[Q] how to install CWM in FK23 rom? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

What version of cwm can i install if im on Fk23 jb rom??
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2

Agat has a repacked kernel with custom recovery/cwm that works. Look for the thread in the dev section and FOLLOW THE INSTALL GUIDE. Oh and read through the whole thread too. I installed from the external sd card via mobile odin and had no issues what so ever

I always play it safe and Odin back to el26

many have said to use this AGAT FI27 Kernel from source which has CWM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1767421
latest is version 0.6.8 . theres a tar and zip file use the tar for Odin. You could mobile odin as well
But you should do what you want to do in recovery and then either Odin or Flash in that recovery STOCK Kernel FK23 for best results.

[Q] Flashing custom rom in Clockworkmod

I'm trying to flash custom roms to my phone but for som reason it just goes to the little android icon. I'm on EL29 stock root and attempting to flash EL29 custom blazer rom. Anyone else having this issue?
Sounds like you have a stock recovery. Install a custom recovery via sfhub's sticky in the development forum
http://db.tt/0QJkleJR
Here is a link to the stock el26 with cwm. Use odin/mobile odin to flash.

I have EL29 stock rooted. So I can go backwards to EL26? Also I have clockworkmod recovery which is what i'm using to flash custom roms.

Try on a completely stock rom like one of sfhubs Odin in clicks. Or it could just be sprint for now.

Do i just mobile odin the el26/CWM Kernel and then flash shfubs el26 stock rom?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
No go to his fe22 odin one click thread and use that to go to stock twiz. From there update prl/profile. Then you can go ahead and mobile Odin the el26 cwm kernel and ref lash to whatever rom.

I had that same problem on Frankenstein's last night. No matter what I tried they wouldn't update so I ended up going back to Calk's ROM. And I really liked Frankenstein's ROM and wish I could of stayed on it longer.

You can still flash a GB kernel even though you have a ICS ROM installed. It won't boot the phone completely(it'll freeze on the Samsung Galaxy SII screen on startup). But you can still get into recovery and download modes. That's the benefit right there. You don't need to flash all that though. Which ROM do you want to be on? The part about using Odin to go to FE22 and then go to EL26 has an extra step in it. You really don't need to flash the FE22 before going to EL26.

Ya some of them have CWM or a different custom recovery. What ROM is it that you want to install? What I mean is you don't need to flash to multiple other kernels/ROMs before eventually going to whichever ROM you want.
Go to the dev section and find sfhubs fe22 Odin one click and flash your phone with that. The reason you do this is so you will be on a stock rom where you can update prl and profile. After you do this, using Odin (with only auto reboot checked in top right corner), flash the el26 cwm kernel. Boot into recovery and from here you can flash back to Frankenstein or blazer whatever you want. You will need a computer.
So...
1. Fe22 Odin one click
2. Boot into fe22 stock rom and update prl/profile
3. Odin the el26 cwm kernel
4. Flash whatever new rom you want.

Doesn't need to be fe22, but needs to be stock touchwiz or close to so you can update prl/profile and that rom will let you do so. No problem, I'm ways here to help.

Question for flashing ICS on EL29

I just rooted my ET4G and I am wanting to install CM9 but i am sort of comfused. Am I still supposed to flash EL26 kernel via odin before I do!? Or do I just straight download and flash ROM + Gapps? With this kernel/recovery... I installed team rouge CWM that the guide shows any help thatnks!
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Yes odin/mobile odin to el26+cwm. El29 has rogue repack recovery which can brick when flashing to or from ICS. EL26+cwm was the last kernel to have official cwm recovery.
Here's a link to stockcwm-el26.tar.md5: http://db.tt/0QJkleJR

Yes, but when you flash a new rom the kernel is replaced with whatever kernel is included in the rom. So you will have to reflash the el26cwm kernel every time before switching to a new rom. ICS roms won't boot with the kernel, so when switching from ICS to ICS or ICS to GB you will have to hold power+volume up as soon as phone starts to reboot to get into recovery.
Sent on HyDrA with S Voice using Tapatalk 2
I would also suggest having the rom/gapps/kernel you want to flash already downloaded and on your phone before going to el26cwm kernel once your on any ICS ROM.

Best way to go from CM9 nightly to Mijjaz Blend Goodness

Can i just use calks format all with the included recovery in the cm9 nightly? Then just install blend, or will i run into problems doing it this way? Any ideas would be helpful thanks.
If its chris41 safe CWM recovery you can. If not just mobile odin el26 kernel and flash from there

Isnt that the one that comes bundled in the nightlies? I am on the 7/9 nightly....if its not, should i just go to Chris41g's post and d/l the AOSP CWM 5.xx and flash it with the current nightly recovery??
I would just Odin to el26 and flash from there to be 100% safe, doesn't really take much longer

I am assuming yes. As using Odin you just need the right file.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1767421
download the 6.5 .TAR file and follow the video.
put your phone in download mode.
open ODIN, make sure only auto reboot is checked
load .tar file into pda slot.
hook your phone up to the cable. (you'll see a yellow box with COM:xx) means your connected.
press start.
Wait until phone has rebooted. Good to go
Awesome I shall give that a shot after I read a couple more threads.

I would recommend upgrading your kernel to Agat's 6.5 kernel or FI27 kernel repack.
