[ROM][4.2.2]CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightly builds - Galaxy Tab Android Development

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

Reporting Bugs
You are allowed to report bugs only in this thread. Note that this is a preview release and non-device specific bugs will not be accepted. Before reporting a bug, please make sure you are running as stock as possible. This means no custom kernel, no custom framework modification, etc. If you are using any of the above modifications, please flash the rom again to get rid of the modifications before reporting.
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved.
Use these commands to get a logcat and dmesg
Code:
adb root
adb logcat > logcat.txt (wait for a few seconds then press Ctrl + C)
adb shell dmesg > dmesg.txt

12-12 2:10 AM CST: Added logcat/dmesg's in relation to the Google Now/Sound Recorder**
BACON!
So far:
Not working:
-Bluetooth | Known 12-6-2012
-Automatic Backlight | Known since CM9
-Torch aka flashlight | Works, Extreme enable delay, 3-10 sec
-Camera/Video | Auto Flash broken, no resolution/advanced options
-Manual Rotation/Orientation reverse | landscape rotation is reversed/wrong, 270 instead of 90
Working:
+Auto Rotation | another poster said it didn't work, but it works for me
+Clock | another poster said it didnt work, but it works for me
+Market+Google Stuff | download and install of an App was successful + run
+Camera/Video | Front+Back regular pictures + manual flash
Notes:
~Boot Animation is Landscape only | Known 12-6-2012
~Everything I was able to test in 20min aside from the above, worked fine
~Its been a minor irritant since CM9, but the Galaxy Tab settings always has TV out as PAL***
~While I do not have service currently, It does show signal strength, and does show carrier info
*first post should be updated to note if doing the dmesg command on the device it should be dmesg > sdcard/dmesg.txt
**It doesnt always happen using Sound Recorder, but so far, each time I have launched Google Search (aka Google Now) moments after launch when it seems like its initiating, it locks up the tablet, there was one time I was able to use it, but I havent been able to replicate that good luck all day/night last night attached is the error's from logcat (I didnt see anything) and the 3 dmesg's I tried to capture after the device rebooted from the crash/shutdown
***I have the P1C or the CDMA variant, the Verizon Galaxy Tab, AFAIK, its a US device, always NTSC never PAL, am curious to know if the default can be changed PER device/model, if not, I understand seeing as the forums at least seem to be devoid of many other CDMA users vs GSM users.

So far
WORKING:
-WiFi: WPA2 seems to be not supported or my channel has been setted up wrong! (i cant contect to my wlan )
-Auto Rotation
-GPS
-Mobile Data (RIL)
-Display Rendering
-3D (played GTA III on it, works very well)
-Clock works fine
-Camera (no flashlight -.-)
-Gollum
-Clock works
Thats all so far

I downloaded the rom and gapps about an hour and a half already and must say it responds great and its quick with no lags at all, however i cant figure out where to find the connection to tap when I plug my USB into the computer, usually a notification pops up up top and I would then pull down the notification page but its not being recognized when i connect, and ideas why, i re wiped and flashed cause i had a lil problem with the google page being upside down but that got fixed when I re flashed my device. any help will be appreciated, and thanks again to every involved with the rom for keeping the hope alive...

I have not found rotation controls anywhere I looked, only Auto rotate and locked (toggle)... HOWEVER, that doesn't meant they aren't there, it also doesn't mean they are... I didnt know the new trick to get the Developer/Performance options in settings, so I will wait for the official word!
Speaking of rotation, with CM10.1, it seems that the rotation option in many programs flips portrait in the reverse direction! In CM10 (last I used was CM10 nightly 12-2-2012, and its a default setting I change upon each fresh wipe), when I set my launcher to portrait only, it was fine and the portrait direction was level to where my home/back/search/menu buttons where on the right, which is right as it should be (har har?), now when I set the option for Portrait mode in my launcher its flipped upside down with my controls on the left hand side (might be good for the lefty's)!
Ill add that to my earlier post as well, but Ill do it in the morning when I lookup what the orientation degrees are so as not to make an even further fool out of myself!

okay, so anyone know how to open recent apps? because i tried to press home button, but it doesn't show anything expect my tab keep buzzing.
thanks!

Some applications turn bottoms up after starting.

Great great job!!!!
I'm now downloading it. You guys really ROCK! You are keeping P1000 so alive.

So thankful to CDESAI. However, hopefully in the next build or so we can now enable soft buttons navbar.

Nice ROM!!
Cdesai,
The ROM is excellent for a experimental release..
There are just small adjust to do...
List of Bugs:
- Bluetooth, as you informed before.
- Panorama photo show revert (mirror) image.
- I didn't found the Recent apps buttons option.
- Rotation option in many programs flips portrait in the reverse direction (as informed for @Hammerfest)
- Here doesn't mount USB automatic (i use a app and its works, normally)
- I cannot set a grid apps correctly.
All the rest works fine!!
It is very smooth..
Congratulations for all devs.:good:

Thx to all developers that did the whole work and give us the chance to use android as a main OS on non supported HTC devices especialy phhusson, enatefox, dzo, zenulator, Chamonix, Stinebd, Makkonen, MrPippy, cr2, Markinus, Babijoe and anyone else who contribute to get this so far
Thx to chkms, davidebeatrice, elroy944, kstephens98, Reefermattness, DracoLX for helping Klinux correct bugs.
This is from XDA and for XDA so fell free to mod it, or ask for help.
As I'm not a developer I did what I could to have a daily usable OS, so be indulgent

-wifi still don't work for me test please and post feedback
i dont see any point on copying another thread
I have the espresso build linked on my thread and reading so far its exactly the same as the original
Just dont want to waste xda precious bandwidth and space
But if this is then made to focus on raph/diam then awesome
It's a thread for VGA devices, since the Sense and so on doesn't work on 240DPI by some unknown reason, so this is a 240DPI support thread
I'd rather just read the original thread and get all the updates and comments straight from the source.
However, discussing raph/diam issues without poluting the original thread has its uses
With the latest setup I do not have WIFI/keyboard backlight. Anyone else have them working/not working?
It's working for me
Though I have a RAPH100..
But changing the backlight should work, It's in "Settings->Sound And Display->Screen brightness/backlight" then uncheck auto adjust backlight
hmm, the keyboard is only quarter of screen on my touchpro? is there any answer for this?
Yea.. This is the problem I'm mentioning with the Sense UI..
Though there should be a better keyboard in the AndroidApps folder
Really like this build, but still have some issues:
1. Backlight keeps dimming, even after disabling Auto in settings.
2. Unable to use market place or sync with Google Contacts.
3. Some screens do not layout correctly (night clock/clock/ and on screen keyboard)
4. On screen keyboard apears sluggish at times, but physical keyboard works good
Thanx for the feedback!
That Market and Google contacts issue is beeing worked on
And that not layout correctly is because the HTC apps and Widgets are lower resolution (We're looking for a solution on getting the High resolution apps working )

Thanks for the update. You guys are doing great work.
exchange feature set was increased from eclair.. i like! i also concur the issues with the lowres..
seems there is a latency issue from boot to working data connection. i think i waited about 5 minutes before it was able to establish one. this existed on eclair as well.
on a side note i need to get myself a raphael for dev, and then dig in to getting the kernel to work with all features supported.. been a while since i have done some kernel development, but definitely worth the cause.
anyone know where to get a cheap gsm raphael?
I can't access the settings.
every times I want to change the setting, it always tells me error and to force close android setting.
is it know issue?
AFAIK HTC Tatoo have 2.8 VGA screen so i think we need to use some senseui files from tatoo

Work in Progress
Please make sure you have backups for anything you don't want to lose.
Caution is advised. No promises this will not eat your device and take over your home.
Google apps are not official, this is a community hack, we have tested all apps but you could still encounter issues.
This is a preview of what is to come. we are working hard to tame 4.2, which brought significant changes and bugs.
Do not ask about CyanogenMod features. We will add more features as we develop version 3.x, and we have a 100% stable base.
If you have an issue please make sure it is repeatable, capture logcat/dmesg, etc and post to pastebin or similar.
Installation
Update your recovery to the latest version. Pre 4.2 recoveries can mess up your sd card/storage. We recommend TWRP.
Download pa google apps: http://d-h.st/Do8 Updated 15-JUL-2013
Download rom: http://d-h.st/7GF Updated 19-JUL-2013
Follow PA on Google+ for changes and other info
Perform a factory reset in recovery, unless you are already on PA 2.99+
Flash ROM first, then gapps
Wipe dalvik & cache
Reboot and wait, first bootup can take a little time
Enter your Google account info, press home when you encounter the black screen
Please do not restore system apps, system data and Google apps. This can cause bootloops and other problems due to mismatches coming from CM to AOSP and moving from Android version 4.1.2 to 4.2
Features
Hybrid engine ported, Per App DPI and Per App Layout
Tablet UI back from the dead
Per app color
Quicksettings -> Quicktoggles (first draft, more to follow)
New recents implementation
We fixed the aosp lag in the recents view, well, most of it
New SystemUI Icons that can cope with transparent bars, thanks go to John Xionidis
See through Lockscreen is back
Transparent bars + Launcher2 modified to cope with it
4.2 Walls and Sounds
Google stock apps
Extended Desktop
PER-APP-DPI/LAYOUT
This is not tablet mode! Hybrid engine allows you to target apps individually. You get to pick their actual layouts which can tranform content drastically. Keep in mind, this has nothing to do with build.prop hacks or DPI changes. We list all layouts an app brings, you choose one, its as easy as that. It does not matter if your device runs itself in Phone-, Phablet or Tablet-UI, your apps will always look as you like. On top of that you can scale apps, to fit your screen, that way you can even bring full fledged tablet apps and make them run perfectly. Nothing will break, nothing will shrink, your market will be fine. Additionally we have rewritten many parts of the android framework and fixed countless of AOSP bugs to make way for these modifications - our "tablet mode" runs better on a phone than on a real tablet, that is guaranteed.
PER-APP-COLOR
ParanoidAndroid's newest invention. Define apps in your regular hybrid panel. See your phone fade into the color definition of your current app, press home or go elsewhere and it fades back. Create as many combinations you like, you can even dabble with opacity. This feature is made possible by our hybrid engine, which is unique to this rom.

Smooth as butter will report back with any bugs' but as of now amazing.. Thanks!
Update: keyboard gets cut off on almost every setting, and there is a line on top op every screen.
Tomorrow I will give it a whirl. I am currently running PA on my GS2 (Epic 4G Touch) so I'm familiar with your teams work
Downloading now, will report back with results and bugs.
*edit
-TabletUI (small and medium) is not working for me.
-Changing DPI through interface and then choosing default theme through Launch doesn't change the DPI to what it's supposed to be (listed in different workspace modes)
custom DPI (what you choose through the slider) remains to what you set it even after applying and rebooting a default launch workspace (phablet, tabletui, tabletuiMedium) N10
-Can't change size of font/dpi in System UI so everything is extremely tiny
-Changing workspace made my dock move to the right hand side of the screen (Using Nova Launcher Prime) and changing workspace back doesn't bring it back so dock is now permanently moved to the right side and can't get it back to the bottom.
That's about all I can report back for now. Going back to stock ROM for now.
Ill be downloading this in the morning
Drop downs are miniscule. Can't fix it in settings either.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 2
Giving to give this a try now. I have PA on my Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus so nice to see it for the N10.
Sounds like i still need to do a little work on the configuration for the N10, due to some of the sizing issues being reported.
I will try and get an update out tomorrow with better values. Sorry for the inconvenience, it's a bit of a challenge without having the device.
In the meantime, you can try swapping out the configuration file attached below.
Extract the files from preferences.zip into /system/etc/paranoid/preferences/
Extract the files from config.zip into /system/etc/paranoid/
This should provide more reasonable settings based on the N10 300dpi screen.
great stuff here. I'll definitely be stalking this thread for awhile.

Did the above and the sizing issue is MUCH better. I have all my apps installed and setup and will be giving it a good test. So far seems satble. I got one random reboot after I downloaded all my applications from the PlayStore but been fine since.
Here is one minor issue I noticed. I was in the notification light settings and adding applications and some of the application sizes are very different. Here is some I'm seeing...

Thank god for paranoidandroid! If I had to use "phablet" mode much longer and I think I would have gone nuts!
Thank you for making this available, it is working great so far. I only wish that the app drawer button wasn't in the middle of the screen, but great work so far. Please keep going!

Finally...tabs for threads!
Excited to try this. Will check back with any bugs I find.
Thanks for sharing dev.
Edit. So far seems pretty stable for me.
Will keep you posted.
Thank you, good job so far everything is working fine (Т999)
Can we flash this on AT&T S3 after changing the build.prop?

You can have multiple threads, that is what is followed mostly in xda.. Slim have 3 threads 4.1.2, 4.2.2 and 4.3.. Sometimes people prefer old version and want to share experience with others..

I had the same problem. I fixed it by.
1 connect as usual enter your 0000 let it try to connect.
[Make sure both options are selected]
2 now go to Bluetooth settings and forget network.
3 turn off Bluetooth receiver.
4 restart receiver.
5 go back to setting and choose the receiver.
Hope this helps.
I did find Bluetooth to skip now and again.
May take a bit to connect on a2dp
Edit.
May have to restart device also...

Yep. Sucks it didn't work.
Found a couple things myself.
Halo functions for me are buggy.
I'm assuming its paranoid android related.
Not a big fan anyway.
Pie is working
Duel pane works text is cut but not a big deal
For some strange reason my custom theme seems to revert back to system.
4.3 will only get better
As far as the calls' WiFi' and general setting ROM is stable.
Battery life has been around 8 to 10 hrs with moderate use.
Couple questions:
how do you make screenshot?
Also, I fully charged battery before going to sleep and disconnected the charger. After 8.5 hours I got only 76% of charge left. Google services took 65% of all charges, cpu total 15min, keep awake 8.5 hours. So looks like it never went to sleep mode.
Any suggestions?

any hard core candy crushers out there wana test a beta for me and i mean hard core candy crusher someone who can make this beta break i want you to try and make candy crush force close pm me im only accepting one person thank you
Been using this for a few days with no issues! I think this is the best release I've ran so far on this device. I love the 4.3 buttery feel and really like the HellFire Interface settings layout, Thanks! Only thing i would change; The app menu button on the homescreen was replaced with the hellfire logo, but looks low resolution. I use Buzz launcher anyway but thought I would give my personal purely aesthetic opinion. Great work!
Thanks for the great rom! I was just wondering if anyone else experienced a similar problem where it says that my wifi is running the whole day (as noted in my battery settings), even though it's not? I'm not sure if this affects battery life either since my wifi is actually not on...

In regards to your screenshot inquiry. Press volume down + the power button at the same time and that should do the trick
Wired Headset issue....
When using the factory stock wired headset with the phone the button on the headset that would normally allow me to hang up the phone does not seem to function in a call. I have to resort to opening up the calling screen and hanging up from there...
Has anyone else seen this issue??
will not finish loading
My Phone boots and I get the HellFire with a spinning wheel and it never ends. I waited for 30 mins. Anyone else have this issue?

Also, the nightlies support LVM for partition remapping, which allows the two internal data partitions (/sdcard and /data) to be merged into one that uses emulated storage for /sdcard (Android's standard method for ICS and later). Details can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55081626&postcount=546 . LVM is significantly safer than other partition remapping solutions as it does not actually alter the underlying partition table. As a result, switching layouts is MUCH faster than methods which remap the partition table, and switching layouts is more reliable and doesn't fail in strange and difficult-to-repair ways (such as the frequent failures of another solution that can be seen in the ColorOS 2.0.2i beta thread). There's a good chance Oppo will be switching over to this method with a future ColorOS release, especially after their experiences with 2.0.2
For historical reference, I will leave the pre-nightly test builds in the Downloads section of this thread. However, these are now obsolete.
Gapps:

Omni only supports TWRP recovery, use any alternate recovery at your own risk. Official TWRP for this device is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2717916
Anyone flashing this should know the usual installation drill... Flash in recovery, flash gapps, wipe data/factory reset. If you don't know how to do these things, this package is not yet ready for users like you.
Thanks go to the following people for their help during bringup:

Current status as of 05/20/2014:
GPS works
Wifi works
Cellular radio works (data and voice calls)
Basic camera/camcorder functions work
Bluetooth works (tested with Google Glass and an OBDKey)
Sensors work (except for Google Camera Photosphere - see below)
Audio is flaky - Mic does not work in speakerphone calls (earpiece only) and headsets with microphones cause the audio HAL to barf. There are probably a number of other use cases where audio doesn't work well. Confirmed working are Google Play Music, Google Maps, earpiece calls, Bluetooth calls via Google Glass (Mic in speakerphone/headphones may be fixed in the 5/30 build - won't test until tomorrow.)
Not yet implemented (need to get the basics done first, these shouldn't be too hard since maxwen did them all on N1)
Screen-off gestures for music
"Hey, Snapdragon" voice wakeup - gotta talk to xplodwild about this
Superzoom mode (I'm about halfway there, it's in the 5/30 build but crashes when you take a shot, so effectively isn't really there...)
Known issues:
Rare spontaneous reboots due to the WCNSS firmware crashing (1-2 times/week for me)
Magnetometer (compass) gets "Stuck" if you use Google Camera
LPM (charging when device is off) is broken - device may charge but screen gets stuck on at the Oppo logo. (may sometimes happen when rebooting on charger)
Woot!
Here we go!

You can use it freely... or trash it quickly !
Does VOCC Charging works now?
Also, 3-ring headsets do not work (ie like the headset that came in the box).
Great work guys... Running super for an alpha.
There's a typo, it's build in may, not april :good:

It's in-kernel, it's pretty much impossible to get a device with working charging without VOOC.

Since 7a also use F3 for double tap it should be as easy as adding
<bool name="config_offscreenGestureSupport">true</bool>
to framework overlay
whats also the same is circle -> F4
the rest (F5 - F9) is different to the other oppos - actually we might need to filter them
out at the moment until we add support in the framework for them

BTW, what was the story behind https://github.com/omnirom/android_...mmit/0f6126a18e85e254d15421751abe78939beab1fd - were you getting a bunch of input event spam waking up the device during suspend? That's a problem I'm periodically seeing on this device.

Thats a little help to the "ear opening notification bar on call problem"
on the F5 it can take up to 500ms from screen off because of proxy
sensor until TS suspend is done - this filters out events during that time.
Its kinda hacky and doesnt solve the issue all the time but
better then before and little effort and risk.
We dont have the issue on the N1

Wasn't that a different patch?
I'm seeing a problem where the device gets stuck wakelocked processing lots of input event spam from somewhere, or it's not properly flushing the key event queue. It's intermittent - sometimes it's absolutely fine, other times it just goes nuts.

This one is actually obsolete AFAIKS since there is a check

Hard to believe the initial post of no known issues with the first build but if it's true then that's gorgeous.
Well it's gorgeous either way.
Will give this and omni a test run later today.
Can't wait actually... Given the mediocre setup we have been presented with coloros.

It works pretty well so far! Just played around with it for half an hour.
Two things I noticed: The camera does not go into landscape mode. And the Storage is still divided into two partitions (like ColorOS) Is it possible to unite them into one?
Awesome work so far!
The only issue i noticed in short test time, double tap to wake doenst work as wrote here before, double tap to sleep work
And one important question for me: Does the modem use Band 20 for LTE? I cant test it at that moment.
And it seems to be that fast charging works too. But iam not sure, because i charge at 36%, after 20 min. it was at 42% and 30 min later it was at 96%. There was a big jump in charging in 30 min.

will reply to this how I did over at oppo forums..
This is the way it is in colorOS as well I believe. We could have asked everyone to re-partition their internal sdcard but that's retarded. for one.. you would lose your pictures etc etc that you have taken using COS..

You have been on ColorOS haven't you...?
Then you probably know the issues it has...
And now we got source-baked roms...
FOR CHRISTS SAKE DO YOU REALLY THINK ANYONES GOING BACK TO THAT HELLHOLE?! :silly:
But no, seriously. ColorOS is in the past for me one way or another, I gave it a chance, it failed. Hell even the CM11s port does a way better job at handling this device than ColorOS does.
So if I leave the old system behind, why not get the most of the "new" system anyway?
Part of that would be unified partition layout if you ask me.

I see no reason why it can't be done as a optional x-plattform feature.
LVM2 works via loopfiles just as much as it does via physical devices, make your script format /data and /internal_sd if you want and place 2 LVM loopfiles into both folders, taking up the device space there.
Then on bootup simply check whether the loopfiles exist or not, if they do bring up the volumegroup and mount the unified storage, if not go with the convential setup.

Then on bootup simply check whether the loopfiles exist or not, if they do bring up the volumegroup and mount the unified storage, if not go with the convential setup.
