Hi,
Anyone has suggestion for good VNC and/or Remote Desktop client that work with HTC Desire?
I tested this below:
http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/android.androidVNC/
It does not work.
I was searching too and found this:
w_w_w_.xtralogic.com/rdpclient.shtml
I haven't tested it.
That could be nice, but it is very expensive for something that I dont use everyday ... $19.95

I have tried this and works a treat!
No file transfer but you can
1. use as a mouse
2. play music on either the phone or PC
3. browse pictures on either the the phone or PC
4. play a film on the PC
Apparently, this works!
After I changed the VNC server from UltraVNC to RealVNC (Free version), it does work fine.
But, the "Input Mode" is not that good ... It does not feel right, using finger touch.
Still OK though, better than nothing.

Try using TeamViewer. It works well. You can also try using gosupportnow remote support service, in order to establish View Only remote connection between your HTC phone and your computer, using a browser.

Hello,
I have been looking around, but cant seem to find the answer to my seemingly unique situation.
I have rooted my evo using the Unrevoked Forever / ClockworkMod method.
In these instructions, it said to remove any sync software such as the htc sync or doubletwist.
I now want to be able to sync with iTunes, so what would be a good suggestion to do this? I liked the iPhone i had from work where when I synced, it would keep track of where i was in a podcast and go back to / start up from where i left off on the computer or on the device. This along with the management of my music would be great to have.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

TuneSync, in Market free version and paid version (worth $5 if you ask me)... But I'm pretty sure you're gonna get the "This belongs in Q&A section" from a few.

...expecting it
but with the all the rooting questions and such in here, I figure it may be a better place to ask.
The mod can move if it necessary.
If you're just looking for something that syncs, you may wanna try winamp. it pulls in tracks from your iTunes library, and has a ton of good functions. Plus, it syncs via wifi. I was looking for an iTunes sync, but when i came across it, i liked it better for the evo. Now, iTunes is relegated strictly to my iPod. Hope that helps.
I use isyncr.

Yep, it works. I've been using it for months now.
**Had no idea about WinAmp though. May try that one out. Thanks Uk!**
I use iTunes Agent and could not be happier with it. It loads all of my music in my iTunes library (including purchased songs) onto my Evo. Google iTunes Agent to find the download the program uses your computer and any music application on your phone. No root required.
Isyncr and album art grabber. It works wonderfully. I've been using it with my Evo since July
I'm using doubleTwist with AirSync (WiFi syncing add-on), works pretty well, and can access my music with the stock Sense player
I have heard Isyncr was good and iSyncher wifi, syncs wirelessly, if I am not mistaken.

+1 on this one.
iSyncer seems to work well, but it doesnt retain where in a podcast I am at when I pause and exit the application.
It also doesnt update the location I am at on the computer to the phone.
The podcasts are long that i listen to and would like to be able to stop it on my computer, sync, and then pick up on the phone in my car without having to fast forward to, or have to know, where i left off.
Hello guys I need small help, what is the best file manager application for mac? o wanna transfer music videos and pics between GN and iMac
ta for helping
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
You don't need a file manager per se...
This is the app you use to connect your GN to an OSX machine to transfer files. Google created this for the specific reason of interfacing with android devices that use MTP and not UMS.
http://www.android.com/filetransfer/
You can also transfer over WiFi with an FTP setup. But this is easier.

Lol he doesn't need all that. If he just wants to move pics/music/vid/files back and forth, simple download from Google. Done.
And another thing on that post, I don't see how having to connect your phone via USB to sync with 'Mail', 'Address Book', iCal, iPhoto and iTunes is more seamless than simply letting everything backup wirelessly and automatically with Google services. You're making it harder on yourself by relying on your computers built-in apps. You don't buy an Android phone so that you can go back to the 2007 iPhone strategy and start plugging your phone into the computer every night to sync. That post is basically showing you how to step back from all the great things Android does.

Hi all,
I recently upgraded to ARHD 13.0, my PC is running Windoze XP.
I've just installed WMP 11. I have HTC Sync installed and up to date, why oh bloody why can't I see my HOX as external storage in My Computer?!
All I want to do is put a new album on my HOX, I've tried doing it through Recovery and Mounting/Unmounting my storage, the album transfers over but i can't see it in any of my music players.
Thanks,
T-L-H

Well it's stupid, c'mon HTC sort it out!
so what you're saying is, make a folder called Mobile, put my music folder in there, it'll still get it all okay from there and won't duplicate anything? I can do this with ES file explorer? (Meh I've got Astro Manager, that'll do)
---
I've even tried installing the MTP files direct from Microsoft, still only brings up the HTC Sync Manager installer when I plug in my HOX, what a joke.

also think they have done away with usb storage full stop. not sure how this mtp works but should do if you have the drivers installed. there is an option in the sync manager to transfer documents (zip files etc) that is greyed out for me as the drivers arent installed, let it install the sync manager ans see what happens report back if poss and il have a go at installing the drivers

No.
I've now installed the MTP Drivers directly from Microsoft, Installed WMP 11 for those drivers, Installed the HTC Sync Drivers and nothing.
I've tried your method too exocetdj, I created a Mobil folder and placed my Music Folder in there in my SD Card Folder.
The Stock Music App wouldn't pick up on the new album. I did the transfers using Astro file Manager.

Hi Fellas,

Basically I make playlists with Astro, then after connecting my HOX to my pc or laptop for transferring files, it empties the playlists I have?
Any thoughts?

It could be mate but not sure, have you tried doing the same with the stock music app for a workaround? I have restored playlists through titanium over several roms without any issues
Also you mentioned you are on xp, have you managed to get the MTP crap to work?

Afraid not mate, when I´m running WMP and I connect a device, I can't hit the cancel button quick enough, can´t stand it lol
If you want I could test something though?
As for the playlists, I think what is happening is, the media gets scanned when the phones storage is connected (All my music) it sees the locations empty and rewrites the playlist as such?
I haven´t rooted yet, does titanium need root for backing up?

Yep Titanium needs Root to work but its a pretty good tool to use, saves having to go through the hassle of setting up homescreen and downloading apps again after flashing new rom etc

Make sure you have USB debugging turned off on your device.
I hope that I can get this issue sorted soon!
There's loads of new music I want to put onto my HOX!
Sod it!
Screw this, I'm just going to upload my music collection to Google Play Music, when at work or home I can just stream it over the Wifi.
I'll keep a few of my fave albums on my handset so I can have those whenever.
What I'm looking for is an app that RDP into Windows based computers. I know there are a bevy of apps such as, Splashtop that can do this. However you have to install some companion software on the host machine ahead of time for it to work. Is there an app that can just RDP, minus the extra software install?

You're best off using a tunnel between SSH and VNC to connect.
I've been using that for interaction from my phone/tablet to my server.
I use ConnectBot and Android VNC.

2X client will do rdp without any other app.
I use Remote RDP Lite everyday, works right off the fly. However if you;re connecting to Windows 7 box, you are going to need go to your remote settings and check it to less secure like you're connecting from a XP box.

I use Pocket Cloud daily, the companion app isn't required. You just have to create the connection manually within the app instead of using their auto-find-my-computer-in-the-cloud method.
I use this almost everyday. It has a nice touch screen control and multiple keyboard screens. Lots of keyboard shortcuts.

I use the full version of remote rdp, very light weight and smooth...I've tried most of the rdp apps and I find that a lot of them have too much going on with the GUI and or pointer that end up taking up precious screen real estate (I only use this on my N7 btw). Also I've found Bluetooth keyboards, USB kb/m and a USB credit card reader all work through remote rep. But just try out all the free versions of the above recommended.
