Is it possible to pull the international S3's photosphere apk and install it, or will that likely mess things up?
Here's a link with a picture of it (the picture on the right)

That's not photosphere. That's the galaxy note ii gallery. There is a .zip floating around that you can flash. I'm using it on my phone

I think he is saying it does not work. Because the framework for the camera and gallery apk have changed. So the dependencies are not there to make the camera show up in the gallery? Could have understood. I think he wants someone who knows what they are doing make it work.

No, he's saying the camera apk doesn't work on ICS. The gallery app does work in ICS and it adds the ability to go to the camera from the gallery.

as stated in the Op the jelly bean camera does not work but the ics does this is mainly for the camera icon to be put in gallery as one app for us of course it will not work if the framework is different
and for jelly bean there is no camere apk its all in one apk gallery and camera

I think you could have avoided people misunderstanding your post if you used proper punctuation. Just a little observation

Sweet!
Top bar showing the camera widget, it allows you to set it to the default camera you use in case you have different camera's.
It did say the apk wasn't installed however it still works.
Sweet!
I'm running PARANOIDANDROID V1.6 NEW[4.0.4][FF18][Hybrid][06/28/12]
Also showed as not installed for me too, can't find the app so maybe it really didn't install. Asked for a ton of permissions too.
Is this apk really kosher?

Didn't work for me either. Looks kosher though (I ripped the same apk from my GNex). It's just that my Xperia Z doesn't want to take it in.

photo sphere looks cool.
photo sphere
yeah. the photo sphere indeed look very nice. anyone can make it work on N-7100??
i wonder if the SIII version will work on the N2 I have photo sphere on my S3 (alongside my regular camera CRITICAL!!) and its amazing.
Would be a nice Christmas gift....

Just confirmed the S3 version functions perfectly (at least for photo sphere did not try anything else) on the US Sprint Note II
I am using it on the LJC Deodex rooted stock rom and its gorgeous as expected
So Merry Christmas
I confirm only that this works on stock deodex rooted LJC Note II US Sprint
flash from recovery

Thanks for posting this. I'm also stock deodexed, rooted and on LJC.
The one thing I noticed is there appears to be a bug if you use a starting point of a computer monitor (which you probably wouldn't do in real life). I've tried 3 times and everytime part of my computer monitor disappears once it puts the photo together. On the plus side, I took a couple of sphere pictures inside this evening and they all turned out. This is a great feature! Thanks for sharing the apk!
HEY I noticed that too with the LCD on the lappy going poof (the top edge) I thought it was just because it was too close

I guess that could be it too (or a combination of the two variables). Maybe if I get some time tomorrow I'll test it a little more. Thanks again for your help
Can anyone explain me how to uninstall a flahed zip like this photosphere camera? doesn't work correctly in my case and since installed it interferes with my stock camera, so both do not work correct at the moment.
Remove the apk from system/app/

Hi,
I've created a flashable zip based on the files extracted by dmmarck (it's all his doing! I'm just packaging it). Just flash from CWM or TWRP.
Everything should work: regular pics, photosphere, gallery and editor. On my device, it all coexists nicely with my existing camera and gallery.
Edit: just noticed that garner had updated his own thread with more things working. It seems his archive contains fewer files, which is great if you want to save space. If it's not working for you, though, try this version.
Thanks cyansmoker!
For me garner's zip didnt work. Yours did!
Trying this out now! Thanks!

Anyone having heat issues with the new cam?
I've heard claims that, yes, it can run your phone pretty hot.
Not sure what it's doing.
Works perfect!

I just noticed that JB 4.2 camera does not have some features what ICS/JB camera has...
Is there any way to get JB 4.1.2 camera for an second camera without another gallery app? ICS camera ("+" version from play store) does not have good features what JB 4.1.2 camera has! :/
Does HDR work

Currently using dark paranoid 2.25.1 tablet mode and this camera app working much better and faster than the stock 4.1.2 camera. Loved that photosphere shots.

the ONLY problem I am having with the photosphere is that it seems to snap pictures when the blue dot isnt directly center of the target. Its close to but not directly center which leads to most of my pictures being "off" from one another.. I wonder if theres a way to slow down the speed or pause it for a second so the blue dot lines up correctly

In my case, I found out that actually slowing down while panning with my phone made things better. I guess my phone was having a hard time figuring out what I was aiming it at.
i've tried to slow it down also (this isnt the panorama selection but the photosphere), but once the blue dot to line up the next shot gets close to the target recticle center where it should be(might be a better word), it snaps the next picture before even getting in the center if that makes sense
I get force close when opening both camera and gallery app. Hmm.. not sure what's wrong though.
I have a cwm backup, but is there other way to restore old camera back? maybe someone has the original apk for camera and gallery?
if not I'll just do a full restore.

I've tried the other zip and this one. neither seems to work for me. i only see the normal camera and gallery apps. i am using BAMF current rom. I do see a gallery2.apk, gallery4, and googlegallery. any idea what's going on? is there a way to create a shortcut to the new ones?
nvm, fixed it, renamed other apks, changed perm and rebooted...

I believe that as long as you delete /system/app/GalleryGoogle.apk and reboot your phone, you should have access to your old camera.
Of course it is different from ROM to ROM...

rename the gallery2.apk to gallery.bak, then try to install. I dont see a gallery4 on mine (current Bamf), just a GALAXY4, which is a lwp and googlegallery is what the new one is (I think).
Will it work in Galaxy s3?

I have the 4.2 camera installed and successfully captured a photosphere photo. Now, how do I view it on the device? I can open the photo in Gallery but it's all crammed on the screen. I'm supposed to be able to pan around like in Google Street View, right?
Is there a specific version of Gallery that I need?
Have you tried using QuickPic? I don't know if it will work as i don't have the new camera, but it might
You need to view it in the gallery that came with the 4.2 camera. When you use that gallery, there are extra "buttons" to push that allow you to interact with it. I normally use quickpic as well, but it doesn't give those options.
When viewing the photo in your 4.2 gallery, there should be a button on the bottom of the photo you press which enables to the photo to look as though on google street view.
I see that button but it doesn't do anything. It lights up to let me know I tapped it, but then the gallery crashes. Should I re-flash the 4.2 camera? Or can someone point me to a download link for just the gallery?
I appreciate the help - you guys are great!
Side note: if I upload the photos to Google+ I can view them from a PC. Looks pretty sweet.
But I want to show them to my parents next week and they don't have internet so I really need to get these working on my phone.
the gallery and camera are included in the same package. i don't believe you can just flash separately. i would just re-flash again, and fix permissions. then it's the 2nd gallery in your app list that you need to use.
wasnt aware that you could do that with google+. maybe i actually have a reason to use it now. thanks.

If you're really wanting to get the photosphere to work, you may want to try a full wipe and then flash the 4.2 GAPPS
Galaxy S3 AOKP 4.1.2 JB 11/12/12 Build
Task650 Underwear kernel. (Conservative/Noop)
I was able to resolve this by downloading the camera from a different source. No need to do a full wipe or install any of the other gapps.

I'm close to rooting and having my way with the phone while waiting for some AOSP roms to drop, but was wondering if anyone has loaded the AOSP 4.2 Camera/Gallery app? If so, does it work correctly? Does Photosphere work?
Thanks to all the devs for their hard work cracking this device so quickly.

Only gallery works for now. The camera is a no go. Photoshpere does not work either along with picture editing.
