Having battery issues? - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

My battery never gave me any issues until now after flashing CM9, With CM9 the phone was flat by 5/6pm and thats with auto sync off and hardly any use at all, I got fed up with that and went back to stock however exact same thing is happening, Its now 6pm and my phones turned off after being on for 11 hours, In that 11 hours I checked Twitter 10 mins, and email a couple of times but nothing major, it was in my pocket, auto sync is off, no push emails etc.
Any ideas on what this issue is? Does the battery need calibrated again? If so how do I do this?

To calibrate, you just let your phone drain until off, wait 5 minutes for the battery to cool down, try turn it on, and if it can be turned on, wait again until it ran out of juice.
While off, charge it for 2-3 hours, but don't unplug. Boot into CWM, erase Battery Stats, boot. Then unplug.
But, honestly, I think your battery is giving up the ghost; prepare to buy a new one.

Yeah, I had issues with my battery too...coincidentally, not long after I'd flashed CM9. However I doubt it's got anything to do with CM9 as if it did, everybody on this forum would be having issues. I tried everything you have....wiping battery stats (several times), reverting back to stock etc etc etc ........
none of it helped...
Got to the stage that from FULLY charged, I could send one text and the phone would switch off.....
Got a replacement battery in the end. Went to Amazon and got an (allegedly) 1700mA battery for £5.....doesn't last any longer than the stock battery, but for £5 I ain't complaining...lol.

Ummm, no... This particular battery is properly larger, necessitating a replacement back cover, and users who have purchased the batteries all seem to be very satisfied with the resulting performance.

Right my battery seems to have sorted itself out today, Yesterday I let the phone go until it turned off, charged it over night taking it off the charger at 7am, today I checked twitter and email a few times, made a couple of calls, its now 5pm and battery is at 80%, So its back to the way it was before I started messing about with CM9, Think i'll just stay on stock now

well, there goes it..
watching movie on our wonder really sucks juice dramatically..
i, for one, 1 movie watching on my phone sucks 20-30%, not bad, as my battery really good for now..
when you use camera, video, calls, music, messaging, bluetooth, etc..i think your using phone's media..
experts on this matter will further enlighten and correct us..and i am not one..lol!
however, i am on cm9b4, while your in cm10..
tis the reason why i stick on cm9..
-salute!

I'm not an expert, but i had that problem with the media server draining battery. After some investigation i found that the media server is used always when you are using media content (duh!) such as video, mp3 whatever.
in my case the process was running and drain battery even when i was not using media, after some search i found that could be caused by some corrupt media on the sd card, no necessarily damage but the phone thinks it is. I wiped my sd card, reboot, put the media on the card again, reboot and the problem stop.
but this was my case, i don't know if it applys to you. Let the experts say something about it.

Horrible Battery Life for me

My phone has TERRIBLE battery life. In about one hour (on stanby with wifi or data on) my phone loses 10% battery without use.. Which is a 10 hour battery on stanby. I can BARELY make it through one day without my phone dying either. By the time i get home from school, my phone is down from 100% to 65-70% with VERY minimal usage. Then by 9:30pm my battery is down to 20% with moderate usage on wifi. I am running Beastmod 4.2 REMASTERED with whatever Kernal comes with it.. I have tried Juggernaut, Beastmod, Beastmod Remastered, Stock, unrooted, domination with no luck. Ive tried underclocking, over clocking, changing settings, brightness, different launchers and so forth. Still, i have no luck. Yes, i have calibrated my battery, and this is my second phone from T-Mobile (and 3rd battery) that has a short battery life. Can someone PLEASE help me with this. Thanks!
EDIT: Just typing this message i have lost 3% of my battery on wifi...

I really dont know what the general view on this is....but if you are flashing a lot you wont know the difference. You need to get through atleast a few full cycles to figure out if something has decent battery life. No ones phone is going to put out the same results. I have had a lot of bad results with ROMs people claim to be the best. Just try a rom + kernal combo, give it a week, see if things start improving, else flash something new the next weekend. Do proper wipes, restart your phone when its charged at 100% and go from there.
You leave GPS on? GPS is a drain even if you're not actively using it. Also try charging the phone to 100%, then drain the battery completely, then charge it back up to 100% with the phone off. I've found that usually greatly improves battery life.
Do a full wipe and flash macnut r1. I had similar problem as you until i flashed this rom, i think his kernel has the best batt life of them all and most stable for me. Worth a try

Try this wipe your rom clean and dont install any apps just your emails and try it for a whole day maybe an app is eating your battery in the background.

[Q] Help! Flashed Jelly Bean, down to ~6hrs Standby Battery Life

I flashed Jellybean for my gnex this last weekend, and I've noticed a severely precipitous drop in battery life (15% in 90 min, 15 min screen on). I found this yesterday when my phone went completely dead after just 6 hours on idle, despite running some pretty severe power-saving options. I can literally see the battery draining as I took the screenshots to post.
Running 4.1.1 stock, Franco Kernel Version 5 (power save powermode), 2100 mAh battery - I tried to provide as much information as I can in the screenshots. The weird thing is that none of the information stands out as an obvious power-drain, its just falling for what I believe to be no good reason.
Please help!
First of all: congrats if providing such detailed information about your battery information! (I'm being serious, not sarcastic)
Secondly, have you tried running it with WiFi only to see if there's a difference? Also, you need to go through about 2-3 charge cycles before you have a good idea of our battery range.
Also, what kernel are you using?

I'm hoping its just running it a few charge cycles fixes the problem, because my battery meter is like a countdown clock right now.

CPU Sleep
Thanks! However, I'm already running on only one core, from a setting in Franco's app.
My problem is that there doesn't seem to be anything glaring that is draining my battery. Awake time is slightly more than I'd like, but not nearly enough to drain the battery at 10% an hour with the screen off.
And for the above poster, I have not tried running it with wifi only and no mobile data - wifi at my office is spotty, and I'd like the conditions I am testing it at to try to mirror how I would normally use my phone.

hmmm... did u try replacing the battery?
Battery
No - the battery worked just fine on ICS as of last Friday (28 hours standby charge). I would hope that flashing ROMs/Kernels would not actually damage it.
Thanks for trying to help - I'm really confused since all the ratios look comparable to people who get great battery life, but for some reason, just seem to suck about 5x more battery for me, so its impossible to pinpoint one specific culprit. I thought it was a mis-calibration, but apparently that is just a myth.

Let me start by saying that I am not an expert, but the following tips helped me. I agree with the WiFi and the detail you provided was great. I see that you are running 4G, this will eat up the battery. Your ROM may have a toggle for the 4G (LTE) and 3G (CDMA). If you have WiFi available I would use that. You may want to turn off the NFC (system setting>Wireless & Networks More....) unless you use google wallet or share screen alot. Also, I had horrible results with the Facebook app running in the background, which I have taken off my phone. I set a bookmark in dolphin browser instead of using the app.
If you are not seeing any improvements with in the next few battery cycles you may try wiping the battery stats in Recovery. The first ROM I flashed from stock my battery life was all over the map and wiping battery stats helped. I ran the same Franco Kernel and was getting 2.5 -3 hrs of screen time. Hope this helps.
also, get CpuSpy from the market, and see which speeds your cpu is using (or not using).
Not that this will help software issues but Sprint is giving away a free 2100Mah extended battery with the door. You just have to pay for the shipping. No scam at all, I think they know that they have a glitchy piece of product and need to help calm us down. Just call telesales and tell them you own a Gnex.
CPU Speeds
Almost exclusively at 384 or 729 mHz, capped at 1026.

So that means that the CPU isn't going into deep sleep, which is an issue.
All I can suggest is reflash with a full wipe, and reinstall the apps you can, and slowly weed out any rogue apps that could be causing said issue.

Deep Sleep
Sorry, I meant that when awake, the vast majority of the clock speeds are 384 and 729. I am in deep sleep approximately 75% of the time.
If no solution comes up in this thread, I will try re-flashing to stock JB/stock JB kernel tomorrow night to see if it just needed a few recharge cycles to stabilize, and if not, if wiping/reinstalling helps.

Did u flash francos kernel yet ?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yes - every process/screen is drawing the typical percentage of power use (~50% screen, 8% Phone Idle, 8% cell standby), but the battery is draining 4x faster than it should. Francos app shows me running at completely standard voltage, and I'm on the powersave mode. I think it must be a battery indicator/stats issue, otherwise the proportions would be all off.

[Q] Battery Drain Issues

Okay, so I am getting pretty bad battery drain whenever I use my phone. The phone goes into deep sleep just fine, and wakelocks don't seem to be an issue. Whenever I use any app though, the battery drains very quickly. Now obviously using the device will make the battery drain faster than it would when it's asleep, but I'm talking about losing 2-3% with only playing 2 minutes of Scrabble or checking a news feed for less than 3 minutes. My screen is on half brightness, but it's only been a week since this has really been noticeable.
I'm not sure if my battery is getting worse or something (although I try to not overcharge it and let it get to around 50% which I don't see why that would be an issue) or this is just an illusion and it's been happening the whole time.
Has anyone found any solutions or ideas to help conserve battery?
I'm stock, nonrooted, running the latest update. I never have any sync or push notifications active. I keep NFC on but I've had that on since day 1 and didn't seem to be an issue before. I restrict background data for the Play Store (tried that yesterday but didn't seem to help much), brightness is always around halfway, and I am using JuiceDefender pro. I have the Amazon App Store installed which I've considered to be an issue, but haven't seen many people complain about it recently and it doesn't seem to report anything on BetterBatteryStats.
Bump? =\
I've been experiencing the same problem as you recently. I'm going to backup and format EVERYTHING and odin back to stock and see if that'll help.
I have a feeling it has something to do with my SD card.

Hmm I didn't think of that. I have an SD card as well but I've had it for quite a while so I'm not positive if that's causing it.
Tell me if ODINing it back to stock actually does something. I believe that the battery itself may be causing the issues though, but I'm not sure.
...So there's only one other person which these issues? What am I doing wrong?
I hate to keep bumping this thread but I am literally only getting 3 hours of screen on time when I'm on airplane mode and am at 20% brightness.

For the moment, my battery seems to be doing better. The only reason I wiped out my SD card was because my phone started getting hot at the bottom when listening to music from my 32GB SD card, so I thought it was some sort of corrupt file my phone kept trying to read and drained the battery

Sounds like something is eating up your battery. Try downloading BetterBatteryStats app. Fully charge the phone, unplug it and leave it for a while (about 1 hour). Then open the app to see what exactly is eating up your battery. You could post the BBS screenshots so we could help. Hope it works out for you.
EDIT: Besides that, you should post more info. Were you using the phone (playing games, browsing, videos) during those 3 hours or it was idle?
I noticed the same thing happening to me once, it turned out to be picasa trying to sync, using my google ID, but I don't use picasa. I was seeing 50-60% drain in four hours while idle. Check your sync settings.
When it happened it showed android system was using over 60%, battery.
I was having this issue. I could charge my phone to 100% unplug and go to sleep and 8 hours later it would be at like 10% i tried everything i mean everything even tried airplane mode it still drained. Put a custom jelly bean rom on it. Now my battery lasts all day. I just cant wait for

Really? I actually love jelly bean on the gsIII, but apparently people are getting horrible battery stats with the latest leak from Bell (unless you're referring to another JB ROM?). So I'm a bit sceptical with all that. I'd rather wait for the official release

For me battery has been great but a few times i noticed its gets very hot and when i checked the CPU both cores were lit up at max speed draining my battery, after some googling a found this thread which explains the gsiff daemon is the culprit after a hot reboot.
No one has found what the gsiff daemon is for or what causes the ho reboot, but the solution is just use root explorer and rename the daemon so it does not run.
Have all of you having trouble with battery drain still tried looking at the term "deep sleep"? You can check that with an app called cpu spy. If your having that issue with the phone not deep sleeping, report back and i will post some ideas.
With those who do say they have deep sleep issues, post the ROM, and kernel you are on.

so lately i noticed my battery dieing super fast. the only thing i can think of it since att expanded lte in my area i basically get lte everywhere now and since then my cell standby is at 60% or higher my phone lasts about 6 to 8 hours now its very annoying... before lte it lasted a ton longer it could be a coincidence but its very frustrating if this is the cause because its pretty ridiculous
Post some screenshots of the battery so we can see more of what's going on.
If you flashed multiple ROMs on low battery then you may need to recalibrate. I did it with my GS3 and I wish I would have known about it when I had the S and S2. Download the BatteryCalibration app from the market and follow the instructions on it. I noticed I was losing battery life bad, but after this I got it back up to stock levels which is amazing.

was using a live wallpaper that drained my battery REAL fast.
no joke, 1 minute = 1% of drain.

I have faced the similar issue as your. After 3 days of constant inspection with various apps I figured out the process causing this problem.
Go to developer options and click on show cpu usage. If the top process is "gsiff daemon" then you have found the culprit. Download system tuner and kill the process and you can see that the cpu usage will go back to normal and your phone will deep sleep afterwards.

One hour on regular battery

I must be doing either something really wrong or else...
My battery last me a little over one hour on standard battery (original rom+root) and that's me even using lean kernel. I've seen on forum some people were able to get as much as four hours of their screen why is it with my phone I'm only about to do so little?
What's the best so to see what's going on with my phone, who eats my battery, which apps are doing something that they shouldn't.
It really is killing me, I want to be able to enjoy my phone longer.

BetterBattery stats works
Settings > Battery > History details (touch the graph)
Battery shows what apps use the battery, history details shows signal and other stuff.

Yeah, over there it says that screen is used 50% of battery and it was roughly a little over one hour, I can attach screenshots if that helps..

It is normal that the screen uses a lot of juice. What is more interesting is which apps are on 2nd and 3 spot. Do post screenshots if you can.

I will post pictures later, but here is quick overview:
#1 is _ALWAYS_ : Screen
#2, #3, #4 and #5 is: Phone idle, Voice calls, Android OS, Cell standby (not in order, so i took example from several screen shots that I saved)
do you have a terrible signal where you're at? does it jump between LTE (i see you have verizon least based on your image under your name) and 3g alot?

to save power I completely switched over 3G (by turning off 4G (LTE))
on the top of that whenever I can I always switch WiFi on to switch to WiFi instead of 3G and whenever WiFi is not available I always turn it off.
and here is a kicker: I also use Ultimate Juice Defender (w/ pretty aggressive settings (turning data on only every 15 minutes)
please see attached dump from BetterBatteryStats

Why is my battery "done" ? I blame Sandy as before that it was fine, I'd easily do close to 2h of Screen time (at least 1h30m), now after Sandy due to reception that I'm getting right now I think that's why I'm getting so little now..
Seems like you got it all figured out then.

Man, I'm not from the US, but if Sandy came by my town, i guess my screen on time would be the least of my worries. Lol, can you imagine what damage it may have done (more than likely) to the cell towers and radio equipment?

it's not like Sandy moved in or anything... Sandy is already gone and people (including me) heavily rely on their phones to communicate with others and so am I, so I need my phone more then I did before and if it's dying half way through the day that's a problem for me.

Your awake / screen on ratio looks pretty nutty to me. Basically your phone was awake for 4 hours, and your screen was on for 1 hour. Titaniumbackup kept your phone awake for 38 minutes; why is that?
Sign out of any google services you don't use like Google Talk and / or Google+.
Turn off location services and only turn it on when you need to. It's easy to toggle this by placing a Location services shortcut on your homescreen. This, for me, has had the largest impact on my idle battery usage. With location on, batt would drain around 2 to 3% per hour. Now it takes 3 hours idle to take the battery down 2%.

I think Titanium Backup was doing backup and then uploading it to Dropbox (happens once or twice a week at night)
Google Talk and/or Google+ is closed (and even cleared from recent task upon completion of using them)
location service I use, I'm sharing my location with some other people, but i'll give that a shot to test it.
thank you for your suggestions)
