Couldnt find relevant thread but curious as to if nexus 4 has unadvertised LTE capabilities (atleast of canadian carriers), why isnt Optimus G pentaband like nexus 4. I guess answer can be as simple as different hardware but AFAIK they're based on same hardware, aren't they?
Simple...the Nexus 4 does not have LTE

Usually you cant boost all frequencies with only 1 amplifier.
And as i know, Nexus4 doesnt have one and has poor LTE reception.
The radio itself supports every wireless format (Gsm/wcdma/cdma/lte) as i know.
So its question of guaranteed quality i guess. And some royalties need to be payd

It has LTE in Canada.
My optimus G have LTE... optimus g L-01E
Same question on my mind actually.
With Wind Mobile up here in Canada. Uses the AWS frequencies like T-Mobile.
Would the AT&T Optimus G work if I plugged my sim in?
I Found someone that wanted to trade me their lg Optimus G that was on rogers and i wanted to know if those lte bands will work on telus? Thanks in advance

This link should answer your question. You probably know this already Bell and telus use the same netwotk.

Can anyone confirm if roger's Lg optimus G E971 will work on At&t's gsm network? 4g lte specifically.
Thanks
anyone? it says 700 mhz in lte band in the specs, so it should work, right?
Yup it should work.

Thought the Rogers version was 2600 MHz LTE only, which is why it won't work with Bell or Telus (as they use 700 MHz LTE). Thus, it wouldn't work with AT&T LTE.

I've done some research, but would be AT&T OG work with Bell LTE? I'm only getting 4G so far, but I'm not sure if I need to flash a Bell modem or what.
Edit: Replaced SIM card and LTE works.
I was under the impression that the Rogers model wouldn't work on Bell's LTE network, but I still manage to get intermittent connection to it.
The specs show the E971 as having 700/2600 bands, while the E973 has 700/AWS.
Any thoughts? It's clearly not the best connection. It's on and off, but I still manage to get it.

Bell is co-owner of the 2600 spectrum, that might explain it.
Actually I looked in the service menu and the phone has many LTE bands, not just the two "official" ones. This would explain why I was able to connect to Bell's LTE. A guy at the office had the Telus model and he had the exact same bands when we looked in his service menu.

The service menu is generic. You have it even when you flash to E975 or F180 rom.

Ah, so they don't modify the menu based on hardware? Makes it somewhat pointless then.

Not necessarily pointless. My E971 will connect to LTE when I pick band 4 which is not even listed in the specs. But I can't tell for sure if it is using Band 4 or not.
So personally I think the E971 can run LTE on 700/2100 and 2600.

Do you find you have an easy time connecting to a non-Rogers LTE network? I could connect at the office, but now I can't anymore, even though my One X has a full strength LTE signal. The Optimus can't seem to correct anymore. Maybe I screwed something up.

Good to know it's not just me then. I haven't been able to connect to LTE since Tuesday night or so while my Note 2 sits on it all day. I even went and got a new sim.
Maybe the 2600Mhz frequency is down.
Where are you located?

I'm in Toronto, using a E971 on the Bell network. I believe Bell uses the 1700 LTE frequency.
Bell uses Band 4 which is 1700/2100 and Band 7 which is 2600 which is the same as Rogers. However Bell's Band 7 coverage is relatively unknown.
Rogers claims that wherever they have Band 4, they have Band 7 too.
The E971 specs only list Band 17 which is 700 and Band 7. So if Band 7 coverage is down, we get no LTE.

Makes sense, and explains why I was able to get LTE at the office but not at my house. I rectified the issue by selling my E971 and buying the E973. Problem solved!

I'm no expert, but I think the 988 doesn't use the same LTE bands that ATT uses. Unlocking the device will not fix that. The reason you can get EDGE is because they share the same bands for that network. Check GSMArena and it will break down the diffs between the variants.
