And probably you are gonna back it up with cwm 5.8.4.0 so it will backup your custom cwm recovery and not the original stock recovery ! This has no use at all

thanx but...

Same as mine, WWE Europe I guess.
If it was me, I'd try this: RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.17.401.2_Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_274900_signed.exe
Others with 2.17.401.x (401 for Europe, I guess again ) are updates as it seems from filenames.

I have to check the dock mode on this version because it isn't working on JB.
I have dock HTC CR S650
But to help you out ....
Get a 2.17.401 nandroid backup here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
Does not matter which one .....
Flash the boot.img from the nandroid, make a full wipe in the recovery and restore the nandroid ...
After that you flash back the stock 2.17 recovery
https://www.dropbox.com/s/wbav46spkbznovp/stock recovery 2.17.img
Then you can also update to 3.14 and again to 3.18 if you wish

Damn I don't understand it
If I don't flash this file I can't update this version to the newest right?
You want to restore a 2.17 based ics rom. That's done with the custom recovery .... Then you can test the dock. But lets say its the same as in JB and you decide you want to go back to stock JB....only then you flash the stock recovery and update with official ota from within the phone - settings - about - software updates

download firmware from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376 (it's the first one) for your cid! I assumed that you need backup, not recovery.img! I just woke up flash via fastboot command!
Sorry for wrong information for firmware from nandroid backups, i ment from stock OTA files matching your CID and main version or from link with only firmware version from OTA (Thanks again Mr Hofs) - morning isn't my part of day
Thanks!
You need the 3.14 stock recovery. Its not updated ....not even to the 3.20 base.
If you need a stock one you can't use one from a nandroid backup, its a custom recovery because the nandroid is made with a custom one !

I had the same problem but I found an old cwm backup on my pc and then used it (the backup file on general thread isn't completely stock) so don't use it .
You can even flash through cwm as an update.zip file and do the firmware update manually.

Nope I don't believe that..because I restored using the same nand backup and even though it was already rooted..i could successfully install the OTA and also update the hboot..and oh btw, you need to relock the bootloader if you need to update the hboot

yes, you need to relock the bootloader to update the hboot..that is if you are really keen on updating the hboot...but if you are interested only in the new version..then only the stock rom and recovery is needed

i dont make nandroid backup because andoid and all file erase on my phone when i instal other RUU....i instal RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_Vodafone_UK_2.17.161.4_Radio_2.1204.137D1.21_release_280390_signed
when i instal that RUU change my main version
That ruu does not work. When you unlock the bootloader and flash a custom rom you need to make nandroid backup. That ruu could not wipe your phone because it doesn't install at all ! Now you can only return to stock with a stock nand backup.
So what's the issue ? What did you do ?
You previously installed the 2.17 ruu. Then updated the phone ..... and then ?

You can't downgrade to 4.0.4 if you are not S-OFF. And no S-OFF for HOX
Give us the result of the command
fastboot getvar all
Tho looks like you want to downgrade, so only if u have an s-offed hox you can do. Which u might have since you installed diffderent ruu.

1: unlock bootloader

3: MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP !!!!
4: flash the boot.img from the 4.1.1 custom rom
5: make a full wipe in recovery (do NOT wipe the sdcard)
6: install the 4.1.1 rom.zip
