HELP! messed up my rooting/installing custom roms - HTC One X

Hi, I rooted my One X and installed cyanogenmod 10, but i forgot to wipe before installing it, so that messed things up pretty bad. I tried wiping using clockwork recovery and it still didn't work, then i accidentally did a factory reset in the boot menu. so i think I messed things up big time. It was running the official JB update (android 4.1.1, sense 4+)
please help me out!

Boot to recovery and redo the whole thing (reflash the ROM.zip) ??

U didnt do a nandroid backup before doing all this?

clockwerk can't find any files, i guess they are deleted by doing the bootmenu factory reset, is there a way to reflash it using my pc only?

To flash another recovery version you flash it as if your flashing a kernel ...but by typing fastboot flash recovery recovery.img....and don't forget to rename the new cwm recovery you want to flash to recovery....

so i wiped it using recovery (data wipe, cache wipe) and installed some other ROM called cleanROM (http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=289) but my phone keeps getting stuck at the HTC Quietly brilliant boot screen

Again my point. Why dont people read up before doing things.600$ Device man.Why do u wanna take ur chances.
Read up about the things u are gonna do first! :/

The stock one ......

You need to extract boot.img from rom.zip that you wanna flash.
Then put it on your fastboot folder and flash it using fastboot flash boot boot.img command. Then fastboot erase cache. Boot to recovery and flash your rom again.

And update the custom recovery, this indicates also that you might have old one !
Ow and if you want to flash files from recovery after you flashed the boot.img please UNHOOK the phone from the pc, it will see the file after doing that !!!
Update the recovery to 5.8.4.0 if you don't have that version
Then mount the sd card from recovery and copy the rom.zip
Copy the boot.img file from the rom.zip and place it in fastboot folder.
Put the phone in bootloader menu and flash the boot.img
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then go into recovery perform a factory reset and UNHOOK the cable from the phone and flash the rom.zip !

Flashed android rev hd rom 12 now in boot loop!
I followed the guide and flashed the boot.img first but keeps on boot looping. I have flashed rooms before on previous android phones so have a bit of experience. My version number starts 2.17 maybe I am missing something.
Any help is much appreciated

You need to flash the new firmware first. With that you need compatible CID.
If you don´t wanna flash the new firmware use ARHD 9.72.
Hello and thanks for the replies. I may of read the instructions wrong bit I thought it said flash boot img then run superwipe and then flash the rom from CWM. my cid is VODAP001 and wanted the jb Rom. Is 9.7.2 jb? I was thinking of going back to stock ruu but dont think it has been released yet as cannot find my version. When I rooted the phone when it was on stock I made a backup via Rom manager but even when I try to run this in CWM it states files not found!
Sorry to be a pain your help is much appreciated

Your phone is branded and therefore you cannot flash JB Sense ROMs, 9.7.2 is Ice cream sandwich.
u can have jb only when ur operator release it. what for official update from htc for ur model(cid)
now if u have backup of ur stock rom , just restore it. and if it is still bootlooping flash stock kernel modules.

thanks for your reply on this. I cannot restore my backup as when I enter CWM recovery either manually or by rom manager and locate the backup I have made it will not restore. When i try to restore it just states files not found!! I have checked on the phone SD storage and it is clearly there but for whatever reason it won't restore. Not sure what else I can do now. If I have to wait for my carrier Vodafone to release the official OTA jellybean update that's fine I will do that no problem, but how can I get back to stock rom? I have checked and there is no official RUU for my version yet so I cannot get back to stock and wait for the official OTA update even if I wanted too.
Maybe I am missing something i'm not sure but if you could help that would be much appreciated
thanks again

That's exactly what happened to me two days ago.. flashed the 12.0, then boot looped, then flashed the recovery but the stock rom boot looped too and my pc wouldn't recognize the phone so I adb pushed 9.7.2 and flashed it but it boot looped as well, so what I did was to download HTC SYNC and have the drivers, then flash boot.img first and then flash the rom, still didn't work so I tried the opposite - first flash the rom and only then flash the boot.img, and IT WORKED!!!!!

[Q] Stuck on the white htc logo :(

Hello to everyone.
I was having custom ICS rom, when I found out that there is OTA to JB for my HOX. So I reverted to stock using RUU method and got the OTA update. I had the stock JB rom. I made the nandroid backup and wanted to flash custom JB rom (ViperX Rom). I unlocked my bootloader again, got custom recovery (CWM 5.8.4.0). Then I flashed the boot.img from the rom's zip package and erased cache. I made a full wipe using CWM. Then, using recovery I flashed the custom rom (Viper). The whole process went without any problems, but after rebooting I got stuck oh the white htc logo.
Reverting to stock using my backup ended up on the white logo again. I cannot flash any rom (tried Sense and CM roms) coz every time I got that f...g white screen.
My bootloader is unlocked, hboot 1.36, S-ON model. Custom recovery (CWM 5.8.4.0). I've been trying for four days to get my HOX back to life.
Can anyone, please help me with that.
I don't know what's wrong with your phone, but if you just want to revert back to your backed up ROM, try flash boot from your backup first, and then restore backup. Or try reinstall RUU, maybe...
Die you use the right command for flashing the boot.img ?
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
and NOT
Fastboot boot boot.img ?

I tried to flash the stock boot.img before restoring backup - with no luck
I cannot reinstal RUU, coz I cannot find one, ie RUU 3.16.69.2 (if I am right).
@Mr Hofs
Yes, I used the proper command: fastboot flash boot boot.img and erased cache. It seems that I do everything right, but I still get the bootloop.
Oke, so now the bootloader is unlocked ?
Re-copy the boot.img file from the nandroid folder to the fastboot folder...just to be sure
Flash it with fastboot command and enter the recovery
Then
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced - wipe dalvik cache
Mounts & storage - format cache, data, system
Then restore the nandroid again !

Yes but the ruu is crap because you already have the 1.36 hboot. Try this

My command was fastboot flash recovery recovery.img. The file is in the fastboot folder.

[Q] a whole mess of problems..

Ok, so..my Girlfriend tried to root the phone herself and i think something went wrong...actually i know something went wrong..when i load up the Bootloader it gives me a few NO IMAGE found things on the SD card....but the real issue arises when i try to load a ROM onto the phone it will function for like 5 maybe 6 mintues then restart.
I tried to restore the phone to before roms were attempted to be installed on it, and the phone just hangs on the HTC screen and doesn't move.
I've tried installing Different Kernels using the whole fastboot flash boot boot.img method and none of the kernels i install seem to help..
I'm not 100% familiar with this phone since i myself use a S2 Skyrocket..
So my real question is..is there any way to get this phone back to square one so i can reinstall HBoot or whatever its called, or is there a way from where i'm at to stop this phone from constantly rebooting itself?
i don't think because there is no way to reinstall Hboot , only it can be done by HTC service centre but i will advice you to root it again from beginning , if your bootloader is already unlocked then try to root HOV , and after rooting i will suggest you to use PA rom with cm10 hellboy kernel

It gets about to the point where she would enter her information for account sync and then it would just reboot.

And about the CM10 thing, i was reading that CM10 doesn't work with the camera, and she needs the camera for work to send pics to her other managers
Ok,your phone is completely normal.
Now,do this in order
Put Rom and gapps in sdcard
Put the kernel in fastboot/platform-tools folder
Boot into bootloader and select fastboot.
flash kernel using the command you described in OP
Enter recovery.do a full wipe,i.e,factory reset,wipe cache,wipe.dalvik cache.also,go into mounts and storage and format every partition,except sdcard.
Then flash the Rom.zip, boot into Rom and then again into recovery and flash gapps.

Stuck on White Boot Screen flashed wrong boot.img

Appreciated any help I can get here.
I'm attempting to flash my first custom ROM by following the instructions here (http://drippler.com/updates/share/how-unlock-root-install-custom-rom-your-htc-one-x).I've got to point 5 and instead of copying the zip file and boot.img to my phone I stupidly went and carried out the 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' command first. The result is the phone just hangs on the boot screen.
I can get back into recovery OK, but after a couple of hours searching I'm struggling to see how I can resolve this. I have tried a full restore from recovery but it didn't work.
I assume I have to put the boot.img and ROM zip file back on the phone and repeat the process. I cannot find a way to enable me to do this as I cant seem to mount the phone on the PC.
Thanks in advance.
You can mount the sdcard as a usb mass storage device inside the recovery. What recovery do you have ?
You flashed the new boot.img already ? All you have to do is enter the recovery and perform a full wipe before you install the new rom. Of the rom is not on the phone sd you mount it first and copy the rom over. Then continue to install it

No I didn't transfer the boot.img file from the new ROM to the phone. I just typed 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' into the command prompt. The new boot.img file was in the fastboot folder.

Flash the above recovery, you have an old one that does not support usb mass storage !
Ow and the boot.img does not have to be on the phone, only the rom.zip to install it. The boot.img file is only flashed in fastboot as you did. No need to do anything else.
When you enter the new recovery you go to
MOUNTS & STORAGE - mount as mass storage device (most bottom option)

OK, thank you. New recovery installed, zip file transferred. Wipe cache partition & Wipe Dalvik Cache completed. Install from zip file completed. Re-boot and it still hangs.
I'm using the CM10 nightly from 17/2/2013 if this presents a problem at all?
I've also tried 'fastboot erase cache', which has no effect either.

http://db.tt/uDdWaAtH
Also wipe everything ! Also data factory reset and under mounts and storage - format cache, data, system
Otherwise it will not boot again

Appreciate you taking time to help me out. Thank you. Were still not there though, it's still hanging on the first boot screen.
The CM10 zip file is only 171MB which seems awfully small to me. I'm currently downloading the Viper Rom 3.3.7 which is 625MB. Could this be part of the issue? Am I trying to flash just an update and not full ROM?
Nope, AOSP ROMs are small in size. The zip you have is legitimate full ROM.

Thank you, that's that theory out of the window, I think this bloody phone may follow it !
Try this.....
First in recovery do
Wipe data factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced - wipe dalvik cache
Mounts and storage - format cache, data, system
Then install the rom.zip, dont reboot and install directly the gapps.zip
Then you type
Adb reboot bootloader
Flash the boot.img again (for cm10 the modded one)
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot reboot
*fingers crossed*

Also you probably want to flash a new recovery as well. Clockwork recovery has a habit of failing on one x phones. TWRP is currently the most stable recovery for One X.

It was the second thing I did! I'm now wondering why it's took me this long to finally root and install a Custom ROM on my android phone. Thanks for your help.

No problem. I had issues with CWM failing to flash correctly on the One x. I have had no problems with TWRP. I have heard dozens of complaints about CWM in a few different phones especially the One x.
BTW I respond slow because I work for a living.

But you flash the boot.img from computer and after this from recovery you must wipe and flash the rom. First flash BOOT.IMG after this go in recovery and flash the rom and gapps. When you use recovery you don't need computer
