NFC issues with 4.2.1 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I just noticed that my NFC is not working, and I can't turn it on. Does anyone else have this problem?
I know it was working just fine on 4.2.

Tried a reboot?
And are you sure you're using a battery that supports NFC?
You could also try reinstalling the firmware as a last resort.

I tried reboot, clearing out caches, fixing permissions, and even wiping battery data.
I did get a spare battery just recently, but both of them are stock Samsung batteries that came with the phone. Also, it doesn't matter what battery I use.

Why dont you flash some other ROM/kernel to see is it a software or hardware issue?

i dont have any issues with NFC...i use it daily with NFC chips.
unfortunately i have heard of this problem before (as well as not being able to turn on bluetooth) and the only fix was a factory reset or a flashing the stock image.

I am running rooted stock ROM.

Now it also drains my battery

Tried couple of times, no luck.
In order to stop drain, I deleted nfc app from system folder, and it looks like it helped.

[Q] Weird thing happening with some apps on 4.0.2 for me

I noticed with some apps that I download on 4.0.2 I get this popping up:

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

}
I know its a 4.0.2 issue because I was on a 4.0.3 rom before with the nexus and the apps in question never happened before, and then went to stock 4.0.2. I also have a captivate that has a 4.0.3 rom on it and the actual app opens perfectly.
So is this happening to anybody else or know how to fix it?

Uncheck force gpu rendering in development settings.

Thanks! I completely forgot that I had that on. That did the trick. If you dont mind me asking, what is it about gpu rendering that makes some apps go like that?

I think it's because the apps doesn't support GPU rendering i believe. Not sure about that though (i'm no developer).

I rarely spend time in that section of this forum. So I was not aware.
Yup, you will
But, here's a tip, from me. Flash everything manually, and DON'T flash userdata.img!!!!
Or recovery.img!
Should you flash those, aswell, you would perform a factory reset/wipe data.
So, leave those two, as they are...

Oh I see. Thanks for the tip.
I plan to flash using the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit and later unlock and root it again.

Kindle fire 2 massive battery drain "cell standby"

Yesterday i installed battery stats to see why my kf2 was loosing around 25% of the battery at night...
I found this:

I was searching and found that some galaxy s3 users experience the same issue, they flashed a .zip file to fix it...
Should i flash that file or there is another method for the kf2???
no way, don't flash any zip that is not made for your device!!! And make a nandroid backup before modding anything

There is an option, somewhere in the settings, to disable data. I don't remember where offhand, but I know it's there.

Browser issue on more than one ROM?

I've tried slimkat stable 6 and cm 11 m8 and I'm getting the same browser error on both ROMs. For each install I formatted every single partition and did a clean install through adb push. I've asked on both forums and nobody has an answer, and this issue prevents me from opening gmail thumbnails or viewing images. I heard it had something to do with SSL? I tried disabling browser, reenabling, clearing data, rebooting etc etc but nothing is working! Could someone please help?

Dont know if I can help much as im not very familiar with cm. But have you tried an alternative browser from the play store? Does it happen on mobile data and wifi?
Id flash the stock firmware via Odin and test there. If it still happens then, its probably not the rom, but more likely to be a network problem.
I'm using a different browser, they work fine but apps like gmail use the stock browser to view images and such.
Im not real sure then....Hopefully someone who knows cm better than me will have some thoughts to share.
I did see another user with a similar problem earlier. I think it was in the AT&T forums. If I find it again ill post the link so you can monitor that thread for help too.
Heres the thread I mentioned earlier.

No answers there yet either, but hopefully if a solution is found there it'll help you here as well.
Its not the exact same error, but seems to be similar enough to watch. Hope it ends up helping...

Kernal (Android OS) Battery Drain

Hello
Just bought the htc m8 a month ago and has been an amazing phone. Except for the past few days the battery has started to drain way faster without any use. I installed gsam battery stats and added some screen shots.. Any help would be appreciated.

What programs are you install recently? Maybe problem is in one of them? Try to delete programs one for another which were installed recently.
But based on your screenshots (and assuming) you do use your phone from time to time than I think its fine
But do you have a custom kernel installed? If yes, have you tried to turn off pocket protection? It may help
Well i found the source of my problem. It was HTC Checkin Service that was draining my battery. Anybody know what i can do about this to fix problem? I tried greenify but that didnt work.

Try disabling the service, if ca't maybe freeze it using titanium backup?
But I think that should be some rogue app that's trying to make use of that service but I'm not very sure. I don't have that issue on sense based rom nor stock at all
