[Q] Help Unbricking (Soft Brick) T-989 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Ahoy XDA!
So I'm an avid flasher and have lots of experience with ROMS/Radios/Kernels etc. however, for the life of me, I can't figure out what's going on.
I have a T-989 that I had AOSP JB Rom on. I just purchased another phone and was restoring to stock for sale. I followed instructions for ODIN with the original MD5 file however, it failed and now the phone is stuck saying
"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again."
I've tried many Stock builds with ODIN but none of them are wanting to complete. There are a few that complete but won't reboot the phone. When I manually reboot it brings the same screen.
Any help would really be appreciated. If you need more info just let me know.

No help? Please...

Try connecting to kies and let it restore the phone.

Already figured it out. Flashed CWM and restored from a Nandroid backup.

Help with brick

I was trying to flash my phone (AT&T SGS3) back to stock today using this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
While I was downloading, I accidentally kicked the usb cable out of the phone.
I immediately pulled the battery and restarted the process.
Odin said it succeeded but when I boot I get stuck on a screen where it just says samsung. Like the first screen you see on boot but it happens a second time after the galaxy s logo and the at&t logo.
I don't know how to fix this. Can someone please help?
Also I was going to try the not rooted stock roms from this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737848
But the downloads don't seem to be working. Anyone know where I can download the stock roms?

Maybe try going into recovery mode and do a factory wipe there.
That worked. Thank you, you just saved me in a big way
Glad it worked. Happened to me too. From what I learned when changing ROM types tw-> aosp you need to wipe data.

Solution (Bricked Phone) Firmware upgrade encountered an issue.

Hello everybody
Like a lot of you I download a lot of custom ROMS and every once in a while you hit a bump in a curve..
I got thrown down a hill, and long story short, I have had the MACKS ROM Allstar installed on my Sprint Note 2.
That caused a few probems, like constantly asking me to update, then I would update and reboot into recovery it WOULD NOT flash any rom, any zip file. no backups. NOTHING.
I have seen a lot of people have this issue, and when that happens as you all know DO NOT try to go back to the stock firmware sing ODIN
I did this and came up with a bricked phone that would not turn on, would not even go into recovery. Iw would just say
"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again"
I was up all night trying to unbrick my phone and fount there was really no solution to my problem but to use ODIN, yet ODIN caused this problem, so what do I do??? I kept trying. And eventually I found the solution!!!!
Enough ranting, here is how to fix your phone!!!
First you need to download the oneclick odin recovery tool. I can't create links because I am a new member, so you can just google
"SPH-L900 MA7"
and the result is right there on the top
It taked about 20 minutes to download but when it is finished you can use it just like you would use ODIN
Reboot into download mode and just click start after your device is recognized.
If you have any further questions just leave a comment or PM me, I would be glad to help!
This solution may also be used if you are having trouble flashing zip files through recovery
You may have to re install TWRP using odin though

[Q] Can't Re-install Android to Galaxy S III

Hey everyone. I'm having problems with my Galaxy S III/SGH-I747. I was having problems with it shutting off randomly. I didn't start having this problem until I got the Android 4.1.2 update. I did a factory reset a few times and that didnt fix it. So I decided to wipe it completely and flash either 4.0.4 or 4.1.1 back on it. Something went wrong during that process and it failed. Now, I start it up, and it just says "Firmware Recovery Interrupted". No It won't let me do anything. I've tried the Emergency Firmware Recovery Tool with the Samsung Kies software, and it fails during that. I tried flashing the stock ROM again, and it fails. I even Rooted it, and flashed ClockworkModRecovery and tried installing a custom ROM. It failed during those. So I'm really stuck. Is there ANYthing I can do to fix this? If so, I'd really appreciate you sharing it with me. Lolz.
Thank you in Advance.
P.S. The picture below says, "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."

[Q] Sprint Galaxy Note II “Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recov

Hey guys, I'm in a bit of a jam, nothing new, but this time I cant figure it out. I installed a popular rom CM10.2. And it worked, after using it for a while I decided I wanted to go back to stock. I attempted to use Odin 3.06 with SPH-L900_L900VPALJ1_L900VPALJ1_L900SPTALJ1.tar.md5
I hit start and boot cache radio then gets to recovery and fails. Now my note II is wont boot and has “Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again“ I tried newer versions of odin with no luck. I tried to reinstalI the popular rom, and the installer didnt detect my device, odin does detect my device.. And Kies says "The Connected Device is not supported by Kies 3. I dont know what else to do
Options?
Is there any other files I can try to use with odin, just because SPH-L900_L900VPALJ1_L900VPALJ1_L900SPTALJ1.tar.md5 fails, maybe another might work? What else can I try? Please someone help me, I just have to buy a replacement?

[Q] Bootloader Update/KitKat Update screwed up everything!

I am desperately crying for help here!
I was using cm-10.2 with twrp 2.6, data encrypted.
Now I upgraded to cm-11 and before I needed to upgrade the boot. Now:
1.) I suddenly do not have any service! What can that be? The boot upgrade or cm-11?
2.) I wanted to revert to my cm-10 nandroid upgrade. However, twrp2 always says "Password failed, Please try again". That's impossible it's the correct password! I can start the normal system with the identical password and it used to work always!
So I have a broken phone currently
Can anyone help me out?
Something similar happened to me earlier. Idk if this could be helpful.. I had a encrypted I747 and i flashed CM 10.1 on it, and phone was dead. However,I could go to download mode. So i Odin back to stock att rom. Even after odin i have problem booting because of my earlier encryption, so i factory rested in recovery. it worked for me. But i am not sure, if u have updated to 4.3 bootloader then running odin will brick ur phone.
Did you flash a compatible modem?
