment just worked with v1.2 on the 1st attempt when trying to add the framework and gApps.. I didn't try any other option since v1.3b rooted it first..
v1.3b didnt give any error messages... My observations between v1.2 and v1.3b is that they both show that they are doing the same thing, but v1.3b does it at such a speed that it's hard to imagine that the device had enough time to receive the files that were being pushed. On v1.2 is was a lot slower and more in tune with the fact that data is being pushed to the device.
Then on the reboot, you get the Android is updating logo before hitting the desktop for version 1.2, whereas I didn't get that with v1.3b....
I can't test any of the apps just yet as I need my Son's, Girlfriends gmail account details but so far so good.
Seriously GREAT work TeODH4

Ok thanks for your feedback. 1.2 should work for you However you will experience some bugs such as com.google.gapps randomly crashing which i tried to fix. in 1.3b. I will take a look at the 1.3 code and see if i can figure out what the issue is. Maybe add some better error checking.

Found the issue with 1.3. just a simple typo when trying to change directory to Resources/gapps. If you don't mind give 1.4b a shot,
Be sure to Remove Google Apps first, then install. It worked just fine with my simulation. But without having a tablet to debug on at the moment its hard to be sure...

PolaroidAIO stuck waiting for the devide to be ready
Hi,
I tried AIO 1.3-1.4 on a PTAB8000 and it it just waits forever for the tablet to be ready. The ADB drivers appear properly installed (I see an Android Phone/ADB interface in the device manager on XP SP2). Any suggestions?

Hey Wayne, My sons GF has took her tablet after finishing work. Until she brings her sisters tablet over I'm without a device to help try things out
Update: this will not work on the recent firmware updates.
Hey, you can't jailbreak an Android.. yeah, i know, but "Jailbreak" is a protected act under the USA DMCA Exemption of 2012 and "Unlocking" is illegal without carrier permission. There will be no misunderstandings here.
WARNING:
This is not a normal bootloader unlock. This is even higher. It's an IROM unlock. This device went from the most secure Galaxy Note 10.1 to the least secure. After performing the technique in this thread your device will allow you to flash a Justin Beiber MP3 over your bootloaders (that means a hard brick). BE VERY CAREFUL and never flash with Odin or Heimdall unless you're absolutely sure it is intended for a SCH-I925. Odin or Heimdall can easily brick your device.
Introduction
CASUAL will guide you through the process of unlocking your bootloader using exploits developed by Lee Harrison. It works on Windows, Linux, and Mac. Put your device into “Developer Mode>USB Debugging”. Click the do it button. Any problems will be addressed with updates. See the About CASUAL section below.
Overview
You are expected to be STOCK.... Stock anything, but stock. This will install a stock kernel and that may affect non-stock roms. You will need to download and execute the CASUAL application below. Make sure you're connected to the internet. Then click the Do It! button. You need Java. Do you have Java?.
Windows 32/64 Users: CASUAL will put your device into Download Mode. It will automatically flash everything. If drivers are required, jrloper's CADI (CASUAL Automated Driver installer) will handle it. Make sure you're connected to the internet.
Linux 32/64/raspberry pi Users There may be a permission escalation in order to install heimdall, either way sit back and relax. CASUAL automates the entire process.
Please run the following in a terminal first:
Mac Users: Mac works easierr than any other system at the time of this release on 32bit systems. Please report problems.
Download
Take Note Verizon CASUAL(R478b) CASUAL is used to automate the process. The exploit was developed by Elite Recognized Developer Ralekdev and packaged by AdamOutler. To run CASUAL you need Java. Do you have Java?
Note: Please don't mirror this file. Link to this thread for download. d-h.st is a fast server. If I find people mirroring old versions of CASUAL, i will throw the killswitch and their browser will bring them back here to download the new one so they end up downloading it twice, otherwise I have to support multiple versions.
Videos
Demonstration on Linux. It is roughlty the same on Windows and Mac, but if anyone wants to make a video I will put it here.
About CASUAL
CASUAL stands for Cross-platform ADB Scripting, Univeral Android Loader. CASUAL jar files are a wrapper for the CASUAL scripting language. CASUAL allows rapid and accurate deployment of hacks and exploits. CASUAL is an Open Format, meaning, you can find out as much as you need to about how it works because they're easily taken apart and modified with WinZip. CASUAL is also secure. At any time, if a serious problem is detected with any script, the kill-switch will be flipped and you will be brought to a support page (most likely here) so you can download the latest version. Otherwise for minor corrections, new CASUAL scripts can be deployed remotely.
Here's a picture of CASUAL and a Verizon GNote10.1 running Team Win Recovery

CASUAL will let you root, but it won't install files that will damage your device. Even if it would, it's a bad idea. This is an IROM unlock, intended for Verizon devices only. IROM unlock means you can flash anything you want including files that destory your device.
You don't need this if you can flash custom kernels and ROMs. We have taken down all defenses here. If the U.S. Cellular version is locked down and you cant flash kernels/ROMs without it, I can release a new, updated version.

Thanks Sir. The U.S. Cellular version is locked down like the Verizon version as far as I can tell. Since the US Carriers decided to do the same crap with the bootloaders. I have root using framaroot but I'm unable to install a recovery or flash a kernel.

So here is what I am seeing, see the pictures attached
Alright guys. I'm uploading two new packages....
The first one is the latest copy of the Take Note Verizon jailbreak. It includes a modified Recovery by Dees_Troy. Our Note 10.1's are different than the other ones.
Differences: The partition structure is totally different. The kernels are totally different. This means you will soft-brick your device by flashing anything in these forums involving a recovery or a kernel other than this one. That being said..... It may be a good idea to get a separate forum. If you are interested, please start a *NEW THREAD* in General forums listing all the i925 specific threads which could be moved.
Alright. For the second part, I'm uploading a Rooted back-to-stock which I packaged from my own device before unlocking it and flashing stuff. Here's the technique used. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2082951 . This file is large so it will be a while before it's uploaded. The files included are basically everything needed to safely get back from a custom ROM and be rooted stock again.
Files included: boot.img, hidden.img, modem.bin, param.bin, recovery.img, system.img
We don't have a way to remove the modified system status currently. There is no completely back to stock.

no. The hardware is different. The bootloaders are similar. You need a different kernel
As a note: Never flash an N8010 bootloader. this is a SPECIAL bootloader based on the N8010 bootloader. Just pretend it has nothing to do with N8010. For all practical purposes, this is an I925 bootloader we crafted out of an N8010 because we didn't have a i925 to work with.
Ok thanks, mostly just curious as i own the N8013 but considered the verizon version or selling and getting the unlocked international.
Thanks a ton Adam! Worked perfectly.
So if I have this correctly, we will be running stock until we get a dev to start working on our variant? I would assume that the other roms wouldn't install correctly with the partitions being different correct?

Yeah... don't flash nothin' or you will die. . We need a ROM dev.
Great work Adam, almost sent you a PM begging you to take this project on about 6 weeks ago... thanks!
But I had some problem as I ran the script, it stopped after it had rebooted and was stuck in Download Mode and asked me for my XDA username for some pastebin. The last information in that pastebin was:

Claiming interface...

Protocol is not initialised.

After unpluging and holding the power down for a few secs it rebooted as usually, but I dont know if it completed or not... how do I know if the bootloader got unlocked?
If you would like to see the pastebin then I'd be glad to be able to help, just let me know.
Thanks again,

[SIZE=+1]Q3: My device is encrypted, how do I remove the encryption because I can't flash new Roms? [/SIZE]
If you do not have or have forgot your password, you can only factory reset your phone to remove encryption.
[SIZE=+1]Q4: Will rooting affect my battery life?[/SIZE]
No simply rooting the phone should not hamper battery life.
[SIZE=+1]Q5: What is the best ROM?[/SIZE]
There is no best ROM for all users, depends on personal needs and preferences. best to pick a few which look like they meet your needs, and try them out..
[SIZE=+1]Q6: How do I return to stock?[/SIZE]
You can download the stock rom and return to stock using updated ODIN / http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2465764
[SIZE=+1]Q7: Can I use my SGN3 on other networks?[/SIZE]
At this time you can request a sim unlock from T-Mobile and use on networks with a sim that have same network towers.
[SIZE=+1]Q8: Can I flash a new recovery without rebooting my GNOTE 3?[/SIZE]
Yes. Place the recovery.img on your sdcard root. Open a terminal emulator and type "su flash_image recovery /sdcard/xxx.img". (Note: The x's are the name of the recovery as some may hold a different name. If not on the sdcard root folder, specify the folder /sdcard/xxx/xxx.img!)
[SIZE=+1]Q9: Will rooting my device void my warranty?[/SIZE]
Yes. If you have a T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 it will void your warranty. If you have another variation in other countries, then you will need to check your Terms Of Service with your provider.
[SIZE=+1]Q10: How do I use the Sideload function?[/SIZE]
Install a recovery that has sideload functionality.Choose Sideload in recovery. Update the Android SDK to the newest version. Use the command " ADB Sideload (path to where the .zip you want to install is).
[SIZE=+1]Q11: How do I get to the Developer options to enable Debug mode?[/SIZE]
On your handset, click on menu>settings> General Tab > about device. Then scroll down to Build Number and keep tapping. It will give you messages like "5 more steps until you are a developer" Then it will open the developer option. Back out and click developer options and then USB Debugging.
[SIZE=+1]Q12: I'm having a problem rooting with Odin. What is the easiest way?[/SIZE]
If you are having issues, try updating your version of ODIN and also downloading the .tar file from an alternate source".
[SIZE=+1]Q13: What is a "logcat" and how do I create one? [/SIZE]
For setting up ADB see What is ADB (above) logcat allows us to log what the OS is doing, and possibly offer information if things are not working. its quite simple to create but may be difficult for most to understand. This is a tool a Developer may ask for in detecting issues your device may be encountering.
To use logcat
Code:
adb shell
logcat
To logcat to a certain file do
Code:
adb shell
logcat -d > /sdcard/whatevertexfileyoulike.txt
For a full explanation follow the link in What is ADB
[SIZE=+1]Q14: What is KNOX, and how does it affect me?[/SIZE]

[SIZE=+1]Q15: I have gps issues. Why can't I lock onto GPS?[/SIZE]
Some roms have "time" issues with getting a gps lock. This is a known issue with all custom Roms.
[SIZE=+1]Q16: How do I get the best out of my Rom?[/SIZE]
Depending on what Rom you choose. Once you go to the "THEME" sections there are many more mods for your selected rom. Always try different Roms to fit your liking.
[SIZE=+1]Q17: Titanium Backup ask if I would like to restore my original ID Code after I flash roms, what should I do.?[/SIZE]
Do to the mass amount of custom roms, some internel phone setting get changed by default. You should always restore ID codes and native handset information when possible.
[SIZE=+1]Q18: How loud is too loud?[/SIZE]
That realistically is up to you. Rule of thumb, if your sounds is distorted, even the least bit, then lower the settings. Distortion is a warning sign, and prolonged use can damage your hardware.
[SIZE=+1]Q19: I have about 4gb of data missing from internal storage I cannot find. Where is it?[/SIZE]
Recovery uses a large amount of data for backups. TWRP saves by default, backups to the /sdcard/twrp or /sdcard/0/twrp directory. Make sure you delete old or unused backups.
[SIZE=+1]Q20: I need to return my rooted phone for a replacement. Does returning to stock work?[/SIZE]
Yes. Follow the instructions on the forum for unrooting and flash the Odin stock file. If you flash an earlier version, make sure to accept updates to get your phone back to factory. Knox 0x1 will affect rather your warranty will be honored
[SIZE=+1]Q21: What is so different about the Galaxy Note 3 that should get me to upgrade from the Note 2?[/SIZE]
Other then the hardware and screen upgrades, you can read the the 45+ Ultra-Advanced Features of the Note 3 found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441935 Thread by Ipsuvedi
[SIZE=+1]Q22: While restoring using Titanium Backup, I get constant FC's. How do I fix this?[/SIZE]
The TB Team is working on a fix for the SELinux links in the new system. For the time being, everytime you restore apps using TB you will need to run TB Restore Fixer found here
[SIZE=+1]Q23: Does restoring in recovery break my phone? I fear the "brickloops"!?[/SIZE]
Not with TWRP version 2.6.3.5 <<CLICK - problems existed with earlier versions but basic restores (boot, system, data) are now working as they should. Thanks to dwitherell for the Q&A

Might be worth adding in some info on the initial recovery issues with restores, resolutions if you suffered them, and versions that no longer have those issues (or at least not to the same extent)
Nice FAQ.
I knew the answer to every question but one, so hey, I learned something. Namely, I had no idea that the "flash_image" util was so prevalent. I assumed it was a touchwiz-only thing, but I just checked and it's also present on my CyanogenMod 10.2 ROM as well. Doing a "flash_image recovery /sdcard/twrp_foo.img" is certainly easier than having to remember the correct partition to manually 'dd' to (though still not as easy as just using GooManager).
One other Q for the FAQ:
Q: Is it too big?
A: No.
Does it perfectly work with AT&T's network? (including LTE)
Yes!

It's the annoying space-wasting notification that TouchWhiz shows when you have NFC enabled. Stock Android doesn't do that.

Was just pushed a 4.6.6.1 update to my unlocked AT&T version that says it includes bug fixes. It did kill my SuperSU root but reusing kingroot worked and then the script here to switch back to SuperSU worked as before. Google play store and apps seem to work. Unfortunately it doesn't fix the lenticular photo not working as a lock screen. That is really lame since that is the main gimmick this phone has left going for it and it doesn't even work any more. Videos in facebook work but I am not sure if that was fixed before or not.

Thank for let us know that there is a new 4.6.6.1 Firmware update for the Amazon Fire Phone.

Sadly Amazon doesn't share as much info about the changes as they did in the past... If you ask a representative, they will answer something along the lines of: "security enhancements, user interface / app improvements", etc.
The AT&T page hasn't been updated either, although the update is available.

Facebook from Amazon store?
Did you mean Google play's Facebook?
The most updated, aka "the current version", is from google play store.
I'm still with 4.6.6 firmware and Facebook from Amazon Store is NOT compatible with Fire Phone
From google store, after updating to 4.6.6.1, I upgraded fb from version 45.0.0.36.146( the latest version I could find that still worked) to 77.0.0.20.66, and everything works great!!

Hey guys I'm telling you this update of fire phone rocks.. Lot of bug fixes facebook is running well and also messenger. And its also a big hope for fire users that it'll get the 5.0 OS soon and further updates because amazon has promised that they'll launch fire phone 2 in 2016
I'm pretty sure this one fixed the TrustZone vulnerability reported few months back. Don't update if you have any hopes of unlocking the bootloader ever!

Sorry about that, should've written it in more detail when I said "the other images were identical". ^^
First time, I just did a quick check with MD5, so here's a "complete" list: image comparison
(From 4.6.1 to 4.6.6.1, I didn't put them on my linux laptop yet, so that's all for now...)
Well congratulations on everything so far and I hope you're happy with your job and being a "working class hero". :good:
edit: after my "dirty flash" to 4.6.6.1 regarding streaming issues:
Play Store versions: Twitch - not working, Periscope (throwaway acc.) - not working.

So, Thanks to @Bingo Bronson I can see that amazon didn't bother to upgrade the trustzone since 4.6.1. I guess updating from 4.6.1 -> 4.6.6.1 wouldn't harm any chance of trustzone exploit.

Arielaco linked the correct files, there is no '1820' version. Look at the release history and you will understand:
35.4.6.1_user_461013820
35.4.6.3_user_463001420
35.4.6.3_user_463001620
35.4.6.6_user_466000820
(example from US unlocked GSM version)
Among changes in this update, I found one that adversely affects the device, unfortunately (albeit trivially). There's no document viewer by default anymore. It says "No application available to view this file."
Can anyone else confirm this? I'd like to be sure whether it's this update or a random glitch on my device.
Hello everyone,
I would like to share something with you.
I got a Mi 11X and unlocked the bootloader officially. The Phone uses a A/B partition system making installation of bootloader and custom ROM little difficult.
I used RUN_TWRP_Toolkit downloaded from here.
I downloaded xiaomi.eu from official site and installed.
Everything was going well until i received a couple of messages from my bank on 15/10/21 about my credit card being used for 4 transactions over a period of 4 mins.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I blocked my card and spoke with the bank. Apparently the transactions WERE authorized using OTP received on my phone. They were for the exact same amount and occurred within a span of few mins as evident from this email I received from Axis bank.
I failed to understand how this happened. No one has my credit card details or access to my phone. My phone is NOT rooted, no apps installed from malicious sources. Only 5 apps have read SMS permission and all were installed from playstore - Amazon, Flipkart, Gpay, Swiggy, Whatsapp.
I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this issue. I also doubt whether the TWRP installed has something to do with this and whether its possible that it has some malicious code installed? Can anyone like scan the file?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Thank you very much. You can check the download link also. I just attached the .IMG file but it came with many files inside a zip
I think this is unofficial fake twrp toolkit problem , xiaomi eu rom is is not the problem, you shouldn’t use unofficial port or Twrp port of unofficial

View attachment 5433609View attachment 5433611

Thank you

Yes unofficial twrp toolkit can be a problem coz i used xiaomi eu rom and its working fine without any issues…unofficial port or unofficial twrp might contain some sort of viruses or malware that’s possible…and always download files from official source, developer or site.

no, but people use the twrp img posted on this forum and flash it manually instead of using that toolkit you linked, which I've never seen before until now. pretty sure the image/script included in that toolkit has been injected with malicious code.
Is there any way to scan the toolkit/image? Windows defender/malware bytes returns no threats.

Will do that.. thanks
I would strongly advice not to download anything outside xda forums. XDA had many good devs out here that had many experience to detect threats as such fraud.

I compared the TWRP.IMG with the one available and there is no difference.
fc /b twrp.img "TWRP-3.5.2-alioth-Nebrassy.img"
Comparing files twrp.img and TWRP-3.5.2-ALIOTH-NEBRASSY.IMG
FC: no differences encountered
So it has to be some other malware which has taken over your phone
The less people who use a rom or an apk the less eyes there are on it and less feedback.
Most rootkits are installed by the user...
Hi, i understood how it happened finally. No malware here. It was something in my laptop

Yes, my Google account was logged into on my pc. They somehow got access, used my card which was saved with Google payments, and used otp from my email. Scanned and cleaned pc, recovered Google account.

Virus scan did find some trojans with severe risk. I scanned with defender + offline scan + Malwarebytes. The threats could be removed and subsequent scans didn't find anything else. I don't think there's any threat anymore.

The worst ones are the ones you can't detect because there's no definition or they can evade detection. Once a hacker gains access they can download other nastier payloads. Worse if they get into the database they can implant malicious scripts.
It's one thing to find a trojan preloader that's still dormant as opposed to one that's active. The former can be safely removed, neutralizing it. The later maybe, maybe not.
If I find or suspect an active virus or rootkit, it's reload time, that day. I isolate that device and it's database from my backups until proven clean. The worst damage it can do is breach the backup databases. Not acceptable... so I nuke the load with extreme prejudice to confine the damage. Malicious scripted jpegs that damage the folder their in can be cleaned up once you delete the jpeg(s). I never had any antivirus detect them... wysiwyg. Had one on my Android about 2 years ago. Had one on XPpro about 15 years ago.
Pie and above is pretty secure unless you download or install the malware. Windows not as much... I keep my PC offline.
Never underestimate a hacker's resourcefulness, overkill is best.
