SwiftKey Flow beta - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Anyone using it? Thoughts? Typing this post with it is pretty easy. Seems a bit more manageable typing one handed than stock or regular SwiftKey.

I downloaded a couple hours ago working good.. very easy to use. it would be nice to have the number keys..

Yeah, I miss the dedicated number keys but I'm sort of willing to trade that for being able to adjust keyboard height and long press duration.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app

seems pretty good so far, almost more accurate than swype

I am giving it a whirl to see how I like it. I don't like how the stock keyboard doesn't auto correct for you and missed how swift key has it... That being said I already miss the stock layout and will probably go back.

I had to go back to swype actually. The correction was too strong leaving error margin small for slide going. But for regular hit your keyboard, it's beyond great.

loved swiftkey but went back to swype with this phone due the size now i finally got the best of both worlds

Figured why not, wasn't happy with Swiftkey back in the day, but... Faster response then aosp jb keyboard, and less annoying then Samsung keyboard, and more accurate then Swype, so. So far, so good. Still getting use to the changes, since I've been so used to aosp ones.

Swiftkey Flow is really amazing but I got so used to having a dedicated row for the number keys, I switched back to the default Samsung keyboard. Now if they made one with the number row......

don't really like it. it's much better than swype; however, the stock keyboard that came with the note 2 is still better overall. the only thing swiftkey has going for it is that it looks cooler. Samsung's keyboard layout makes much more sense and that top row of dedicated number keys is a nice touch.
add a dedicated row of number keys and rethink how the special characters and smiley's are retrieved and flow will be an amazing keyboard, but till then I'm sticking with the default.

Swype does swiping better and syncs my custom dictionary across devices. Unfortunately its mic button is hardwired to Dragon voice dictation in the cloud.
Swiftkey Flow better at predicting what I'm going to write. The 123 and symbol keyboards have great layout. The Mix brings up my preferred Google voice typing. Cool rainbow trace. Swiftkey also is annoying when it doesn't always have flow available such as in Gmail address fields.
Samsung stock better layout and has that all important automatic handwriting recognition setting with the same S Pen, which by itself is almost reason enough to stick with it for that seamless transition.

Crap, anyone have a link to get the samsung keyboard back, Lol. Swift is acting up with the vibrate function. I kind of want stock back, see if the problem persists.

Nevermind, I feel it now. I think it's because my hands are so cold, I work outside. Apologizes...my hands have warmed up.

Tired it, and I prefer the stock Samsung keyboard. Flow is also cumbersome at this stage of the game. The limited auto selections create unnecessary incorrect word selections which creates a lot of deleting. I used Swift key pro version for years with my OG Epic because the spell check worked with the keyboard and the word predictions are amazing. Unfortunately flow has a long way to go for me to want to switch back over. Stock keyboard layout and swype just work better on this beastly phone.

New Swype beta

There was a Swype beta posted tonight. Has anyone else used it? What do you think of it? Beta or stable?
I am using it now and I like it allot it's a big step forward for Swype. And I'll stick to the beta.
What other keyboard do you use?
pics go in this order: stable, beta, keyboard selection
EDIT: there are something that people arent liking or dont fully understand how to do it..... the two im mainly talking about are "adding a word to the user dictionary" and the new "backspacing"
user dictionary: after typing the word ( it will be in a grey box) tap the word till it turns orange (the word in the box (mainly the letters)) then then long press the orange word
backspacing: right after you swype a word it will have a white line under it, when and only when (the white line is there) if you hit the backspace button then it erases the word. any other time it is like the stable. WARINING: when you hold the backspace button down it goes ALOT faster then in the stable. it is something you just have to get used to, and it can be learned.... i understand it now and like it better then in the stable.
if there is anything else you think i should add or would like me to explain then please PM me and i'll get on it

Been using the beta most of today and it's great. It's been awhile since I used it, preferring slide it, but it now acts more like that keyboard and seems to have a stronger prediction system. I does much better with spacing.

I had just been using the stock one in the latest FF## builds. Thanks for the post about the beta. I went out and grabbed it. I think it's pretty sweet. I agree with the other opinions that prediction seems much better!
In addition to my previous post the Dragon voice input is amazing on the new Swype. I have a southern drawl and I would estimate it's getting somewhere in the range of 95 to 98% correct every time. This post was recorded with the voice input 100% and I only had to correct one word and that was Swype and that was only because it was trying to spell it as swipe.
I wish Swype was a better keyboard. It's awesome when Swyping but when strait typing, SwiftKey is king.
This signature is used to denote the fact that I am using a mobile phone to post.

SwiftKey users?

I love SwiftKey because of the amazing auto correct, arrow keys, and swiping to delete a word. I type very well on my phone thanks to the program.
However, since I am not using the stock keyboard, I don't think I can do cool stuff with my pen like write a handwritten text message.
Anyone else sticking to SwiftKey or are folks using the stock keyboard?

If you see the options in "Predictive Text" in Samsung keyboard is almost the same with the "Personalization" menu in Swiftkey.
The only thing I miss is the cursor key option in Switfkey is not available in Samsung keyboard

Sorry cause I usually like to type using both hands. Swype is not very conducive for that. Only reason I use Swype at night is because I cannot type with both hands while lying down and holding the phone above me.
SwiftKey. For clarification, Samsung calls it's version of Swype "Swiftkey", so that camelcasing is more important than ever in this thread.
SwiftKey is the only app I've ever purchased. I used the trial and could not go back to any other keyboard after that. I do wish it had the option for a row of numbers, like the Samsung keyboard does. That's really convenient, and on a phone this size not a hindrance.

Well, i tried the Samsung Keyboard with swipe feature and it sucked. Punctuation was difficult to say the least. However, i did like the number keys always up there.

Overall, Swype Beta seems the easiest when trying to type really fast, but formats funky on the screen sometimes.

Keyboard Influenced by SwiftKey Team?

Not really sure why people think that the SwiftKey devs did any meaningful work with the Note II keyboard. In my opinion, it is garbage in comparison and offers no basic functionality beyond SwiftKey 3. It's a real shame you lose S pen support using an alternative keyboard. Do you really prefer the default keyboard? There is no way I can write anywhere as fast as I can text with basic SwiftKey 3. Thoughts?

+1... exactly what I think...
Yes, the number row counts for something, no doubt, but when I'm wailing away at the keyboard, it is normally to hit letter keys, and not numbers, as good as it is. Simiarly, there are obvious benefits to a hardware querty keyboard, but will few will buy one despite the utility. Now, I say this as someone who doesn't spend a great deal of time working in spreadsheets. Something like that is something I could imagine skipping plain SwiftKey for. What do you use a number row for?

I dont think you get it. Moving the special characters onto an additional row of keys, so I dont have to toggle to another keyboard +being able to hit the numbers on the same screen +swype on the same keyboard... all adds up. Now, if I could change two things; spacebar to autocorrect and being able to edit the keyboards user dictionary, that would be perfection.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
Yes, that's what I'm talking about, the space bar and the auto complete/correct. To me, that IS SwiftKey. If I have to reach up for every word, that is not swift and I could definitely do without it. Considering what you said, if the only influence that SwiftKey had in the Samsung keyboard is the "learning" phase, how is it learning anything if you have to select your words manually and can't change the dictionary?
Before I had the Note 2 I used swift key on all my phones. However with the Note I've been using Swype for the 1st time and love it. So much so I've removed swift key. Swype is nice when you're one handing this beast and is the only reason I even tried using it in the 1st place. I've also found it to be really intuitive. Once swift key have their version of Swype up and running I'll give it another shot.

I still prefer to type with both hands, then again, I find the stock samsung keyboard good enough that it's my daily driver (although i wish the auto correct kicks in automatically... I don't have time to type and then click on the auto correct, just auto correct when i move to the next word).
I only use the swipe keyboard when i'm using 1 handed or the s pen as regular typing should be done with 2 hands. I did come from a sensation so, i was used to their trace keyboard

I had the same problem not liking the lack of space bar for autocorrect until I realized it was the same distance to hit the autocorrected word vs the spacebar. Once I broke that habit swiftkey and swype were forgotten about. Typing on mispelled words to autocorrect em has been nice on the stock sammy keyboard.

Attn: ALL SwiftKey users

Hey guys,
SwiftKey seems to be somewhat proactive about the "features" they pursue. There are two features that would make SwiftKey killer, don't troll me with "stock keyboard", IMO it's terrible and an afterthought:
Number Row (toggleable?): http://support.swiftkey.net/forums/...uggestions/2220958-number-row-optional-5-row-
Condensed keyboard (for one-handed operation,): http://support.swiftkey.net/forums/...ensed-mode-for-one-handed-operation-slide-all
Hit the links and submit your votes!
A dedicated number row is the only reason I'm still using the Samsung keyboard. I prefer Swype, but I think I bought Swiftkey, so I'll definitely check out that first link.

I too prefer Swype, but I think SwiftKey is more pro-active with customer support and whatnot. I switched to SwiftKey b/c with the Note II's size, I found myself "pecking" away with my thumbs more often and it seems to perform better.

I actually vastly prefer the way Swiftkey handles numbers. It's much easier, and quicker, for me to type numbers when they're in the same layout as everything else: phone, right side of the keyboard, calculator, etc. A row of numbers, like the stock keyboard, is frustrating IMO.
I've tried them all. SwiftKey is the best IMO - shortcomings or not.

I wish I could say that, I'm just saying that we've definitely made a big dent in voting up these ideas, 50% increase on on and 33% increase on the other, if we can keep it up, I'm sure they will see the value of implementing these functions, especially since larger devices are going to become more mainstream.
