I am having an issue with my epic 4g touch. The phone is confusing the internal memory and the external sd card. So when I download something it ends up going into the internal from music to apps. In the settings/storage it says I have things on my sd card but if I go to it in root explorer, it shows nothing. My problem is that when I flash a new rom and do a nandroid backup, the backup disappears on me. I will put the backup on the sd card but when I go back to it, it's gone. It doesn't show up on the internal either. The last time I flashed a rom I got stuck with no backup. Needless to say I am a little scared to try again. It has done this with two separate sd cards. Please help? I am confused. Does anyone else have this problem?
I have had some similar issues. For me it doesn't acknowledge my external sd card alot of times lately.

Have you tried removing and formatting the MicroSD card through Windows?
(Or mount as USB in FI03 and format that way)
Hi,
I'm trying to swap the internal and external sd-card in probam4 but changing the vsold-file as well another tool from play-store failed (got the internal Memory as internal and external).
Anyone tried this already with success? If yes - how to do it?
Thanks,
Stefan

Also this works best with redpil kernal

Doesn't work as expected
Hi,
thanks for the hint. I tried to flash the kernel as well as the mod.
Now the internal as well as the external card is pointing to the external sd card. With other tools I had a similar effect but there both where pointing to the internal card.
Any idea how I can solve this?
Thanks!
Stefan
Mine is working fine.Follow op step by step
Script for ProBAM 4
Hi,
I had to change the generated script a bit and now it works. If someone else has the same trouble please replace the file in /etc/init.d with the attached one (after unpacking)..
As ever - do it at your own risk and create a backup before replacing the file.
Best Regards,
Stefan
So I have a 64gb memory card but I noticed that it's not recognised by all apps. However I can navigate to it manually. I tried to put a 2gb memory card in earlier and it seems to work as expected. Have anyone else noticed anything quirky like that? Does anyone know of a fix or method to trouble shoot the issue?

Maybe formatting your card will solve the problem
External SD Card Fix
If you want to be able to have apps write to your external SD card you need to make some changes to the PLATFORM.XML file. I had to do this to get Titanium Backup to be able to write to the external card instead of the internal memory. See link. I have root and am guessing you need root for this. There may be some apps out there that will also help you out.

That seems to have fixed the issue, thanks.
Hi!
I allow myself to open this post because I would like to use my 128GB SDcard as the Internal memory of M8.
Indeed, the "16GB" default storage is too little and some applications (games) are litteraly storage eaters and don't have the feature to move their data to the sdcard.
So, I have see that this trick can be done by modifying the vold.fstab but on the M8 I can't find this file (only a file named fstab.qcom).
Have anyone tried to do this thing and how can it be done?
Thanks in advance!
I'm not sure what you are trying to do is possible... But you could try something like this to store some apps and Games on the external sd...

Or app2sd, search on it, there's many threads on it and variations.
Hope that helps somewhat!
(think you need root for anything like this too)
Hi Darth,
Thanks for the advice
But as I have see articles like here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2492952
I wondered if something similar can be done on the M8.
It can be useful for ROM like CM12 and using the HTC Camera (which one store the pictures taken on the internal memory).

Well, I'm not personally aware of how to make the external sd the internal one across the board.... But with pics, I could have sworn my phone asked me if I wanted to keep pics on external sd when I had one inserted? Maybe that doesn't happen on CM?
I am running LD with no problems, very smooth. But something is up with the portion and/or adaptive storage settings, because every time I try and flash something I have an extremely challenging time trying to find the files in question. For example, Gapps had the latest update, and when I reboot to recovery to flash it I can't find the file. I look in the basic directories (sdcard\folder and storage\folder) and there's nothing there. But when I'm using an app like RootBrowser it's right where it's supposed to be (for me that's sdcard\tmp directory). I'd rather not reformat my card to portable storage, but if someone could guide me how to best rectify the problem without losing all my SD data I'd really appreciate it.
any solution yet?
Are you referring to 'shared' internal storage? Where you've combined the internal storage with the sdcard storage? If so then read this post, it was my solution and has worked well through several updates.
